The Institute of Medicine is currently organizing a workshop designed to consider the lessons learned about DRI development and to identify the issues that may be considered in enhancing the approaches used.  The input will be useful in informing future activities related to DRI development for US and Canadian purposes.<br><br>The workshop will be held in Washington, DC from September 18-20, 2007. There will be no cost to register for the workshop. Registration and related information will be posted on this website approximately June 15, 2007. For more information, please contact Sandra Amamoo-Kakra at 202-334-1732 or DRIworkshop2007@nas.edu</a>. <p class="MsoNormal" align="left">The 3-day workshop is jointly sponsored by the US Department of Health and Human Services, US Department of Agriculture, and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, with additional funding anticipated from Health Canada.  The workshop format will be structured so as to foster discussions among expert research and government scientists and nutrition practitioners as well as others as appropriate from academia, government, healthcare/nutrition practice, and industry.  The workshop is not intended to provide consensus recommendations on issues, but rather is focused on describing the range of stakeholder inputs. The outcome will be a summary report reflective of the presentations and discussions.  <p><br><u>Planning Committee<br><br></u>A seven-member Planning Committee has been convened to plan for the workshop. The Committee is responsible for developing an agenda for the workshop and for identifying potential presenters and discussants. In addition, the Planning Committee is working to specify background information for workshop participants.
