They wrote out all Mordecai's orders to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors and nobles of the 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush. These orders were written in the script of each province and the language of each people and also to the Jews in their own script and language.</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/esther/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><span class="btext2">The king&#8217;s scribes were summoned at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the twenty-third day. href="/esther/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="btext3">In them the king granted the Jews who were in each and every city the right to assemble and to defend their lives, to destroy, to kill mounted on their swift horses that were used in the king&#8217;s service, rode out hurriedly, urged by the king&#8217;s command. And the decree was issued in Susa the citadel.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/esther/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><span class="btext3">The couriers, hastened and impelled by the king's command, went out, riding on the royal steeds; and the decree was given out at the citadel in Susa.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/esther/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><span class="btext4"><i>So</i> the posts that rode upon mules <i>and</i> camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment.
