Microjuris.com Puerto Rico</a></span><span class="posted-on th-block"><time class="entry-date published" datetime="2014-07-15T23:42:22-04:00">15 julio 2014</time><time class="updated" datetime="2023-03-16T13:53:57-04:00">16 marzo 2023</time></span> </div> </header> <div class="entry-content hentry-wrapper th-content th-w-single-view md:th-px-4xl sm:th-px-lg th-px-base"> <p>La Lcda. <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/maite-oronoz-rodriguez/">Maite Oronoz Rodríguez</a> juramentó como jueza asociada del <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/tribunal-supremo-de-puerto-rico/">Tribunal Supremo de Puerto Rico</a>.</p> <p>La Lcda. Oronoz Rodríguez fue nominada al Tribunal Supremo el pasado 4 de junio, confirmada por el Senado el 23 de junio y ahora ocupará la vacante dejada por la jueza <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/liana-fiol-matta/">Liana Fiol Matta</a>, tras ser nombrada y confirmada como Jueza Presidente del Tribunal Supremo de Puerto Rico.</p> <p>Al prestar juramento, Oronoz Rodríguez reafirmó su compromiso con la justicia. “Declaro con firmeza que mi compromiso siempre va a estar con los que reclaman justicia, irrespectivo de raza, color, género, nacionalidad, origen o condición social, orientación o identidad sexual, ideas políticas o religiosas. Ese es mi juramento: un trato digno, justo y equitativo para todos y todas ante la ley”, afirmó.</p> <p>La nueva jueza asociada destacó durante su mensaje el valor que aporta la diversidad de criterios e ideologías de los y las integrantes del Tribunal. “El Tribunal es hoy uno más abierto a la diversidad, con hombres y ahora, por primera vez en la historia, con cuatro mujeres que promulgan un sentido más representativo de nuestra sociedad. Nueve jueces y juezas con valores, ideologías, trasfondos y filosofías judiciales distintas que no pueden sino enriquecer nuestro debate constitucional”, aseveró la jueza Oronoz Rodríguez.</p> <p>Asimismo, la jueza asociada destacó el valor de la <a title="Constitución de Puerto Rico, Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico" href="https://pr.microjuris.com/ConnectorPanel/ImagenServlet?reference=/images/file/PR.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado</strong></a> y reafirmó su firme compromiso con la independencia judicial.</p> <p>“En Puerto Rico, afortunadamente, contamos con una guía y herramienta poderosa para hacer Justicia: nuestra Constitución. Y no me refiero a Justicia en el sentido romántico de la palabra, sino en el sentido práctico y decisivo de un concepto que es fundamental. Es esa que nos mueve, no la que nos detiene. La pienso, a esa Justicia, en el sentido transformativo y de avance del derecho a través de la historia. Una Justicia que se nutre o más bien, se origina, desde la inmersión en los hechos únicos de cada caso, con cada circunstancia, con el contexto histórico y la realidad del país, sin que se lesione el derecho”, expresó convencida.</p> <p>Con respecto a la independencia judicial expresó que “para mí la independencia judicial no es un privilegio de los jueces, es un derecho de los que acuden ante los jueces. Es el requisito de que los derechos de cada cual lleguen a un foro libre e imparcial. A un foro donde la transparencia sea condición <em>sine qua non</em>, esencial, obligatoria, imprescindible”.</p> <p>Por su parte, la Jueza Presidente <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/liana-fiol-matta/">Fiol Matta</a>, ofreció en su nombre y en el de los integrantes del Tribunal una calurosa bienvenida a la jueza Oronoz Rodríguez y destacó el valor de su nombramiento en términos de la representación de la diversidad social que representa.</p> <p>“Con nombramientos como el que hoy celebramos, reiteramos, como Pueblo, que las perspectivas masculina y femenina, junto a otras igualmente presentes en nuestra sociedad, como las de raza, condición social, orientación sexual y creencias religiosas o ausencia de estas, son indispensables para que prevalezca la justicia. Reconocemos así que el Derecho no existe para restringir la construcción de nuevas visiones y que se necesita abordar los problemas legales como se abordan los problemas sociales, desde las múltiples perspectivas que surgen de nuestra estimulante diversidad”.</p> <p>La nueva jueza asociada posee una maestría en Leyes de la Universidad de Columbia en Nueva York y un Juris Doctor de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, donde se graduó Magna Cum Laude. Además, realizó un bachillerato en Historia de la Universidad de Villanova en Pensilvania y tomó cursos de historia, literatura e italiano de la Universidad de Florencia en Italia.</p> <p>Asimismo, fue miembro de la <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/revista-juridica-de-la-universidad-de-puerto-rico/">Revista Jurídica</a> y reconocida por su desempeño sobresaliente, tanto a nivel académico como en servicio comunitario.</p> <p>En el 2001, se incorporó a la práctica del Derecho trabajando para el bufete <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/mcconnell-valdes/">McConnell Valdés</a> en las áreas de discriminación en el empleo, contratos y asuntos constitucionales. Fue asistente jurídico del exjuez presidente del Tribunal Supremo, Hon. <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/federico-hernandez-denton/">Federico Hernández Denton</a>, y luego fue designada como subprocuradora general de Justicia desde el 2005 al 2008.</p> <p>En el 2009 comenzó a trabajar en el bufete <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/sepulvado-y-maldonado-llc/">Sepulvado y Maldonado LLC</a>, especializándose en casos de litigio comercial y civil, tanto en las cortes de Puerto Rico como en la corte federal. En el 2013, fue designada directora de la División Legal del <a href="http://aldia.microjuris.com/tag/municipio-de-san-juan/">Municipio de San Juan</a> por la alcaldesa Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto. Fue designada jueza asociada del Tribunal Supremo por el Gobernador de Puerto Rico, Hon. Alejandro García Padilla, el pasado 4 de junio de este año.</p> <p>La ceremonia contó con la participación del gobernador García Padilla y del Presidente del Senado, Hon. Eduardo Bhatia Gautier, además de amigos y familiares de la Jueza Oronoz Rodríguez. También estuvieron presentes el presidente de la Cámara de Representantes, Hon. Jaime Perelló Borrás y la alcaldesa de la Ciudad de San Juan, Hon.
