And if <i>it is</i> disgraceful to a woman to be shorn or to be shaven, let her cover her head. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>For truly a man ought not to cover the head, being <i>the</i> image and glory of God; but the woman is <i>the</i> glory of man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For man is not of woman, but woman of man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For truly man was not created on account of the woman, but woman on account of the man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Because of this, the woman ought to have authority on the head, on account of the angels. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>However, neither <i>is</i> woman separate from man, nor man separate from woman in <i>the</i> Lord. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>For just as the woman <i>is</i> of the man, so also the man <i>is</i> by the woman. And all things <i>are</i> of God. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Judge for yourselves: Is it becoming for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>but if a woman has long hair, it is to her glory? For the long hair instead of a covering is given to her. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Now if anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor do the churches of God. </p><p class="hdg">Sharing in the Lord's Supper<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:14-23)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Now in this instructing, I do not praise <i>you</i>, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>For first indeed, of you coming together in an assembly, I hear there to be divisions among you, and in part I believe it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>For also it behooves there to be factions among you, so that also the approved should become evident among you. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Therefore, of you coming together in one place, it is not to eat <i>the</i> Lord’s supper. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>For in eating, one takes first the own supper. And indeed this <i>one</i> is hungry, but that <i>one</i> is drunken. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>What! Have you no houses in which to eat and to drink? Or do you despise the church of God and put to shame those having nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise <i>you</i>! </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed, took bread, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>and having given thanks, He broke <i>it</i> and said, <span class="red">“This is My body, which <i>is</i> for you;<span class="fn"><a href="#fna" title="BYZ and TR ‘which is broken for you’">a</a></span> do this in remembrance of Me.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Likewise also the cup after having supped, saying, <span class="red">“This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you might drink <i>it</i>, in remembrance of Me.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>For as often as you may eat this bread and may drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He should come. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Therefore whoever should eat the bread or should drink the cup of the Lord unworthily will be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>But let a man examine himself, and in this manner let him eat of the bread, and let him drink of the cup. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>For the <i>one</i> eating and drinking not discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>Because of this, many <i>are</i> weak and sick among you, and many are fallen asleep. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>For if we were judging ourselves, we would not come under judgment. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>But being judged by the Lord, we are disciplined, so that we should not be condemned with the world. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>So then, my brothers, coming together in order to eat, wait for one another. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_corinthians/11-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you might not come together for judgment; and I will set in order the other things as soon as I might come.<A name="fn"><br /><br /></p><A name="fna"></a><span class="footnotesbot">a</span> <span class="fnverse">24</span> <span class="footnote">BYZ and TR <i>which is broken for you</i></span><br /><br /></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center">The Berean Bible<br /><a href="//berean.bible">www.Berean.Bible</a><br /><br /><a href="//literalbible.com">Berean Literal Bible (BLB)</a><br />&copy; 2016 by <a href="//biblehub.com">Bible Hub</a> and <a href="//berean.bible">Berean.Bible</a><br />Used by Permission.
