The modelling framework integrated selected pedotransfer functions and watershed models with geospatial tools. A number of pedotransfer functions and agricultural watershed models were examined to select the appropriate models that represent the study site conditions. Models selection was based on statistical measures of the models’ errors compared to the KSAT field measurements conducted in the CCW under different soil, climate and land use conditions. The study has shown that the predictions of the combined pedotransfer function of Rosetta and the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) provided the best agreement to the measured KSAT values in the CCW compared to the other tested models. Therefore, Rosetta and WEPP were integrated with the Geographic Information System (GIS) tools for visualization of the data in forms of geospatial maps and prediction of KSAT variability in CCW due to the seasonal changes in climate and land use activities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=saturated%20hydraulic%20conductivity" title="saturated hydraulic conductivity">saturated hydraulic conductivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pedotransfer%20functions" title=" pedotransfer functions"> pedotransfer functions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=watershed%20models" title=" watershed models"> watershed models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geospatial%20tools" title=" geospatial tools"> geospatial tools</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5877/prediction-of-saturated-hydraulic-conductivity-dynamics-in-an-iowan-agriculture-watershed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5877.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">281</span> Network Based Molecular Profiling of Intracranial Ependymoma over Spinal Ependymoma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyeon%20Su%20Kim">Hyeon Su Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sungjin%20Park"> Sungjin Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hae%20Ryung%20Chang"> Hae Ryung Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hae%20Rim%20Jung"> Hae Rim Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young%20Zoo%20Ahn"> Young Zoo Ahn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yon%20Hui%20Kim"> Yon Hui Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seungyoon%20Nam"> Seungyoon Nam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Ependymoma, one of the most common parenchymal spinal cord tumor, represents 3-6% of all CNS tumor. Especially intracranial ependymomas, which are more frequent in childhood, have a more poor prognosis and more malignant than spinal ependymomas. Although there are growing needs to understand pathogenesis, detailed molecular understanding of pathogenesis remains to be explored. A cancer cell is composed of complex signaling pathway networks, and identifying interaction between genes and/or proteins are crucial for understanding these pathways. Therefore, we explored each ependymoma in terms of differential expressed genes and signaling networks. We used Microsoft Excel™ to manipulate microarray data gathered from NCBI’s GEO Database. To analyze and visualize signaling network, we used web-based PATHOME algorithm and Cytoscape. We show HOX family and NEFL are down-regulated but SCL family is up-regulated in cerebrum and posterior fossa cancers over a spinal cancer, and JAK/STAT signaling pathway and Chemokine signaling pathway are significantly different in the both intracranial ependymoma comparing to spinal ependymoma. We are considering there may be an age-dependent mechanism under different histological pathogenesis. We annotated mutation data of each gene subsequently in order to find potential target genes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20biology" title="systems biology">systems biology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ependymoma" title=" ependymoma"> ependymoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deg" title=" deg"> deg</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network%20analysis" title=" network analysis"> network analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50168/network-based-molecular-profiling-of-intracranial-ependymoma-over-spinal-ependymoma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50168.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">280</span> A Potential Spin-orbit Torque Device Using the Tri-layer Structure</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Wei%20Cheng">Chih-Wei Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei-Jen%20Chan"> Wei-Jen Chan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Han%20Huang"> Yu-Han Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Tsung%20Lin"> Yi-Tsung Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Wei%20Huang"> Yen-Wei Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Cheng%20Chen"> Min-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shou-Zen%20Chang"> Shou-Zen Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G.%20Chern"> G. We propose a CoFeB/Ta/CoFeB tri-layer antiferromagnetic SOT device that could meet the above requirements. The device’s PMA was developed by adopting CoFeB–MgO interface. The key to the success of this structure is to ensure that (i)changes of the inter-layer coupling(IEC) and CoFeB anisotropy can occur simultaneously; (ii) one of the CoFeB needs to have a slightly tilted moment in the beginning. When sufficient current is given, the SHEreverses the already-tiltedCoFeB, and the other CoFeB can be reversed simultaneously by the IEC with the field-free nature. Adjusting the thickness of Ta can modify the coupling state to reduce the switching current while the field-free nature was preserved. Micromagnetic simulation suggests that the Néel orange peel effect (NOPE) is non-negligible due to interface roughness and coupling effect in the presence of perpendicular anisotropy. Fortunately, the Néel field induced by the NOPE appears to favor the field-free reversal. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CoFeB" title="CoFeB">CoFeB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spin-orbit%20torque" title=" spin-orbit torque"> spin-orbit torque</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antiferromagnetic" title=" antiferromagnetic"> antiferromagnetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MRAM" title=" MRAM"> MRAM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trilayer" title=" trilayer"> trilayer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357/a-potential-spin-orbit-torque-device-using-the-tri-layer-structure" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">279</span> Electrospinning Preparation of Superhydrophobic Polydimethylsiloxane/Polystyrene Nanofibrous Membranes for Carbon Dioxide Capture</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Yu%20Chang">Chia-Yu Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Feng%20Lin"> Yi-Feng Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> CO2 capture has attracted significant research attention due to global warming. Among the various CO2 capture methods, membrane technology has proven to be highly efficient in capturing CO2 due to the ease at which this technology can be scaled up, its low energy consumptions, small area requirements and overall environmental friendliness for use by industrial plants. Capturing CO2 is to use a membrane contactor with a combination of water-repellent porous membranes and chemical absorption processes. In a CO2 membrane contactor system, CO2 passes through a hydrophobic porous membrane in the gas phase to contact the amine absorbent in the liquid phase. Consequently, additional CO2 gas is absorbed by amine absorbents. This study examines highly porous Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)/Polystyrene (PS) Nanofibrous Membranes and successfully coated onto a macroporous Al2O3 membrane. The performance of these materials in a membrane contactor system for CO2 absorption is also investigated. Compared with pristine PS nanofibrous membranes, the PDMS/PS nanofibrous membranes exhibit greater solvent resistance and mechanical strength, making them more suitable for use in CO2 capture by the membrane contactor. The resulting hydrophobic membrane contactor also demonstrates the potential for large-scale CO2 absorption during post-combustion processes in power plants. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CO2%20capture" title="CO2 capture">CO2 capture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polystyrene" title=" polystyrene"> polystyrene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polydimethylsiloxane" title=" polydimethylsiloxane"> polydimethylsiloxane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=superhydrophobic" title=" superhydrophobic"> superhydrophobic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21442/electrospinning-preparation-of-superhydrophobic-polydimethylsiloxanepolystyrene-nanofibrous-membranes-for-carbon-dioxide-capture" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21442.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">388</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">278</span> Relationships among Parentification, Self-Differentiation, and Ambivalence over Emotional Expression for Children of Migratory Families</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wan-Chun%20Chang">Wan-Chun Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Jung%20Lee"> Yi-Jung Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to cultural factors, expressing emotions may not be encouraged in collectivist cultures, which emphasize the needs of the group over the needs of the individual. This phenomenon is more prominent for children of migratory families. Due to the absence of one parent, children were often parentified by adults, which then impacted on their self-differentiation process. It made them more difficult to express their needs and emotions freely and openly. This study aimed to investigate the meditation effect of self-differentiation between parentification, and ambivalence over emotional expression for children of migratory families in Taiwan. Participants included 460 (326 females, 134 males) Taiwanese adults (age 18-25 years). The data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The questionnaire included informed consent form, 'Filial Responsibility Scale-Adult', 'Chinese version of the Differentiation of Self Inventory', 'Ambivalence over Emotion Expressiveness Questionnaire', and the demographic sheet. Results indicated that self-differentiation mediated the relationship between parentified experience and ambivalence over emotional expression. In other words, parentified experience itself does not have the power to affect ambivalence over emotional expression. Only by affecting self-differentiation can it make an actual difference. The results were as expected and confirmed the hypothesis. Implications for clinical practice, research, and training were discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ambivalence%20over%20emotional%20expression" title="ambivalence over emotional expression">ambivalence over emotional expression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children%20of%20migratory%20families" title=" children of migratory families"> children of migratory families</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parentification" title=" parentification"> parentification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-differentiation" title=" self-differentiation"> self-differentiation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128589/relationships-among-parentification-self-differentiation-and-ambivalence-over-emotional-expression-for-children-of-migratory-families" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128589.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">133</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">277</span> Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors: Based Force Sensor Array for Occlusal Force Measurement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheng-Che%20Chen">Sheng-Che Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Keng-Ren%20Lin"> Keng-Ren Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Che-Hsin%20Lin"> Che-Hsin Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hao-Yuan%20Tseng"> Hao-Yuan Tseng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Han%20Chang"> Chih-Han Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Teeth play an important role in providing the essential nutrients. The force loading of chewing on the crow is important condition to evaluate long-term success of many dental treatments. However, the quantification of the force regarding forces are distributed over the dental crow is still not well recognized. This study presents an industrial-grade piezoelectric-based multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) force sensor for measuring the distribution of the force distribute over the first molar. The developed sensor array is based on a flexible polyimide electrode and barium titanate-based MLCCs. MLCCs are commonly used in the electronic industry and it is a typical electric component composed of BaTiO₃, which is used as a capacitive material. The most important is that it also can be used as a force-sensing component by its piezoelectric property. In this study, to increase the sensitivity as well as to reduce the variation of different MLCCs, a treatment process is utilized. The MLCC force sensors are able to measure large forces (above 500 N), making them suitable for measuring the bite forces on the tooth crown. Moreover, the sensors also show good force response and good repeatability. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=force%20sensor%20array" title="force sensor array">force sensor array</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multilayer%20ceramic%20capacitors" title=" multilayer ceramic capacitors"> multilayer ceramic capacitors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=occlusal%20force" title=" occlusal force"> occlusal force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piezoelectric" title=" piezoelectric"> piezoelectric</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45572/multilayer-ceramic-capacitors-based-force-sensor-array-for-occlusal-force-measurement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45572.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">411</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">276</span> Automatic Music Score Recognition System Using Digital Image Processing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuan-Hsiang%20Chang">Yuan-Hsiang Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhong-Xian%20Peng"> Zhong-Xian Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-Der%20Jeng"> Li-Der Jeng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Music has always been an integral part of human&rsquo;s daily lives. But, for the most people, reading musical score and turning it into melody is not easy. This study aims to develop an <em>Automatic music score recognition system using digital image processing</em>, which can be used to read and analyze musical score images automatically. The technical approaches included: (1) staff region segmentation; (2) image preprocessing; (3) note recognition; and (4) accidental and rest recognition. Digital image processing techniques (e.g., horizontal /vertical projections, connected component labeling, morphological processing, template matching, etc.) were applied according to musical notes, accidents, and rests in staff notations. Preliminary results showed that our system could achieve detection and recognition rates of 96.3% and 91.7%, respectively. In conclusion, we presented an effective automated musical score recognition system that could be integrated in a system with a media player to play music/songs given input images of musical score. Ultimately, this system could also be incorporated in applications for mobile devices as a learning tool, such that a music player could learn to play music/songs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=connected%20component%20labeling" title="connected component labeling">connected component labeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20processing" title=" image processing"> image processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20processing" title=" morphological processing"> morphological processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20musical%20recognition" title=" optical musical recognition"> optical musical recognition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13588/automatic-music-score-recognition-system-using-digital-image-processing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13588.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">419</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">275</span> Active Islanding Detection Method Using Intelligent Controller</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuang-Hsiung%20Tan">Kuang-Hsiung Tan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Chan%20Hu"> Chih-Chan Hu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Wu%20Lan"> Chien-Wu Lan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shih-Sung%20Lin"> Shih-Sung Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Te-Jen%20Chang"> Te-Jen Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An active islanding detection method using disturbance signal injection with intelligent controller is proposed in this study. First, a DC\AC power inverter is emulated in the distributed generator (DG) system to implement the tracking control of active power, reactive power outputs and the islanding detection. The proposed active islanding detection method is based on injecting a disturbance signal into the power inverter system through the <em>d</em>-axis current which leads to a frequency deviation at the terminal of the <em>RLC</em> load when the utility power is disconnected. Moreover, in order to improve the transient and steady-state responses of the active power and reactive power outputs of the power inverter, and to further improve the performance of the islanding detection method, two probabilistic fuzzy neural networks (PFNN) are adopted to replace the traditional proportional-integral (PI) controllers for the tracking control and the islanding detection. Furthermore, the network structure and the online learning algorithm of the PFNN are introduced in detail. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the tracking control and the proposed active islanding detection method are verified with experimental results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20generators" title="distributed generators">distributed generators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=probabilistic%20fuzzy%20neural%20network" title=" probabilistic fuzzy neural network"> probabilistic fuzzy neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=islanding%20detection" title=" islanding detection"> islanding detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-detection%20zone" title=" non-detection zone"> non-detection zone</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39253/active-islanding-detection-method-using-intelligent-controller" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39253.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">274</span> From Waste to Wealth: A Future Paradigm for Plastic Management Using Blockchain Technology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jim%20Shi">Jim Shi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jasmine%20Chang"> Jasmine Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nesreen%20El-Rayes"> Nesreen El-Rayes</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The world has been experiencing a steadily increasing trend in both the production and consumption of plastic. The global consumer revolution should not have been possible without plastic, thanks to its salient feature of inexpensiveness and durability. But, as a two-edged sword, its durable quality has returned to haunt and even jeopardized us. That exacerbating the plastic crisis has attracted various global initiatives and actions. Simultaneously, firms are eager to adopt new technology as they witness and perceive more potential and merit of Industry 4.0 technologies. For example, Blockchain technology (BCT) is drawing the attention of numerous stakeholders because of its wide range of outstanding features that promise to enhance supply chain operations. However, from a research perspective, most of the literature addresses the plastic crisis from either environmental or social perspectives. In contrast, analysis from the data science perspective and technology is relatively scarce. To this end, this study aims to fill this gap and cover the plastic crisis from a holistic view of environmental, social, technological, and business perspectives. In particular, we propose a mathematical model to examine the inclusion of BCT to enhance and improve the efficiency on the upstream and the downstream sides of the plastic value, where the whole value chain is coordinated systematically, and its interoperability can be optimized. Consequently, the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goal and Circular Economics (CE) sustainability can be maximized. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blockchain%20technology" title="blockchain technology">blockchain technology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plastic" title=" plastic"> plastic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=circular%20economy" title=" circular economy"> circular economy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164772/from-waste-to-wealth-a-future-paradigm-for-plastic-management-using-blockchain-technology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164772.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">273</span> Sense Environmental Hormones in Elementary School Teachers and Their in Service Learning Motivation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fu-Chi%20Chuang">Fu-Chi Chuang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Liang"> Yu-Liang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang"> Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Der%20Wang"> Wen-Der Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Our environment has been contaminated by many artificial chemicals, such as plastics, pesticides. Many of them have hormone-like activity and are classified as 'environmental hormone (also named endocrine disruptors)'. These chemicals interfere with or mimic hormones have adverse effects that persist into adulthood. Environmental education is an important way to teach students to become engaged in real-world issues that transcend classroom walls. Elementary education is the first stage to perform environmental education and it is an important component to help students develop adequate environmental knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. However, elementary teachers' knowledge plays a critical role in this mission. Therefore, we use a questionnaire to survey the knowledge of environmental hormone of elementary school teachers and their learning motivation of the environmental hormone-regarding knowledge. We collected 218 questionnaires from Taiwanese elementary teachers and the results indicate around 73% of elementary teachers do not have enough knowledge about environmental hormones. Our results also reveal the in-service elementary teachers’ learning motivation of environmental hormones knowledge is positively enhanced once they realized their insufficient cognitive ability of environmental hormones. We believe our study will provide the powerful reference for Ministry of Education to set up the policy of environmental education to enrich all citizens sufficient knowledge of the effects of the environmental hormone on organisms, and further to enhance our correct environmental behaviors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elementary%20teacher" title="elementary teacher">elementary teacher</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20hormones" title=" environmental hormones"> environmental hormones</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learning%20motivation" title=" learning motivation"> learning motivation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=questionnaire" title=" questionnaire"> questionnaire</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104093/sense-environmental-hormones-in-elementary-school-teachers-and-their-in-service-learning-motivation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104093.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">313</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">272</span> The Association Between COL4A3 Variant RS55703767 With the Susceptibility to Diabetic Kidney Disease in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Results from the Cohort Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zi-Han%20Li">Zi-Han Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zi-Jun%20Sun"> Zi-Jun Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong-Yuan%20Chang"> Dong-Yuan Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li%20Zhu"> Li Zhu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min%20Chen"> Min Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Hui%20Zhao"> Ming-Hui Zhao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Aims: A genome-wide association study (GWAS) reported that patients with the rs55703767 minor allele in collagen type IV α3 chain encoding gene COL4A3 showed protection against diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). However, the role of rs55703767 in type 2 DKD has not been elucidated. The aim of the current study was to investigate the association between COL4A3 variant rs55703767 and DKD risk in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: This nested case-control study was performed on 1311 patients who had T2DM for at least 10 years, including 580 with DKD and 731 without DKD. We detected the genotypes of all patients by TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assay and analyzed the association between COL4A3 variant rs55703767 and DKD risk. Results: Genetic analysis revealed that there was no significant difference between T2DM patients with DKD and those without DKD regarding allele or genotype frequencies of rs55703767, and the effect of this variant was not hyperglycemia specific. Conclusion: Our findings suggested that there was no detectable association between the COL4A3 variant rs55703767 and the susceptibility to DKD in the Chinese T2DM population. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collagen%20type%20IV%20%CE%B13%20chain" title="collagen type IV α3 chain">collagen type IV α3 chain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gene%20polymorphism" title=" gene polymorphism"> gene polymorphism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=type%202%20diabetes" title=" type 2 diabetes"> type 2 diabetes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diabetic%20kidney%20disease" title=" diabetic kidney disease"> diabetic kidney disease</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178985/the-association-between-col4a3-variant-rs55703767-with-the-susceptibility-to-diabetic-kidney-disease-in-patients-with-type-2-diabetes-mellitus-results-from-the-cohort-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178985.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">271</span> Tail-Binding Effect of Kinesin-1 Auto Inhibition Using Elastic Network Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun%20Joon%20Chang">Hyun Joon Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae%20In%20Kim"> Jae In Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sungsoo%20Na"> Sungsoo Na</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Kinesin-1 (hereafter called kinesin) is a molecular motor protein that moves cargos toward the end of microtubules using the energy of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) hydrolysis. When kinesin is inactive, its tail autoinhibits the motor chain in order to prevent from reacting with the ATP by cross-linking of the tail domain to the motor domains at two positions. However, the morphological study of kinesin during autoinhibition is yet remained obscured. In this study, we report the effect of the binding site of the tail domain using the normal mode analysis of the elastic network model on kinesin in the tail-free form and tail-bind form. Considering the relationship between the connectivity of conventional network model with respect to the cutoff length and the functionality of the binding site of the tail, we revaluated the network model to observe the key role of the tail domain in its structural aspect. Contingent on the existence of the tail domain, the results suggest the morphological stability of the motor domain. Furthermore, employing the results from normal mode analysis, we have determined the strain energy of the neck linker, an essential portion of the motor domain for ATP hydrolysis. The results of the neck linker also converge to the same indication, i.e. the morphological analysis of the motor domain. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastic%20network%20model" title="elastic network model">elastic network model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kinesin-1" title=" Kinesin-1"> Kinesin-1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autoinhibition" title=" autoinhibition"> autoinhibition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11825/tail-binding-effect-of-kinesin-1-auto-inhibition-using-elastic-network-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11825.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">455</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">270</span> Design of Speed Bump Recognition System Integrated with Adjustable Shock Absorber Control</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Yen%20Chang">Ming-Yen Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheng-Hung%20Ke"> Sheng-Hung Ke</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research focuses on the development of a speed bump identification system for real-time control of adjustable shock absorbers in vehicular suspension systems. The study initially involved the collection of images of various speed bumps, and rubber speed bump profiles found on roadways. These images were utilized for training and recognition purposes through the deep learning object detection algorithm YOLOv5. Subsequently, the trained speed bump identification program was integrated with an in-vehicle camera system for live image capture during driving. These images were instantly transmitted to a computer for processing. Using the principles of monocular vision ranging, the distance between the vehicle and an approaching speed bump was determined. The appropriate control distance was established through both practical vehicle measurements and theoretical calculations. Collaboratively, with the electronically adjustable shock absorbers equipped in the vehicle, a shock absorber control system was devised to dynamically adapt the damping force just prior to encountering a speed bump. This system effectively mitigates passenger discomfort and enhances ride quality. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adjustable%20shock%20absorbers" title="adjustable shock absorbers">adjustable shock absorbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20recognition" title=" image recognition"> image recognition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monocular%20vision%20ranging" title=" monocular vision ranging"> monocular vision ranging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ride" title=" ride"> ride</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175109/design-of-speed-bump-recognition-system-integrated-with-adjustable-shock-absorber-control" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175109.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">269</span> A Study on the Assessment of Prosthetic Infection after Total Knee Replacement Surgery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Lang%20Chang">Chun-Lang Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Kai%20Liu"> Chun-Kai Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, the patients that have undergone total knee replacement surgery from the 2010 National Health Insurance database were adopted as the study participants. Evolving from original equipment manufacturing (OEM) into value-added original or own brand manufacturing (OBM) in such firms represents a specific process of internationalization. The OEM-OBM upgrade requires development of a firm’s own brand. In this respect, the extant literature points out that emerging-market industrial marketers (latecomers) have developed some marketing capabilities, of which branding has been identified as one of the most important. In specific, an industrial non-brand marketer (OEM) marks the division of labor between manufacturing and branding (as part of marketing). In light of this discussion, this research argues that branding capability plays a critical role in supporting the evolution of manufacture upgrade. This is because a smooth transformation from OEM to OBM entails the establishment of strong brands through which branding capability is developed. Accordingly, branding capability can be exemplified as a series of processes and practices in relation to mobilizing branding resources and orchestrating branding activities, which will result in the establishment of business relationships, greater acceptance of business partners (channels, suppliers), and increased industrial brand equity in the firm as key resource advantages). For the study purpose, Taiwan was chosen as the research context, representing a typical case that exemplifies the industrial development path of more-established emerging markets, namely, transformation from OEM to OBM. This research adopted a two-phase research design comprising exploratory (a qualitative study) and confirmatory approaches (a survey study) The findings show that: Country-specific advantage is positively related to branding capability for internationalizing SMEs. Firm-specific advantage is positively related to branding capability for internationalizing SMEs. Branding capability is positively related to international performance for internationalizing SMEs. This study presents a pioneering effort to distinguish industrial brand marketers from non-brand marketers in exploring the role of branding capability in the internationalizing small and medium-sized industrial brand marketers from emerging markets. Specifically, when industrial non-brand marketers (OEMs) enter into a more advanced stage of internationalization (i.e., OBM), they must overcome disadvantages (liabilities of smallness, foreignness, outsidership) that do not apply in the case of incumbent developed-country MNEs with leading brands. Such critical differences mark the urgency and significance of distinguishing industrial brand marketers from non-brand marketers on issues relating to their value-adding branding and marketing practices in international markets. This research thus makes important contributions to the international marketing, industrial branding, and SME internationalization literature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brand%20marketers" title="brand marketers">brand marketers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=branding%20capability" title=" branding capability"> branding capability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20markets" title=" emerging markets"> emerging markets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SME%20internationalization" title=" SME internationalization"> SME internationalization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161987/branding-capability-developed-from-country-specific-and-firm-specific-resources-for-internationalizing-small-and-medium-enterprises" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161987.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">267</span> Developing a Web-Based Workflow Management System in Cloud Computing Platforms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Shuen-Tai">Wang Shuen-Tai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Yu-Ching"> Lin Yu-Ching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang%20Hsi-Ya"> Chang Hsi-Ya </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cloud computing is the innovative and leading information technology model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort. In this paper, we aim at the development of workflow management system for cloud computing platforms based on our previous research on the dynamic allocation of the cloud computing resources and its workflow process. We took advantage of the HTML 5 technology and developed web-based workflow interface. In order to enable the combination of many tasks running on the cloud platform in sequence, we designed a mechanism and developed an execution engine for workflow management on clouds. We also established a prediction model which was integrated with job queuing system to estimate the waiting time and cost of the individual tasks on different computing nodes, therefore helping users achieve maximum performance at lowest payment. This proposed effort has the potential to positively provide an efficient, resilience and elastic environment for cloud computing platform. This development also helps boost user productivity by promoting a flexible workflow interface that lets users design and control their tasks' flow from anywhere. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web-based" title="web-based">web-based</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=workflow" title=" workflow"> workflow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HTML5" title=" HTML5"> HTML5</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cloud%20Computing" title=" Cloud Computing"> Cloud Computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Queuing%20System" title=" Queuing System"> Queuing System</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29622/developing-a-web-based-workflow-management-system-in-cloud-computing-platforms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29622.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">309</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">266</span> Fabrication of Nanostructured Arrays Using Si-Containing Block Copolymer and Dually Responsive Photoresist</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kyoungok%20Jung">Kyoungok Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang%20Hong%20Bak"> Chang Hong Bak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gyeong%20Cheon%20Jo"> Gyeong Cheon Jo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin-Baek%20Kim"> Jin-Baek Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nanostructured arrays have drawn extensive attention because of their unique properties resulting from nanoscale features. However, it is difficult to achieve uniform and freestanding 1D nanostrcutures over a large area. Here, a simple and novel method was developed for fabrication of universal nanoporous templates for high-density nanostructure arrays, by combining self-assembly of a Si-containing block copolymer with a bilayer lithography system. We introduced a dually responsive photoresist bottom layer into which the nanopatterns of block copolymer are transferred by oxygen reactive ion etching. Because the dually responsive layer becomes cross-linked by heating, it can be used as a hard template during the etching process. It becomes soluble again by chain scission upon exposure to light. Therefore, it can be easily removed by the lift-off process. The template was applicable to the various conducting substrates due to the compatibility of the photoresist with a wide range of substrates and was used in electrodeposition for well-aligned and high-density inorganic and organic nanoarrays. We successfully obtained vertically aligned and highly ordered gold nanorods and polypyrrole dots on the substrate without aggregation, and these arrays did not collapse after removing the dually responsive templates by the simple lift-off process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=block%20copolymer" title="block copolymer">block copolymer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dually%20responsive" title=" dually responsive"> dually responsive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanostructure" title=" nanostructure"> nanostructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoresist" title=" photoresist"> photoresist</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36938/fabrication-of-nanostructured-arrays-using-si-containing-block-copolymer-and-dually-responsive-photoresist" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36938.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">257</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">265</span> Mixing Behaviors of Shear-Thinning Fluids in Serpentine-Channel Micromixers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rei-Tang%20Tsai">Rei-Tang Tsai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Yang%20Wu"> Chih-Yang Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chia-Yuan%20Chang"> Chia-Yuan Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Ying%20Kuo"> Ming-Ying Kuo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims to investigate the mixing behaviors of deionized (DI) water and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) solutions in C-shaped serpentine micromixers over a wide range of flow conditions. The flow of CMC solutions exhibits shear-thinning behaviors. Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the effects of the mean flow speed, fluid properties and geometry parameters on flow and mixing in the micromixers with serpentine channel of the same overall channel length. From the results, we can find the following trends. When fluid mixing is dominated by convection, the curvature-induced vortices enhance fluid mixing effectively. The mixing efficiency of a micromixer consisting of semicircular C-shaped repeating units with a smaller center-line radius is better than that of a micromixer consisting of major-segment repeating units with a larger center-line radius. The viscosity of DI water is less than the overall average apparent viscosity of CMC solutions, and so the effect of curvature-induced vortices on fluid mixing in DI water is larger than that in CMC solutions for the cases with the same mean flow speed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=curved%20channel" title="curved channel">curved channel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microfluidics" title=" microfluidics"> microfluidics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixing" title=" mixing"> mixing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-newtonian%20fluids" title=" non-newtonian fluids"> non-newtonian fluids</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vortex" title=" vortex"> vortex</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25985/mixing-behaviors-of-shear-thinning-fluids-in-serpentine-channel-micromixers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25985.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">441</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">264</span> Constructing Optimized Criteria of Objective Assessment Indicators among Elderly Frailty</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Ching%20Chiu">Shu-Ching Chiu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Fang%20Chang"> Shu-Fang Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The World Health Organization (WHO) has been actively developing intervention programs to deal with geriatric frailty. In its White Paper on Healthcare Policy 2020, the Department of Health, Bureau of Health Promotion proposed that active aging and the prevention of disability are essential for elderly people to maintain good health. The paper recommended five main policies relevant to this objective, one of which is the prevention of frailty and disability. Scholars have proposed a number of different criteria to diagnose and assess frailty; no consistent or normative standard of measurement is currently available. In addition, many methods of assessment are recursive, which can easily result in recall bias. Due to the relationship between frailty and physical fitness with regard to co-morbidity, it is important that academics optimize the criteria used to assess frailty by objectively evaluating the physical fitness of senior citizens. This study used a review of the literature to identify fitness indicators suitable for measuring frailty in the elderly. This study recommends that measurement criteria be integrated to produce an optimized predictive value for frailty score. Healthcare professionals could use this data to detect frailty at an early stage and provide appropriate care to prevent further debilitation and increase longevity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frailty" title="frailty">frailty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aging" title=" aging"> aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physical%20fitness" title=" physical fitness"> physical fitness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimized%20criteria" title=" optimized criteria"> optimized criteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthcare" title=" healthcare"> healthcare</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39647/constructing-optimized-criteria-of-objective-assessment-indicators-among-elderly-frailty" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39647.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">354</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">263</span> Inhibitory Effects of PPARγ Ligand, KR-62980, on Collagen-Stimulated Platelet Activation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su%20Bin%20Wang">Su Bin Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin%20Hee%20Ahn"> Jin Hee Ahn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tong-Shin%20Chang"> Tong-Shin Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are member of nuclear receptor superfamily that act as a ligand-activated transcription factors. Although platelets lack a nucleus, previous studies have shown that PPARγ agonists, rosiglitazone, inhibited platelet activation induced by collagen. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of KR-62980, a newly synthesized PPARγ agonist, on collagen receptor-stimulated platelet activation. The specific tyrosine phosphorylations of key components (Syk, Vav1, Btk and PLCγ2) for collagen receptor signaling pathways were suppressed by KR-62980. KR-62980 also attenuated downstream responses including cytosolic calcium elevation, P-selectin surface exposure, and integrin αIIbβ3 activation. PPARγ was found to associate with multiple proteins within the LAT signaling complex in collagen-stimulated platelets. This association was prevented by KR-62980, indicating a potential mechanism for PPARγ function in collagen-stimulated platelet activation. Furthermore, KR-62980 inhibited platelet aggregation and adhesion in response to collagen in vitro and prolonged in vivo thrombotic response in carotid arteries of mice. Collectively, these data suggest that KR-62980 inhibits collagen-stimulated platelet activation and thrombus formation through modulating the collagen receptor signaling pathways. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=KR-62980" title="KR-62980">KR-62980</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PPAR%CE%B3" title=" PPARγ"> PPARγ</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antiplatelet" title=" antiplatelet"> antiplatelet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thrombosis" title=" thrombosis"> thrombosis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47842/inhibitory-effects-of-ppargh-ligand-kr-62980-on-collagen-stimulated-platelet-activation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47842.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">333</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">262</span> A Discussion on the Design Practice of College Students for Virtual Avatars in Social Media Ecology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mei-Chun%20Chang">Mei-Chun Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to digital transformation and social media development in recent years, various real-time interactive digital tools have been developed to meet the design demands for virtual reality avatars, which also promote digital content learners' active participation in the creation process. In this study, the phospholipids was extracted from squid skin and manufactured into a liposome (SQ liposome) to mimic apoptotic body. We then evaluated anti-inflammatory effects of SQ liposome on mouse microglial cell line (BV-2) by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induction. First, the major phospholipid constituents in the squid skin extract were including 46.2% of phosphatidylcholine, 18.4% of phosphatidylethanolamine, 7.7% of phosphatidylserine, 3.5% of phosphatidylinositol, 4.9% of Lysophosphatidylcholine and 19.3% of other phospholipids by HPLC-UV analysis. The contents of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the squid skin extract were 11.8 and 28.7%, respectively. The microscopic images showed that microglia cells can engulf apoptotic cells or SQ-liposome. In cell based studies, there was no cytotoxicity to BV-2 as the concentration of SQ-liposome was less than 2.5 mg/mL. The LPS induced pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), were significant suppressed (P < 0.05) by pretreated 0.03~2.5mg/ml SQ liposome. Oppositely, the anti-inflammatory cytokines transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) secretion were enhanced (P < 0.05). The results suggested that SQ-liposome possess anti-inflammatory properties on BV-2 and may be a good strategy for against neuro-inflammatory disease. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=apoptotic%20mimicry" title="apoptotic mimicry">apoptotic mimicry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neuroinflammation" title=" neuroinflammation"> neuroinflammation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microglia" title=" microglia"> microglia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=squid%20processing%20by-products" title=" squid processing by-products"> squid processing by-products</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78159/inflammatory-alleviation-on-microglia-cells-by-an-apoptotic-mimicry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78159.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">482</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">260</span> Studying the Load Sharing and Failure Mechanism of Hybrid Composite Joints Using Experiment and Finite Element Modeling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyyed%20Mohammad%20Hasheminia">Seyyed Mohammad Hasheminia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heoung%20Jae%20Chun"> Heoung Jae Chun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Chan%20Park"> Jong Chan Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong%20Suk%20Chang"> Hong Suk Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Composite joints have been getting attention recently due to their high specific mechanical strength to weight ratio that is crucial for structures such as aircrafts and automobiles. In this study on hybrid joints, quasi-static experiments and finite element analysis were performed to investigate the failure mechanism of hybrid composite joint with respect to the joint properties such as the adhesive material, clamping force, and joint geometry. The outcomes demonstrated that the stiffness of the adhesive is the most imperative design parameter. In this investigation, two adhesives with various stiffness values were utilized. Regarding the joints utilizing the adhesive with the lower stiffness modulus, it was observed that the load was exchanged promptly through the adhesive since it was shared more proficiently between the bolt and adhesive. This phenomenon permitted the hybrid joints with low-modulus adhesive to support more prominent loads before failure when contrasted with the joints that utilize the stiffer adhesive. In the next step, the stress share between the bond and bolt as a function of various design parameters was studied using a finite element model in which it was understood that the geometrical parameters such as joint overlap and width have a significant influence on the load sharing between the bolt and the adhesive. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20joints" title="composite joints">composite joints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20materials" title=" composite materials"> composite materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20joints" title=" hybrid joints"> hybrid joints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single-lap%20joint" title=" single-lap joint"> single-lap joint</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85844/studying-the-load-sharing-and-failure-mechanism-of-hybrid-composite-joints-using-experiment-and-finite-element-modeling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85844.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">406</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">259</span> Extra-Pulmonary Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Infection in a Healthy 25-Year-Old Female: A Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minna%20Chang">Minna Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: M. pneumoniae is a respiratory pathogen, which commonly causes upper and lower respiratory infections. It primarily affects children and young adults. Respiratory symptoms are well recognized, but extrapulmonary involvement is also common. Other systems that have been implicated in the disease include: skin, mucus membranes, central, peripheral nervous systems, cardiovascular, haematological, renal, and musculoskeletal systems. Here, we report a case of an otherwise healthy, young female with M. pneumonia, who presented with right upper quadrant abdominal pain. Case presentation: a healthy 25-year-old female was referred to A&E by her general practitioner, after presenting with fever, malaise, and right upper quadrant pain. M. pneumoniae was confirmed retrospectively by serology. The patient made a full recovery after a six-day course of doxycycline 100mg. Conclusion: M. pneumonia is a well-established cause of respiratory infections in children and young adults. Febrile illness with multisystem involvement, even in the absence of respiratory symptoms, should raise suspicion of M. pneumoniae infection in healthy, young adults. Our case illustrates the multi-system involvement of M. pneumoniae, which was initially missed, due to paucity of respiratory symptoms at presentation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infectious%20diseases" title="infectious diseases">infectious diseases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mycoplasma%20pneumoniae" title=" mycoplasma pneumoniae"> mycoplasma pneumoniae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=respiratory%20infections" title=" respiratory infections"> respiratory infections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extra-pulmonary%20manifestations" title=" extra-pulmonary manifestations"> extra-pulmonary manifestations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128786/extra-pulmonary-mycoplasma-pneumoniae-infection-in-a-healthy-25-year-old-female-a-case-report" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128786.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">258</span> Optimization of Hemp Fiber Reinforced Concrete for Various Environmental Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoe%20Chang">Zoe Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Max%20Williams"> Max Williams</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gautham%20Das"> Gautham Das</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study is to evaluate the incorporation of hemp fibers (HF) in concrete. Hemp fiber reinforced concrete (HFRC) is becoming more popular as an alternative for regular mix designs. This study was done to evaluate the compressive strength of HFRC regarding mix procedure. Hemp fibers were obtained from the manufacturer and hand-processed to ensure uniformity in width and length. The fibers were added to the concrete as both wet and dry mixes to investigate and optimize the mix design process. Results indicated that the dry mix had a compressive strength of 1157 psi compared to the wet mix of 985 psi. This dry mix compressive strength was within range of the standard mix compressive strength of 1533 psi. The statistical analysis revealed that the mix design process needs further optimization and uniformity concerning the addition of HF. Regression analysis revealed the standard mix design had a coefficient of 0.9 as compared to the dry mix of 0.375, indicating a variation in the mixing process. While completing the dry mix, the addition of plain hemp fibers caused them to intertwine, creating lumps and inconsistency. However, during the wet mixing process, combining water and hemp fibers before incorporation allows the fibers to uniformly disperse within the mix; hence the regression analysis indicated a better coefficient of 0.55. This study concludes that HRFC is a viable alternative to regular mixes; however, more research surrounding its characteristics needs to be conducted. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemp%20fibers" title="hemp fibers">hemp fibers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hemp%20reinforced%20concrete" title=" hemp reinforced concrete"> hemp reinforced concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wet%20%26%20dry" title=" wet &amp; dry"> wet &amp; dry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=freeze%20thaw%20testing" title=" freeze thaw testing"> freeze thaw testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressive%20strength" title=" compressive strength"> compressive strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136604/optimization-of-hemp-fiber-reinforced-concrete-for-various-environmental-conditions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136604.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">200</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">257</span> The Effect of the Acquisition and Reconstruction Parameters in Quality of Spect Tomographic Images with Attenuation and Scatter Correction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Boutaghane">N. For this, it is not always put into leading technological advances to improve the performance of tomographic gamma camera in terms of detection, collimation, reconstruction and correction of tomographic images methods. We have to master firstly the choice of various acquisition and reconstruction parameters, accessible to clinical cases and using the attenuation and scatter correction methods to always optimize quality image and minimized to the maximum dose received by the patient. In this work, an evaluation of qualitative and quantitative tomographic images is performed based on the acquisition parameters (counts per projection) and reconstruction parameters (filter type, associated cutoff frequency). In addition, methods for correcting physical effects such as attenuation and scatter degrading the image quality and preventing precise quantitative of the reconstructed slices are also presented. Two approaches of attenuation and scatter correction are implemented: the attenuation correction by CHANG method with a filtered back projection reconstruction algorithm and scatter correction by the subtraction JASZCZAK method. PLS-SEM was employed to validate the instrument and answer the research questions, respectively. The finding reveals that self-growth and peer interaction significantly contribute to perceived effectiveness, whereas networking motivator shows non-significant impact. Besides, the new contribution of these findings is to show that peer interaction fully mediates the relationship between self-growth and perceived effectiveness. To this end, the findings highlight the importance of dispositional factors regarding the quality of the leadership development program in HE contexts and the potential of such program to enhance the knowledge and capacities of academic leaders regarding university governance and leadership. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=higher%20education" title="higher education">higher education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leadership%20development" title=" leadership development"> leadership development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effectiveness" title=" effectiveness"> effectiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=middle-level%20leaders" title=" middle-level leaders"> middle-level leaders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=junior-level%20leaders" title=" junior-level leaders"> junior-level leaders</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141961/perceived-effectiveness-of-academic-leadership-development-program-in-the-digital-age-the-contribution-of-motivational-factors-and-peer-interaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141961.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">183</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">255</span> Exploring the Physical Environment and Building Features in Earthquake Disaster Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang%20Hsueh-Sheng">Chang Hsueh-Sheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen%20Tzu-Ling"> Chen Tzu-Ling</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Earthquake is an unpredictable natural disaster and intensive earthquakes have caused serious impacts on social-economic system, environmental and social resilience. Conventional ways to mitigate earthquake disaster are to enhance building codes and advance structural engineering measures. However, earthquake-induced ground damage such as liquefaction, land subsidence, landslide happen on places nearby earthquake prone or poor soil condition areas. Therefore, this study uses spatial statistical analysis to explore the spatial pattern of damaged buildings. Afterwards, principle components analysis (PCA) is applied to categorize the similar features in different kinds of clustered patterns. The results show that serious landslide prone area, close to fault, vegetated ground surface and mudslide prone area are common in those highly damaged buildings. In addition, the oldest building might not be directly referred to the most vulnerable one. In fact, it seems that buildings built between 1974 and 1989 become more fragile during the earthquake. The incorporation of both spatial statistical analyses and PCA can provide more accurate information to subsidize retrofit programs to enhance earthquake resistance in particular areas. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earthquake%20disaster" title="earthquake disaster">earthquake disaster</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20statistic%20analysis" title=" spatial statistic analysis"> spatial statistic analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=principle%20components%20analysis%20%28pca%29" title=" principle components analysis (pca)"> principle components analysis (pca)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clustered%20patterns" title=" clustered patterns"> clustered patterns</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44017/exploring-the-physical-environment-and-building-features-in-earthquake-disaster-areas" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44017.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">313</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">254</span> An Atlantic Canadian Case of Disseminated Streptococcus equi Subspecies zooepidemicus Infection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Albert%20Chang">Albert Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duncan%20Webster"> Duncan Webster</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus infections in humans can be contracted through contact with domestic animals or unpasteurized dairy products. Although infection in humans is rare, the course can be fulminant. We describe the case of a 75-year-old, immunocompetent male, who developed disseminated disease with bacteremia, native aortic valve endocarditis, suppurative pericarditis with cardiac tamponade, meningitis and bilateral endopthalmitis. Despite treatment with pericardial drain placement, intravenous ceftriaxone and rifampin the patient, unfortunately, did not survive. To date, reported cases of disseminated infection by S. zooepidemicus are few. Furthermore, with the review of the literature, this case demonstrates the broadest organ system involvement reported. Of interest, previous studies have suggested an affinity of this organism for certain organ systems and this case corroborates an emerging association of S. zooepidemicus with endopthalmitis. In addition, this is the second Canadian case of documented human infection with both cases being similar in clinical features, presentation, and geographical location. A discussion regarding previous S. zooepidemicus outbreaks and the potential for zoonotic outbreaks to occur is included. In short, this case report should serve to warn clinicians regarding complications and sites of haematogenous seeding in the setting of disseminated S. zooepidemicus infections. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=endopthalmitis" title="endopthalmitis">endopthalmitis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=endocarditis" title=" endocarditis"> endocarditis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=meningitis" title=" meningitis"> meningitis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Streptococcus%20equi%20subspecies%20zooepidemicus" title=" Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus"> Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82114/an-atlantic-canadian-case-of-disseminated-streptococcus-equi-subspecies-zooepidemicus-infection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82114.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">253</span> Vibration Behavior of Nanoparticle Delivery in a Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube Using Nonlocal Timoshenko Beam Theory</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haw-Long%20Lee">Haw-Long Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Win-Jin%20Chang"> Win-Jin Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu-Ching%20Yang"> Yu-Ching Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the paper, the coupled equation of motion for the dynamic displacement of a fullerene moving in a (10,10) single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is derived using nonlocal Timoshenko beam theory, including the effects of rotary inertia and shear deformation. The effects of confined stiffness between the fullerene and nanotube, foundation stiffness, and nonlocal parameter on the dynamic behavior are analyzed using the Runge-Kutta Method. The numerical solution is in agreement with the analytical result for the special case. The numerical results show that increasing the confined stiffness and foundation stiffness decrease the dynamic displacement of SWCNT. However, the dynamic displacement increases with increasing the nonlocal parameter. In addition, result using the Euler beam theory and the Timoshenko beam theory are compared. It can be found that ignoring the effects of rotary inertia and shear deformation leads to an underestimation of the displacement. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
