Moses is a central figure in Israel's history, serving as a mediator between God and His people. The law given through Moses includes the Ten Commandments and other instructions that form the basis of Israel's covenant relationship with God. This call to remembrance underscores the continuity of God's revelation and the enduring relevance of His commandments.
the statutes and ordinances
Statutes and ordinances refer to the specific laws and decrees that were part of the Mosaic Law. These include moral, ceremonial, and civil laws that governed the life of Israel. The statutes and ordinances were designed to set Israel apart as a holy nation and to guide them in righteous living. They reflect God's character and His desire for justice, mercy, and faithfulness among His people.
I commanded him for all Israel
The law was given to Moses for the entire nation of Israel, indicating its universal application to God's chosen people. This highlights the collective responsibility of the nation to adhere to God's commands.
