Understand! and afterwards we will speak.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and have become abominable in your sight? O you who slays himself in his anger?<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>Shall the earth be forsaken for your sake? And shall the mountain be removed out of its place?<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>Yea, the lamp of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp above him shall be extinguished.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>He shall be deserted in his illness, and his own counsel shall cast him down.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>For he has stretched out his feet into the net, and lie walks upon a snare.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>The trap seizes him by the heel, and thirst shall prevail against him.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>A snare is laid for him on the ground, and a trap for him in his paths.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Terror shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Let famine be his grief, let destruction be ready for his posterity.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Let force devour his towns, let his first-born die in violence.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>His confidence shall be rooted out of his tent, and he shall be brought hastily by the king's executioner.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>Others shall dwell in his tent, because there is no one in it; brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his vintage be cut off.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name upon it.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>He shall neither have name nor remembrance among the people, nor any survivor in his dwelling place.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before them were terrified.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/job/18-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Surely such is the dwelling of the wicked, and this is the place of him who knows not God.<p><br /></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center">Holy Bible From The Ancient Eastern Texts: Aramaic Of The Peshitta by George M.
