The Field experiment compared the growth regulator response of seven isogenic lines of Mercia. Growth regulators reduced plant height significantly in all lines. Growth regulator decreased total dry matter and grain yield with greatest reduction generally for the control and Rht8 lines. Rht1 was the least affected. There were few significant effects of growth regulator on gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence but the trend was for greater values with growth regulator. In this field experiment, a rate of 2.0 l ha-1 applied just before the third node detectable stage under non water stressed and water stressed conditions gave slight increases in yield of up to 14% except for line Rht10 which increased significantly in non-stressed conditions. In the second glasshouse experiment, a rate of 2.5 l ha-1 applied at the start of stem elongation under 30% FC and 100% FC gave reductions in yield up to 16% for the growth regulator and 55% under water stress. In the field experiment, rates of 2.5 and 3.0 l ha-1 applied at the start of stem elongation gave reductions in yield up to 20% mainly through individual seed weight. In the final glasshouse experiment, rates of 2.5 and 3.0 l ha-1 applied at 6 leaves unfolded and 1st node detectable both reduced grain yield. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth%20regulator" title="growth regulator">growth regulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=irrigation" title=" irrigation"> irrigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=isogenic%20lines" title=" isogenic lines"> isogenic lines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield" title=" yield"> yield</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=winter%20wheat" title=" winter wheat"> winter wheat</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27090/effect-of-plant-growth-regulator-on-vegetative-growth-and-yield-components-of-winter-wheat-under-different-levels-of-irrigation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27090.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">460</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10633</span> Experimental Investigation of the Thermal Performance of Fe2O3 under Magnetic Field in an Oscillating Heat Pipe</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20R.%20Goshayeshi">H. If classical physics is an approximation of quantum physics, then quantum entanglement should persist at a macroscopic scale. In this paper, a thought experiment is presented where a free falling spin polarized Bose-Einstein condensate interacts with a quantum superimposed magnetic field of nonzero gradient. In contrast to the semiclassical Stern-Gerlach experiment, the magnetic field and the spin degrees of freedom both are considered to be quantum mechanical in a generalized scenario. As a consequence, a Bose-Einstein condensate can be prepared at distinct locations in space in a sense of quantum superposition. In addition, the generation of Schrodinger-cat like quantum states shall be presented. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Schrodinger-cat%20quantum%20states" title="Schrodinger-cat quantum states">Schrodinger-cat quantum states</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=macroscopic%20entanglement" title=" macroscopic entanglement"> macroscopic entanglement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=macroscopic%20quantum%20fields" title=" macroscopic quantum fields"> macroscopic quantum fields</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=foundations%20of%20quantum%20physics" title=" foundations of quantum physics"> foundations of quantum physics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74746/stern-gerlach-force-in-quantum-magnetic-field-and-schrodingers-cat" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74746.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10630</span> Multitasking Incentives and Employee Performance: Evidence from Call Center Field Experiments and Laboratory Experiments</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sung%20Ham">Sung Ham</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chanho%20Song"> Chanho Song</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiabin%20Wu"> Jiabin Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Employees are commonly incentivized on both quantity and quality performance and much of the extant literature focuses on demonstrating that multitasking incentives lead to tradeoffs. Alternatively, we consider potential solutions to the tradeoff problem from both a theoretical and an experimental perspective. Across two field experiments from a call center, we find that tradeoffs can be mitigated when incentives are jointly enhanced across tasks, where previous research has suggested that incentives be reduced instead of enhanced. In addition, we also propose and test, in a laboratory setting, the implications of revising the metric used to assess quality. Our results indicate that metrics can be adjusted to align quality and quantity more efficiently. Thus, this alignment has the potential to thwart the classic tradeoff problem. Finally, we validate our findings with an economic experiment that verifies that effort is largely consistent with our theoretical predictions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=incentives" title="incentives">incentives</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multitasking" title=" multitasking"> multitasking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20experiment" title=" field experiment"> field experiment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimental%20economics" title=" experimental economics"> experimental economics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88721/multitasking-incentives-and-employee-performance-evidence-from-call-center-field-experiments-and-laboratory-experiments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88721.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">159</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10629</span> Localization of Near Field Radio Controlled Unintended Emitting Sources </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurbanu%20Guzey">Nurbanu Guzey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Jagannathan"> S. Weak nature of these emissions requires near field localization approach since it is hard to detect these signals in far field region of array. Instead of only angle estimation, near field localization also requires range estimation of the source which makes this method more complicated than far field models. Challenges of locating such devices in a near field region and real time environment are analyzed in this paper. An ESPRIT like near field localization scheme is utilized for both angle and range estimation. 1-D search with symmetric subarrays is provided. Two 7 element uniform linear antenna arrays (ULA) are employed for locating RC source. Experiment results of location estimation for one unintended emitting walkie-talkie for different positions are given. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=localization" title="localization">localization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=angle%20of%20arrival%20%28AoA%29" title=" angle of arrival (AoA)"> angle of arrival (AoA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=range%20estimation" title=" range estimation"> range estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=array%20signal%20processing" title=" array signal processing"> array signal processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ESPRIT" title=" ESPRIT"> ESPRIT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Uniform%20Linear%20Array%20%28ULA%29" title=" Uniform Linear Array (ULA)"> Uniform Linear Array (ULA)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22966/localization-of-near-field-radio-controlled-unintended-emitting-sources" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22966.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">526</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10628</span> Paying Less and Getting More: Evidence on the Effect of Corporate Purpose from Two Natural Field Experiments</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nikolai%20Brosch">Nikolai Brosch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alwine%20Mohnen"> Alwine Mohnen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Academics and business leaders increasingly call for a (re)definition of a corporate purpose beyond profit-maximization to contribute to the welfare of society. This study investigates the effect of communicating such a pro-social corporate purpose on three employee-level outcomes that constitute major cost components for most organizations: workers reservation wage, work quality, and work misbehavior. To provide causal evidence, two natural field experiments were conducted with almost 2,000 workers recruited from different online labor marketplaces. Workers were randomly assigned to treatments manipulating whether or not they received information about the employer’s corporate purpose and subsequently performed a short, real-effort task for payment. The main findings in both experiments show that receiving information about an employer’s pro-social corporate purpose causes workers to accept lower wages (9% lower in the first experiment and 28% lower in the second experiment) for the same job. Workers that personally assess high importance to organizations having a pro-social purpose are most responsive. At the same time, sacrificing wage for a corporate purpose comes at no cost of quality and even decreases the likelihood of engaging in work misbehavior. In a broader context, the results provide some evidence that the (re)definition of corporate purpose in commercial organizations is not ultimately at odds with creating profits. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20purpose" title="corporate purpose">corporate purpose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20field%20experiment" title=" natural field experiment"> natural field experiment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reservation%20wage" title=" reservation wage"> reservation wage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=work%20misbehavior" title=" work misbehavior"> work misbehavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=work%20quality" title=" work quality"> work quality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133629/paying-less-and-getting-more-evidence-on-the-effect-of-corporate-purpose-from-two-natural-field-experiments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133629.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10627</span> Exploring the Impacts of Field of View on 3D Game Experiences and Task Performances</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiunde%20Lee">Jiunde Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meng-Yu%20Wun"> Meng-Yu Wun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present study attempted to explore how the range differences of ‘Geometric Field of Vision’ (GFOV) and differences in camera control in 3D simulation games, OMSI—The Bus Simulator of the 2013 PC version, affected players’ cognitive load, anxiety, and task performances. The study employed a between-subjects factorial experimental design. A total of 80 subjects completed experiment whose data were eligible for further analysis. The results of this study showed that in the difference of field of view, players had better task performances in a spacious view. Although cognitive resources consumed more of the players’ ‘mental demand,’ ‘physical demand’, and ‘temporal demand’, they had better performances in the experiment, and their anxiety was effectively reduced. On the other hand, in the narrow GFOV, players thought they spent more cognitive resources on ‘effort’ and ‘frustration degree,’ and had worse task performances, but it was not significant enough to reduce their anxiety. In terms of difference of camera control, players had worse performances since the fixed lens restricted their dexterous control. However, there was no significant difference in the players’ subjective cognitive resources or anxiety. The results further illustrated that task performances were affected by the interaction of GFOV and camera control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geometric%20field%20of%20view" title="geometric field of view">geometric field of view</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=camera%20lens" title=" camera lens"> camera lens</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20load" title=" cognitive load"> cognitive load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anxiety" title=" anxiety"> anxiety</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97183/exploring-the-impacts-of-field-of-view-on-3d-game-experiences-and-task-performances" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97183.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">149</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10626</span> Determination of Carbofuran Residue in Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) and Soil of Brinjal Field</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20Islam">R. The UA9 experiment investigates how a tiny silicon bent crystal (few millimeters long) can be used for various high-energy physics applications. Due to the huge electrostatic field (tens of GV/cm) between crystalline planes, there is a probability for charged particles, impinging the crystal, to be trapped in the channeling regime. It gives a possibility to steer a high intensity and momentum beam by bending the crystal: channeled particles will follow the crystal curvature and deflect on the certain angle (from tens microradians for LHC to few milliradians for SPS energy ranges). The measurements at SPS, performed in 2017 and 2018, confirmed that the protons deflected by the first crystal, inserted in the primary beam halo, can be caught and channeled by the second crystal. In this configuration, we measure the single pass deflection efficiency of the second crystal and prove our opportunity to perform the fixed target experiment at SPS accelerator (LHC in the future). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channeling" title="channeling">channeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=double-crystal%20setup" title=" double-crystal setup"> double-crystal setup</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fixed%20target%20experiment" title=" fixed target experiment"> fixed target experiment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Timepix%20detector" title=" Timepix detector"> Timepix detector</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101941/performances-of-the-double-crystal-setup-at-cern-sps-accelerator-for-physics-beyond-colliders-experiments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101941.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">151</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10624</span> Productivity and Profitability of Field Pea as Influenced by Different Levels of Fertility and Bio-Fertilizers under Irrigated Condition</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akhilesh%20Mishra">Akhilesh Mishra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Geeta%20Rai"> Geeta Rai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arvind%20Srivastava"> Arvind Srivastava</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nalini%20Tiwari"> Nalini Tiwari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A field experiment was conducted during two consecutive Rabi seasons of 2007 and 2008 to study the economics of different bio-fertilizer’s inoculations in fieldpea (cv. Jai) at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (India). Results indicated that the seed inoculation with Rhizobium + PSB + PGPR improved all the growth; yield attributes and yields of field pea. Fresh and dry weight plant-1, nodules number and dry weight plant-1 were found significantly maximum. Number of grains pod-1, number and weight of pods plant-1 at maturity attributed significantly in increasing the grain yield as well as net return. On pooled basis, maximum net income (Rs.22169 ha-1) was obtained with the use of Rhizobium + PSB + PGPR which was improved by a margin of Rs.1502 (6.77%), 2972 (13.40%), 2672 (12.05%), 5212 (23.51%), 6176 (27.85%), 4666 (21.04%) and 8842/ha (39.88%) over the inoculation of PSB + PGPR, Rhizobium + PGPR, Rhizobium + PSB, PGPR, PSB, Rhizobium and control, respectively. Thus, it can be recommended that to earn the maximum net profit from dwarf field pea, seed should be inoculated with Rhizobium + PSB + PGPR. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhizobium" title="rhizobium">rhizobium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phosphorus%20solubilizing%20bacteria" title=" phosphorus solubilizing bacteria"> phosphorus solubilizing bacteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plant%20growth%20promoting%20rhizobacteria" title=" plant growth promoting rhizobacteria"> plant growth promoting rhizobacteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20pea" title=" field pea"> field pea</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10422/productivity-and-profitability-of-field-pea-as-influenced-by-different-levels-of-fertility-and-bio-fertilizers-under-irrigated-condition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10422.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">409</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10623</span> Application of Waterflooding Technique in Petroleum Reservoir</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khwaja%20Naweed%20Seddiqi">Khwaja Naweed Seddiqi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hydrocarbon resources are important for the redevelopment and sustainable progress of Afghanistan’s infrastructure. This was done with a view to ascertaining how the field capacity and field efficiency were affected by the turmeric rhizome lengths and tractor operational speed. The turmeric rhizome planter consists of trapezoidal hopper, grooved cylindrical metering devise, rectangular frame, ground wheels made of mild steel, furrow opener, chain/sprocket drive system, three linkage point seed delivery tube and press wheel. The experiment was randomized in a factorial design of three levels of rhizome lengths (30, 45 and 60 mm) and operational speeds of 8, 10, and 12 kmh-1. About 3 kg cleaned turmeric rhizomes were introduced into each hopper of the planter and were planted 30 m2 of experimental plot. During the field evaluation of the planter, the effective field capacity, field efficiency, missing index, multiple index and percentage rhizome bruise were evaluated. 30.08% was recorded for maximum percentage bruise on the rhizome. The mean effective field capacity ranged between 0.63 – 0.96hah-1 at operational speeds of 8 and 12kmh-1 respectively and 45 mm rhizome length. The result also shows that the mean efficiency was obtained to be 65.8%. The percentage rhizome bruise decreases with increase in operational speed. The highest and lowest percentage turmeric rhizome miss index of 35% were recorded for turmeric rhizome length of 30 mm at a speed of 10 kmhr-1 and 8 kmhr-1, respectively. The potential implications of the experimental result is to determine the optimal machine process conditions for higher field capacity and gross reduction in mechanical injury (bruise) of planted turmeric rhizomes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhizome%20sizes" title="rhizome sizes">rhizome sizes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=operational%20speed" title=" operational speed"> operational speed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20capacity.%20field%20efficiency" title=" field capacity. field efficiency"> field capacity. field efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=turmeric%20rhizome" title=" turmeric rhizome"> turmeric rhizome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planter" title=" planter"> planter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184389/influence-of-different-rhizome-sizes-and-operational-speed-on-the-field-capacity-and-efficiency-of-a-three-row-turmeric-rhizome-planter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184389.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10621</span> Field Effects on Seed Germination of Phaseolus Vulgaris, Early Seedling Growth and Chemical Composition</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Najafi%20S.">Najafi S.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heidai%20R."> Heidai R.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamei%20R."> Jamei R.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tofigh%20F."> Tofigh F.</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to study the effects of magnetic field on the root system and growth of Phaseolus vulgaris, an experiment was conducted in 2012. However, building laboratories to accommodate increased number of students are expensive, making it impossible for an educational institution to afford the high expenses. In this paper, we develop a low cost and remote platform to aid teaching undergraduate students. The platform is constructed where the real experiment setting up in laboratory can be reconfigure and accessed remotely, the aim is to increase student’s desire to learn at which they can interact with the physical experiment using network enabled devices at anywhere in the campus. The platform is constructed with Raspberry Pi as a main control board that provides communication between computer interfaces to the actual experiment preset in the laboratory. The interface allows real-time remote viewing and triggering the physical experiment in the laboratory and also provides instructions and learning guide about the experimental. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=engineering%20lab" title="engineering lab">engineering lab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20cost" title=" low cost"> low cost</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network" title=" network"> network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=remote%20platform" title=" remote platform"> remote platform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reconfigure" title=" reconfigure"> reconfigure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real-time" title=" real-time"> real-time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57759/a-low-cost-and-reconfigurable-experimental-platform-for-engineering-lab-education" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57759.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10618</span> Appropriate Nutrient Management for Wheat Production in Afghanistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azizurahman%20Sakhizadah">Azizurahman Sakhizadah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tsugiyuki%20Masunaga"> Tsugiyuki Masunaga</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The use of sulfur fertilizer by Afghanistan farmers for wheat production has never been practiced, although sulfur deficiency has been expected for wheat production. A field experiment was conducted at Poza e Ishan Research Station Farm, Baghlan province, Afghanistan to examine the effect of sulfur fertilizer on growth and yield components of wheat. The experiment was laid out in randomize complete block design (RCBD), having three replications and eight treatments. The initial soil of experiment was alkaline (pH8.4), with textural class of sandy clay loam, available sulfur (40.8) mg kg-1, and Olsen-P (28.8) mg kg-1. Wheat variety, Kabul 013 was cultivated from November 2015 to June 2016. The recommended doses of nitrogen and Phosphors (Urea and DAP at 250 and 125 kg ha-1) were applied by broadcasting except control plot. Sulfur was applied by foliar spray (K2 SO4) at the rate of 10, 20, and 30 kg ha-1, split at tillering and flowering stages. The results demonstrated that sulfur application positively influenced on growth and yield of wheat crop with combination of nitrogen. Plant did not respond to sole sulfur application. Plant height, spike length, spikelet's number spike-1, were increased and yield g m-2 was also increased by 1.2, 19.1 and 25.1 % for 10, 20 and 30 kg sulfur ha-1 application. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sulfur" title="sulfur">sulfur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nitrogen" title=" nitrogen"> nitrogen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wheat" title=" wheat"> wheat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=foliar" title=" foliar"> foliar</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88926/appropriate-nutrient-management-for-wheat-production-in-afghanistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88926.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10617</span> A Comparative Analysis of a Custom Optimization Experiment with Confidence Intervals in Anylogic and Optquest</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Felipe%20Haro">Felipe Haro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soheila%20Antar"> Soheila Antar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper introduces a custom optimization experiment developed in AnyLogic, based on genetic algorithms, designed to ensure reliable optimization results by incorporating Montecarlo simulations and achieving a specified confidence level. The results demonstrate that while the custom experiment shows advantages in certain scenarios, both methods perform comparably in others, confirming the custom approach as a reliable and effective tool for optimization under uncertainty. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimization" title="optimization">optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confidence%20intervals" title=" confidence intervals"> confidence intervals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Montecarlo%20simulation" title=" Montecarlo simulation"> Montecarlo simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optQuest" title=" optQuest"> optQuest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AnyLogic" title=" AnyLogic"> AnyLogic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193080/a-comparative-analysis-of-a-custom-optimization-experiment-with-confidence-intervals-in-anylogic-and-optquest" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193080.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">19</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10616</span> Failure to Replicate the Unconscious Thought Advantages</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vladim%C3%ADra%20%C4%8Cavojov%C3%A1">Vladimíra Čavojová</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eva%20Ballov%C3%A1%20Miku%C5%A1kov%C3%A1"> Eva Ballová Mikušková</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study we tried to replicate the unconscious thought advantage (UTA), which states that complex decisions are better handled by unconscious thinking. However, the yield and productivity of the crop have been far below the world average. This is due to several factors, including appropriate agronomic practices, such as time of earthing-up and inflorescence management. A field experiment was conducted at Jimma, Southwest Ethiopia, during 2016/17 under irrigation to determine the effect of time of earthing-up and inflorescence removal on the growth, yield, and quality of potatoes. The treatments consisted of a time of earthing-up (no earthing-up, earthing-up at 15, 30, and 45 days after complete plant emergence) and inflorescence removal (inflorescence removed and not removed). Potato variety (Belete) was used for this experiment. A 2x4 factorial experiment was laid out with three replications. Data collected on the growth, yield, and quality components of potatoes were analyzed using SAS Version 9.3 statistical software. Inflorescence removal affected the majority of the growth and yield parameters, while the time of earthing-up affected all growth, yield, and quality (green tuber number) parameters. Earthing-up at 15 days in combination with inflorescence removal (at 60 days after complete plant emergence) gave better plant growth and maximum tuber yield of the Belete potato variety under irrigated conditions. Since the current research was conducted at one location, in one season, and with one potato cultivar (Belete), it would be advisable to repeat the experiment so as to arrive at a final conclusion and subsequent recommendation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Belete" title="Belete">Belete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earthing-up" title=" earthing-up"> earthing-up</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inflorescence" title=" inflorescence"> inflorescence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield" title=" yield"> yield</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167985/effect-of-inflorescence-removal-and-earthing-up-times-on-growth-and-yield-of-potato-solanum-tuberosum-l-at-jimma-southwestern-ethiopia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167985.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10614</span> Rhizospheric Oxygen Release of Hydroponically Grown Wetland Macrophytes as Passive Source for Cathodic Reduction in Microbial Fuel Cell</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chabungbam%20Niranjit%20Khuman">Chabungbam Niranjit Khuman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Makarand%20Madhao%20Ghangrekar"> Makarand Madhao Ghangrekar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arunabha%20Mitra"> Arunabha Mitra</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The cost of aeration is one of the limiting factors in the upscaling of microbial fuel cells (MFC) for field-scale applications. Wetland macrophytes have the ability to release oxygen into the water to maintain aerobic conditions in their root zone. In this experiment, the efficacy of rhizospheric oxygen release of wetland macrophytes as a source of oxygen in the cathodic chamber of MFC was conducted. The experiment was conducted in an MFC consisting of a three-liter anodic chamber made of ceramic cylinder and a 27 L cathodic chamber. Untreated carbon felts were used as electrodes (i.e., anode and cathode) and connected to an external load of 100 Ω using stainless steel wire. Wetland macrophytes (Canna indica) were grown in the cathodic chamber of the MFC in a hydroponic fashion using a styrofoam sheet (termed as macrophytes assisted-microbial fuel cell, M-MFC). The catholyte (i.e., water) in the M-MFC had negligible contact with atmospheric air due to the styrofoam sheet used for maintaining the hydroponic condition. There was no mixing of the catholyte in the M-MFC. Sucrose based synthetic wastewater having chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 3000 mg/L was fed into the anodic chamber of the MFC in fed-batch mode with a liquid retention time of four days. The C. indica thrived well throughout the duration of the experiment without much care. The average dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration and pH value in the M-MFC were 3.25 mg/L and 7.07, respectively, in the catholyte. Since the catholyte was not in contact with air, the DO in the catholyte might be considered as solely liberated from the rhizospheric oxygen release of C. indica. The maximum COD removal efficiency of M-MFC observed during the experiment was 76.9%. The inadequacy of terminal electron acceptor in the cathodic chamber in M-MFC might have hampered the electron transfer, which in turn, led to slower specific microbial activity, thereby resulting in lower COD removal efficiency than the traditional MFC with aerated catholyte. The average operating voltage (OV) and open-circuit voltage (OCV) of 294 mV and 594 mV, respectively, were observed in M-MFC. The maximum power density observed during polarization was 381 mW/m³, and the maximum sustainable power density observed during the experiment was 397 mW/m³ in M-MFC. The maximum normalized energy recovery and coulombic efficiency of 38.09 Wh/m³ and 1.27%, respectively, were observed. Therefore, it was evidenced that rhizospheric oxygen release of wetland macrophytes (C. indica) was capable of sustaining the cathodic reaction in MFC for field-scale applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydroponic" title="hydroponic">hydroponic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microbial%20fuel%20cell" title=" microbial fuel cell"> microbial fuel cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhizospheric%20oxygen%20release" title=" rhizospheric oxygen release"> rhizospheric oxygen release</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wetland%20macrophytes" title=" wetland macrophytes"> wetland macrophytes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125604/rhizospheric-oxygen-release-of-hydroponically-grown-wetland-macrophytes-as-passive-source-for-cathodic-reduction-in-microbial-fuel-cell" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/125604.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">132</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10613</span> Field Trips inside Digital Game Environments</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amani%20Alsaqqaf">Amani Alsaqqaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Frederick%20W.%20B.%20Li"> Frederick W. Virtual field trips (VFTs) in game environments provide FT experience based on the experiential learning theory (ELT). A conceptual framework for designing virtual field trip games (VFTGs) is developed with an aim to support game designers and educators to produce an effective FT experience where technology would enhance education. The conceptual framework quantifies ELT as an internal economy to link learning elements to game mechanics such as feedback loops which leads to facilitating VFTGs design and implementation. This study assesses the conceptual framework for designing VFTGs by investigating the possibility of applying immersive VFTGs in a secondary classroom and compare them with traditional learning that uses video clips and PowerPoint slides from the viewpoint of students’ perceived motivation, presence, and learning. The assessment is achieved by evaluating the learning performance and learner experience of a prototype VFT game, Island of Volcanoes. A quasi-experiment was conducted with 60 secondary school students. The findings of this study are that the VFTG enhanced learning performance to a better level than did the traditional way of learning, and in addition, it provided motivation and a general feeling of presence in the VFTG environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conceptual%20framework" title="conceptual framework">conceptual framework</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=game-based%20learning" title=" game-based learning"> game-based learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=game%20design" title=" game design"> game design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virtual%20field%20trip%20game" title=" virtual field trip game"> virtual field trip game</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138070/field-trips-inside-digital-game-environments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138070.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">235</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10612</span> Application of Waterflooding to the Kashkari Oil Field in Northern Afghanistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zabihullah%20Mahdi">Zabihullah Mahdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdi%20Nayab"> Mahdi Nayab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sadaf%20Jalal"> Sadaf Jalal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Navid%20Seddiqi"> Navid Seddiqi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hydrocarbons represent an important natural resource for the rehabilitation and sustainable development of Afghanistan. The relative permeabilities of oil and water, the residual oil saturation, and the irreducible water saturation are obtained from a laboratory experiment. The technique is applied to the laboratory plane-reservoir model to investigate the displacement mechanism and is then compared with the theoretical calculation. Lastly, the technique is applied to the Kashkari oil field to predict the feasible amount of oil that could be produced from this reservoir. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Buckley%E2%80%93Leverett" title="Buckley–Leverett">Buckley–Leverett</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=waterflooding" title=" waterflooding"> waterflooding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petroleum%20reservoir%20engineering" title=" petroleum reservoir engineering"> petroleum reservoir engineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-phase%20flow" title=" two-phase flow"> two-phase flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immiscible%20displacement" title=" immiscible displacement"> immiscible displacement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porous%20media" title=" porous media"> porous media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relative%20permeability" title=" relative permeability"> relative permeability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111058/application-of-waterflooding-to-the-kashkari-oil-field-in-northern-afghanistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/111058.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">203</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10611</span> Video Processing of a Football Game: Detecting Features of a Football Match for Automated Calculation of Statistics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rishabh%20Beri">Rishabh Beri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahil%20Shah"> Sahil Shah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We have applied a range of filters and processing in order to extract out the various features of the football game, like the field lines of a football field. The experiment was laid out in a 3X3 factorial split-plot design with 4 replications. The treatments consisted of three irrigation regimes (designated as follows: I1 = optimum irrigation, I2 = moderate stress and I3 = severe stress; this corresponded with irrigation after drainage of 50%, 75% and 100% of available water based on 70%, 60% and 50% of field capacity, respectively) assigned as main plots and three plant densities (D₁=20, D₂= 40 and D₃= 60 plants/m²) assigned as subplots. The results indicated that the yield components (number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 100 seed weight), seed yield per plant, harvest index and yield per unit area of chickpea were significantly (p < 0.05) affected by irrigation regime. Decreasing irrigation regime significantly (p < 0.05) decreased all measured parameters. Alternatively, increasing plant density significantly (p < 0.05) decreased the number of pods and seed yield per plant and increased seed yield per unit area. While number of seeds per pod and harvest index were not significantly (p > 0.05) affected by plant density. Interaction between irrigation regime and plant density was also significantly (p < 0.05) affected all measured parameters of yield, except for harvest index. It could be concluded that the best irrigation regime was full irrigation (after drainage of 50% available water at 70% field capacity) and the optimal plant density was 20 plants/m² under conditions of semi-arid regions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=irrigation%20regime" title="irrigation regime">irrigation regime</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cicer%20arietinum" title=" Cicer arietinum"> Cicer arietinum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chickpea" title=" chickpea"> chickpea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plant%20density" title=" plant density"> plant density</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71355/effect-of-irrigation-regime-and-plant-density-on-chickpea-cicer-arietinum-l-yield-in-a-semi-arid-environment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71355.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">225</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10608</span> Chemical Control Management Strategies for Corm Rot in Gladiolus communis L. under Field Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahbaz%20Ahmad">Shahbaz Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Ali"> Muhammad Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Naz"> Sahar Naz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Corm rot is caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. gladioli and it causes remarkable losses to the growers. Weed suppression precedes the process of weeding. It means suppressing the growth of young weeds and creating a weed-less environment. If we suppress the growth of weeds, we can reduce the number of weeds in a paddy field. This would result in a reduction of the weeding work load. In this paper, we will show how we developed a weed suppression robot for the purpose of reducing the weeding work load. The robot has a laser range finder for autonomous mobility and a robot arm for weed suppression. It travels along the rice rows without stepping on and injuring the rice plants in a paddy field. The robot arm applies force to the weed seedlings and thereby suppresses the growth of weeds. This paper will explain the methodology of the autonomous mobile, the experiment in weed suppression, and the method of controlling the robot’s posture on uneven ground. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20robot" title="mobile robot">mobile robot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=paddy%20field" title=" paddy field"> paddy field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robot%20arm" title=" robot arm"> robot arm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weed" title=" weed"> weed</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18414/development-of-a-weed-suppression-robot-for-rice-cultivation-weed-suppression-and-posture-control" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18414.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">377</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10606</span> A Particle Image Velocimetric (PIV) Experiment on Simplified Bottom Hole Flow Field</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heqian%20Zhao">Heqian Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huaizhong%20Shi"> Huaizhong Shi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhongwei%20Huang"> Zhongwei Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhengliang%20Chen"> Zhengliang Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ziang%20Gu"> Ziang Gu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fei%20Gao"> Fei Gao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hydraulics mechanics is significantly important in the drilling process of oil or gas exploration, especially for the drill bit. The fluid flows through the nozzles on the bit and generates a water jet to remove the cutting at the bottom hole. In this paper, a simplified bottom hole model is established. The Particle Image Velocimetric (PIV) is used to capture the flow field of the single nozzle. Due to the limitation of the bottom and wellbore, the potential core is shorter than that of the free water jet. The velocity magnitude rapidly attenuates when fluid close to the bottom is lower than about 5 mm. Besides, a vortex zone appears near the middle of the bottom beside the water jet zone. A modified exponential function can be used to fit the centerline velocity well. On the one hand, the results of this paper can provide verification for the numerical simulation of the bottom hole flow field. On the other hand, it also can provide an experimental basis for the hydraulic design of the drill bit. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20and%20gas" title="oil and gas">oil and gas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydraulic%20mechanic%20of%20drilling" title=" hydraulic mechanic of drilling"> hydraulic mechanic of drilling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PIV" title=" PIV"> PIV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bottom%20hole" title=" bottom hole"> bottom hole</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141552/a-particle-image-velocimetric-piv-experiment-on-simplified-bottom-hole-flow-field" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141552.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">213</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10605</span> Human Kinetics Education and the Computer Operations, Effects and Merits</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kehinde%20Adeyeye%20Adelabu">Kehinde Adeyeye Adelabu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Computer applications has completely revolutionized the way of life of people which does not exclude the field of sport education. There are computer technologies which help to enhance teaching in every field of education. Invention of computers has done great to the field of education. This study was therefore carried out to examine the effects and merits of computer operations in Human Kinetics Education and Sports. The study was able to identify the component of computer, uses of computer in Human Kinetics education (sports), computer applications in some branches of human kinetics education. A qualitative research method was employed by the author in gathering experts’ views and used to analyze the effects and merits of computer applications in the field of human kinetics education. No experiment was performed in the cause of carrying out the study. The source of information for the study was text-books, journal, articles, past project reports, internet i.e. Google search engine. Computer has significantly helped to improve Education (Human Kinetic), it has complemented the basic physical fitness testing and gave a more scientific basis to the testing. The use of the software and packages has made cost projections, database applications, inventory control, management of events, word processing, electronic mailing and record keeping easier than the pasts. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=application" title="application">application</a>, <a
