<p>We have <a href="/web/20230421045516/https://www.jisc.ac.uk/membership/representative-and-institutional-members">two types of membership</a>, representative members, including <span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="Universities UK"><abbr title="Universities UK">UUK</abbr></span>, GuildHE and <span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="Association of Colleges"><abbr title="Association of Colleges">AoC</abbr></span>, and institutional members. Our institutional members form a separate class of membership which every UK higher education (<span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="higher education"><abbr title="higher education">HE</abbr></span>) and further education (<span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="further education"><abbr title="further education">FE</abbr></span>) institution has the opportunity to join. This means that Jisc is owned by the communities it serves and ensures we deliver against their priorities.</p><p>We receive <a href="/web/20230421045516/https://www.jisc.ac.uk/about/corporate/how-we-are-funded">core funding</a> from the UK <span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="higher education"><abbr title="higher education">HE</abbr></span> and <span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="further education"><abbr title="further education">FE</abbr></span> funding bodies. <span class="lexicon-term has-tooltip" title="Higher Education Statistics Agency"><abbr title="Higher Education Statistics Agency">HESA</abbr></span> data is funded by subscriptions from the higher education providers from whom data is collected.</p><p><a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20230421045516/https://www.jisc.ac.uk/sites/default/files/jisc-articles-of-association-july-2022.pdf">Download the Jisc articles of association (pdf)</a>.</p><h2>Governance</h2><p>Our <a href="/web/20230421045516/https://www.jisc.ac.uk/about/corporate/board">board</a> is made up of senior leaders and managers working in UK further and higher education and the commercial sector.</p><p>The board is supported by the following committees:</p><section class="is-collapsible is-collapsible--blue user-created "><h3 class="cx_collapsibles__trigger">Audit and risk management committee</h3><div class="cx_collapsibles__target"><p>The audit and risk management committee meets three to four times a year.</p><h4>Terms of reference</h4><ol><li>Review and recommend the annual reports and financial statements to the relevant boards, ensuring that any feedback from the auditors is acted upon.</li><li>Advise the board on the appointment of external auditors for Jisc and monitor the performance, effectiveness and independence of auditors.</li><li>Monitor and review the performance, effectiveness and independence of the internal audit function, including agreeing the annual internal audit plan and reviewing the internal audit reports and management responses.</li><li>Ensure that Jisc’s internal auditors have access to the information they require to discharge their duties. Auditors are expected to be in attendance at each committee meeting and have the right to call a committee meeting without Jisc staff present.</li><li>Satisfy itself that satisfactory arrangements are in place to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness.</li><li>Oversee the work on the efficiency and value of Jisc and associated methodologies.</li><li>Ensure that an appropriate system of
