The model is a mixture of the three known phases of a component life, the decreasing failure rate (DFR), the constant failure rate (CFR) and the increasing failure rate (IFR) represented by three parametric Weibull models. The parameters are obtained from a simultaneous fitting process of the model to the Kernel nonparametric hazard rate curve. From the Weibull parameters and failure rate curves the useful lifetime and the characteristic lifetime were defined. To demonstrate the model the historic time-to-failure of distribution transformers were used as an example. The resulted “Bathtub curve” shows the failure rate for the equipment lifetime which can be applied in economic and replacement decision models. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bathtub%20curve" title="bathtub curve">bathtub curve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20analysis" title=" failure analysis"> failure analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lifetime%20estimation" title=" lifetime estimation"> lifetime estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parameter%20estimation" title=" parameter estimation"> parameter estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weibull%20distribution" title=" Weibull distribution"> Weibull distribution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10780/a-bathtub-curve-from-nonparametric-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10780.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">446</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10104</span> A Partially Accelerated Life Test Planning with Competing Risks and Linear Degradation Path under Tampered Failure Rate Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fariba%20Azizi">Fariba Azizi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Firoozeh%20Haghighi"> Firoozeh Haghighi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Viliam%20Makis"> Viliam Makis</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we propose a method to model the relationship between failure time and degradation for a simple step stress test where underlying degradation path is linear and different causes of failure are possible. It is assumed that the intensity function depends only on the degradation value. No assumptions are made about the distribution of the failure times. A simple step-stress test is used to shorten failure time of products and a tampered failure rate (TFR) model is proposed to describe the effect of the changing stress on the intensities. We assume that some of the products that fail during the test have a cause of failure that is only known to belong to a certain subset of all possible failures. This case is known as masking. In the presence of masking, the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the model parameters are obtained through an expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm by treating the causes of failure as missing values. The effect of incomplete information on the estimation of parameters is studied through a Monte-Carlo simulation. Finally, a real example is analyzed to illustrate the application of the proposed methods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cause%20of%20failure" title="cause of failure">cause of failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20degradation%20path" title=" linear degradation path"> linear degradation path</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability%20function" title=" reliability function"> reliability function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expectation-maximization%20algorithm" title=" expectation-maximization algorithm"> expectation-maximization algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intensity" title=" intensity"> intensity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=masked%20data" title=" masked data"> masked data</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70878/a-partially-accelerated-life-test-planning-with-competing-risks-and-linear-degradation-path-under-tampered-failure-rate-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70878.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10103</span> Additive Weibull Model Using Warranty Claim and Finite Element Analysis Fatigue Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kanchan%20Mondal">Kanchan Mondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dasharath%20Koulage"> Dasharath Koulage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dattatray%20Manerikar"> Dattatray Manerikar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asmita%20Ghate"> Asmita Ghate</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents an additive reliability model using warranty data and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) data. Warranty data for any product gives insight to its underlying issues. This is often used by Reliability Engineers to build prediction model to forecast failure rate of parts. But there is one major limitation in using warranty data for prediction. Warranty periods constitute only a small fraction of total lifetime of a product, most of the time it covers only the infant mortality and useful life zone of a bathtub curve. Predicting with warranty data alone in these cases is not generally provide results with desired accuracy. Failure rate of a mechanical part is driven by random issues initially and wear-out or usage related issues at later stages of the lifetime. For better predictability of failure rate, one need to explore the failure rate behavior at wear out zone of a bathtub curve. Due to cost and time constraints, it is not always possible to test samples till failure, but FEA-Fatigue analysis can provide the failure rate behavior of a part much beyond warranty period in a quicker time and at lesser cost. In this work, the authors proposed an Additive Weibull Model, which make use of both warranty and FEA fatigue analysis data for predicting failure rates. It involves modeling of two data sets of a part, one with existing warranty claims and other with fatigue life data. Hazard rate base Weibull estimation has been used for the modeling the warranty data whereas S-N curved based Weibull parameter estimation is used for FEA data. Two separate Weibull models’ parameters are estimated and combined to form the proposed Additive Weibull Model for prediction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bathtub%20curve" title="bathtub curve">bathtub curve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatigue" title=" fatigue"> fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEA" title=" FEA"> FEA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title=" reliability"> reliability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warranty" title=" warranty"> warranty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weibull" title=" Weibull"> Weibull</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179222/additive-weibull-model-using-warranty-claim-and-finite-element-analysis-fatigue-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179222.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">73</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10102</span> Relationship between Different Heart Rate Control Levels and Risk of Heart Failure Rehospitalization in Patients with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation: A Retrospective Cohort Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yongrong%20Liu">Yongrong Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xin%20Tang"> Xin Tang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Persistent atrial fibrillation is a common arrhythmia closely related to heart failure. Heart rate control is an essential strategy for treating persistent atrial fibrillation. Still, the understanding of the relationship between different heart rate control levels and the risk of heart failure rehospitalization is limited. Objective: The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between different levels of heart rate control in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and the risk of readmission for heart failure. Methods: We conducted a retrospective dual-centre cohort study, collecting data from patients with persistent atrial fibrillation who received outpatient treatment at two tertiary hospitals in central and western China from March 2019 to March 2020. The collected data included age, gender, body mass index (BMI), medical history, and hospitalization frequency due to heart failure. Patients were divided into three groups based on their heart rate control levels: Group I with a resting heart rate of less than 80 beats per minute, Group II with a resting heart rate between 80 and 100 beats per minute, and Group III with a resting heart rate greater than 100 beats per minute. The readmission rates due to heart failure within one year after discharge were statistically analyzed using propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio. Differences in readmission rates among the different groups were compared using one-way ANOVA. The impact of varying levels of heart rate control on the risk of readmission for heart failure was assessed using the Cox proportional hazards model. Binary logistic regression analysis was employed to control for potential confounding factors. Results: We enrolled a total of 1136 patients with persistent atrial fibrillation. The results of the one-way ANOVA showed that there were differences in readmission rates among groups exposed to different levels of heart rate control. The readmission rates due to heart failure for each group were as follows: Group I (n=432): 31 (7.17%); Group II (n=387): 11.11%; Group III (n=317): 90 (28.50%) (F=54.3, P<0.001). After performing 1:1 propensity score matching for the different groups, 223 pairs were obtained. Analysis using the Cox proportional hazards model showed that compared to Group I, the risk of readmission for Group II was 1.372 (95% CI: 1.125-1.682, P<0.001), and for Group III was 2.053 (95% CI: 1.006-5.437, P<0.001). Furthermore, binary logistic regression analysis, including variables such as digoxin, hypertension, smoking, coronary heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as independent variables, revealed that coronary heart disease and COPD also had a significant impact on readmission due to heart failure (p<0.001). Conclusion: The correlation between the heart rate control level of patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and the risk of heart failure rehospitalization is positive. Reasonable heart rate control may significantly reduce the risk of heart failure rehospitalization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20rate%20control%20levels" title="heart rate control levels">heart rate control levels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure%20rehospitalization" title=" heart failure rehospitalization"> heart failure rehospitalization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=persistent%20atrial%20fibrillation" title=" persistent atrial fibrillation"> persistent atrial fibrillation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retrospective%20cohort%20study" title=" retrospective cohort study"> retrospective cohort study</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177767/relationship-between-different-heart-rate-control-levels-and-risk-of-heart-failure-rehospitalization-in-patients-with-persistent-atrial-fibrillation-a-retrospective-cohort-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177767.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">74</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10101</span> Physical and Mechanical Phenomena Associated with Rock Failure in Brazilian Disc Specimens</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamid%20Reza%20Nejati">Hamid Reza Nejati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amin%20Nazerigivi"> Amin Nazerigivi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Reza%20Sayadi"> Ahmad Reza Sayadi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Failure mechanism of rocks is one of the fundamental aspects to study rock engineering stability. Rock is a material that contains flaws, initial damage, micro-cracks, etc. Failure of rock structure is largely due to tensile stress and was influenced by various parameters. In the present study, the effect of brittleness and loading rate on the physical and mechanical phenomena produced in rock during loading sequences is considered. For this purpose, Acoustic Emission (AE) technique is used to monitor fracturing process of three rock types (onyx marble, sandstone and soft limestone) with different brittleness and sandstone samples under different loading rate. The results of experimental tests revealed that brittleness and loading rate have a significant effect on the mode and number of induced fracture in rocks. An increase in rock brittleness increases the frequency of induced cracks, and the number of tensile fracture decreases when loading rate increases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brittleness" title="brittleness">brittleness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loading%20rate" title=" loading rate"> loading rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustic%20emission" title=" acoustic emission"> acoustic emission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20fracture" title=" tensile fracture"> tensile fracture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20fracture" title=" shear fracture"> shear fracture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74760/physical-and-mechanical-phenomena-associated-with-rock-failure-in-brazilian-disc-specimens" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74760.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">475</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10100</span> Radial Distribution Network Reliability Improvement by Using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azim%20Khodadadi">Azim Khodadadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Sadaat%20Vakili"> Sahar Sadaat Vakili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ebrahim%20Babaei"> Ebrahim Babaei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study presents a numerical method to optimize the failure rate and repair time of a typical radial distribution system. Failure rate and repair time are effective parameters in customer and energy based indices of reliability. Decrease of these parameters improves reliability indices. Thus, system stability will be boost. The penalty functions indirectly reflect the cost of investment which spent to improve these indices. Constraints on customer and energy based indices, i.e. SAIFI, SAIDI, CAIDI and AENS have been considered by using a new method which reduces optimization algorithm controlling parameters. Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) used as main optimization technique and particle swarm optimization (PSO), simulated annealing (SA) and differential evolution (DE) has been applied for further investigation. These algorithms have been implemented on a test system by MATLAB. Obtained results have been compared with each other. The optimized values of repair time and failure rate are much lower than current values which this achievement reduced investment cost and also ICA gives better answer than the other used algorithms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=imperialist%20competitive%20algorithm" title="imperialist competitive algorithm">imperialist competitive algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20rate" title=" failure rate"> failure rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=repair%20time" title=" repair time"> repair time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radial%20distribution%20network" title=" radial distribution network"> radial distribution network</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27260/radial-distribution-network-reliability-improvement-by-using-imperialist-competitive-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27260.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">669</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10099</span> A Redesigned Pedagogy in Introductory Programming Reduces Failure and Withdrawal Rates by Half</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Said%20Fares">Said Fares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mary%20Fares"> Mary Fares</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It is well documented that introductory computer programming courses are difficult and that failure rates are high. Although great effort has been put onto the development of material and system reliability, the failure cases of fatal accidents still occur nowadays. Due to the complexity of the aviation system, and the interaction among the failure components, the failure analysis of the related equipment is a little difficult. This study focuses on surveying the failure cases in aviation, which are extracted from failure analysis journals, including Engineering Failure Analysis and Case studies in Engineering Failure Analysis, in order to obtain the failure sensitive factors or failure sensitive parts. The analytical results show that, among the failure cases, fatigue failure is the largest in number of occurrence. The most failed components are the disk, blade, landing gear, bearing, and fastener. The frequently failed materials consist of steel, aluminum alloy, superalloy, and titanium alloy. Therefore, in order to assure the safety in aviation, more attention should be paid to the fatigue failures. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerospace" title="aerospace">aerospace</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disk" title=" disk"> disk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20analysis" title=" failure analysis"> failure analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatigue" title=" fatigue"> fatigue</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77819/statistical-analysis-of-failure-cases-in-aerospace" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77819.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">332</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10097</span> Reliability and Probability Weighted Moment Estimation for Three Parameter Mukherjee-Islam Failure Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ariful%20Islam">Ariful Islam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Showkat%20Ahmad%20Lone"> Showkat Ahmad Lone</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Mukherjee-Islam Model is commonly used as a simple life time distribution to assess system reliability. The model exhibits a better fit for failure information and provides more appropriate information about hazard rate and other reliability measures as shown by various authors. It is possible to introduce a location parameter at a time (i.e., a time before which failure cannot occur) which makes it a more useful failure distribution than the existing ones. Even after shifting the location of the distribution, it represents a decreasing, constant and increasing failure rate. It has been shown to represent the appropriate lower tail of the distribution of random variables having fixed lower bound. This study presents the reliability computations and probability weighted moment estimation of three parameter model. A comparative analysis is carried out between three parameters finite range model and some existing bathtub shaped curve fitting models. Since probability weighted moment method is used, the results obtained can also be applied on small sample cases. Maximum likelihood estimation method is also applied in this study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=comparative%20analysis" title="comparative analysis">comparative analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20likelihood%20estimation" title=" maximum likelihood estimation"> maximum likelihood estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mukherjee-Islam%20failure%20model" title=" Mukherjee-Islam failure model"> Mukherjee-Islam failure model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=probability%20weighted%20moment%20estimation" title=" probability weighted moment estimation"> probability weighted moment estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title=" reliability"> reliability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74517/reliability-and-probability-weighted-moment-estimation-for-three-parameter-mukherjee-islam-failure-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74517.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10096</span> &#039;CardioCare&#039;: A Cutting-Edge Fusion of IoT and Machine Learning to Bridge the Gap in Cardiovascular Risk Management</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arpit%20Patil">Arpit Patil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atharav%20Bhagwat"> Atharav Bhagwat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajas%20Bhope"> Rajas Bhope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pramod%20Bide"> Pramod Bide</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research integrates IoT and ML to predict heart failure risks, utilizing the Framingham dataset. Developing countries are saddled with many project failures during the implementation of information systems. However, successful information systems are greatly needed in developing countries in order to enhance their economies. This paper is highly important in view of the high failure rate of information systems in developing countries which needs to be reduced to minimum acceptable levels by means of recommended interventions. This paper centres on a review of IS development in developing countries. The paper presents evidences of the IS successes and failures in developing countries and posits a model to address the IS failures. The proposed model can then be utilised by developing countries to reduce their IS project implementation failure rate. A comparison is drawn between IS development in developing countries and developed countries. The paper provides valuable information to assist in reducing IS failure, and developing IS models and theories on IS development for developing countries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=developing%20countries" title="developing countries">developing countries</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20systems" title=" information systems"> information systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IS%20development" title=" IS development"> IS development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20systems%20failure" title=" information systems failure"> information systems failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20systems%20success" title=" information systems success"> information systems success</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20systems%20success%20model" title=" information systems success model"> information systems success model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62798/a-review-of-information-systems-development-in-developing-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62798.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">380</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10094</span> Failure Localization of Bipolar Integrated Circuits by Implementing Active Voltage Contrast</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yiqiang%20Ni">Yiqiang Ni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuanlong%20Chen"> Xuanlong Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Enliang%20Li"> Enliang Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Linting%20Zheng"> Linting Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shizheng%20Yang"> Shizheng Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bipolar ICs are playing an important role in military applications, mainly used in logic gates, such as inverter and NAND gate. The defect of metal break located on the step is one of the main failure mechanisms of bipolar ICs, resulting in open-circuit or functional failure. In this situation, general failure localization methods like optical beam-induced resistance change (OBIRCH) and photon emission microscopy (PEM) might not be fully effective. However, active voltage contrast (AVC) can be used as a voltage probe, which may pinpoint the incorrect potential and thus locate the failure position. Two case studies will be present in this paper on how to implement AVC for failure localization, and the detailed failure mechanism will be discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bipolar%20IC" title="bipolar IC">bipolar IC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20localization" title=" failure localization"> failure localization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20break" title=" metal break"> metal break</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20failure" title=" open failure"> open failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=voltage%20contrast" title=" voltage contrast"> voltage contrast</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132527/failure-localization-of-bipolar-integrated-circuits-by-implementing-active-voltage-contrast" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132527.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">291</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10093</span> Strength Parameters and the Rate Process Theory Applied to Compacted Fadama Soils</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samuel%20Akinlabi%20Ola">Samuel Akinlabi Ola</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emeka%20Segun%20Nnochiri"> Emeka Segun Nnochiri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stephen%20Kayode%20Aderomose"> Stephen Kayode Aderomose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paul%20Ayesemhe%20Edoh"> Paul Ayesemhe Edoh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fadama soils of Northern Nigeria are generally a problem soil for highway and geotechnical engineers. There has been no consistent conclusion on the effect of the strain rate on the shear strength of soils, thus necessitating the need to clarify this issue with various types of soil. Consolidated undrained tests with pore pressure measurements were conducted at optimum moisture content and maximum dry density using standard proctor compaction. Back pressures were applied to saturate the soil. The shear strength parameters were determined. Analyzing the results and model studies using the Rate Process Theory, functional relationships between the deviator stress and strain rate were determined and expressed mathematically as deviator stress = β0+ β1 log(strain rate) at each cell pressure where β0 and β1 are constants. Also, functional relationships between the pore pressure coefficient Āf and the time to failure were determined and expressed mathematically as pore pressure coefficient, Āf = ψ0+ѱ1log (time to failure) where ψ0 and ѱ1 are constants. For cell pressure between 69 – 310 kN/m2 (10 - 45psi) the constants found for Fadama soil in this study are ψ0=0.17 and ѱ1=0.18. The study also shows the dependence of the angle of friction (ø’) on the rate of strain as it increases from 22o to 25o for an increase in the rate of strain from 0.08%/min to 1.0%/min. Conclusively, the study also shows that within the strain rate utilized in the research, the deviator strength increased with the strain rate while the excess pore water pressure decreased with an increase in the rate of strain. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deviator%20stress" title="deviator stress">deviator stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fadama%20soils" title=" Fadama soils"> Fadama soils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pore%20pressure%20coefficient" title=" pore pressure coefficient"> pore pressure coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rate%20process" title=" rate process"> rate process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171947/strength-parameters-and-the-rate-process-theory-applied-to-compacted-fadama-soils" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171947.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10092</span> Downside Risk Analysis of the Nigerian Stock Market: A Value at Risk Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Godwin%20Chigozie%20Okpara">Godwin Chigozie Okpara</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper using standard GARCH, EGARCH, and TARCH models on day of the week return series (of 246 days) from the Nigerian Stock market estimated the model variants’ VaR. An asymmetric return distribution and fat-tail phenomenon in financial time series were considered by estimating the models with normal, student t and generalized error distributions. The analysis based on Akaike Information Criterion suggests that the EGARCH model with student t innovation distribution can furnish more accurate estimate of VaR. In the light of this, we apply the likelihood ratio tests of proportional failure rates to VaR derived from EGARCH model in order to determine the short and long positions VaR performances. The result shows that as alpha ranges from 0.05 to 0.005 for short positions, the failure rate significantly exceeds the prescribed quintiles while it however shows no significant difference between the failure rate and the prescribed quantiles for long positions. This suggests that investors and portfolio managers in the Nigeria stock market have long trading position or can buy assets with concern on when the asset prices will fall. Precisely, the VaR estimates for the long position range from -4.7% for 95 percent confidence level to -10.3% for 99.5 percent confidence level. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=downside%20risk" title="downside risk">downside risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value-at-risk" title=" value-at-risk"> value-at-risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20rate" title=" failure rate"> failure rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kupiec%20LR%20tests" title=" kupiec LR tests"> kupiec LR tests</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GARCH%20models" title=" GARCH models "> GARCH models </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21471/downside-risk-analysis-of-the-nigerian-stock-market-a-value-at-risk-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21471.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">443</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10091</span> A Universal Approach to Categorize Failures in Production</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Konja%20Kn%C3%BCppel">Konja Knüppel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerrit%20Meyer"> Gerrit Meyer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peter%20Nyhuis"> Peter Nyhuis</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The increasing interconnectedness and complexity of production processes raise the susceptibility of production systems to failure. We felt it pertinent to analyze 30-day readmission causes and outcomes among patients with HCF-19 using the United States using real-world big data via the National readmission database. Objective: The aim is to describe the rate and causes of readmissions and morbidity of heart failure with coinciding COVID-19 (HFC-19) in the United States, using the 2020 National Readmission Database (NRD). Methods: A descriptive, retrospective study was conducted on the 2020 NRD, a nationally representative sample of all US hospitalizations. Adult (>18 years) inpatient admissions with COVID-19 with HF and readmissions in 30 days were selected based on the International Classification of Diseases-Tenth Revision, Procedure Code. Results: In 2020, 2,60,372 adult patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and HF. The median age was 74 (IQR: 64-83), and 47% were female. The median length of stay was 7(4-13) days, and the total cost of stay was 62,025 (31,956 – 130,670) United States dollars, respectively. Among the index hospital admissions, 61,527 (23.6%) died, and 22,794 (11.5%) were readmitted within 30 days. The median age of patients readmitted in 30 days was 73 (63-82), 45% were female, and 1,962 (16%) died. The most common principal diagnosis for readmission in these patients was COVID-19= 34.8%, Sepsis= 16.5%, HF = 7.1%, AKI = 2.2%, respiratory failure with hypoxia =1.7%, and Pneumonia = 1%. Conclusion: The rate of readmission in patients with heart failure exacerbations is increasing yearly. COVID-19 was observed to be the most common principal diagnosis in patients readmitted within 30 days. Complicated hypertension, chronic pulmonary disease, complicated diabetes, renal failure, alcohol use, drug use, and peripheral vascular disorders are risk factors associated with readmission. Familiarity with the most common causes and predictors for readmission helps guide the development of initiatives to minimize adverse outcomes and the cost of medical care. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Covid-19" title="Covid-19">Covid-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure" title=" heart failure"> heart failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=national%20readmission%20database" title=" national readmission database"> national readmission database</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=readmission%20outcomes" title=" readmission outcomes"> readmission outcomes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162273/covid-19-and-heart-failure-outcomes-readmission-insights-from-the-2020-united-states-national-readmission-database" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162273.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">79</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10088</span> Failure Cases Analysis in Petrochemical Industry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20W.%20Liu">S. The improvement of petrochemical safety is highly requested in order to prevent re-occurrence of severe accident. This study focuses on surveying the failure cases occurred in petrochemical field, which were extracted from journals of engineering failure, including engineering failure analysis and case studies in engineering failure analysis. The relation of failure mode, failure mechanism, type of components, and type of materials was analyzed in this study. And the analytical results showed that failures occurred more frequently in vessels and piping among the petrochemical equipment. Moreover, equipment made of carbon steel and stainless steel accounts for the majority of failures compared to other materials. This may be related to the application of the equipment and the performance of the material. In addition, corrosion failures were the largest in number of occurrence in the failure of petrochemical equipment, in which stress corrosion cracking accounts for a large proportion. This may have a lot to do with the service environment of the petrochemical equipment. Therefore, it can be concluded that the corrosion prevention of petrochemical equipment is particularly important. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cases%20analysis" title="cases analysis">cases analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corrosion" title=" corrosion"> corrosion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure" title=" failure"> failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petrochemical%20industry" title=" petrochemical industry"> petrochemical industry</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77797/failure-cases-analysis-in-petrochemical-industry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77797.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">307</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10087</span> Performance Assessment of Three Unit Redundant System with Environmental and Human Failure Using Copula Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V.%20V.%20Singh">V. The subsystem-1 has three identical units in parallel configuration and operating under 2-out-of-3: G policy and connected to subsystem-2 in series configuration. Each subsystem has different types of failure and repair rates. An important cause for failure of system is unsuitability of the environmental conditions, like overheating, weather conditions, heavy rainfall, storm etc. The environmental failure is taken into account in the proposed repairable system. Supplementary variable technique is used to study of system and some traditional measures such as; availability, reliability, MTTF and profit function are obtained for different values of parameters. The failure occurred once after four years at the internal surface of Platforming elbow. Both visual and microscopic examinations revealed that the failure was initiated due to blistering forming followed by large cracking at the inner surface. Crack morphology showed that the crack depth was about 50% of material wall thickness and its behavior generally was intergranular. This study concluded that the main reason led to failure due to incorrect material selection comparing to the platforming conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decarburization" title="decarburization">decarburization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure" title=" failure"> failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20affected%20zone" title=" heat affected zone"> heat affected zone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology" title=" morphology"> morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20pressure" title=" partial pressure"> partial pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plate%20form" title=" plate form"> plate form</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97396/a-failure-investigations-of-high-temperature-hydrogen-attack-at-plat-forming-unit-furnace-elbow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">156</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10085</span> Overview on the Failure in the Multiphase Mechanical Seal in Centrifugal Pumps</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aydin%20Azizi">Aydin Azizi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Al.%20Azizi"> Ahmed Al. Some of the factors that have been recognized to their failure include excessive heating, open seal faces, as well as environment related factors that trigger failure of the materials used to manufacture seals. The proposed research study will explore the failure of multiphase mechanical seal in centrifugal pumps. In both topologies BUS topology and STAR topology, we have assumed 'n' clients. The system has two types of failure partial failure and complete failure. Further the partial failure has been categorized as minor partial failure and major partial failure. It is assumed that minor partial failure degrades the subsystem and the major partial failure brings the subsystem to break down mode. The system can completely failed due to failure of server hacking and blocking etc. The system is studied by supplementary variable technique and Laplace transform by taking different types of failure and two types of repairs. This qualitative study explored small business failure by comparing the experiences of small-business owners to understand their involvement with leadership during the early stages of the business, and the impact of this on the firms’ ability to survive. Participants’ experiences from two groups were compared to glean an understanding of the leadership process, how leadership differs between the groups, and to see what themes or constructs emerged that could help to explain the high failure rate. Leadership was perceived to be important when envisioning a path for the future and when providing a platform for employees to succeed. Those who embraced leadership as a skillset were more likely to get through the challenges of the early developmental years while those ignoring the importance of leadership were more likely to close prematurely. These findings suggest a disconnect with regards to the understanding, role, and benefits of leadership in small organizations, particularly young organizations in the early stages of development. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leadership" title="leadership">leadership</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=small%20business" title=" small business"> small business</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entrepreneurship" title=" entrepreneurship"> entrepreneurship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=success" title=" success"> success</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure" title=" failure"> failure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83853/a-study-of-small-business-failure-impact-of-leadership-and-the-leadership-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83853.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">252</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10082</span> The Relationship between Self-Care Behaviour and Quality of Life Among Heart Failure Patients in Jakarta, Indonesia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shedy%20Maharani%20Nariswari">Shedy Maharani Nariswari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prima%20Agustia%20Nova"> Prima Agustia Nova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=I.%20Made%20Kariasa"> I. Heart Failure (HF) is a chronic and progressive condition associated with significant morbidity, mortality, health care expenditures, and a high readmission rate over the years. Self‐care is essential to manage chronic heart failure in the long term, and it is related to better outcomes and can enhance the quality of life. Objective. The aims of this study were to describe the relationship between self-care behavior and quality of life among heart failure patients in East Jakarta, Indonesia. Methods. This study used a correlational-descriptive design with a cross-sectional study, the sampling method used purposive sampling method. Self-care was measured using Self-care Heart Failure Index version 6.2, and quality of life was measured using The Minnesota Living with Heart Failure. Pearson correlation and Spearman-rho correlations are used to analyze the data. Results. We recruited 103 patients with HF in both outpatient and inpatient ward: mean age 59.26 ± 11.643 years, 63.1% male. Patients with higher levels of education were associated with higher self-care maintenance (p= 0.007). The patient's average quality of life is quite high, with a score of 72,07 ± 16,89. There were a significant relationship among self-care maintenance (r=0,305, p=0,001), self-care management (r=0,330, p=0,001), and self-care confidence (r=0,335, p=0,001) towards the quality of life. Most participants have inadequate self-care maintenance, self-care management, and self-care confidence (score < 70), while the score of quality of life is categorized as poor. Conclusion. The self-care behaviors were limited among patients living with HF in Indonesia yet was associated with better quality of life. It is necessary to promote health related to knowledge and adherence to self-care behavior so that it can improve the quality of life of heart failure patients. This study can be used as a reference to promote self-care among patients with heart failure, it can help to enhance their quality of life. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure" title="heart failure">heart failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-care%20maintenance" title=" self-care maintenance"> self-care maintenance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-care%20management" title=" self-care management"> self-care management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-care%20confidence" title=" self-care confidence"> self-care confidence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20of%20life" title=" quality of life"> quality of life</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155825/the-relationship-between-self-care-behaviour-and-quality-of-life-among-heart-failure-patients-in-jakarta-indonesia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155825.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">106</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10081</span> Estimation of Chronic Kidney Disease Using Artificial Neural Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilker%20Ali%20Ozkan">Ilker Ali Ozkan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, an artificial neural network model has been developed to estimate chronic kidney failure which is a common disease. CDTM allows specialized, dedicated clinical pharmacists in a formal agreement in collaborative practice with physicians. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the role of cardiology clinical pharmacists in CDTM in decreasing hospitalization and cost. We studied patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction in a cluster-randomized selection in a tertiary care center. We allocated 296 patients to pharmacist intervention from 1480 patients. Results: With an acceptance rate of 86%, we documented 696 interventions carried out by clinical pharmacists in cardiology. The average intervention was 2.4 patients, and the admission after interventions decreased from 0.79 to. 0.24 (p value = 0.001). Conclusions: In HF CDTM, clinical pharmacists play a crucial role in enhancing medication management, patient education, and lifestyle modification of patients with chronic heart failure. These efforts improve patients' outcomes and lower costs by reducing hospitalization and other associated expenses. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiology" title="cardiology">cardiology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medication%20management" title=" medication management"> medication management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure" title=" heart failure"> heart failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=outpatient%20therapy" title=" outpatient therapy"> outpatient therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pharmacist-based%20services" title=" pharmacist-based services"> pharmacist-based services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chronic%20heart%20failure" title=" chronic heart failure"> chronic heart failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure%20recommendations" title=" heart failure recommendations"> heart failure recommendations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CDTM" title=" CDTM"> CDTM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Middle%20East" title=" Middle East"> Middle East</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pharmacist-based%20services" title=" pharmacist-based services"> pharmacist-based services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20of%20life" title=" quality of life"> quality of life</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pharmacist" title=" pharmacist"> pharmacist</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168137/the-role-of-clinical-pharmacist-intervention-in-collaborative-drug-therapy-management-to-improve-outcomes-and-decrease-hospitalization-in-heart-failure-clinic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168137.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">69</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10079</span> Characterization of Internet Exchange Points by Using Quantitative Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yamba%20Dabone">Yamba Dabone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tounwendyam%20Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric%20Ouedraogo"> Tounwendyam Frédéric Ouedraogo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pengwend%C3%A9%20Justin%20Kouraogo"> Pengwendé Justin Kouraogo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oumarou%20Sie"> Oumarou Sie</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Reliable data transport over the Internet is one of the goals of researchers in the field of computer science. Data such as videos and audio files are becoming increasingly large. As a result, transporting them over the Internet is becoming difficult. Therefore, it has been important to establish a method to locally interconnect autonomous systems (AS) with each other to facilitate traffic exchange. It is in this context that Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) are set up to facilitate local and even regional traffic. They are now the lifeblood of the Internet. Therefore, it is important to think about the factors that can characterize IXPs. However, other more quantifiable characteristics can help determine the quality of an IXP. In addition, these characteristics may allow ISPs to have a clearer view of the exchange node and may also convince other networks to connect to an IXP. To that end, we define five new IXP characteristics: the attraction rate (τₐₜₜᵣ); and the peering rate (τₚₑₑᵣ); the target rate of an IXP (Objₐₜₜ); the number of IXP links (Nₗᵢₙₖ); the resistance rate τₑ𝒻𝒻 and the attraction failure rate (τ𝒻). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=characteristic" title="characteristic">characteristic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autonomous%20system" title=" autonomous system"> autonomous system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internet%20service%20provider" title=" internet service provider"> internet service provider</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internet%20exchange%20point" title=" internet exchange point"> internet exchange point</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rate" title=" rate"> rate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154515/characterization-of-internet-exchange-points-by-using-quantitative-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154515.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">94</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10078</span> Implantology Failure: Epidemiological Survey among Tunisian Dentists</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faten%20Khanfir">Faten Khanfir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Tlili"> Mohamed Tlili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Medeb%20Hamrouni"> Ali Medeb Hamrouni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raki%20Selmi"> Raki Selmi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20S.%20Khalfi"> M. Results: significant correlations were found between failure rates > 5 and their corresponding factors as the number of implants placed (p = 0.001<0, 05), smoking (0.046 <0.05), unbalanced diabetes (0.03<0.05), aseptic protocol (= 0.004< 0.05) and the drilling speed (0,002<0.05) Conclusion: It seems that the number of implant placed, smoking, diabetes, aseptic protocol, and the drilling speed may contribute to dental implant failure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure" title="failure">failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=implants" title=" implants"> implants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=survey" title=" survey"> survey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk" title=" risk"> risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=osseointegration" title=" osseointegration"> osseointegration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144098/implantology-failure-epidemiological-survey-among-tunisian-dentists" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144098.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">183</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10077</span> Toxicities associated with EBRT and Brachytherapy for Intermediate and High Risk Prostate Cancer, Correlated with Intra-operative Dosing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rebecca%20Dunne">Rebecca Dunne</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cormac%20Small"> Cormac Small</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Geraldine%20O%27Boyle"> Geraldine O&#039;Boyle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nazir%20Ibrahim"> Nazir Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anisha"> Anisha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers. It is estimated that approximately 12% of men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime. Patients with intermediate, high risk, and very-high risk prostate cancer often undergo a combination of radiation treatments. These treatments include external beam radiotherapy with a low-dose rate or high-dose rate brachytherapy boost, often with concomitant androgen deprivation therapy. The literature on follow-up of patients that receive brachytherapy is scarce, particularly follow-up of patients that undergo high-dose rate brachytherapy. This retrospective study aims to investigate the biochemical failure and toxicities associated with triple therapy and external beam radiotherapy given in combination with brachytherapy. Reported toxicities and prostate specific antigen (PSA) were retrospectively evaluated in eighty patients that previously underwent external beam radiotherapy with a low-dose rate or high dose-rate brachytherapy boost. The severity of toxicities were correlated with intra-operative dosing during brachytherapy on ultrasound and CT scan. The results of this study will provide further information for clinicians and patients when considering treatment options. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toxicities" title="toxicities">toxicities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=combination" title=" combination"> combination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brachytherapy" title=" brachytherapy"> brachytherapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intra-operative%20dosing" title=" intra-operative dosing"> intra-operative dosing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochemical%20failure" title=" biochemical failure"> biochemical failure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140057/toxicities-associated-with-ebrt-and-brachytherapy-for-intermediate-and-high-risk-prostate-cancer-correlated-with-intra-operative-dosing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140057.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">243</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10076</span> The Survey of Relationship between Health Literacy and Knowledge of Heart Failure with Rehospitalization in Patients with Heart Failure Admitted to Heart Failure Clinic</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaleh%20Mohammad%20Aliha">Jaleh Mohammad Aliha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rezvan%20Razazi"> Rezvan Razazi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nasim%20Naderi"> Nasim Naderi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Despite the progress in new effective drugs in the treatment of heart failure, the disease still accompanied with frequent hospitalization, impaired quality of life, early mortality and significant economic burden. Patients with chronic disease and consequently patients with heart failure need the knowledge and optimal health literacy to improve the quality of life and minimize the rate of rehopitalizatio. So, considering to importance of knowledge and health literacy in this patients as well as contradictory literature, this study conducted to investigate the relationship between health literacy and Knowledge of heart failure with rehospitalization in patients with heart failure admitted to heart failure clinic in Rajai Heart center in 1394. Methods: The cross-sectional method with convenience sampling method was used in this study. After obtaining the necessary permissions from the ethics committee and the Shahid Rajai Heart center, 238 patients who were older than 18 years and had ejection fraction 35% or less with the ability to read and write and lack of psychiatric, neurological and cognitive disorders and signed the informed consent were recruited. Data collection were perfomed through demographic data questionnaire, short standard health literacy questionnaire 'Short-TOFHLA-16' and Vanderwall (2005) knowledge of heart failure questionnaire. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency method and Cronbach's alpha for both questionnaires was more than 0.7. Then data were analysed by SPSS-20 with descriptive statistic and analytical statistic such as T-test, Chi-square and ANOVA. Results: The majority of patients were male (66%), married (80%) and had age between 50 to 70 years old (42%). The majority of studied men and women have good health literacy and About half of them have adequate knowledge about heart failure. Fisher's exact test showed that there was a significant statistical correlation between health literacy and knowlegh about heart failure. In other words, higher health literacy associated with more knowledge about their condition. Also findings showed that there was no significant statistical correlation between health literacy and knowledge about heart failure and frequency of CCU and emergency admissions. Conclusion: The study results showed that the higher health literacy, associated with the greater knowledge about heart failure and patients' perception about caring recommendations and disease outcomes. Therefore, the knowledge about heart failure and factors which related to severity of the disease, is the important issue to problem identification and treatment and reduction of rehospitalization. <p
