account, there are several steps you can take to try to sign in.</span></p> <h3><strong>Don't remember your <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://www.dictionary.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dictionary.com</a>/<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://www.thesaurus.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Thesaurus.com</a> account password?</strong></h3> <ul> <li><span> Send yourself a<strong> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/http://www.dictionary.com/forgot-password/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">password reset email</a></strong>, and follow the <a href="/web/20230324035920/https://dictionary.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053347053" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">steps</a> to reset the password on your account.</span></li> <li>A few notes on the password:  <ul> <li><span>Passwords are case sensitive.</span></li> <li>The password you used to create your account was required to use at least 8 characters.</li> <li>Include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character. </li> </ul> </li> <li>We can only send password reset emails to email addresses which have a Dictionary.com account associated with them. If an account doesn't exist, or there's a typo on your email, you won't receive an email.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Ensure you are logging into the correct site!</strong></h3> <ul> <li>From the time these accounts launched in August 2020-April 2022, accounts existed <strong>only</strong> on the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://www.dictionary.com/" target="_self">Dictionary.com</a> and<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://www.thesaurus.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Thesaurus.com</a> <strong>websites.</strong></li> <li>Our iOS and Android mobile apps did <strong>not</strong> have logins for a Dictionary accounts <em>until </em>April 2022- in the version 10.0.0 release (and later versions).<br> <ul> <li>Dictionary.com accounts did not exist in the apps prior to this time, and you did not use an account in the app itself.</li> <li>All purchases in the mobile apps take place *solely* in the App or Play Store. They are not associated with your Dictionary.com account. Those will continue to only be linked to your app/play store account under-which you purchased them.</li> <li>these dictionary.com accounts will allow you to manage your word lists across devices</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li>To date, our separate, stand-alone iPad apps (<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dictionary-com-for-ipad/id364740856" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">free</a> and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dictionary-com-pro-for-ipad/id450123799" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">pro</a> iPad apps) do <span class="wysiwyg-underline">not</span> have accounts.</li> <li>Also, your <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230324035920/https://www.dictionary.com/" target="_self">Dictionary.com</a> account is<strong> different</strong> than the account you use to log in to our <a href="/web/20230324035920/https://dictionary.zendesk.com/hc/en-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Help Center</a>.  Logging into the Dictionary.com account will not log you into the Help Center, and vice versa. This could include our Welcome email, password resets, or email address change confirmations. If you are able to locate account based email (as opposed to our marketing, word of the day, or editorial emails), try logging into your account with that email address.
