Santilli obtained his Ph. D. in theoretical physics at the University of Torino, Italy in 1965; he then emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1967 where he was on the faculty of the University of Miami, Boston University, MIT, and Harvard University under financial support from NASA, UFOSR and DOE. In 1991 he accepted the position of President and Professor at the Institute for Basic Research in Florida. He is the author of 345 papers published in refereed journals and twenty post Ph. D. monographs in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology; he is the Editor of a number of scientific journals in mathematics and physics and was awarded twelve U. S. patents. He is internationally known for developing new mathematics (known as Lie-admissible, Lie-isotopic and isodual mathematics) for the construction of hadronic mechanics, chemistry and biology, and for the verification of the 1935 Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen argument that "quantum mechanics is not a complete theory." These discoveries lead to the prediction of new technologies, incompatible with quantum mechanics but fully compatible with hadronic mechanics, which he developed as Chief Scientist at various U. He developed the Cosworth Casting Process, then a novel process making Al alloy cylinder heads and blocks for the Formula One racing engines, using counter-gravity filling of molds by electromagnetic pumps. The process has been taken up by Ford, Nemak and General Motors for the production of automotive cylinder blocks the USA. This process still has the world record for production rates of sound V6 and V8 blocks. During his 15 years as Professor of Casting Technology in the University of Birmingham, UK, the nature of turbulence and the generation of casting defects was clarified for the first time. The new concepts included entrainment, the double nature of oxide films causing them to act as cracks (bifilms), and the development of casting techniques to avoid bifilm formation. He has worked for over ten years with his partner in the USA, John Grassi, to set up a new casting operation, Alotech, helping to develop the new and exciting Ablation Casting Process. Although currently demonstrated for Mg and Al alloy castings, exploratory work is underway to expand the process to steels. Honda have become a major licensee. He is the author of the foundry text books â€œCASTINGSâ€ and â€œCASTINGS PRACTICEâ€. These 1991 and 2004 publications are much quoted but getting awfully out-of-date. His new â€œCOMPLETE CASTING HANDBOOKâ€ published in 2011 and revised in 2015 is not light bedtime reading, but is a bargain for the determined and fearless reader with an open mind. The â€œMINI CASTING HANDBOOKâ€ 2018 is a basic text specifically written for the shop floor foundryman. His invited lecture to the American Foundry Society in 2012, â€œStop Pouring; Start Castingâ€, recommended the industry to move away from all pouring of metal, re-designing their foundries to adopt new melting and counter-gravity techniques for the production of defect-free castings. His latest book â€œTHE ORIGIN OF FRACTURE â€“ THE MECHANISMS OF METALLURGICAL FAILUREâ€ published in 2020 describes the possible elimination of failure mechanisms such as cracking, creep, fatigue, stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement in steels and high temperature alloys by eliminating turbulent pouring of the liquid metal. These low cost and simple developments promise a revolution in metallurgy and engineering. T. Pong received a B.Eng. from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2002 with 1st class honours. Then he obtained a PhD in engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Magnetic Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for three years. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research interest focuses on the fault detection, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection of power grid. He is the Founding Director of the Green Technology Research and Training Laboratory, leading the research and education activities of offshore wind energy at NJIT. Philip Pong is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP), a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI), a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), a Fellow of the NANOSMAT Society (FNS), a chartered physicist (CPhys), a chartered engineer (CEng), a chartered energy engineer, a registered professional engineer (R.P.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Energy), and a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE). He is currently Director of the joint Imperial-Tsinghua Research Centre on Intelligent Power and Energy Systems, Leading Author in IPCC WG 3, Member of OFGEM RIIO-2 Challenging Group, Member of the UK Smart System Forum, Member of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for the Energy Transition, and Member of the Joint EU Programme in Energy Systems Integration of the European Energy Research Alliance. His research aims to explore the multiscale physics and mechanics underlying the macroscopic soil behavior using the discrete element method (DEM) simulation and X-ray computed tomography (CT). His works over the past 20 years include the X-ray CT characterization of micro-structures and micro-morphologies of geomaterials, and the DEM modeling and analysis of fundamental soil behaviors of crushable sands and their applications in various kinds of geotechnical engineering problems such as pile foundation, slope stability and retaining structures, etc. Dr. Wang has received a number of prestigious international research awards including VEBLEO fellow 2022, International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) award 2022, Geotechnical Research Medal (UK Institution of Civil Engineers) 2011 and Higher Education Institutions Outstanding Research Award - Natural Science Award (the Ministry of Education of China) 2010.
