To limit their access to the polls is wrong. There is no voter fraud, just another ploy by GOP supporters who want to cut Social security benefits and limit the power of the elderly. People down here have no concept of voting rights or the 24th Amendment, and Judges are no different. I have never had a problem voting. In the past I showed my voter registration card, if I remembered to bring it. More than once I forgot it and had to show my drivers license instead. Now I only have to show my drivers license. I don't even have to worry about bringing my voter registration card anymore. I don't see what the problem is. Everyone in Texas age 18 and up is supposed to have a picture ID. And you can get a voting photo ID for FREE if you need one. They have to take time off minimum wage jobs (if they have one & if the boss lets them), pay for transportation, child care, the cost of the ID, etc. in order to use a constitutional right to vote. And the cases of voter fraud - MOST perpetrated by Republican voters and even then only at a rate of .00002%. It's just an effort to BLOCK the vote. The incidence is so infrequent that Greg Abbott is only prosecuted 5 times in the whole time that he's been attorney general. Now I only get provisional ballots because Texas DPS didn't print my middle name on my driver's license. I did nothing but pay for the ID and present on out of state ID, passport, and social security card (all of which contain my middle name) to get the Texas DL. Out of deference to Gov. Perry's 18 years of undistinguished service, indeed he's not guilty of today's alleged charges until proven guilty by a jury of his peers. And as a Texan, that shouldn't be a difficult threshold to cross ideologically. I have a friend who happens to be white who has to borrow bus fare to get around. She lives on SSI for a living (@ $700 per month), and can only avoid homelessness by sharing a one bedroom apartment and eating a LOT of starchy food (protein once in a while would be so much better for her). Her life just seems to me like an endless hike through quicksand. <br/><br/>She can't afford anything we all take for granted: rent.
