follow<MG190> him into the house<MG3614> that he enters<MG1531>. <a href="/luke/22-11.htm">11</a>And you shall say<MG3004> to the owner<MG3617> of the house<MG3614>, ‘The Teacher<MG1320> says<MG3004> to you, “Where<MG4226> is the guest<MG2646> room<MG2646> in which<MG3699> I may eat<MG2068> the Passover<MG3957> with My disciples<MG3101>?”’ <a href="/luke/22-12.htm">12</a>And he will show<MG1166> you a large<MG3173>, furnished<MG4766> upstairs<MG311b> room<MG311b>; prepare<MG2090> it there<MG1563>.” <a href="/luke/22-13.htm">13</a>And they left<MG565> and found<MG2147> everything just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> He had told<MG3004> them; and they prepared<MG2090> the Passover<MG3957>. The Lord’s Supper<a href="/luke/22-14.htm">14</a>When<MG3753> the hour<MG5610> came<MG1096>, He reclined<MG377> at the table, and the apostles<MG652> with Him. <a href="/luke/22-15.htm">15</a>And He said<MG3004> to them, “I have eagerly<MG1939> desired<MG1937> to eat<MG2068> this<MG3778> Passover<MG3957> with you before<MG4253> I suffer<MG3958>; <a href="/luke/22-16.htm">16</a>for I say<MG3004> to you, I shall not eat<MG2068> it again until<MG2193> it is fulfilled<MG4137> in the kingdom<MG932> of God<MG2316>.” <a href="/luke/22-17.htm">17</a>And when He had taken<MG1209> a cup<MG4221> and given<MG2168> thanks<MG2168>, He said<MG3004>, “Take<MG2983> this<MG3778> and share<MG1266> it among<MG1519> yourselves<MG1438>; <a href="/luke/22-18.htm">18</a>for I say<MG3004> to you, I will not drink<MG4095> of the fruit<MG1079b> of the vine<MG288> from now<MG3568> on until<MG2193> the kingdom<MG932> of God<MG2316> comes<MG2064>.” <a href="/luke/22-19.htm">19</a>And when He had taken<MG2983> some bread<MG740> and given<MG2168> thanks<MG2168>, He broke<MG2806> it and gave<MG1325> it to them, saying<MG3004>, “This<MG3778> is My body<MG4983>, which is being given<MG1325> for you; do<MG4160> this<MG3778> in remembrance<MG364> of Me.” <a href="/luke/22-20.htm">20</a>And in the same<MG5615> way<MG5615> He took the cup<MG4221> after<MG3326> they had eaten<MG1172>, saying<MG3004>, “This<MG3778> cup<MG4221>, which is poured<MG1632b> out<MG1632b> for you, is the new<MG2537> covenant<MG1242> in My blood<MG129>. <a href="/luke/22-21.htm">21</a>But behold<MG2400>, the hand<MG5495> of the one betraying<MG3860> Me is with <a href="#fn">[d]</a>Mine<MG1473> on the table<MG5132>. <a href="/luke/22-22.htm">22</a>For indeed<MG3303a>, the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> is going<MG4198> as it has<MG2192> been determined<MG3724>; but woe<MG3759> to that man<MG444> by whom<MG3739> He is betrayed<MG3860>!” <a href="/luke/22-23.htm">23</a>And they began<MG757> to debate<MG4802> among<MG4314> themselves<MG1438> which<MG5101> one of them it was who was<MG3195> going<MG3195> to<MG3195> do<MG4238> this<MG3778>. Who Is Greatest<a href="/luke/22-24.htm">24</a>And a dispute<MG5379> also<MG2532> developed<MG1096> among<MG1722> them as to which<MG5101> one of them was regarded<MG1380> as being<MG1510> the greatest<MG3173>. <a href="/luke/22-25.htm">25</a>And He said<MG3004> to them, “The kings<MG935> of the Gentiles<MG1484> domineer<MG2961> over<MG2961> them; and those<MG3588> who have<MG1850> authority<MG1850> over<MG1850> them are called<MG2564> ‘Benefactors<MG2110>.’ <a href="/luke/22-26.htm">26</a>But it is not this<MG3779> way<MG3779> for you; rather<MG235>, the one<MG3739> who is the greatest<MG3173> among<MG1722> you must become<MG1096> like<MG5613> the youngest<MG3501b>, and the leader<MG2233> like<MG5613> the servant<MG1247>. <a href="/luke/22-27.htm">27</a>For who<MG5101> is greater<MG3173>, the one who reclines<MG345> at the table or<MG2228> the one who serves<MG1247>? Is it not the one who reclines<MG345> at the table? But I am<MG1510> among<MG1722, 3319> you as the one who serves<MG1247>. <a href="/luke/22-28.htm">28</a>“You are the ones who have stood<MG1265> by Me in My trials<MG3986>; <a href="/luke/22-29.htm">29</a>and just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> My Father<MG3962> has<MG2192> granted<MG1303> Me a kingdom<MG932>, I grant<MG1303> you <a href="/luke/22-30.htm">30</a>that you may eat<MG2068> and drink<MG4095> at My table<MG5132> in My kingdom<MG932>, and you will sit<MG2521> on thrones<MG2362> judging<MG2919> the twelve<MG1427> tribes<MG5443> of Israel<MG2474>. <a href="/luke/22-31.htm">31</a>“Simon<MG4613>, Simon<MG4613>, behold<MG2400>, Satan<MG4567> has<MG2192> <a href="#fn">[e]</a>demanded<MG1809> to sift<MG4617a> you men like<MG5613> wheat<MG4621>; <a href="/luke/22-32.htm">32</a>but I have prayed<MG1189a> for <a href="#fn">[f]</a>you, that <a href="#fn">[g]</a>your faith<MG4102> will not fail<MG1587>; and <a href="#fn">[h]</a>you, when<MG4218> you have <a href="#fn">[i]</a>turned<MG1994> back<MG1994>, strengthen<MG4741> your brothers<MG80>.” <a href="/luke/22-33.htm">33</a>But he said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, I am<MG1510> ready<MG2092> to go<MG4198> with You both<MG2532> to prison<MG5438> and to death<MG2288>!” <a href="/luke/22-34.htm">34</a>But He said<MG3004>, “I tell<MG3004> you, Peter<MG4074>, the rooster<MG220> will not crow<MG5455> today<MG4594> until<MG2193> you have denied<MG533> three<MG5151> times<MG5151> that you know<MG3609a> Me.” <a href="/luke/22-35.htm">35</a>And He said<MG3004> to them, “When<MG3753> I sent<MG649> you out<MG649> without<MG817> money<MG905> belt<MG905> and bag<MG4082> and sandals<MG5266>, you did not lack<MG5302> anything<MG5100>, did you?” They said<MG3004>, “No, nothing<MG3762>.” <a href="/luke/22-36.htm">36</a>And He said<MG3004> to them, “But now<MG3568>, <a href="#fn">[j]</a>whoever<MG3588> has<MG2192> a money<MG905> belt<MG905> is to take<MG142> it along, likewise<MG3668> also<MG2532> a bag<MG4082>, and <a href="#fn">[k]</a>whoever<MG3588> has<MG2192> no<MG3361> sword<MG3162> is to sell<MG4453> his <a href="#fn">[l]</a>cloak<MG2440> and buy<MG59> one. <a href="/luke/22-37.htm">37</a>For I tell<MG3004> you that this<MG3778> which is written<MG1125> must<MG1163> be fulfilled<MG5055> in Me: ‘AND HE WAS COUNTED<MG3049> WITH WRONGDOERS<MG459>’; for that which refers<MG4012> to Me has<MG2192> its <a href="#fn">[m]</a>fulfillment<MG5056>.” <a href="/luke/22-38.htm">38</a>They said<MG3004>, “Lord<MG2962>, look<MG2400>, here<MG5602> are two<MG1417> swords<MG3162>.” And He said<MG3004> to them, “It is enough<MG2425>.” The Garden of Gethsemane<a href="/luke/22-39.htm">39</a>And He came<MG1831> out<MG1831> and went<MG4198>, as was His habit<MG1485>, to the Mount<MG3735> of Olives<MG1636>; and the disciples<MG3101> also<MG2532> followed<MG190> Him. <a href="/luke/22-40.htm">40</a>Now<MG1161> when He arrived<MG1096> at the place<MG5117>, He said<MG3004> to them, “Pray<MG4336> that you do not come<MG1525> into<MG1525> temptation<MG3986>.” <a href="/luke/22-41.htm">41</a>And He withdrew<MG645> from them about<MG5616> a stone’s<MG3037> throw<MG1000>, and He knelt<MG1119, 5087> down<MG5087, 1119> and began to pray<MG4336>, <a href="/luke/22-42.htm">42</a>saying<MG3004>, “Father<MG3962>, if<MG1487> You are willing<MG1014>, remove<MG3911> this<MG3778> cup<MG4221> from Me; yet<MG4133> not My will<MG2307>, but Yours<MG4674> be done<MG1096>.” <a href="/luke/22-43.htm">43</a>[<a href="#fn">[n]</a>Now<MG1161> an angel<MG32a> from heaven<MG3772> appeared<MG3708> to Him, strengthening<MG1765> Him. <a href="/luke/22-44.htm">44</a>And being<MG1096> in agony<MG74>, He was praying<MG4336> very fervently<MG1618>; and His sweat<MG2402> became<MG1096> like<MG5616> drops<MG2361> of blood<MG129>, falling<MG2597> down<MG2597> upon the ground<MG1093>]. <a href="/luke/22-45.htm">45</a>When He rose<MG450> from prayer<MG4335>, He came<MG2064> to the disciples<MG3101> and found<MG2147> them sleeping<MG2837> from sorrow<MG3077>, <a href="/luke/22-46.htm">46</a>and He said<MG3004> to them, “Why<MG5101> are<MG2518> you sleeping<MG2518>? Get<MG450> up<MG450> and pray<MG4336> that you do not come<MG1525> into<MG1525> temptation<MG3986>.” Jesus Betrayed by Judas<a href="/luke/22-47.htm">47</a>While He was still<MG2089> speaking<MG2980>, behold<MG2400>, a crowd<MG3793> came, and the one called<MG3004> Judas<MG2455>, one<MG1520> of the twelve<MG1427>, was leading<MG4281> the<MG4281> way<MG4281> for them; and he approached<MG1448> Jesus<MG2424> to kiss<MG5368> Him. <a href="/luke/22-48.htm">48</a>But Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to him, “Judas<MG2455>, are you betraying<MG3860> the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> with a kiss<MG5370>?” <a href="/luke/22-49.htm">49</a>When those<MG3588> who<MG3588> were around<MG4012> Him saw<MG3708> what was going to happen<MG1510>, they said<MG3004>, “Lord<MG2962>, shall we strike<MG3960> with the sword<MG3162>?” <a href="/luke/22-50.htm">50</a>And one<MG1520> of them struck<MG3960> the slave<MG1401> of the high<MG749> priest<MG749> and cut<MG851> off<MG851> his right<MG1188> ear<MG3775>. <a href="/luke/22-51.htm">51</a>But Jesus<MG2424> responded<MG611> and said<MG3004>, “<a href="#fn">[o]</a>Stop<MG1439>! No<MG2193> more<MG2193> of this<MG3778>.” And He touched<MG681> his ear<MG5621b> and healed<MG2390> him. <a href="/luke/22-52.htm">52</a>And Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and officers<MG4755> of the temple<MG2413> and elders<MG4245> who had come<MG3854> against<MG1909> Him, “Have you come<MG1831> out<MG1831> with swords<MG3162> and clubs<MG3586> as you would against<MG1909> a man<MG3027> inciting<MG3027> a<MG3027> revolt<MG3027>? <a href="/luke/22-53.htm">53</a>While I was with you daily<MG2596, 2250> in the temple<MG2413>, you did not lay<MG1614> hands<MG5495> on Me; but <a href="#fn">[p]</a>this<MG3778> hour<MG5610> and the power<MG1849> of darkness<MG4655> are yours<MG4771>.” Jesus’ Arrest<a href="/luke/22-54.htm">54</a>Now<MG1161> they arrested<MG4815> Him and led<MG71> Him away, and brought<MG1521> Him to the house<MG3614> of the high<MG749> priest<MG749>; but Peter<MG4074> was following<MG190> at<MG3113> a<MG3113> distance<MG3113>. <a href="/luke/22-55.htm">55</a>After they kindled<MG4015a> a fire<MG4442> in the middle<MG3319> of the courtyard<MG833> and sat<MG4776> down<MG4776> together<MG4776>, Peter<MG4074> was sitting<MG2521> among<MG3319> them. <a href="/luke/22-56.htm">56</a>And a slave<MG3814> woman<MG3814>, seeing<MG3708> him as he sat<MG2521> in the firelight<MG5457>, and staring<MG816> at him, said<MG3004>, “This<MG3778> man<MG3778> was with Him as<MG2532> well<MG2532>.” <a href="/luke/22-57.htm">57</a>But he denied<MG720> it, saying<MG3004>, “I do not know<MG3609a> Him, woman<MG1135>!” <a href="/luke/22-58.htm">58</a>And a little<MG1024> later<MG3326>, another<MG2087> person<MG2087> saw<MG3708> him and said<MG5346>, “You are one of them too<MG2532>!” But Peter<MG4074> said<MG5346>, “Man<MG444>, I am<MG1510> not!” <a href="/luke/22-59.htm">59</a>And after about<MG5616> an hour<MG5610> had passed<MG1339>, some<MG5100> other<MG243> man<MG243> began to insist<MG1340>, saying<MG3004>, “Certainly<MG1909, 225> this<MG3778> man<MG3778> also<MG2532> was with Him, for he, too<MG2532>, is a Galilean<MG1057>.” <a href="/luke/22-60.htm">60</a>But Peter<MG4074> said<MG3004>, “Man<MG444>, I do not know<MG3609a> what<MG3739> you are talking<MG3004> about!” And immediately<MG3916>, while he was still<MG2089> speaking<MG2980>, a rooster<MG220> crowed<MG5455>. <a href="/luke/22-61.htm">61</a>And then the Lord<MG2962> turned<MG4762> and looked<MG1689> at<MG1689> Peter<MG4074>. And Peter<MG4074> remembered<MG5279> the word<MG3056> of the Lord<MG2962>, how<MG5613> He had told<MG3004> him, “Before<MG4250> a rooster<MG220> crows<MG5455> today<MG4594>, you will deny<MG533> Me three<MG5151> times<MG5151>.” <a href="/luke/22-62.htm">62</a>And he went<MG1831> out<MG1831> and wept<MG2799> bitterly<MG4090>. <a href="/luke/22-63.htm">63</a>The men<MG435> who were holding<MG4912> <a href="#fn">[q]</a>Jesus in<MG4912> custody<MG4912> began mocking<MG1702> Him and beating<MG1194> Him, <a href="/luke/22-64.htm">64</a>and they blindfolded<MG4028> Him and repeatedly asked<MG1905> Him, saying<MG3004>, “Prophesy<MG4395>, who<MG5101> is the one who hit<MG3817> You?” <a href="/luke/22-65.htm">65</a>And they were saying<MG3004> many<MG4183> other<MG2087> things<MG4183> against<MG1519> Him, blaspheming<MG987>. Jesus before the Sanhedrin<a href="/luke/22-66.htm">66</a>When<MG5613> it was day<MG2250>, the <a href="#fn">[r]</a>Council<MG4244> of<MG4244> elders<MG4244> of the people<MG2992> assembled<MG4863>, both<MG5037> chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and scribes<MG1122>, and they led<MG520> Him away<MG520> to their council<MG4892> chamber<MG4892>, saying<MG3004>, <a href="/luke/22-67.htm">67</a>“If<MG1487> You are the <a href="#fn">[s]</a>Christ<MG5547>, tell<MG3004> us.” But He said<MG3004> to them, “If<MG1437> I tell<MG3004> you, you will not believe<MG4100>; <a href="/luke/22-68.htm">68</a>and if<MG1437> I ask<MG2065> a<MG2065> question<MG2065>, you will not answer<MG611>. <a href="/luke/22-69.htm">69</a>But from now<MG3568> on the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> will be seated<MG2521> at the right<MG1188> hand<MG1188> of the power<MG1411> of God<MG2316>.” <a href="/luke/22-70.htm">70</a>And they all<MG3956> said<MG3004>, “So<MG3767> You are the Son<MG5207> of God<MG2316>?” And He said<MG5346> to them, “You say correctly that I am<MG1510>.” <a href="/luke/22-71.htm">71</a>And then they said<MG3004>, “What<MG5101> further<MG2089> need<MG5532> do we have<MG2192> of testimony<MG3141>?
