The repetition of "the word of the LORD" underscores the authority and divine origin of the message. In the context of Ezekiel, this phrase is a common introduction to prophetic revelations, highlighting the role of Ezekiel as a mouthpiece for God. The phrase "came to me" suggests a personal and direct encounter with the divine, reinforcing the authenticity of the prophecy. This is consistent with other prophetic books where God speaks directly to His chosen messengers, such as Jeremiah and Isaiah. The phrase also sets the stage for the subsequent message, which often contains warnings, judgments, or instructions. In the broader biblical narrative, this reflects the pattern of God communicating His will and purposes through prophets, a theme that is fulfilled in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus Christ, who is described as the ultimate revelation of God's word (<a href="/john/1.htm">John 1:1-14</a>).<div class="vheading2">Persons / Places / Events</div>1. <b><a href="/topical/e/ezekiel.htm">Ezekiel</a></b><br>A prophet of God, Ezekiel was among the exiles in Babylon. It may be either <p><span class="note_emph">(1)</span> a continuation of the prophecy in <a href="/ezekiel/29-17.htm">Ezekiel 29:17-21</a>, and so belong to the latest years of Ezekiel's work; or <p><span class="note_emph">(2)</span> that prophecy may be regarded as standing by itself - a parenthesis inserted at a later date, so that we go back to the earlier word of the Lord in <a href="/ezekiel/29-1.htm">Ezekiel 29:1-16</a>. Jerome, Havernick, Hitzig, Rosenmüller, Kliefoth, and others are in favor of the former view, chiefly on the ground that Ver. 3 speaks of the nearness of the coming judgment. That the day of the Lord should be "near" is, however, too vague and relative a term to be decisive. On the whole, the question must be left as one which we have no sufficient data for solving. The close parallelism with <a href="/ezekiel/29.htm">Ezekiel 29</a>. seems to me slightly in favor of the second view. <span class="p"><br /><br /></span><span class="versiontext"><a href="/commentaries/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Parallel Commentaries ...</a></span><span class="p"><br /><br /><br /></span><a name="lexicon" id="lexicon"></a><div class="vheading">Hebrew</div><span class="word">Again the word</span><br /><span class="heb">דְבַר־</span> <span class="translit">(ḏə·ḇar-)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - masculine singular construct<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_1697.htm">Strong's 1697: </a> </span><span class="str2">A word, a matter, thing, a cause</span><br /><br /><span class="word">of the LORD</span><br /><span class="heb">יְהוָ֖ה</span> <span class="translit">(Yah·weh)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - proper - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_3068.htm">Strong's 3068: </a> </span><span class="str2">LORD -- the proper name of the God of Israel</span><br /><br /><span class="word">came</span><br /><span class="heb">וַיְהִ֥י</span> <span class="translit">(way·hî)</span><br /><span class="parse">Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Consecutive imperfect - third person masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_1961.htm">Strong's 1961: </a> </span><span class="str2">To fall out, come to pass, become, be</span><br /><br /><span class="word">to me,</span><br /><span class="heb">אֵלַ֥י</span> <span class="translit">(’ê·lay)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition | first person common singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_413.htm">Strong's 413: </a> </span><span class="str2">Near, with, among, to</span><br /><br /><span class="word">saying,</span><br /><span class="heb">לֵאמֹֽר׃</span> <span class="translit">(lê·mōr)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition-l | Verb - Qal - Infinitive construct<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_559.htm">Strong's 559: </a> </span><span class="str2">To utter, say</span><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><div class="vheading">Links</div><a href="/niv/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="//bibleapps.com/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 BibleApps.com</a><br /><a href="//bibliaparalela.com/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="//holybible.com.cn/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="//saintebible.com/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 French Bible</a><br /><a href="/catholic/ezekiel/30-1.htm">Ezekiel 30:1 Catholic Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/ezekiel/30-1.htm">OT Prophets: Ezekiel 30:1 The word of Yahweh came again (Ezek.
