The idea of virtual time is proposed to deal with the discontinuous pattern of the available radio resource in TDD, and based on the estimation of the traffic load, three power saving schemes in the top-down strategy are presented. Associated mechanisms in each scheme including calculation of the virtual subframe capacity, the algorithm of integrated sleep scheduling, and the mapping mechanisms for the backhaul link and the access link are presented in the paper. Simulation study shows the advantage of the proposed schemes in energy saving over the standard DRX scheme. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LTE-A" title="LTE-A">LTE-A</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relay" title=" relay"> relay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TDD" title=" TDD"> TDD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20saving" title=" power saving"> power saving</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66886/integrated-power-saving-for-multiple-relays-and-ues-in-lte-tdd" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66886.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">516</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1233</span> The Influence of the Moving Speeds of DNA Droplet on Polymerase Chain Reaction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jyh%20Jyh%20Chen">Jyh Jyh Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fu%20H.%20Yang"> Fu H. Three cartridge heaters are collocated to heat three aluminum blocks in order to achieve PCR requirements in the reaction chamber. The effects of various chamber moving speeds among different temperature regions on the chamber temperature profiles are presented. To solve the evaporation effect of the sample in the PCR experiment, the mineral oil and the cover lid are used. The influences of various extension times on DNA amplification are also demonstrated. The target fragments of the amplification are 385-bp and 420-bp. The results show when the forward speed is set at 6 mm/s and the backward speed is 2.4 mm/s, the temperature required for the experiment can be achieved. It is successful to perform the amplification of DNA fragments in our device. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oscillatory" title="oscillatory">oscillatory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymerase%20chain%20reaction" title=" polymerase chain reaction"> polymerase chain reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reaction%20chamber" title=" reaction chamber"> reaction chamber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20cycling%20machine" title=" thermal cycling machine"> thermal cycling machine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64588/the-influence-of-the-moving-speeds-of-dna-droplet-on-polymerase-chain-reaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/64588.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">530</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1232</span> The High Quality Colored Wind Chimes by Anodization on Aluminum Alloy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chih%20Wei">Chia-Chih Wei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun-Qi%20Li"> Yun-Qi Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ssu-Ying%20Chen"> Ssu-Ying Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsuan-Jung%20Chen"> Hsuan-Jung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsi-Wen%20Yang"> Hsi-Wen Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Yuan%20Chen"> Chih-Yuan Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Chon%20Chen"> Chien-Chon Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper we used high quality anodization technique to make colored wind chime with a nano-tube structure anodic film, which controls the length to diameter ratio of an aluminum rod and controls the oxide film structure on the surface of the aluminum rod by anodizing method. The research experiment used hard anodization to grow a controllable thickness of anodic film on aluminum alloy surface. The hard anodization film has high hardness, high insulation, high temperature resistance, good corrosion resistance, colors, and mass production properties can be further applied to transportation, electronic products, biomedical fields, or energy industry applications. This study also in-depth research and detailed discussion in the related process of aluminum alloy surface hard anodizing including pre-anodization, anodization, and post-anodization. The experiment parameters of anodization including using a mixed acid solution of sulfuric acid and oxalic acid as an anodization electrolyte, and control the temperature, time, current density, and final voltage to obtain the anodic film. In the experiments results, the properties of anodic film including thickness, hardness, insulation, and corrosion characteristics, microstructure of the anode film were measured and the hard anodization efficiency was calculated. Thereby obtaining different transmission speeds of sound in the aluminum rod and different audio sounds can be presented on the aluminum rod. Sixteen male and 20 female judo players (age: 16.7 ± 1.6 years old, training age: 4.5 ± 0.8 years) were served as the volunteers for this study. There were 21 players major hand techniques and 15 players major foot techniques. The Biodex S4 Pro was used to assess the strength performance of extensor and flexor of concentric action under the load condition of 30 degree/sec, 60 degree/sec, and 120 degree/sec for elbow joints and knee joints. The strength parameters were included the maximal torque, the normalized maximal torque, the average power, and the average maximal torque. A t test for independent groups was used to evaluate whether hand major and foot major differ significantly with an alpha level of .05. The result showed the maximal torque of left knee extensor in foot major players (243.5 ± 36.3 Nm) was higher significantly than hand major (210.7 ± 21.0 Nm) under the load of 30 degree/sec (p < .05). There were no differences in upper extremity strength between the hand and foot techniques major in three loads (ps < .05). It indicated that the judo player is required to develop the upper extremity strength overall to secure the execution of major techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knee" title="knee">knee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elbow" title=" elbow"> elbow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power" title=" power"> power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=judo" title=" judo"> judo</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222/differential-effect-of-technique-majors-on-isokinetic-strength-in-youth-judoka-athletes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">456</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1230</span> The Impact of an Interactive E-Book on Mathematics Reading and Spatial Ability in Middle School Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abebayehu%20Yohannes">Abebayehu Yohannes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiu-Ling%20Chen"> Hsiu-Ling Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chiu-Chen%20Chang"> Chiu-Chen Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mathematics reading and spatial ability are important learning components in mathematics education. Fengqiao, a nearly 2000-year-old town was on the brink of dilapidation in the past few decades. The town faced such problems as poor construction quality, environmental degeneration, inadequate open space, cultural characteristics and industry vitality. Therefore, the research upholds the principle of ‘organic renewal’ and puts forward three practical updated strategies which are ‘Repair Old as Ever,' ‘Activate Function’ and ‘Fill in with The New’. Also as a participant in updating the design, the author aims to ‘keep the memory of the history and see the development of the present’ as the goal of updating the design and regards the process of town renewal as the experimental venue for realizing this purpose. The research will sum up innovations on the designing process and the engineering progress in the past two years, and find out the innovation experiment and the effect of its implementation on the methodological level of the organic renewal design in Fengqiao ancient town. From here, we can also enjoy the very characteristic development trend presented by China in the design practice of the organic renewal in the ancient town. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=characteristic%20town" title="characteristic town">characteristic town</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fengqiao" title=" Fengqiao"> Fengqiao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20renewal" title=" organic renewal"> organic renewal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20memory" title=" urban memory"> urban memory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84753/fengqiao-an-ongoing-experiment-with-urbanmemory-theory-in-an-ancient-town-and-itsdesign-experience" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84753.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">159</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1227</span> Factors Affecting U-Computing Use</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shui%20Lien%20Chen">Shui Lien Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Yin%20Kuo"> Chen-Yin Kuo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> U-computing use has brings many new services of commerce, which could provide a new experience for customer. However, Chl can’t be preserved at the environment of high temperature and light exposure for a long time due to it is chemical structure is easily degradable. This characteristic causes that human body is difficult to absorb Chl effective components. In order to solve this problem, we utilize polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer encapsulation technology to increase the stability of Chl. In particular, we also established a microfluidic platform provide the control of composite beads diameter. The new composite beads is potential to be a health food. When the coagulant ions mix with a humic acid solution, a Fluorescence quenching effect may be observed conditionally. This effect can be described by Stern-Volmer linear equation which can be used for quantifying the quenching value (Kq) of the Fluorescence quenching effect. In addition, a Complex-Formation Titration (CFT) theory was conducted and the result was used to explain the electron-neutralization capability of the coagulant (AlCl₃) at different pH. The results indicated that when pH of the ACl₃ solution was between 6 and 8, fluorescence quenching effect obviously occurred. The maximum Kq value was found to be 102,524 at pH 6. It means that the higher the Kq value is, the better complex reaction between a humic acid and aluminum salts will be. Through the Kq value study, the optimum pH can be quantified when the humic acid solution is coagulated with aluminum ions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=humic%20acid" title="humic acid">humic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluorescence%20quenching%20effect" title=" fluorescence quenching effect"> fluorescence quenching effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complex%20reaction" title=" complex reaction"> complex reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titration" title=" titration"> titration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92882/finding-the-reaction-constant-between-humic-acid-and-aluminum-ion-by-fluorescence-quenching-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92882.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">578</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1223</span> Determinants of the Users Intention of Social-Local-Mobile Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Chen%20Chen">Chia-Chen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mu-Yen%20Chen"> Mu-Yen Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, with the vigorous growth of hardware and software technologies of smart mobile devices coupling with the rapid increase of social network influence, mobile commerce also presents the commercial operation mode of the future mainstream. Such impairment can limit patients to effectively execute daily activities and affect the efficacy of rehabilitation. The aims of this study were to examine the test-retest agreement, random measurement error, and practice effect of the Continuous Performance Test-Identical Pairs (CPT-IP) (a commonly used sustained attention test) in patients with schizophrenia. The results can provide empirical evidence for clinicians and researchers to apply a sustained attention test with sound psychometric properties in schizophrenia patients. Methods: We recruited patients with chronic schizophrenia to be assessed twice with 1 week interval using CPT-IP. The intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to examine the test-retest agreement. The percentage of minimal detectable change (MDC%) was used to examine the random measurement error. Moreover, the standardized response mean (SRM) was used to examine the practice effect. Results: A total of 56 patients participated in this study. Our results showed that the ICC was 0.82, MDC% was 47.4%, and SRMs were 0.36 for the CPT-IP. Conclusion: Our results indicate that CPT-IP has acceptable test-retests agreement, substantial random measurement error, and small practice effect in patients with schizophrenia. Therefore, to avoid overestimating patients’ changes in sustained attention, we suggest that clinicians interpret the change scores of CPT-IP conservatively in their routine repeated assessments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=schizophrenia" title="schizophrenia">schizophrenia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustained%20attention" title=" sustained attention"> sustained attention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CPT-IP" title=" CPT-IP"> CPT-IP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title=" reliability"> reliability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75846/test-retest-agreement-random-measurement-error-and-practice-effect-of-the-continuous-performance-test-identical-pairs-for-patients-with-schizophrenia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75846.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">304</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1221</span> Effects of Low Sleep Efficiency and Sleep Deprivation on Driver Physical Fatigue</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Yu%20%20Tsai">Chen-Yu Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Te%20%20Liu"> Wen-Te Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Chen%20%20Lo"> Chen-Chen Lo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kang%20%20Lo"> Kang Lo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yin-Tzu%20%20Lin"> Yin-Tzu Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Driving drowsiness related to insufficient or disordered sleep accounts for a major percentage of vehicular accidents. Sleep deprivation is the primary reason related to low sleep efficiency. Nevertheless, the mechanism of sleep deprivation induces driving fatigue to remain unclear. Objective: The objective of this study is to associate the relationship between insufficient sleep efficiency and driving fatigue. Methodologies: The physical condition while driving was obtained from the questionnaires to classify the state of driving fatigue. Sleep efficiency was quantified as the polysomnography (PSG), and the sleep stages were sentenced by the reregistered Technologist during examination in a hospital in New Taipei City (Taiwan). The independent T-test was used to investigate the correlation between sleep efficiency, sleep stages ratio, and driving drowsiness. Results: There were 880 subjects recruited in this study, who had been done polysomnography for evaluating severity for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) as well as completed the driver condition questionnaire. Four-hundred-eighty-four subjects (55%) were classified as fatigue group, and 396 subjects (45%) were served as the control group. The ratio of stage three sleep (N3) (0.032 ± 0.056) in fatigue group were significantly lower than the control group (p < 0.01). The significantly higher value of snoring index (242.14 ± 205.51 /hours) was observed in the fatigue group (p < 0.01). Conclusion: We observe the considerable correlation between deep sleep reduce and driving drowsiness. To avoid drowsy driving, the sleep deprivation, and the snoring events during the sleeping time should be monitored and alleviated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=driving%20drowsiness" title="driving drowsiness">driving drowsiness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sleep%20deprivation" title=" sleep deprivation"> sleep deprivation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stage%20three%20sleep" title=" stage three sleep"> stage three sleep</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=snoring%20index" title=" snoring index"> snoring index</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110120/effects-of-low-sleep-efficiency-and-sleep-deprivation-on-driver-physical-fatigue" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110120.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1220</span> Meditation Based Brain Painting Promotes Foreign Language Memory through Establishing a Brain-Computer Interface</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhepeng%20Rui">Zhepeng Rui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhenyu%20Gu"> Zhenyu Gu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Caitilin%20de%20B%C3%A9rigny"> Caitilin de Bérigny</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the current study, we designed an interactive meditation and brain painting application to cultivate users’ creativity, promote meditation, reduce stress, and improve cognition while attempting to learn a foreign language. Our findings provide a molecular mechanism by which FA inhibit homocysteine-induced COX-2 expression in monocytes, and a basis for using FA in pharmaceutical therapy against inflammation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homocysteine" title="homocysteine">homocysteine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monocytes" title=" monocytes"> monocytes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclooxygenase-2" title=" cyclooxygenase-2"> cyclooxygenase-2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fulvic%20acid" title=" fulvic acid"> fulvic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anti-inflammation" title=" anti-inflammation"> anti-inflammation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151/attenuation-of-homocysteine-induced-cyclooxygenase-2-expression-in-human-monocytes-by-fulvic-acid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">597</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1218</span> A Statistical Model for the Dynamics of Single Cathode Spot in Vacuum Cylindrical Cathode</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Wen%20Chen">Po-Wen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin-Yu%20Wu"> Jin-Yu Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Md.%20Manirul%20Ali"> Md. This paper studies the recyclable nature of RLVs by presenting a solution method for determining minimum-fuel optimal trajectories using principles from optimal control theory and particle swarm optimization (PSO). This problem is formulated as a minimum-landing error powered descent problem where it is desired to move the RLV from a fixed set of initial conditions to three different sets of terminal conditions. However, unlike other powered descent studies, this paper considers the highly nonlinear effects caused by atmospheric drag, which are often ignored for studies on the Moon or on Mars. Rather than optimizing the controls directly, the throttle control is assumed to be bang-off-bang with a predetermined thrust direction for each phase of flight. The PSO method is verified in a one-dimensional comparison study, and it is then applied to the two-dimensional cases, the results of which are illustrated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimum-fuel%20optimal%20trajectory" title="minimum-fuel optimal trajectory">minimum-fuel optimal trajectory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reusable%20rocket" title=" reusable rocket"> reusable rocket</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SpaceX" title=" SpaceX"> SpaceX</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62012/minimum-fuel-optimal-trajectory-for-reusable-first-stage-rocket-landing-using-particle-swarm-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62012.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">277</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1216</span> Using Inertial Measurement Unit to Evaluate the Balance Ability of Hikers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Chen%20Chen">Po-Chen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tsung-Han%20Yang"> Tsung-Han Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhi-Wei%20Zheng"> Zhi-Wei Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Tsang%20Tang"> Shih-Tsang Tang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Falls are the most common accidents during mountain hiking, especially in high-altitude environments with unstable terrain or adverse weather. Balance ability is a crucial factor in hiking, effectively ensuring hiking safety and reducing the risk of injuries. If balance ability can be assessed simply and effectively, hikers can identify their weaknesses and conduct targeted training to improve their balance ability, thereby reducing injury risks. With the widespread use of smartphones and their built-in inertial sensors, this project aims to develop a simple Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) balance measurement technique based on smartphones. This will provide hikers with an easy-to-use, low-cost tool for assessing balance ability, monitoring training effects in real-time, and continuously tracking balance ability through uploading cloud data uploads, facilitating personal athletic performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=balance" title="balance">balance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IMU" title=" IMU"> IMU</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smartphone" title=" smartphone"> smartphone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wearable%20devices" title=" wearable devices"> wearable devices</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188349/using-inertial-measurement-unit-to-evaluate-the-balance-ability-of-hikers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188349.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">38</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1215</span> The Determinants of Senior Students, Behavioral Intention on the Blended E-Learning for the Ceramics Teaching Course at the Active Aging University</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Horng-Jyh%20Chen">Horng-Jyh Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Fang%20Chen"> Yi-Fang Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Liang%20Lin"> Chien-Liang Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, the authors try to investigate the determinants of behavioral intention of the blended e-learning course for senior students at the Active Ageing University in Taiwan. This study points out the correlation between the macroscopic color fastness of natural dye to the cotton fiber and the microscopic binding energy of dye molecule to the cellulose. With the additive metallic mordant, the new-formed coordination bond bridges the dye to the fiber surface and thus affects the color fastness as well as the color appearance. The density functional theory (DFT) calculation is therefore used to explore the most possible mechanism during the dyeing process. Regarding this issue, this paper proposed a load-aware queue partitioning scheduling strategy by first allocating the queues according to the number of processor cores, calculating the load factor to specify the load queue capacity, and it assigned the awaiting nodes to the appropriate perceptual queues through the precursor nodes and the communication computation overhead. At the same time, real-time computation of the load factor could effectively prevent the processor from being starved for a long time. Experimental comparison with two classical algorithms shows that there is a certain improvement in both performance metrics of scheduling length and task speedup ratio. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=load-aware" title="load-aware">load-aware</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scheduling%20algorithm" title=" scheduling algorithm"> scheduling algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perceptual%20queue" title=" perceptual queue"> perceptual queue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heterogeneous%20multi-core" title=" heterogeneous multi-core"> heterogeneous multi-core</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162110/scheduling-algorithm-based-on-load-aware-queue-partitioning-in-heterogeneous-multi-core-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1212</span> Turning Parameters Affect Time up and Go Test Performance in Pre-Frail Community-Dwelling Elderly</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuei-Yu%20Chien">Kuei-Yu Chien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsiu-Yu%20Chiu"> Hsiu-Yu Chiu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Nan%20Chen"> Chia-Nan Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Chen%20Chen"> Shu-Chen Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Frailty is associated with decreased physical performances that affect mobility of the elderly. Time up and go test (TUG) was the common method to evaluate mobility in the community. The purpose of this study was to compare the parameters in different stages of Time up and go test (TUG) and physical performance between pre-frail elderly (PFE) and non-frail elderly (NFE). We also investigated the relationship between TUG parameters and physical performance. Methods: Ninety-two community-dwelling older adults were as participants in this study. Based on Canadian Study of Health and Aging Clinical Frailty Scale, 22 older adults were classified as PFE (71.77 ± 6.05 yrs.) and 70 were classified as NFE (71.2 ± 5.02 yrs.). We performed body composition and physical performance, including balance, muscular strength/endurance, mobility, cardiorespiratory endurance, and flexibility. Results: Pre-frail elderly took significantly longer time than NFE in TUG test (p=.004). Pre-frail elderly had lower turning average angular velocity (p = .017), turning peak angular velocity (p = .041) and turning-stand to sit peak angular velocity (p = .037) than NFE. The turning related parameters related to open-eye stand on right foot, 30-second chair stand test, back scratch, and 2-min step tests. Conclusions: Turning average angular velocity, turning peak angular velocity and turning-stand to sit peak angular velocity mainly affected the TUG performance. We suggested that static/dynamic balance, agility, flexibility, and muscle strengthening of lower limbs exercise were important to PFE. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobility" title="mobility">mobility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aglity" title=" aglity"> aglity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=active%20ageing" title=" active ageing"> active ageing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20fitness" title=" functional fitness"> functional fitness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98466/turning-parameters-affect-time-up-and-go-test-performance-in-pre-frail-community-dwelling-elderly" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98466.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">186</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1211</span> Study on the Inhibition Effect of Rail Dampers on Rail Wave Abrasion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhenyu%20Lei">Zhenyu Lei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chengshun%20Li"> Chengshun Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To prevent the occurrence of rail corrugation and mitigate the influence of existing corrugation, this paper first conducts actual measurements of rail corrugation before and after the installation of the frequency-modulated rail dampers, determines the characteristic frequencies of corrugation and makes comparisons of the time-domain and frequency-domain of the vertical and lateral vibration accelerations of the rails. It indicates that the rail dampers significantly reduce the rail vibration acceleration levels at the characteristic frequencies, and the vibrations are significantly reduced after the installation of the dampers. Additionally, a simulation study is carried out on the wheel-rail system with and without the frequency-modulated rail dampers. The theory that resonance of the wheel-rail system leads to corrugation shows that rail vibration is inseparably associated with the generation of corrugation, and the potential causes of corrugation in each frequency band are explored through the natural frequencies of the system. Finally, the rail vibration attenuation rate index is calculated, describing the absorption effect of the frequency-modulated rail dampers on rail vibration. It indicates that the dampers absorb part of the lateral vibration energy of the rails and have the effect of altering the rail vibration characteristics in the frequency domain. It is considered that they have a positive influence on the suppression of rail corrugation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rail%20corrugation" title="rail corrugation">rail corrugation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency-modulated%20rail%20damper" title=" frequency-modulated rail damper"> frequency-modulated rail damper</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20analysis" title=" finite element analysis"> finite element analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wheel-rail%20system%20resonance" title=" wheel-rail system resonance"> wheel-rail system resonance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rail%20vibration%20attenuation%20rate" title=" rail vibration attenuation rate"> rail vibration attenuation rate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/195634/study-on-the-inhibition-effect-of-rail-dampers-on-rail-wave-abrasion" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/195634.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1210</span> Rainfall Estimation Using Himawari-8 Meteorological Satellite Imagery in Central Taiwan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chiang%20Wei">Chiang Wei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Chung%20Yeh"> Hui-Chung Yeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Chang%20Chen"> Yen-Chang Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective of this study is to estimate the rainfall using the new generation Himawari-8 meteorological satellite with multi-band, high-bit format, and high spatiotemporal resolution, ground rainfall data at the Chen-Yu-Lan watershed of Joushuei River Basin (443.6 square kilometers) in Central Taiwan. There are two steps considered in this study. The first step is the verification of the TRACE by using VSC-17 experimental data. The results of TRACE were similar to the VSC-17 data. It indicates that TRACE has the respectable accuracy in the simulation and analysis of the dry-storage systems. The next step is the application of TRACE in the dry-storage system of Kuosheng NPP (BWR/6). Kuosheng NPP is the second BWR NPP of Taiwan Power Company. In order to solve the storage of the spent fuels, Taiwan Power Company developed the new dry-storage system for Kuosheng NPP. In this step, the dry-storage system model of Kuosheng NPP was established by TRACE. Then, the steady state simulation of this model was performed and the results of TRACE were compared with the Kuosheng NPP data. Finally, this model was used to perform the safety analysis of Kuosheng NPP dry-storage system. Besides, FRAPTRAN was used tocalculate the transient performance of fuel rods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BWR" title="BWR">BWR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TRACE" title=" TRACE"> TRACE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FRAPTRAN" title=" FRAPTRAN"> FRAPTRAN</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry-storage" title=" dry-storage"> dry-storage</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12388/tracefraptran-analysis-of-kuosheng-nuclear-power-plant-dry-storage-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12388.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">519</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1208</span> Cold Plasma Surface Modified Electrospun Microtube Array Membrane for Chitosan Immobilization and Their Properties</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ko-Shao%20Chen">Ko-Shao Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yun%20Tsao"> Yun Tsao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Hsuan%20Tsen"> Chia-Hsuan Tsen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Chung%20Chen"> Chien-Chung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Chuan%20Liao"> Shu-Chuan Liao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Electrospun microtube array membranes (MTAMs) made of PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) have wide potential applications in tissue engineering. However, their surface hydrophobicity and poor biocompatability have limited their further usage. In this study, the surface of PLLA MTAMs were made hydrophilic by introducing extra functional groups, such as peroxide, via an acetic acid plasma (AAP). UV-graft polymerization of acrylic acid (G-AAc) was then used to produce carboxyl group on MTAMs surface, which bonded covalently with chitosan through EDC / NHS crosslinking agents. To evaluate the effects of the surface modification on PLLA MTAMs, water contact angle (WCA) measurement and cell compatibility tests were carried out. We found that AAP treated electrospun PLLA MTAMs grafted with AAc and, finally, with chitosan immobilized via crosslinking agent, exhibited improved hydrophilic and cell compatibility. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plasma" title="plasma">plasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EDC%2FNHS" title=" EDC/NHS"> EDC/NHS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UV%20grafting" title=" UV grafting"> UV grafting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chitosan" title=" Chitosan"> Chitosan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microtube%20array%20membrane%20%28MTAMs%29" title=" microtube array membrane (MTAMs)"> microtube array membrane (MTAMs)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50182/cold-plasma-surface-modified-electrospun-microtube-array-membrane-for-chitosan-immobilization-and-their-properties" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50182.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">411</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1207</span> Simple Multiple-Attribute Rating Technique for Optimal Decision-Making Model on Selecting Best Spiker of World Grand Prix</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Chih-Cheng">Chen Chih-Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20I-Cheng"> Chen I-Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lee%20Yung-Tan"> Lee Yung-Tan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuo%20Yen-Whea"> Kuo Yen-Whea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Chin-Hung"> Yu Chin-Hung</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study is to construct a model for best spike player selection in a top volleyball tournament of the world. Data consisted of the records of 2013 World Grand Prix declared by International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Simple Multiple-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) was used for optimal decision-making model on the best spike player selection. The research results showed that the best spike player ranking by SMART is different than the ranking by FIVB. The results demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simple%20multiple-attribute%20rating%20technique" title="simple multiple-attribute rating technique">simple multiple-attribute rating technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=World%20Grand%20Prix" title=" World Grand Prix"> World Grand Prix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=best%20spike%20player" title=" best spike player"> best spike player</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=International%20Volleyball%20Federation" title=" International Volleyball Federation"> International Volleyball Federation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3166/simple-multiple-attribute-rating-technique-for-optimal-decision-making-model-on-selecting-best-spiker-of-world-grand-prix" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3166.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">474</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1206</span> Digital Twin Platform for BDS-3 Satellite Navigation Using Digital Twin Intelligent Visualization Technology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rundong%20Li">Rundong Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Wu"> Peng Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Junfeng%20Zhang"> Junfeng Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhipeng%20Ren"> Zhipeng Ren</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Yang"> Chen Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiahui%20Gan"> Jiahui Gan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lu%20Feng"> Lu Feng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haibo%20Tong"> Haibo Tong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuemei%20Xiao"> Xuemei Xiao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuying%20Chen"> Yuying Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The research of Beidou-3 satellite navigation is on the rise, but in actual work, it is inevitable that satellite data is insecure, research and development is inefficient, and there is no ability to deal with failures in advance. Digital twin technology has obvious advantages in the simulation of life cycle models of aerospace satellite navigation products. In order to meet the increasing demand, this paper builds a Beidou-3 satellite navigation digital twin platform (BDSDTP). The basic establishment of BDSDTP was completed by establishing a digital twin double, Beidou-3 comprehensive digital twin design, predictive maintenance (PdM) mathematical model, and visual interaction design. Finally, this paper provides a time application case of the platform, which provides a reference for the application of BDSDTP in various fields of navigation and provides obvious help for extending the full cycle life of Beidou-3 satellite navigation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BDS-3" title="BDS-3">BDS-3</a>, <a
