trocaz HEINEKEN, 1829</p> <p>O Pombo Trocaz Columba trocaz, descrito pela primeira vez em 1829 por Heineken, 茅 uma ave, end茅mica da Madeira e caracter铆stico da Floresta Laurissilva, que existe nas montanhas da encosta norte e em alguns lugares isolados da costa sul da ilha.</p> <p>No passado, o Pombo Trocaz foi bastante afectado pela destrui莽茫o do seu habitat, no entanto esta 茅 uma amea莽a que, nos dias de hoje, j谩 n茫o se coloca pelo facto de toda a 谩rea coberta pela Laurissilva ter o estatuto de Reserva Natural Integral ou Parcial, sob a jurisdi莽茫o do Parque Natural da Madeira.</p> <p>Embora esteja associado 脿 Laurissilva, alimentando-se das bagas das grandes laur谩ceas e de folhas e flores de pequenas plantas, o Pombo Trocaz 茅 frequentemente observado nos terrenos agr铆colas adjacentes 脿 floresta, onde procura alimento, provocando estragos nas culturas.</p> <p>Esta 茅 a principal raz茫o pela qual o Pombo Trocaz 茅 uma ave impopular e perseguida pela popula莽茫o. Em 1984 e 1985, devido aos elevados preju铆zos nas culturas de couve, as autoridades foram sujeitas a uma grande press茫o para autorizarem o seu abate, o que aconteceu at茅 1989, data a partir da qual a esp茅cie passou a gozar de um estatuto de protec莽茫o integral.</p> <p>Ao longo das d茅cadas em que estas aves foram v铆timas de abate e envenenamento, o tamanho da popula莽茫o sofreu uma grande varia莽茫o. Alguns autores referem que em 1982 existiam apenas 500 aves e, em 1985, cerca de 1000. O primeiro censo realizado, em 1986, com metodologia espec铆fica e completa, determinou a exist锚ncia de mais de 2700 aves. Ap贸s a data em que a ca莽a passou a ser ilegal, esta monitoriza莽茫o continuou, realizando-se de 4 em 4 anos. O censo de 1995 determinou o efectivo da popula莽茫o em 10400 indiv铆duos, o de 1999 em mais de 8400 e o de 2003 em apenas 7000 indiv铆duos.</p> <p>Nos 煤ltimos anos tem havido um abate seleccionado dos Pombos, por parte do Parque Natural da Madeira, com o objectivo de afugent谩-los das culturas agr铆colas que se encontram adjacentes 脿 Floresta Laurissilva.</p> <div id="social-bar"> <ul
