but not one<MH259> of the livestock<MH4735> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> died<MH4191>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And Pharaoh<MH6547> sent<MH7971> <i>men,</i> and <i>they learned that,</i> behold<MH2009>, not even<MH5704> one<MH259> of the livestock<MH4735> of Israel<MH3478> was dead<MH4191>. But the heart<MH3820> of Pharaoh<MH6547> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>hardened<MH3513>, and he did not let<MH7971> the people<MH5971a> go<MH7971>. <p class="hdg">The Plague of Boils</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Moses<MH4872> and Aaron<MH175>, “Take<MH3947> for yourselves handfuls<MH4393, 2651> of soot<MH6368> from a kiln<MH3536>, and Moses<MH4872> shall toss<MH2236b> it toward the sky<MH8064> in the sight<MH5869> of Pharaoh<MH6547>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then it will become<MH1961> fine dust<MH80> over<MH5921> all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, and will turn<MH1961> into boils<MH7822> breaking<MH6524b> out<MH6524b> with sores<MH76> on <i>every</i> person<MH120> and animal<MH929> through all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>So they took<MH3947> soot<MH6368> from a kiln<MH3536>, and stood<MH5975> before<MH6440> Pharaoh<MH6547>; and Moses<MH4872> tossed<MH2236b> it toward the sky<MH8064>, and it became<MH1961> boils<MH7822> breaking<MH6524b> out<MH6524b> with sores<MH76> on <i>every</i> person<MH120> and animal<MH929>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>The soothsayer<MH2748> priests<MH2748> could<MH3201> not stand<MH5975> before<MH6440> Moses<MH4872> because<MH4480, 6440> of the boils<MH7822>, for the boils<MH7822> were on the soothsayer<MH2748> priests<MH2748> as well as on all<MH3605> the Egyptians<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But the LORD<MH3068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>hardened<MH2388> Pharaoh’s<MH6547> heart<MH3820>, and he did not listen<MH8085> to them, just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> the LORD<MH3068> had spoken<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Moses<MH4872>, “Rise<MH7925> up<MH7925> early<MH7925> in the morning<MH1242> and stand<MH3320> before<MH6440> Pharaoh<MH6547> and say<MH559> to him, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of the Hebrews<MH5680> says<MH559>: “Let<MH7971> My people<MH5971a> go<MH7971>, so that they may serve<MH5647> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For this<MH2088> time<MH6471> I am going to send<MH7971> all<MH3605> My plagues<MH4046> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>on you and your servants<MH5650> and your people<MH5971a>, so<MH5668> that<MH5668> you may know<MH3045> that there<MH369> is<MH369> no<MH369> one<MH369> like<MH3644> Me in all<MH3605> the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For had I now<MH6258> put<MH7971> out<MH7971> My hand<MH3027> and struck<MH5221> you and your people<MH5971a> with plague<MH1698>, you would then have been eliminated<MH3582> from the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>But indeed<MH199>, for this<MH2088> reason<MH5668> I have allowed you to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>remain<MH5975>, in order<MH5668> to show<MH7200> you My power<MH3581b> and in<MH4616> order<MH4616> to<MH4616> proclaim<MH5608> My name<MH8034> throughout<MH3605> the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Still<MH5750> you exalt<MH5549> yourself against My people<MH5971a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>by not letting<MH7971> them go<MH7971>. <p class="hdg">The Plague of Hail</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, about this time<MH6256> tomorrow<MH4279>, I will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>send<MH4305> a very<MH3966> heavy<MH3515> hail<MH1259>, such<MH834> as has not been<MH1961> <i>seen</i> in Egypt<MH4714> from the day<MH3117> it was founded<MH3245> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>until<MH5704> now<MH6258>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>So now<MH6258>, send<MH7971> <i>word,</i> bring<MH5756> your livestock<MH4735> and whatever<MH3605, 834> you have in the field<MH7704> to<MH5756> safety<MH5756>. Every<MH3605> person<MH120> and animal<MH929> that is found<MH4672> in the field<MH7704> and is not brought<MH622> home<MH1004>, when the hail<MH1259> comes<MH3381> down<MH3381> on them, will die<MH4191>.”’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><i>Everyone</i> among<MH4480> the servants<MH5650> of Pharaoh<MH6547> who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>feared<MH3372a> the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> hurried<MH5127> to<MH5127> bring<MH5127> his servants<MH5650> and his livestock<MH4735> into<MH413> the houses<MH1004>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>but <i>everyone</i> who<MH834> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>did not pay<MH7760> regard<MH3820> to the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>left<MH5800a> his servants<MH5650> and his livestock<MH4735> in the field<MH7704>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Now the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Moses<MH4872>, “Reach<MH5186> out<MH5186> with your hand<MH3027> toward<MH5921> the sky<MH8064>, so that <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>hail<MH1259> may fall<MH1961> on all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, on <i>every</i> person<MH120> and animal<MH929>, and on every<MH3605> plant<MH6212a> of the field<MH7704>, throughout the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> reached<MH5186> out<MH5186> with his staff<MH4294> toward<MH5921> the sky<MH8064>, and the LORD<MH3068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>sent<MH5414> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>thunder<MH6963> and hail<MH1259>, and fire<MH784> ran<MH1980> <i>down</i> to the earth<MH776>. And the LORD<MH3068> rained<MH4305> hail<MH1259> on the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>So there was hail<MH1259>, and fire<MH784> flashing<MH3947> intermittently<MH3947> in the midst<MH8432> of the hail<MH1259>, <i>which was</i> very<MH3966> heavy<MH3515>, such<MH834> as had not occurred<MH1961> in all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> since<MH3975b> it became<MH1961> a nation<MH1471>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>The hail<MH1259> struck<MH5221> everything<MH3605> that was in the field<MH7704> through all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, from people<MH120> to animals<MH929>; the hail<MH1259> also struck<MH5221> every<MH3605> plant<MH6212a> of the field<MH7704>, and shattered<MH7665> every<MH3605> tree<MH6086> of the field<MH7704>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Only<MH7534b> in the land<MH776> of Goshen<MH1657>, where<MH834, 8033> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> <i>were,</i> was there no<MH3808> hail<MH1259>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Then Pharaoh<MH6547> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>sent<MH7971> for Moses<MH4872> and Aaron<MH175>, and said<MH559> to them, “I have sinned<MH2398> this<MH6471> time<MH6471>; the LORD<MH3068> is the righteous<MH6662> one<MH6662>, and I and my people<MH5971a> are the wicked<MH7563> ones<MH7563>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Plead<MH6279> with the LORD<MH3068>, for there has been enough<MH7227a> of God’s<MH430> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>thunder<MH6963> and hail<MH1259>; and I will let<MH7971> you go<MH7971>, and you shall stay<MH5975> no<MH3808> longer<MH3254>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>Moses<MH4872> said<MH559> to him, “As soon as I go<MH3318> out<MH3318> of the city<MH5892b>, I will spread<MH6566> out<MH6566> my <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>hands<MH3709> to the LORD<MH3068>; the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>thunder<MH6963> will cease<MH2308> and there will no<MH3808> longer<MH5750> be hail<MH1259>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may know<MH3045> that the earth<MH776> is the LORD’S<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>But as for you and your servants<MH5650>, I know<MH3045> that you do not yet<MH2962> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>fear<MH3372a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>the LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>(Now the flax<MH6594> and the barley<MH8184> were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>ruined<MH5221>, for the barley<MH8184> was in the ear<MH24> and the flax<MH6594> was in bud<MH1392>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>But the wheat<MH2406> and the spelt<MH3698> were not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>ruined<MH5221>, for they <i>ripen</i> late<MH648>.) <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/9-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> left<MH3318> the city<MH5892b> from <i>his meeting</i> with Pharaoh<MH6547>, and spread<MH6566> out<MH6566> his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>hands<MH3709> to the LORD<MH3068>;
