That's the way they are. Some people don't like cats. That's the way they are. The story was about attaching a GPS to a cat to see where they might go when they were outside. When Grand Coulee Dam was being constructed back in the 1930's they tied a string to a cats tail, placed him inside an electrical conduit and blew an air hose to cause the cat to run to the other open end of the conduit. The string was used to pull a heavier line and so on until they could finally pull the electrical wire through the conduit. The cat may have caught a mouse in the process, but I doubt if it caught any birds while doing so. Birds that got caught by cat's were probably slow to take wing and probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway. I don't own any cat's, but I had a dog until recently. It's just that I grew up in a house where we always had at least two outside cats - "a mouser, and a spare" as my father would say. Too many died in the one road that passed by our house. As for the "poor wildlife" some a commenting on - every once in a great while the outside cats would catch a bird, and twice rabbits were caught (one lived, one did not). Cats are wonderful pets, as long as they don't kill birds, in my opinion. A cat which once lived next door brought its owner a rat from another neighbors yard. She not only brought to the house, but laid it beside my neighbor. After rat stories shared and the cat's gift to its owner, the neighbor prepared her house for sale, sold it in record time and moved out. YES! What a wonderful cat she has! Several neighbors had been hoping this woman would leave since shortly after she moved into the neighborhood. The next door neighbor had called and demanded that the police come out after our dog woofed 6 times over the course of several hours one night. Another time, the children of another neighbor crossed her property to retrieve a bouncing basketball, and other neighbors' pets crossed her property. Workmen crossed her property on foot in order to removed hurricane downed trees from my yard. She bitched about that and the noise the carpenters made as they repaired our home. She was not a welcome neighbor. Good wandering cat. Great gift.
