He said to him, "You have said."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And Pilate said to the Chief Priests and to the crowd, "I find no fault concerning this man."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But they were shouting and saying, "He has stirred up our people and he taught in all Judea and began from Galilee even unto here."</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But when Pilate heard the name of Galilee, he asked if the man were a Galilean.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And when he knew that he was under the authority of Herodus, he sent him to the presence of Herodus, because he was in Jerusalem in those days.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Now when Herodus saw Yeshua, he was very glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him and he had hoped to see some sign from him.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And he was asking him of many matters but Yeshua* gave him no answer.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But the Chief Priests and the Scribes were standing and were vehemently accusing him.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But Herodus and his servants mocked him, and when he had insulted him, he clothed him with a purple robe and he sent him to Pilate.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And on that day, Pilate and Herodus became friends with each other, because there had been hostility between them before that.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Then Pilate called the Chief Priests and the Rulers of the people,</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And he said to them, "You brought me this man as subverting your people, and behold I have examined him in your sight, and I find no fault in this man in anything of which you are accusing him;</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Neither has Herodus, for I sent him to him*, and nothing worthy of death has been committed by him.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Therefore I shall discipline him and release him."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><span class="spcl">For it was a custom to release them one prisoner at the feast.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But the entire mob shouted, and they were saying, "Take this one away and release us Barabba",</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Who, because of a sedition and murder that had occurred in that city, had been cast into prison.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><span class="spcl">Pilate spoke with them again as he wanted to release Yeshua.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><span class="spcl">They were shouting and saying, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><span class="spcl">The third time, he said to them, "What evil has this one done? I have not found any fault in him that deserves death. I shall chastise him, therefore, and I shall release him."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But they were urging him in a loud voice and demanding that they would crucify him, and their voice prevailed, and that of the Chief Priests.*</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And Pilate commanded that their demand should be performed.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And he released to them him who had been cast into prison for sedition and murder, whom they had demanded, but he delivered Yeshua to their pleasure.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And as they brought him, they seized Shimeon a Cyrenian who came from a village and they laid upon him the cross to carry after Yeshua.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And a multitude of people came after him and those women who were lamenting and howling over him.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And Yeshua turned to them, and he said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span><span class="spcl">For the days are coming in which they shall say, 'Blessed are the barren and the wombs that have not borne, and the breasts that did not nurse.'</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And they shall begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall upon us', and to the hills, 'Cover us.'</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><span class="spcl">For if they are doing these things with green wood, what will happen with the dried?"</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And there were two others coming with him, evildoers to be killed.*</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And when they came to a certain place called Qarqpatha, they crucified him there and those evildoers, one at his right, and one at his left.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But Yeshua was saying, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."* And they divided his garments, and they cast lots for them.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But the people were standing and watching and the leaders were mocking him and they were saying, "He gave life to others; let him save himself if he is The Messiah, The Chosen One of God."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And the soldiers were also scoffing at him as they came near to him and they were offering him vinegar.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And they were saying to him, "If you are The King of the Judeans, save yourself."*</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And there was an inscription that was written over him in Greek and in Latin and in Aramaic*: "This is The King of the Judeans."</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But one of those evildoers who were crucified with him was blaspheming him and he said, "If you are The Messiah, save yourself and save us also."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And his companion rebuked him and he said to him, "Are you not even afraid of God? For you also are in condemnation with him.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And we justly so, because we are worthy, for we are repaid according to what we have done, but nothing evil has been done by this one."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And he said to Yeshua, "My Lord*, remember me when you come into your Kingdom."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But Yeshua said to him, "Amen, I say to you that today you shall be with me in Paradise."</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But it was about the sixth hour and there was darkness upon all the earth until the ninth hour.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And the sun grew dark, and the curtain of The Temple was ripped apart from its middle.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And Yeshua called out in a loud voice and he said, "My Father, into your hands I lay down my spirit." He said this and he expired.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span><span class="spcl">When the Centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God and he said, "Truly this man was The Righteous One."</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And all the crowds which had gathered for this spectacle, when they saw what had happened, returned while smiting on their chests.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And all the acquaintances of Yeshua and those women who had come with him from Galilee were standing afar off and they were beholding these things.</span><p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span><span class="spcl">A certain man whose name was Yoseph, a Sanhedrin member from Ramtha, a city of Judea*, was a good man and just.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span><span class="spcl">This one had not consented to their decision and to their action, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God.*</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-52.htm"><b>52</b></a></span><span class="spcl">This man came to Pilate, and he asked for the body of Yeshua.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-53.htm"><b>53</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And he took it down and wrapped it in a winding sheet of linen, and he placed it in a cut out tomb in which no one had yet been placed.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-54.htm"><b>54</b></a></span><span class="spcl">The day was Friday and the Sabbath was beginning.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-55.htm"><b>55</b></a></span><span class="spcl">But these women who came with him from Galilee were approaching and they saw the tomb and how his body had been laid.</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/23-56.htm"><b>56</b></a></span><span class="spcl">And they returned, and prepared sweet spices and ointment, and on the Sabbath they rested according to that which had been commanded.</span><p></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center"><a href="//www.lulu.com/shop/rev-david-bauscher/the-original-aramaic-new-testament-in-plain-english-with-psalms-proverbs-8th-edition-with-notes/hardcover/product-21273790.html">The Original Aramaic New Testament in Plain English- with Psalms & Proverbs<br>Copyright &copy; 2007; 8th edition Copyright &copy; 2013<br>All rights reserved.
