Carpenter's tongue is stuck on the #1 pole-position as her Taste takes a fourth bite at the top in Australia. <br><br>Of the 39 weeks of 2024, this is now the fifteenth week for a Female Solo Artist at the top and also the seventh week in a row for such an artist also, with Billie Eilish and Charli XCX both having the #1's prior to Sabrina. Ms. Carpenter also secures a seventh overall week at #1 in Australia with her three chart-toppers, moving her to now equal 79th on the listing for 'Accumulated Weeks at #1: Singles (1940 to 2024)' alongside Tom Jones (7 weeks from 3 #1's). <br><br>So far Taste has eclipsed 73k in sales so expect a sales certification by the end of the month, while the track remains at the top in England and Ireland (fourth week also), plus she regains the #1 slot on the Albums Chart, again scoring the duopoly on the charts for a third overall time, becoming the first act since late October of 2022 to have secured the top of both charts for three or more weeks, the last lengthy stay was by Taylor with Anti-Hero and its album Midnights (for a five week stay). <br><br>During the past week the flow-on effect from the MTV VMA's for 2024 (held Sept. 11th in New York) have seen several acts rise back up this week, and with Sabrina Carpenter performing on the night, she also won 'Song of the Summer' for her song Espresso, which is on hold this week at #5, while her two further Top 10 entries sees Please Please Please drop down two places to #8 and her fourth entry and third non-mover sees Bad Chem remain at it's #10 for a third straight week. <br><br>The only new peak within the Top 10 (or even 20) this week is the Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars duet Die with a Smile, which moves up one spot to a new chart height of #2, while the track remains the top seller again in New Zealand (fifth week) along with Singapore (fourth week), The Philippines, Malaysia (both third week) and Indonesia (first week). Gaga's smile swaps places with Billie's birds, as down one place to #3 is BIRDS OF A FEATHER for Billie Eilish, followed by the fourth and final stable Top 10 entry for Shaboozey and A Bar Song (Tipsy) at #5, while it also holds the top spot again in The U.S.A. (tenth week) and Canada (sixteenth week). <br><br>Two further VMA winners and performers see their songs rise up this week, starting with Chappell Roan and Good Luck, Babe! (performed and won for 'Best New Artist'), followed by Benson Boone's Beautiful Things (performed and won for 'Best Alternative Video') up two places each to #6 and #7 respectively, while Benson sees a 33rd week within the Top 10 for his track (now the outright eleventh longest of all time in Australia). Chappell and Benson swap places with Sabrina's Please and also the Post Malone and Morgan Wallen entry I Had Some Help, which is down two places to #9 this week. <br><br>TOP 20: <br>Hozier holds at #13 for a third straight week with his Too Sweet track, also cracking the half-year charting mark (26 weeks), while there are only single place upward moves for two tracks this week in Lose Control for Teddy Swims to #11 and Stick Season by Noah Kahan to #17. The biggest decline within the Top 20 sees Big Dawgs walk down four places to land at #20 for Hanumankind with Kalmi, which loses the top spot on the Hip Hop/R&B Singles Chart to former #1 there Tommy Richman and MILLION DOLLAR BABY, which is only down one spot to #18. Also dipping one place each are Austin for Dasha to #12, Stargazing by Myles Smith to #15 and Guess for Charli XCX and Billie Eilish to #16. <br><br>TOP 30: <br>NEW PEAK goes to Gigi Perez and her Sailor Song which floats up seven chart-waves to land at #27, while also rising in New Zealand (19 to #14), Ireland (10 to #6), The U.S.A. (68 to #47), Canada (51 to #35) and it peak holds in England (#13). Zach Bryan has the only other rising track within the Top 30 as Something in the Orange moves back up three spots to #21, while his two other Top 50 entries also reside here; I Remember Everything with Kasey Musgraves at #26 and Pink Skies is stable at #29. <br><br>The other non-mover here is at #28 for Benson Boone and his Slow it Down track, which also racks up half-a-year on the chart. Two peaks from last week which drop down this week are Gracie Abrams' I Love You, I'm Sorry down three to #22 and Chappell Roan's HOT TO GO! down two to #24, while she also scores lower entries with Pink Pony Club (85 to a new peak of #63) and Red Wine Supernova (94 to #84). Vance Joy again has the highest placed track by an Australian act this week, as their Riptide track dips two places to #23, with further bigger drops seen by Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us down five spots to #25 and Scared to Start for Michael Marcagi falling four places to #30.<br><br>TOP 40: <br>NEW PEAKS are seen by two entries here, the regaining #1 Dance Single for BL3SS with CamrinWatsin with bbyclose and Kisses which jumps back up nine places to #35 (and is now Gold (●) in sales), while the other sees Teddy Swims score a new chart height of #40 with The Door, while he also lands a new entry at #65 with his next single Bad Dreams. <br><br>The Kid LAROI moves up one spot to #32 with Nights Like This, while the fourth and final climber here is the multi-VMA winning Fortnight for Taylor Swift and Post Malone rebounding seven places to land at #38, walking away with spacemen-trophies for 'Video of the Year', 'Best Collaboration', Song of the Summer', Best Editing', 'Best Direction' and Taylor also won 'Artist of the Year' and 'Best Pop Artist'. And with Sabrina's Taste single remaining the top seller on that chart, she again has the top of both charts locally (matching that feat in Ireland), becoming the first act since late October of 2022 to have secured the top of both charts for three or more weeks, the last lengthy stay was by Taylor with Anti-Hero and its album Midnights (for a five week stay). <br><br>All five previous Albums which retook the top spot in 2024 were also by female acts, starting with Taylor Swift on January 29th with 1989 (TsV), while next was her Midnights set (February 26th) and then her 2019 set Lover reclaimed the top on both March 11th and April 22nd. Moving back up one place each are Billie Eilish and HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (No.6 Vinyl) and Chappell Roan repeaks at #4 for a third time with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (No.7 Vinyl) with Chappell performing at the VMA's and winning for 'Best New Artist', with the album last peaking at #4 on July 8th and 15th. <br><br>It's only a couple of weeks away (Oct. 5th) before The Weeknd finally brings his tour to Australia which is helping his collection The Highlights to climb back up the chart, this weeks #1 Catalogue Album rises back up two places to #5 (160th week in Top 10), while he also debuts at #19 on the singles chart with his 28th Top 20 entry Dancing in the Flames. <br><br>Taylor Swift won seven VMAs this year, three alone for her song Fortnight with Post Malone, with the pair both rising back up to sit back-to-back this week, Taylor's The Tortured Poets Department forgoes it's lowest position of #10 last week to jump up four this week and land at #6 (No.11 Vinyl), while Post Malone's latest set F-1 Trillion moves up one spot to #7, plus it's also the #1 Country Album and this week in 2019 he was at #1 with Hollywood's Bleeding, while at five weeks within the Top 10 the album has more than doubled his last albums effort (Austin spent only two weeks within the Top 10 in August of 2023). <br><br>Another October tourist who'll be here in over three weeks (Oct. 9th) will be Olivia Rodrigo who sees her second set Guts jump up seven places this week to land at #8 (WI10-28) and scoring the No.10 Vinyl Sales spot, while her first set SOUR jumps up five places to land at #11. In between those two OR-LPs is the only stable Top 10 entry for Gracie Abrams and The Secret of Us at #9 (No.12 Vinyl) while the third and final return to the Top 10 sees Morgan Wallen's One Thing at a Time move back up two places to #10 (WI10-58). <br><br>TOP 20: <br>The only two Top 50 entries this week land within the Top 20, so the seven further entries here are made up of six rising and one falling set, starting with the three collections here all moving up one spot each for Post Malone, Linkin Park and Maroon 5 to #12, #13 and #18 respectively.
