but those according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>For the mind of the flesh <i>is</i> death; but the mind of the Spirit, life and peace, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>because the mind of the flesh <i>is</i> hostility toward God; for it is not subject to <i>the</i> Law of God, for not even can it <i>be</i>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And those being in <i>the</i> flesh are not able to please God. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Now you are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed <i>the</i> Spirit of God dwells in you; but if anyone does not have <i>the</i> Spirit of Christ, he is not of Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But if Christ <i>is</i> in you, the body <i>is</i> indeed dead on account of sin, but the Spirit <i>is</i> life on account of righteousness. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And if the Spirit of the <i>One</i> having raised up Jesus out from <i>the</i> dead dwells in you, the <i>One</i> having raised up Christ Jesus out from <i>the</i> dead<span class="fn"><a href="#fnc" title="NA, BYZ, and TR ‘Raised Christ out from the dead’">c</a></span> also will give life to your mortal bodies, on account of His Spirit dwelling in you. </p><p class="hdg">Heirs with Christ<br /><span class="cross">(Genesis 21:1-8; Galatians 4:1-7)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For if you live according to flesh, you are about to die; but if by <i>the</i> Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For as many as are led by <i>the</i> Spirit of God, these are sons of God. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For you have not received a spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received <i>the</i> Spirit of divine adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>and if children, also heirs: heirs indeed of God, and joint-heirs of Christ, if indeed we suffer with <i>Him</i>, so that we may also be glorified together. </p><p class="hdg">Future Glory<br /><span class="cross">(2 Corinthians 5:1-10)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time <i>are</i> not comparable to the coming glory to be revealed to us. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>For the earnest expectation of the creation awaits the revelation of the sons of God. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of the <i>One</i> having subjected <i>it</i>, in hope <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay, into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>For we know that the whole creation groans together and travails together until now. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And not only <i>so</i>, but we ourselves, even having the firstfruit of the Spirit, also groan ourselves in ourselves, awaiting divine adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For in this hope we were saved; but hope being seen is no hope; for does anyone hope for what he sees? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>But if we hope for what we do not see, we await in patience. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Now likewise also, the Spirit joins to help us in weakness; for we do not know the things which we should pray for as it behooves, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession with inexpressible groanings. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And the <i>One</i> searching hearts knows what <i>is</i> the mindset of the Spirit, because He intercedes for <i>the</i> saints according to God. </p><p class="hdg">God Works In All Things<br /><span class="cross">(Ephesians 1:3-14)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And we know that God works together all things for good to those loving God, to those being called according to <i>His</i> purpose, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>because those whom He foreknew, He also predestined <i>to be</i> conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be firstborn among many brothers. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And those whom He predestined, these also He called; and whom He called, these also He justified; and whom He justified, these also He glorified. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>What then will we say to these things? If God <i>is</i> for us, who <i>can be</i> against us? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>For He who spared not the own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, with Him, grant us all things? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>Who will bring an accusation against <i>the</i> elect of God? God <i>is</i> the <i>One</i> justifying. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>Who <i>is</i> the <i>one</i> condemning? <i>For it is</i> Christ Jesus, the <i>one</i> having died, now rather having been raised up, who is also at <i>the</i> right hand of God, and who is interceding for us. </p><p class="hdg">More than Conquerors<br /><span class="cross">(Psalm 44:1-26)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/8-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
