In en-passant the target square is empty, so it ends up getting treated as a standard 'move' sound. It didn't try to look for more alts if the top 4 moves already included non-mates if the top move was a mate in 1.  Given how fundamental mate in one is in chess, I don't have a big problem leaving these "winning but not mate, and missed a mate in 1" non-alt problems in the system unless they get very low quality votes. The top 3 moves at depth30 are not among the top 5 variations at depth 18. Then 1.Bg5 jumps in at number 1 at depth19 with a +3 eval, much better than the +1.3 of other variations.<br /><br />1.Qxh6+ jumps onto the list at depth21 as Mate 7. <br /><br />Third best 1.Bf6 first appears on the list at depth27 at eval +1.97, creeping up to +2.65 at depth30 with the variation above.<br /><br />This can be discussed in the Forum under Tactics Problems. 1.Bf6 leads to a position up one pawn. To my patzer eyes, that looks like a favorable endgame rather than a clearly winning tactical solution. Also, the player missed a queen sacrifice leading to mate!!<br /><br />OTOH, the GM OTB (in a 1990 tournament, likely at classic time control) missed the sac. He played the strong 1.Bg5 ALT which leads to being up a bishop and a pawn, or OTB a mating net when black was inaccurate on move 4.<br /><br />Both blitz and standard ratings are mid-2200.<br />The success rated are mid-20%<br />The quality rating is 5 stars.
