VCSELs with 10 mm aperture diameter and 4 mm of electroplated copper demonstrated a -3dB modulation bandwidth (<em>f</em>-3dB) of 14 GHz and a resonance frequency (<em>f</em>R) of 9.5 GHz at a bias current density (<em>Jbias</em>) of only 4.3 kA/cm2, which corresponds to an improved <em>f</em>-3dB2/<em>Jbias</em> ratio of 44 GHz2/kA/cm2. At higher and lower bias current densities, the <em>f</em>-3dB2/<em> Jbias</em> ratio decreased to about 30 GHz2/kA/cm2 and 18 GHz2/kA/cm2, respectively. Examination of the analogue modulation response demonstrated that the presented VCSELs displayed a steady <em>f</em>-3dB/<em> f</em>R ratio of 1.41&plusmn;10% over the whole range of the bias current (1.3<em>I</em>th to 6.2<em>I</em>th). The devices also demonstrated a maximum modulation bandwidth (<em>f</em>-3dB max) of more than 16 GHz at a bias current less than the industrial bias current standard for reliability by 25%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=current%20density" title="current density">current density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high-speed%20VCSELs" title=" high-speed VCSELs"> high-speed VCSELs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulation%20bandwidth" title=" modulation bandwidth"> modulation bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=small-signal%20characteristics" title=" small-signal characteristics"> small-signal characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20impedance" title=" thermal impedance"> thermal impedance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vertical-cavity%20surface-emitting%20lasers" title=" vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers"> vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78212/improved-small-signal-characteristics-of-infrared-850-nm-top-emitting-vertical-cavity-lasers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78212.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">569</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">788</span> Efficient Variable Modulation Scheme Based on Codebook in the MIMO-OFDM System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-Jun%20Kim">Yong-Jun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Hyun%20Ro"> Jae-Hyun Ro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang-Bin%20Ha"> Chang-Bin Ha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyoung-Kyu%20Song"> Hyoung-Kyu Song</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Because current wireless communication requires high reliability in a limited bandwidth environment, this paper proposes the variable modulation scheme based on the codebook. One possible solution is by use of optical fiber. Optical fiber technology provides high bandwidth in THz. But the disadvantage of optical fiber is of high cost and not used everywhere because it is not possible to reach all the locations on the earth. Also high maintenance required for usage of optical fiber. It puts a lot of cost. Another technology which is almost similar to optical fiber is Free Space Optics (FSO) technology. FSO is the line of sight technology where modulated optical beam whether infrared or visible is used to transfer information from one point to another through the atmosphere which works as a channel. This paper concentrates on analyzing the performance of FSO in terms of bit error rate (BER) and quality factor (Q) using different modulation techniques like non return to zero on off keying (NRZ-OOK), differential phase shift keying (DPSK) and differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) using OptiSystem software. The findings of this paper show that FSO system based on DQPSK modulation technique performs better. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attenuation" title="attenuation">attenuation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bit%20rate" title=" bit rate"> bit rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=free%20space%20optics" title=" free space optics"> free space optics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=link%20length" title=" link length"> link length</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63285/impact-of-different-modulation-techniques-on-the-performance-of-free-space-optics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63285.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">347</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">786</span> Experimental Demonstration of an Ultra-Low Power Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser for Optical Power Generation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Nazhan">S. The optical output power response, as a function of the pumping current, modulation frequency, and amplitude, is measured for an 850 nm VCSEL. We demonstrate that modulation frequency and amplitude play important roles in reducing the VCSEL&rsquo;s power consumption for optical generation. Indeed, even when the biasing current is below the static threshold, the VCSEL emits optical power under the square wave modulation. The power consumed by the device to generate light is significantly reduced to &gt; 50%, which is below the threshold current, in response to both the modulation frequency and amplitude. An operating VCSEL device at low power is very desirable for less thermal effects, which are essential for a high-speed modulation bandwidth. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vertical-cavity%20surface-emitting%20lasers" title="vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers">vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=VCSELs" title=" VCSELs"> VCSELs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20power%20generation" title=" optical power generation"> optical power generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20consumption" title=" power consumption"> power consumption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=square%20wave%20modulation" title=" square wave modulation"> square wave modulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123396/experimental-demonstration-of-an-ultra-low-power-vertical-cavity-surface-emitting-laser-for-optical-power-generation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">785</span> Application of Strong Optical Feedback to Enhance the Modulation Bandwidth of Semiconductor Lasers to the Millimeter-Wave Band</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moustafa%20Ahmed">Moustafa Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Bakry"> Ahmed Bakry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fumio%20Koyama"> Fumio Koyama</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We report on the use of strong external optical feedback to enhance the modulation response of semiconductor lasers over a frequency passband around modulation frequencies higher than 60 GHz. We show that this modulation enhancement is a type of photon-photon resonance (PPR) of oscillating modes in the external cavity formed between the laser and the external reflector. The study is based on a time-delay rate equation model that takes into account both the strong feedback and multiple reflections in the external cavity. We examine the harmonic and intermodulation distortions associated with single and two-tone modulations in the mm-wave band of the resonant modulation. Optical feedback has been proved as an efficient technique to boost the modulation bandwidth and enhance the speed of the semiconductor laser. However, both the laser linewidth and frequency chirping in directly-modulated lasers are sensitive to both intensity modulation and optical feedback. These effects along width fiber dispersion affect the transmission bit rate and distance in single-mode fiber links. In this work, we continue our recent research on directly-modulated semiconductor lasers with modulation bandwidth in the millimeter-wave band by introducing simultaneous modeling and simulations on both the frequency chirping and lineshape broadening. The lasers are operating under strong optical feedback. The model takes into account the multiple reflections of laser reflections of laser radiation in the external cavity. The analyses are given in terms of the chirp-to-modulated power ratio, and the results are shown for the possible dynamic states of continuous wave, period-1 oscillation, and chaos. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chirp" title="chirp">chirp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linewidth" title=" linewidth"> linewidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20feedback" title=" optical feedback"> optical feedback</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semiconductor%20laser" title=" semiconductor laser"> semiconductor laser</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79640/influence-of-strong-optical-feedback-on-frequency-chirp-and-lineshape-broadening-in-high-speed-semiconductor-laser" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79640.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">481</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">783</span> High-Frequency Modulation of Light-Emitting Diodes for New Ultraviolet Communications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meng-Chyi%20Wu">Meng-Chyi Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bonn%20Lin"> Bonn Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jyun-Hao%20Liao"> Jyun-Hao Liao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chein-Ju%20Chen"> Chein-Ju Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Cheng%20Jhuang"> Yu-Cheng Jhuang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mau-Phon%20Houng"> Mau-Phon Houng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fang-Hsing%20Wang"> Fang-Hsing Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Chu%20Liu"> Min-Chu Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Fu%20Yang"> Cheng-Fu Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Shong%20Hong"> Cheng-Shong Hong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Since the use of wireless communications has become critical nowadays, the available RF spectrum has become limited. Ultraviolet (UV) communication system can alleviate the spectrum constraint making UV communication system a potential alternative to future communication demands. Also, UV links can provide faster communication rate and can be used in combination with existing RF communication links, providing new communications diversity with higher user capacity. The UV region of electromagnetic spectrum has been of interest to detector, imaging and communication technologies because the stratospheric ozone layer effectively absorbs some solar UV radiation from reaching the earth surface. The wavebands where most of UV radiation is absorbed by the ozone are commonly known as the solar blind region. By operating in UV-C band (200-280 nm) the communication system can minimize the transmission power consumption since it will have less radiation noise. UV communication uses the UV ray as the medium. Electric signal is carried on this band after being modulated and then be transmitted within the atmosphere as channel. Though the background noise of UV-C communication is very low owing to the solar-blind feature, it leads to a large propagation loss. The 370 nm UV provides a much lower propagation loss than that the UV-C does and the recent device technology for UV source on this band is more mature. The fabricated 370 nm AlGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with an aperture size of 45 m exhibit a modulation bandwidth of 165 MHz at 30 mA and a high power of 7 W/cm2 at 230 A/cm2. In order to solve the problem of low power in single UV LED, a UV LED array is presented in. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultraviolet%20%28UV%29%20communication" title="ultraviolet (UV) communication">ultraviolet (UV) communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=light-emitting%20diodes%20%28LEDs%29" title=" light-emitting diodes (LEDs)"> light-emitting diodes (LEDs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulation%20bandwidth" title=" modulation bandwidth"> modulation bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LED%20array" title=" LED array"> LED array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=370%20nm" title=" 370 nm"> 370 nm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46357/high-frequency-modulation-of-light-emitting-diodes-for-new-ultraviolet-communications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">414</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">782</span> Polarization Insensitive Absorber with Increased Bandwidth Using Multilayer Metamaterial</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Srilaxmi%20Gangula">Srilaxmi Gangula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MahaLakshmi%20Vinukonda"> MahaLakshmi Vinukonda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neeraj%20Rao"> Neeraj Rao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A wide band polarization insensitive metamaterial absorber with bandwidth enhancement in X and C band is proposed. It has big disadvantage of narrow bandwidth. To improve the bandwidth a W-slot technique is used, it is efficient to enhance the bandwidth of antenna. The feeding point of antenna is very important for efficient operation, so coaxial feeding technique is applied to microstrip patch antenna for impedance matching. A broadband W-slot microstrip patch antenna is designed successfully which attains a bandwidth of 22.74% at 10dB return loss with centre frequency of 4.5GHz and also it attains maximum directivity 8.78dBi. It is designed by cutting a W-slot into the patch of antenna, because of this resonant slot, the antenna gives broad bandwidth. This antenna is best suitable for C-band frequency spectrum. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using IE3D software. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=broadband" title="broadband">broadband</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microstrip%20antenna" title=" microstrip antenna"> microstrip antenna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=VSWR" title=" VSWR"> VSWR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=W-slotted%20patch" title=" W-slotted patch"> W-slotted patch</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25341/design-of-broadband-w-slotted-microstrip-patch-antenna" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25341.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">319</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">780</span> Minimization of Switching Losses in Cascaded Multilevel Inverters Using Efficient Sequential Switching Hybrid-Modulation Techniques</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20Satish%20Kumar">P. The analysis is carried out with multiresonator based chipless RFID tags using frequency range from 3 GHz − 6 GHz and bandwidth of 500 M Hz in outdoor non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment. SISO configuration is used to communicate from the reader to the tag and SIMO configuration is used do vice versa. Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) technique is used in the reader. MPSK, DQPSK, DBPSK, BPSK, QPSK and DMPSK modulation techniques are considered with coherent demodulation to evaluate the BER performance. From the numerical analysis of the results, it is found that at a given BER maximum possible round trip distance can be achieved using DMPSK modulation technique. In addition, it has been proved that, while using DMPSK modulation technique, the application of diversity has very little effect on the overall improvement in reader receiver sensitivity and achievable distance. Finally the method not only proves to be a very good way for tag detection in case of a chipless RFID system but also gives a clear insight regarding the interrelationship between BER, read range, reader received power, number of receiving antenna in outdoor NLOS environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EGC" title="EGC">EGC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MRC" title=" MRC"> MRC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BER" title=" BER"> BER</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=read%20range" title=" read range"> read range</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diversity" title=" diversity"> diversity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39438/performance-analysis-of-different-psk-scheme-on-receiver-sensitivity-and-round-trip-distance-for-chipless-rfid-system-for-uwb-with-rayleigh-fading-channels-in-outdoor-nlos-environment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39438.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">350</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">778</span> Frequency Modulation in Vibro-Acoustic Modulation Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D.%20Liu">D. This approach, however, does not differentiate between amplitude and frequency modulations, AM and FM, respectfully. It was experimentally shown that both modulations could be present in the spectrum, yet each modulation may be associated with different physical mechanisms. AM mechanisms are quite well understood and widely covered in the literature. This paper is a first attempt to explain the generation mechanisms of FM and its correlation with the flaw properties. Here we proposed two possible mechanisms leading to FM modulation based on nonlinear local defect resonance and dynamic acousto-elastic models. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-destructive%20testing" title="non-destructive testing">non-destructive testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20acoustics" title=" nonlinear acoustics"> nonlinear acoustics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20health%20monitoring" title=" structural health monitoring"> structural health monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acousto-elasticity" title=" acousto-elasticity"> acousto-elasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local%20defect%20resonance" title=" local defect resonance"> local defect resonance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149507/frequency-modulation-in-vibro-acoustic-modulation-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149507.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">152</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">777</span> Acoustic Characteristics of Ḫijaiyaḫ Letters Pronunciation by Indonesian Native Speaker</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Romi%20Hardiyansyah">Romi Hardiyansyah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raden%20Sugeng%20Joko%20Sarwono"> Raden Sugeng Joko Sarwono</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agus%20Samsi"> Agus Samsi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Indonesian people have a mother language but not Arabic. Meanwhile, they must be able to pronounce the Arabic because Islam is the biggest religion in Indonesia. Arabic is composed by ḫijaiyaḫ letters which has its own pronunciation. Sound production process in humans can be divided into three physiological processes, namely: the formation of airflow from the lungs, the change in airflow from the lungs into the sound, and articulation (the modulation/sound setting into a specific sound). Ḫijaiyaḫ letters has its own articulation, some of which seem strange for most people in Indonesia. Those letters come out from the middle and upper throat so that the letters has its own acoustic characteristics. Acoustic characteristics of voice can be observed by source-filter approach that has parameters: pitch, formant, and formant bandwidth. Pitch is the basic tone in every human being. Formant is the resonance frequency of the human voice. Formant bandwidth is the time-width of a formant. After recording the sound from 21 subjects, data is processed by software Praat version 5.3.39. The analysis showed that each pronunciation, syakal (vowel changer), and the place of discharge letters has the same timbre which are determined by third and fourth formant. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%E1%B8%ABijaiya%E1%B8%AB" title="ḫijaiyaḫ">ḫijaiyaḫ</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=articulation" title=" articulation"> articulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pitch" title=" pitch"> pitch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formant" title=" formant"> formant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formant%20bandwidth" title=" formant bandwidth"> formant bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=timbre" title=" timbre"> timbre</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36324/acoustic-characteristics-of-ijaiya-letters-pronunciation-by-indonesian-native-speaker" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36324.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">396</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">776</span> Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in Fiber-Wireless (FiWi) Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eman%20I.%20Raslan">Eman I. These networks combine the optical network as the back end where different passive optical network (PON) technologies are realized and the wireless network as the front end where different wireless technologies are adopted, e.g. LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi, and Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs). The convergence of both optical and wireless technologies requires designing architectures with robust efficient and effective bandwidth allocation schemes. Different bandwidth allocation algorithms have been proposed in FiWi networks aiming to enhance the different segments of FiWi networks including wireless and optical subnetworks. In this survey, we focus on the differentiating between the different bandwidth allocation algorithms according to their enhancement segment of FiWi networks. We classify these techniques into wireless, optical and Hybrid bandwidth allocation techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber-wireless%20%28FiWi%29" title="fiber-wireless (FiWi)">fiber-wireless (FiWi)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20bandwidth%20allocation%20%28DBA%29" title=" dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA)"> dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=passive%20optical%20networks%20%28PON%29" title=" passive optical networks (PON)"> passive optical networks (PON)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media%20access%20control%20%28MAC%29" title=" media access control (MAC)"> media access control (MAC)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43649/dynamic-bandwidth-allocation-in-fiber-wireless-fiwi-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43649.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">531</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">775</span> Vibroacoustic Modulation with Chirp Signal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong%20Liu">Dong Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> By sending a high-frequency probe wave and a low-frequency pump wave to a specimen, the vibroacoustic method evaluates the defect’s severity according to the modulation index of the received signal. Many studies experimentally proved the significant sensitivity of the modulation index to the tiny contact type defect. However, it has also been found that the modulation index was highly affected by the frequency of probe or pump waves. Therefore, the chirp signal has been introduced to the VAM method since it can assess multiple frequencies in a relatively short time duration, so the robustness of the VAM method could be enhanced. Consequently, the signal processing method needs to be modified accordingly. Various studies utilized different algorithms or combinations of algorithms for processing the VAM signal method by chirp excitation. These signal process methods were compared and used for processing a VAM signal acquired from the steel samples. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibroacoustic%20modulation" title="vibroacoustic modulation">vibroacoustic modulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20acoustic%20modulation" title=" nonlinear acoustic modulation"> nonlinear acoustic modulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20acoustic%20NDT%26E" title=" nonlinear acoustic NDT&amp;E"> nonlinear acoustic NDT&amp;E</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=signal%20processing" title=" signal processing"> signal processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20health%20monitoring" title=" structural health monitoring"> structural health monitoring</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155764/vibroacoustic-modulation-with-chirp-signal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155764.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">99</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">774</span> Dynamics of Chirped RZ Modulation Format in GEPON Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Network </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anurag%20Sharma">Anurag Sharma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manoj%20Kumar"> Manoj Kumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashima"> Ashima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sooraj%20Parkash"> Sooraj Parkash</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The work in this paper presents simulative comparison for different modulation formats such as NRZ, Manchester and CRZ in a 100 subscribers at 5 Gbps bit rate Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) FTTH network. Also, it is difficult to connect the traditional converters to the high and medium voltage. For these reasons, a new family of multilevel inverters has appeared as a solution for working with higher voltage levels. Different modulation topologies like Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM), Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHE-PWM) are available for multilevel inverters. In this work, different hybrid modulation techniques which are combination of fundamental frequency modulation and multilevel sinusoidal-modulation are compared. The main characteristic of these modulations are reduction of switching losses with good harmonic performance and balanced power loss dissipation among the device. The proposed hybrid modulation schemes are developed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink for cascaded H-bridge inverter. The results validate the applicability of the proposed schemes for cascaded multilevel inverter. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20PWM%20techniques" title="hybrid PWM techniques">hybrid PWM techniques</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cascaded%20multilevel%20inverters" title=" cascaded multilevel inverters"> cascaded multilevel inverters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=switching%20loss%20minimization" title=" switching loss minimization"> switching loss minimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12634/hybrid-pwm-techniques-for-the-reduction-of-switching-losses-and-voltage-harmonics-in-cascaded-multilevel-inverters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12634.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">616</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">770</span> Analysis of Interpolation Factor in Pulse Shaping Filter on MRC for CDMA 2000 Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pankaj%20Verma">Pankaj Verma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gagandeep%20Singh%20Walia"> Gagandeep Singh Walia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Padma%20Devi"> Padma Devi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20P.%20Singh"> H. CDMA offers high bandwidth and wireless broadband services but the efficiency gets decreased because of many interfering factors like fading, interference, scattering, diffraction, refraction, reflection etc. To reduce the spectral bandwidth is one of the major concerns in modern day technology and this is achieved by pulse shaping filter. This paper investigates the effect of diversity (MRC), interpolation factor in Root Raised Cosine (RRC) filter for the QPSK and BPSK modulation schemes. It is made possible to send information with minimum inter symbol interference and within limited bandwidth with proper pulse shaping technique. Bit error rate (BER) performance is analyzed by applying diversity technique by varying the interpolation factor for Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK). Interpolation factor increases the original sampling rate of a sequence to a higher rate and reduces the interference and diversity reduces the fading. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CDMA2000" title="CDMA2000">CDMA2000</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=root%20raised%20cosine" title=" root raised cosine"> root raised cosine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=roll%20off%20factor" title=" roll off factor"> roll off factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ISI" title=" ISI"> ISI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diversity" title=" diversity"> diversity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interference" title=" interference"> interference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fading" title=" fading"> fading</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12521/analysis-of-interpolation-factor-in-pulse-shaping-filter-on-mrc-for-cdma-2000-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12521.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">475</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">769</span> Designing of a Micromechanical Gyroscope with Enhanced Bandwidth</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bator%20Shagdyrov">Bator Shagdyrov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20Zorina"> Elena Zorina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tamara%20Nesterenko"> Tamara Nesterenko</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of the research was to develop a design of micromechanical gyroscope, which will be used in the automotive industry, safety systems and anti-lock braking system. The research resulted in improvement of one of the technical parameters – bandwidth. In the process of mass production of micromechanical sensors, problems occurred with their use. One of the problems was a narrow bandwidth typical for the gyroscopes with a high-quality factor. A constructive way of increasing bandwidth is to use multimass systems via secondary oscillations axis. When constructing, the main task was to choose the frequency - phases and antiphases as close to each other as possible, and set the frequency of the primary oscillation evenly between them. Investigations are carried out using the T-Flex CAD finite element program and T-Flex ANALYSIS support package. The results obtained are planned to use in the future for the production of an experimental model of development and testing in practice of characteristics derived by theoretical means. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bandwidth" title="bandwidth">bandwidth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inertial%20mass" title=" inertial mass"> inertial mass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20model" title=" mathematical model"> mathematical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micromechanical%20gyroscope" title=" micromechanical gyroscope"> micromechanical gyroscope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micromechanics" title=" micromechanics"> micromechanics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63158/designing-of-a-micromechanical-gyroscope-with-enhanced-bandwidth" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63158.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">768</span> Implementation of Multi-Carrier Pulse Width Modulation Techniques in Multilevel Inverter</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Suresh%20Kumar">M. There are number of techniques, types and protocols available for disseminating the data but in order to preserve limited bandwidth and to disseminate maximum data over networks makes it more challenging. There are broadcasting, multicasting and geocasting based protocols. Multicasting based protocols are found to be best for conserving the bandwidth. One such protocol named BEAM exists that improves the performance of Vehicular Adhoc Networks by reducing the number of in-network message transactions and thereby efficiently utilizing the bandwidth during an emergency situation. But this protocol may result in multicar chain collision as there was no V2V communication. So, this paper proposes a new protocol named Enhanced Bandwidth Efficient Cluster Based Multicasting Protocol (EBECM) that will overcome the limitations of existing BEAM protocol. And Simulation results will show the improved performance of EBECM in terms of Routing overhead, throughput and PDR when compared with BEAM protocol. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BEAM" title="BEAM">BEAM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20dissemination" title=" data dissemination"> data dissemination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20situation" title=" emergency situation"> emergency situation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vehicular%20adhoc%20network" title=" vehicular adhoc network"> vehicular adhoc network</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37778/bandwidth-efficient-cluster-based-collision-avoidance-multicasting-protocol-in-vanets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37778.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">348</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">760</span> Performance Analysis of Curved U-Slot Patch Antenna with Enhanced Bandwidth and Isolation for Mimo Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umesh%20Kumar">Umesh Kumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arun%20Kumar%20Shukla"> Arun Kumar Shukla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20V.%20V.%20Ravindra%20Babu"> B.
