The first op-amp design uses Miller compensation around the second amplification stage, whilst the second op-amp design uses negative Miller compensation around the first stage and Miller compensation around the second amplification stage. The aims of this work were to compare the gain and phase margins obtained using the different compensation techniques and identify the ability to choose either compensation technique based on a particular set of design requirements. The two op-amp designs created are based on the same two-stage rail-to-rail output CMOS op-amp architecture where the first stage of the op-amp consists of differential input and cascode circuits, and the second stage is a class AB amplifier. The op-amps have been designed using a 0.35mm CMOS fabrication process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=op-amp" title="op-amp">op-amp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rail-to-rail%20output" title=" rail-to-rail output"> rail-to-rail output</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller%20compensation" title=" Miller compensation"> Miller compensation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Negative%20Miller%20capacitance" title=" Negative Miller capacitance"> Negative Miller capacitance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58421/rail-to-rail-output-op-amp-design-with-negative-miller-capacitance-compensation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58421.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">388</span> Miller’s Model for Developing Critical Thinking Skill of Pre-Service Teachers at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suttipong%20Boonphadung">Suttipong Boonphadung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thassanant%20Unnanantn"> Thassanant Unnanantn</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The research study aimed to (1) compare the critical thinking of the teacher students of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University before and after applying Miller’s Model learning activities and (2) investigate the students’ opinions towards Miller’s Model learning activities for improving the critical thinking. The participants of this study were purposively selected. They were 3 groups of teacher students: (1) fourth year 33 student teachers majoring in Early Childhood Education and enrolling in semester 1 of academic year 2013 (2) third year 28 student teachers majoring in English and enrolling in semester 2 of academic year 2013 and (3) third year 22 student teachers majoring in Thai and enrolling in semester 2 of academic year 2013. The research instruments were (1) lesson plans where the learning activities were settled based on Miller’s Model (2) critical thinking assessment criteria and (3) a questionnaire on opinions towards Miller’s Model based learning activities. The statistical treatment was mean, deviation, different scores and T-test. The result unfolded that (1) the critical thinking of the students after the assigned activities was better than before and (2) the students’ opinions towards the critical thinking improvement activities based on Miller’s Model ranged from the level of high to highest. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=critical%20thinking" title="critical thinking">critical thinking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller%E2%80%99s%20model" title=" Miller’s model"> Miller’s model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=opinions" title=" opinions"> opinions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-service%20teachers" title=" pre-service teachers"> pre-service teachers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18840/millers-model-for-developing-critical-thinking-skill-of-pre-service-teachers-at-suan-sunandha-rajabhat-university" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18840.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">477</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">387</span> On Differential Growth Equation to Stochastic Growth Model Using Hyperbolic Sine Function in Height/Diameter Modeling of Pines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20O.%20Oyamakin">S. The integral solution to this was called hyperbolic Richard's growth model having transformed the solution from deterministic to a stochastic growth model. Its ability in model prediction was compared with the classical Richard's growth model an approach which mimicked the natural variability of heights/diameter increment with respect to age and therefore provides a more realistic height/diameter predictions using the coefficient of determination (R2), Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Square Error (MSE) results. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Shapiro-Wilk test was also used to test the behavior of the error term for possible violations. The mean function of top height/Dbh over age using the two models under study predicted closely the observed values of top height/Dbh in the hyperbolic Richard's nonlinear growth models better than the classical Richard's growth model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=height" title="height">height</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dbh" title=" Dbh"> Dbh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forest" title=" forest"> forest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pinus%20caribaea" title=" Pinus caribaea"> Pinus caribaea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyperbolic" title=" hyperbolic"> hyperbolic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Richard%27s" title=" Richard&#039;s"> Richard&#039;s</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic" title=" stochastic"> stochastic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17738/on-differential-growth-equation-to-stochastic-growth-model-using-hyperbolic-sine-function-in-heightdiameter-modeling-of-pines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17738.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">480</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">386</span> The Miller Umwelt Assessment Scale: A Tool for Planning Interventions for Children on the Autism Spectrum</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sonia%20Mastrangelo">Sonia Mastrangelo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Miller Umwelt Assessment Scale is a useful tool for obtaining information about the developmental capacities of children on the autism spectrum. The assessment, made up of 19 tasks in the areas of: body organization, contact with surroundings, expressive and receptive communication, representation, and social-emotional development, has been used with much success over the past 40 years. While many assessments are difficult to administer to children on the autism spectrum, the simplicity of the MUAS reveals key strengths and challenges for both low and high functioning children on the spectrum. The results guide parents and clinicians in providing a curriculum and/or home program that moves children up the developmental ladder. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autism%20spectrum%20disorder" title="autism spectrum disorder">autism spectrum disorder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=assessment" title=" assessment"> assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reading%20intervention" title=" reading intervention"> reading intervention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller%20method" title=" Miller method "> Miller method </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17636/the-miller-umwelt-assessment-scale-a-tool-for-planning-interventions-for-children-on-the-autism-spectrum" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17636.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">539</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">385</span> Navigating the Complexity of Guillain-Barré Syndrome and Miller Fisher Syndrome Overlap Syndrome: A Pediatric Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamal%20Chafiq">Kamal Chafiq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Youssef%20Hadzine"> Youssef Hadzine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adel%20Elmekkaoui"> Adel Elmekkaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Othmane%20Benlenda"> Othmane Benlenda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Houssam%20Rajad"> Houssam Rajad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soukaina%20Wakrim"> Soukaina Wakrim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hicham%20Nassik"> Hicham Nassik</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Guillain-Barré syndrome/Miller Fishe syndrome (GBS/MFS) overlap syndrome is an extremely rare variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in which Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) coexists with other characteristics of GBS, such as limb weakness, paresthesia, and facial paralysis. Aloe barbadensis miller has been known as a traditional herbal medicine for the treatment of many diseases and sicknesses mainly for skin conditions such as sunburns, cold sores and frostbite. It is also used as a fresh food preservative. The main objective of this study is to determine the antioxidant activity of Aloe barbadensis miller. Methodology: The plant material (3g) was separately extracted with 30 mL of solvent with varying polarities (methanol and ethyl acetate)(technical grade, Merck) in 50ml polyester centrifuge tubes. The tubes was be shaken for 30 minutes on a linear shaker and left over night. The supernatant was filtered using a Whitman No. 1 filter paper before being transferred into pre-weighed glass containers. The solvent was allowed to evaporate under a fan in a room to quantify extraction efficacy. The, tin layer chromatography(TLC) plates were prepared and Pasteur pipette was used for spotting each extractant (methanol and ethyl acetate) on the TLC plates and the plate was developed in saturated TLC tank .and dipped in vanillin sulphuric acid mixture and heated at 110 to detect separate compound .and dipped in DDPH in methanol to detect antioxidant. Expected contribution to knowledge: It was observed that different compounds which interact differently with different solvent such as methanol, ethyl acetate having difference polarities were observed. The yellow spots also observed from the plate dipped in DDPH indicate that Aloe barbadensis miller has antioxidant. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidant%20activity" title="antioxidant activity">antioxidant activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aloe%20barbadensis%20miller" title=" Aloe barbadensis miller"> Aloe barbadensis miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tin%20layer%20chromatography" title=" tin layer chromatography"> tin layer chromatography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DDPH" title=" DDPH"> DDPH</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22301/the-evaluation-of-antioxidant-activity-of-aloe-vera-aloe-barbadensis-miller" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22301.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">448</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">383</span> The Attitudes of Pre-Service Teachers towards Analytical Thinking Skill Development Based on Miller’s Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thassanant%20Unnanantn">Thassanant Unnanantn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Suttipong%20Boonphadung"> Suttipong Boonphadung</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research study aimed to survey and analyze the attitudes of pre-service teachers’ the analytical thinking development based on Miller’s Model. The instrument of this research was an open-ended questionnaire with two dimensions of questions: academic and satisfaction dimensions. The investigation revealed the positive attitudes. In the academic dimension, the majority of 12 (54.54%), the highest percentage, reflected that the method of teaching analytical thinking and language simultaneously was their new knowledge and the similar percentage also belonged to text cohesion in writing. For the satisfaction, the highest frequency count was from 17 of them (77.27%) and this majority favored the openness or friendliness of the teacher. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=analytical%20thinking%20development" title="analytical thinking development">analytical thinking development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller%E2%80%99s%20Model" title=" Miller’s Model"> Miller’s Model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attitudes" title=" attitudes"> attitudes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-service%20teachers" title=" pre-service teachers"> pre-service teachers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18839/the-attitudes-of-pre-service-teachers-towards-analytical-thinking-skill-development-based-on-millers-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18839.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">309</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">382</span> Determination of Micronutrients in the Fruit of Cydonia oblonga Miller</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Madrakhimova%20Sakhiba">Madrakhimova Sakhiba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matmurotov%20Bakhtishod"> Matmurotov Bakhtishod</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boltaboyava%20Zilola"> Boltaboyava Zilola</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matchanov%20Alimjan"> Matchanov Alimjan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Analyzing the chemical composition of locally consumed food products is one of the urgent problems in the health sector today. Taking this into account, it analyzed the microelement content of Cydonia oblonga Miller (COM) fruit growing in the Republic of Uzbekistan using the ISP MS inductively coupled mass spectrometry method. fruits brought to a constant mass in the analysis were mineralized in a mixture of nitric acid-HNO₃ and hydrogen peroxide-H₂O₂ in a ratio of 3:2. The mineralized extract was diluted to 50 milliliters with double-distilled water and analyzed. The results of the analysis showed that the fruit is rich in micronutrients necessary for the human body, especially potassium-K and phosphorus-P among macroelements, Strontium-Sr and barium-Ba from microelements are more than other microelements. It was observed that the amount of trace elements contained in COM fruit does not exceed the permissible standards. Therefore, it can be recommended to eat this fruit every day to prevent various diseases that occur in the human body. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cydonia%20oblonga%20miller" title="cydonia oblonga miller">cydonia oblonga miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=macroelement" title=" macroelement"> macroelement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microelement" title=" microelement"> microelement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inductively%20coupled%20mass%20spectrometry" title=" inductively coupled mass spectrometry"> inductively coupled mass spectrometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrolysis" title=" hydrolysis"> hydrolysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mineralization" title=" mineralization"> mineralization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181523/determination-of-micronutrients-in-the-fruit-of-cydonia-oblonga-miller" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181523.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">71</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">381</span> Dynamic Degradation Mechanism of SiC VDMOS under Proton Irradiation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Junhong%20Feng">Junhong Feng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenyu%20Lu"> Wenyu Lu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xinhong%20Cheng"> Xinhong Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li%20Zheng"> Li Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuehui%20Yu"> Yuehui Yu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The effects of proton irradiation on the properties of gate oxide were evaluated by monitoring the static parameters (such as threshold voltage and on-resistance) and dynamic parameters (Miller plateau time) of 1700V SiC VDMOS before and after proton irradiation. The incident proton energy was 3MeV, and the doses were 5 × 10¹² P / cm², 1 × 10¹³ P / cm², respectively. The results show that the threshold voltage of MOS exhibits negative drift under proton irradiation, and the near-interface traps in the gate oxide layer are occupied by holes generated by the ionization effect of irradiation, thus forming more positive charges. The basis for selecting TMiller is that the change time of Vgs is the time when Vds just shows an upward trend until it rises to a stable value. The degradation of the turn-off time of the Miller platform verifies that the capacitance Cgd becomes larger, reflecting that the gate oxide layer is introduced into the trap by the displacement effect caused by proton irradiation, and the interface state deteriorates. As a more sensitive area in the irradiation process, the gate oxide layer will be optimized for its parameters (such as thickness, type, etc.) in subsequent studies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SiC%20VDMOS" title="SiC VDMOS">SiC VDMOS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proton%20radiation" title=" proton radiation"> proton radiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller%20time" title=" Miller time"> Miller time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gate%20oxide" title=" gate oxide"> gate oxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168374/dynamic-degradation-mechanism-of-sic-vdmos-under-proton-irradiation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168374.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">380</span> The Strength and Metallography of a Bimetallic Friction Stir Bonded Joint between AA6061 and High Hardness Steel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Richard%20E.%20Miller">Richard E. Apiaceae species are usually herbs, rarely schrubs characterized particularly by its inflorescence typical umbel. Many species of this family have been widely used in folk medicine throughout the world. The most characteristic natural compounds in this family are the essential oils secreted in schizogenous canals in all organs with remarkable variability chemical composition. As a part of our investigation into medicinal plants growing in Algerian Sahara. In this study, we investigate the chemical composition of the essential oils extracted from two Apiaceae species: Foeniculum vulgare Miller and Carum carvi L cultivated in the Sahara. The plants were selected on the basis of their use by local people to treat infectious diseases as determined in our previous ethnopharmacological study. Wild samples of Foeniculum vulgare Miller and Carum carvi L cultivated in an experimental field at the university. The harvest was made during the year 2011 according to the growth cycle stage of the plants. The essential oils of different fresh aerial parts, obtained by hydrodistillation were analysed by GC. The results showed that the essential oils yields are not uniform among the different cycle stage. The percentage of components is significantly affected by the harvesting period of the plant material. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=essential%20oils" title="essential oils">essential oils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Apiaceae" title=" Apiaceae"> Apiaceae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth%20cycle" title=" growth cycle"> growth cycle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahara" title=" Sahara"> Sahara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GC" title=" GC"> GC</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33192/seasonal-variation-of-the-essential-oils-of-foeniculum-vulgare-miller-and-carum-carvi-l-cultivated-in-algerian-sahara" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33192.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">431</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">378</span> The Process of Sanctification: A Bourdieusian Approach to the Declension of Power in New England Puritan Clergy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=W.%20Scott%20Jackson">W. Historian Perry Miller argued that an overall declension in Puritan culture occurred during this period. However, that notion has been dispelled. There is a resurging field exploring declension in areas outside of Miller’s scope of Puritan culture. I determine that colonial New England existed as a functional theocracy by using Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of symbolic capital to explain clerical power through symbolic and religious misdirection and conversion. I explore civil and economic power struggles in colonial New England during the decades following the Great Migration to establish that Puritan culture did not largely decline. It is a hardy, perennial–umbelliferous herb with yellow flowers and feathery leaves. The aim is to study the control of blood glucose in alloxan induced diabetic mice.Method used for extraction was continuous hot percolation method in which Soxhlet apparatus was used.95%ethanol was used as solvent. Male albino mice weighing about 20-25 g obtained from Guru Angad Dev University of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana were used for the study. Diabetes was induced by a single i.p. injection of 125 mg/kg of alloxan monohydrate in sterile saline (11). After 48 h, animals with serum glucose level above 200 mg/dl (diabetic) were selected for the study. Blood samples from mice were collected by retro-orbital puncture (ROP) technique. Serum glucose levels were determined by glucose oxidase and peroxidase method. Single administration (single dose) of aqueous extract of fennel (25, 50, and 100 mg/kg, p.o.) in diabetic Swiss albino mice, showed reduction in serum glucose level after 45 min. Maximum reduction in serum glucose level was seen at doses of 100 mg/kg. Aqueous extract of fennel in all doses except 25 mg/kg did not cause any significant decrease in blood glucose. It may be said that the aqueous extract of fennel decreased the serum glucose level and improved glucose tolerance owing to the presence of aldehyde moiety. The aqueous extract of fennel has antihyperglycemic activity as it lowers serum glucose level in diabetic mice. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Foeniculum%20vulgare%20Miller" title="Foeniculum vulgare Miller">Foeniculum vulgare Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antihyperglycemic" title=" antihyperglycemic"> antihyperglycemic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diabetic%20mice" title=" diabetic mice"> diabetic mice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umbelliferaceae" title=" Umbelliferaceae "> Umbelliferaceae </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9969/antihyperglycemic-effect-of-aqueous-extract-of-foeniculum-vulgare-miller-in-diabetic-mice" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9969.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">286</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">376</span> Investigation of Time Pressure and Instinctive Reaction in Moral Dilemmas While Driving</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jacqueline%20Miller">Jacqueline Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dongyuan%20Y.%20Wang"> Dongyuan Y. How humans make decisions in dangerous driving situations like moral dilemmas can contribute to developing acceptable ethical principles for autonomous vehicles (AVs). This study uses a driving simulator to investigate whether drivers make utilitarian choices (choices that maximize lives saved and minimize harm) in unavoidable automobile accidents (moral dilemmas) with time pressure manipulated. This study also investigates how impulsiveness influences drivers’ behavior in moral dilemmas. Manipulating time pressure results in collisions that occur at varying time intervals (4 s, 5 s, 7s). Manipulating time pressure helps investigate how time pressure may influence drivers’ response behavior. Thirty-one undergraduates participated in this study using a STISM driving simulator to respond to driving moral dilemmas. The results indicated that the percentage of utilitarian choices generally increased when given more time to respond (from 4 s to 7 s). Additionally, participants in vehicle scenarios preferred responding right over responding left. Impulsiveness did not influence utilitarian choices. However, as time pressure decreased, response time increased. Findings have potential implications and applications on the regulation of driver assistance technologies and AVs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20pressure" title="time pressure">time pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automobile%20moral%20dilemmas" title=" automobile moral dilemmas"> automobile moral dilemmas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impulsiveness" title=" impulsiveness"> impulsiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reaction%20time" title=" reaction time"> reaction time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177790/investigation-of-time-pressure-and-instinctive-reaction-in-moral-dilemmas-while-driving" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177790.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">54</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">375</span> An Analysis of Non-Elliptic Curve Based Primality Tests</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=William%20Wong">William Wong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zakaria%20Alomari"> Zakaria Alomari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hon%20Ching%20Lai"> Hon Ching Lai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhida%20Li"> Zhida Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modern-day information security depends on implementing Diffie-Hellman, which requires the generation of prime numbers. Because the number of primes is infinite, it is impractical to store prime numbers for use, and therefore, primality tests are indispensable in modern-day information security. A primality test is a test to determine whether a number is prime or composite. There are two types of primality tests, which are deterministic tests and probabilistic tests. Deterministic tests are adopting algorithms that provide a definite answer whether a given number is prime or composite. While in probabilistic tests, a probabilistic result would be provided, there is a degree of uncertainty. In this paper, we review three probabilistic tests: the Fermat Primality Test, the Miller-Rabin Test, and the Baillie-PSW Test, as well as one deterministic test, the Agrawal-Kayal-Saxena (AKS) Test. Furthermore, we do an analysis of these tests. All of the reviews discussed are not based on the Elliptic Curve. The analysis demonstrates that, in the majority of real-world scenarios, the Baillie- PSW test’s favorability stems from its typical operational complexity of O(log 3n) and its capacity to deliver accurate results for numbers below 2^64. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primality%20tests" title="primality tests">primality tests</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fermat%E2%80%99s%20primality%20test" title=" Fermat’s primality test"> Fermat’s primality test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miller-Rabin%20primality%20test" title=" Miller-Rabin primality test"> Miller-Rabin primality test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baillie-PSW%20primality%20test" title=" Baillie-PSW primality test"> Baillie-PSW primality test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AKS%20primality%20test" title=" AKS primality test"> AKS primality test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173827/an-analysis-of-non-elliptic-curve-based-primality-tests" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173827.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">88</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">374</span> Unmasking Theatrical Language: Exploring Ideological Connections in American Theater</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gizem%20Barreto%20Martins">Gizem Barreto Martins</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper explores the subversive potential inherent in the theatrical language employed within Arthur Miller's The Crucible. The research argues that this play intricately weaves ideological connections with its audience and the historical epoch it represents, effectively serving as a channel for ideological and cultural interaction potentially exerting subversive influences on social and political realms. Using a historical-materialist methodology that situates the play within its historical and political context, all while examining its connections with theater and literary theories, the paper raises a fundamental query: How does this dramatic work embody subversion, presenting a style unburdened by the performative conventions of daily life and prevailing codes and systems of representation? In response to this inquiry, the study asserts that theatrical language has the capacity to function as a subversive catalyst against prevailing ideologies, actively contributing to the process of social transformation. To substantiate this claim, the research conducts a detailed analysis of the selected play, employing the semiotic framework pioneered by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arthur%20miller" title="arthur miller">arthur miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=The%20crucible" title=" The crucible"> The crucible</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gilles%20deleuze" title=" gilles deleuze"> gilles deleuze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=felix%20guattari" title=" felix guattari"> felix guattari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theater%20and%20literary%20theories" title=" theater and literary theories"> theater and literary theories</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172714/unmasking-theatrical-language-exploring-ideological-connections-in-american-theater" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172714.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">373</span> Optimizing Glycemic Control with AI-Guided Dietary Supplements: A Randomized Trial in Type 2 Diabetes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evgeny%20Pokushalov">Evgeny Pokushalov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claire%20Garcia"> Claire Garcia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrey%20Ponomarenko"> Andrey Ponomarenko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=John%20Smith"> John Smith</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michael%20Johnson"> Michael Johnson</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Inessa%20Pak"> Inessa Pak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evgenya%20Shrainer"> Evgenya Shrainer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dmitry%20Kudlay"> Dmitry Kudlay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leila%20Kasimova"> Leila Kasimova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Richard%20Miller"> Richard Miller</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study evaluated the efficacy of an AI-guided dietary supplement regimen compared to a standard physician-guided regimen in managing Type 2 diabetes (T2D). A total of 160 patients were randomly assigned to either the AI-guided group (n=80) or the physician-guided group (n=80) and followed over 90 days. The AI-guided group received 5.3 ± 1.2 supplements per patient, while the physician-guided group received 2.7 ± 0.6 supplements per patient. The AI system personalized supplement types and dosages based on individual genetic and metabolic profiles. The AI-guided group showed a significant reduction in HbA1c levels from 7.5 ± 0.8% to 7.1 ± 0.7%, compared to a reduction from 7.6 ± 0.9% to 7.4 ± 0.8% in the physician-guided group (mean difference: -0.3%, 95% CI: -0.5% to -0.1%; p < 0.01). Secondary outcomes, including fasting plasma glucose, HOMA-IR, and insulin levels, also improved more in the AI-guided group. Subgroup analyses revealed that the AI-guided regimen was particularly effective in patients with specific genetic polymorphisms and elevated metabolic markers. Safety profiles were comparable between both groups, with no serious adverse events reported. In conclusion, the AI-guided dietary supplement regimen significantly improved glycemic control and metabolic health in T2D patients compared to the standard physician-guided approach, demonstrating the potential of personalized AI-driven interventions in diabetes management. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Type%202%20diabetes" title="Type 2 diabetes">Type 2 diabetes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AI-guided%20supplementation" title=" AI-guided supplementation"> AI-guided supplementation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personalized%20medicine" title=" personalized medicine"> personalized medicine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glycemic%20control" title=" glycemic control"> glycemic control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic%20health" title=" metabolic health"> metabolic health</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genetic%20polymorphisms" title=" genetic polymorphisms"> genetic polymorphisms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dietary%20supplements" title=" dietary supplements"> dietary supplements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HbA1c" title=" HbA1c"> HbA1c</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fasting%20plasma%20glucose" title=" fasting plasma glucose"> fasting plasma glucose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HOMA-IR" title=" HOMA-IR"> HOMA-IR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personalized%20nutrition" title=" personalized nutrition"> personalized nutrition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194485/optimizing-glycemic-control-with-ai-guided-dietary-supplements-a-randomized-trial-in-type-2-diabetes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194485.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">10</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">372</span> Analyzing Mexican Adaptation of Shakespeare: A Study of Onstage Violence in Richard III and Its Impact on Mexican Viewers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nelya%20Babynets">Nelya Babynets</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Shakespeare and Mexican theatregoers have enjoyed quite a complex relationship. Shakespearean plays have appeared on the Mexican stage with remarkable perseverance, yet with mixed success. Although Shakespeare has long been a part of the global cultural marketplace and his works are celebrated all around the world, the adaptation of his plays on the contemporary Mexican stage is always an adventure, since the works of this early modern author are frequently seen as the legacy of a ‘high’, but obsolete, culture, one that is quite distant from the present-day viewers’ daily experiences and concerns. Moreover, Mexican productions of Shakespeare are presented mostly in Peninsular Spanish, a language similar yet alien to the language spoken in Mexico, one that does not wholly fit into the viewers’ cultural praxis. This is the reason why Mexican dramatic adaptations of Shakespearean plays tend to replace the cultural references of the original piece with ones that are more significant and innate to Latin American spectators. This paper analyses the new Mexican production of Richard III adapted and directed by Mauricio Garcia Lozano, which employs onstage violence - a cultural force that is inherent to all human beings regardless of their beliefs, ethnic background or nationality - as the means to make this play more relevant to a present-day audience. Thus, this paper addresses how the bloody bombast of staged murders helps to avoid the tyranny of a rigid framework of fixed meanings that denies the possibility of an intercultural appropriation of this European play written over four hundred years ago. The impact of violence displayed in Garcia Lozano’s adaptation of Richard III on Mexican audiences will also be examined. This study is particularly relevant in Mexico where the term ‘tragedy’ has become a commonplace and where drug wars and state-sanctioned violence have already taken the lives of many people. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=audience" title="audience">audience</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dramatic%20adaptation" title=" dramatic adaptation"> dramatic adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shakespeare" title=" Shakespeare"> Shakespeare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=viewer" title=" viewer"> viewer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83686/analyzing-mexican-adaptation-of-shakespeare-a-study-of-onstage-violence-in-richard-iii-and-its-impact-on-mexican-viewers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83686.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">459</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">371</span> Boundary Motion by Curvature: Accessible Modeling of Oil Spill Evaporation/Dissipation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gary%20Miller">Gary Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andriy%20Didenko"> Andriy Didenko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=David%20Allison"> David Allison</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The boundary of a region in the plane shrinks according to its curvature. Itaipu Power Plant is the biggest hydroelectric generator in the world, and provides clean and renewable electrical energy supply for 17% and 76% of Brazil and Paraguay, respectively. The plant started its generation in 1984. It counts on 20 Francis turbines and has installed capacity of 14,000 MWh. Its historic generation record occurred in 2016 (103,098,366 MWh), and since the beginning of its operation until the last day of 2016 the plant has achieved the sum of 2,415,789,823 MWh. The distinct sedimentologic aspects of the drainage area of Itaipu Power Plant, from its stretch upstream (Porto Primavera and Rosana dams) to downstream (Itaipu dam itself), were taken into account in order to best estimate the increase/decrease in the sediment yield by using data from 2001 to 2016. Such data are collected through a network of 14 automatic sedimentometric stations managed by the company itself and operating in an hourly basis, covering an area of around 136,000 km² (92% of the incremental drainage area of the undertaking). Since 1972, a series of lifespan studies for the Itaipu Power Plant have been made, being first assessed by Sir Hans Albert Einstein, at the time of the feasibility studies for the enterprise. From that date onwards, eight further studies were made through the last 44 years aiming to confer more precision upon the estimates based on more updated data sets. From the analysis of each monitoring station, it was clearly noticed strong increase tendencies in the sediment yield through the last 14 years, mainly in the Iguatemi, Ivaí, São Francisco Falso and Carapá Rivers, the latter situated in Paraguay, whereas the others are utterly in Brazilian territory. Five lifespan scenarios considering different sediment yield tendencies were simulated with the aid of the softwares SEDIMENT and DPOSIT, both developed by the author of the present work. Such softwares thoroughly follow the Borland & Miller methodology (empirical method of area-reduction). The soundest scenario out of the five ones under analysis indicated a lifespan foresight of 168 years, being the reservoir only 1.8% silted by the end of 2016, after 32 years of operation. Besides, the mass balance in the reservoir (water inflows minus outflows) between 1986 and 2016 shows that 2% of the whole Itaipu lake is silted nowadays. Owing to the convergence of both results, which were acquired by using different methodologies and independent input data, it is worth concluding that the mathematical modeling is satisfactory and calibrated, thus assigning credibility to this most recent lifespan estimate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Borland%20and%20Miller%20method" title="Borland and Miller method">Borland and Miller method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydroelectricity" title=" hydroelectricity"> hydroelectricity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Itaipu%20Power%20Plant" title=" Itaipu Power Plant"> Itaipu Power Plant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lifespan" title=" lifespan"> lifespan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mass%20balance" title=" mass balance"> mass balance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68683/most-recent-lifespan-estimate-for-the-itaipu-hydroelectric-power-plant-computed-by-using-borland-and-miller-method-and-mass-balance-in-brazil-paraguay" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68683.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">369</span> Application and Utility of the Rale Score for Assessment of Clinical Severity in Covid-19 Patients</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naridchaya%20Aberdour">Naridchaya Aberdour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joanna%20Kao"> Joanna Kao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anne%20Miller"> Anne Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Timothy%20Shore"> Timothy Shore</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Richard%20Maher"> Richard Maher</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhixin%20Liu"> Zhixin Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: COVID-19 has and continues to be a strain on healthcare globally, with the number of patients requiring hospitalization exceeding the level of medical support available in many countries. As chest x-rays are the primary respiratory radiological investigation, the Radiological Assessment of Lung Edema (RALE) score was used to quantify the extent of pulmonary infection on baseline imaging. Assessment of RALE score's reproducibility and associations with clinical outcome parameters were then evaluated to determine implications for patient management and prognosis. Methods: A retrospective study was performed with the inclusion of patients testing positive for COVID-19 on nasopharyngeal swab within a single Local Health District in Sydney, Australia and baseline x-ray imaging acquired between January to June 2020. Two independent Radiologists viewed the studies and calculated the RALE scores. Clinical outcome parameters were collected and statistical analysis was performed to assess RALE score reproducibility and possible associations with clinical outcomes. Results: A total of 78 patients met inclusion criteria with the age range of 4 to 91 years old. RALE score concordance between the two independent Radiologists was excellent (interclass correlation coefficient = 0.93, 95% CI = 0.88-0.95, p<0.005). Binomial logistics regression identified a positive correlation with hospital admission (1.87 OR, 95% CI= 1.3-2.6, p<0.005), oxygen requirement (1.48 OR, 95% CI= 1.2-1.8, p<0.005) and invasive ventilation (1.2 OR, 95% CI= 1.0-1.3, p<0.005) for each 1-point increase in RALE score. For each one year increased in age, there was a negative correlation with recovery (0.05 OR, 95% CI= 0.92-1.0, p<0.01). RALE scores above three were positively associated with hospitalization (Youden Index 0.61, sensitivity 0.73, specificity 0.89) and above six were positively associated with ICU admission (Youden Index 0.67, sensitivity 0.91, specificity 0.78). Conclusion: The RALE score can be used as a surrogate to quantify the extent of COVID-19 infection and has an excellent inter-observer agreement. The RALE score could be used to prognosticate and identify patients at high risk of deterioration. Threshold values may also be applied to predict the likelihood of hospital and ICU admission. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chest%20radiography" title="chest radiography">chest radiography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coronavirus" title=" coronavirus"> coronavirus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=COVID-19" title=" COVID-19"> COVID-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RALE%20score" title=" RALE score"> RALE score</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139107/application-and-utility-of-the-rale-score-for-assessment-of-clinical-severity-in-covid-19-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139107.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">368</span> The Impact of Working Environment Condition and Lifestyle Factors in Male Infertility in South of Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shabnam%20Etemadi">Shabnam Etemadi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Infertility is one of the most important issues in any society due to its psychological, medical and economic consequences that can greatly influence overall health and life. This study aims to assess the relationship between inhalation or exposing workplace pollution and dysfunction of the male reproductive system. Semen samples are male employees in south of Iran who exposed to work environmental pollutants for long hours. Method: Due to descriptive-analytical, the analysis of all interviews of all male patients of Bu Ali Medical Center and Pasteur Laboratory are conducted within 6 months. Random sampling numbered and patients signed informed consent. To analyze the data, Miller's fertility motivation questionnaires and the Miller-Smith lifestyle assessment inventory are used and Working Conditions Survey is developed. For analyzing the collecting data SPSS is used. Findings: Although sperm motility and volume had no statistically significant relationship with any of the lifestyle components, the weak relationship between sperm movement and work environment conditions (P = 0.07) lead to other factors to be investigated. * Among the factors of Working Environment Condition, smoking, work in the open environment and presence of more than 6 hours in the work environment with sperm mobility, smoking, contact with chemicals and radioactive with sperm volume at a level less than 0.05 had a statistically significant relationship. Conclusion: Finding revealed the environment pollution is one of the important factors in male infertility and strengthens this hypothesis. Working Environmental pollutants in the field of metropolitan pollution should be considered as a unifying hypothesis, possibly could interfere with male reproductive function. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infertility" title="infertility">infertility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lifestyle" title=" lifestyle"> lifestyle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=workplace%20pollution" title=" workplace pollution"> workplace pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=male%20infertility" title=" male infertility"> male infertility</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/192105/the-impact-of-working-environment-condition-and-lifestyle-factors-in-male-infertility-in-south-of-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/192105.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">26</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">367</span> Transcending the Boundary of Traumas: Spatial Trauma in Richard Powers&#039; &#039;The Echo Maker&#039;</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nodi%20Islam">Nodi Islam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper critically reads Richard Powers’ novel The Echo Maker to read and understand the personal traumas of the characters in the novel depending on the various situations they face throughout the story. Also, the paper attempts to read different traumas and disorders due to their different situations. With a focus on the individual experiences, this paper addresses the core issues of trauma, which triggers their reactions and reads the novel through theories of Freud, Caruth, and other critics in this field. While transcending the boundary of personal and collective trauma, this paper suggests that traumas not only arise from the core mental issues, from both past or present memories; it also depends on places too which can be called, according to Yi-Fu Tuan, topophobia. Intimate places such as home provoke not only attachment and expectation but also produce fear in a person. Failure in identifying with such places means losing a central piece of identity of the individual. In order to analyse the traumas in the novel, the characters’ association with homes and places has been provided. This paper attempts to suggest that people are not traumatised because of what Freud explained as unpleasant memories of the past but also intimacy and lost identities related to a place can trigger trauma. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20trauma" title="spatial trauma">spatial trauma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traumatic%20stress%20disorder" title=" traumatic stress disorder"> traumatic stress disorder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=identity%20and%20place" title=" identity and place"> identity and place</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=core%20mental%20issues" title=" core mental issues"> core mental issues</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/109813/transcending-the-boundary-of-traumas-spatial-trauma-in-richard-powers-the-echo-maker" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/109813.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">149</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">366</span> Olive-Mill Wastewater and Organo-Mineral Fertlizers Application for the Control of Parasitic Weed Phelipanche ramosa L. The experimental was considered to investigate the effect of six organic compounds (Olive miller wastewater, Allil isothiocyanate®, Alfa plus K®, Radicon®, Rizosum Max®, Kendal Nem®) on the naturally infested field of tomato growing season in 2016. The randomized block design with 3 replicates was adopted. Tomato seedling were transplant on 19 May 2016. During the growing cycle of the tomato at 74, 81, 93 and 103 days after transplantation (DAT), the number of parasitic shoots (branched plants) that had emerged in each plot was determined. At harvesting on 13 September 2016 the major quanti-qualitative yield parameters were determined, including marketable yield, mean weight, dry matter, soluble solids, fruit colour, pH and titratable acidity. The treatments provided the results show that none of treatments provided complete control against P. ramosa. However, among the products tested Olive miller wastewater, Alfa plus K®, Rizosum Max® and Kendal Nem® products applied to the soil show the number of emerged shoots significantly lower than Radicon® and especially than the Allil isothiocyanate® treatment and the untreated control. Regarding the effect of different treatments on the tomato productive parameters, the marketable yield resulted significantly higher in the same mentioned treatments which gave the lower P. ramosa infestation. No significative differences for the other fruit characteristics were observed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=processing%20tomato%20crop" title="processing tomato crop">processing tomato crop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Phelipanche%20ramosa" title=" Phelipanche ramosa"> Phelipanche ramosa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=olive-mill%20wastewater" title=" olive-mill wastewater"> olive-mill wastewater</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20fertilizers" title=" organic fertilizers"> organic fertilizers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71099/olive-mill-wastewater-and-organo-mineral-fertlizers-application-for-the-control-of-parasitic-weed-phelipanche-ramosa-l-pomel-in-tomato" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71099.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">325</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">365</span> Spatial Variation of WRF Model Rainfall Prediction over Uganda</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Isaac%20Mugume">Isaac Mugume</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Charles%20Basalirwa"> Charles Basalirwa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Waiswa"> Daniel Waiswa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Triphonia%20Ngailo"> Triphonia Ngailo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Rainfall is a major climatic parameter affecting many sectors such as health, agriculture and water resources. Its quantitative prediction remains a challenge to weather forecasters although numerical weather prediction models are increasingly being used for rainfall prediction. The performance of six convective parameterization schemes, namely the Kain-Fritsch scheme, the Betts-Miller-Janjic scheme, the Grell-Deveny scheme, the Grell-3D scheme, the Grell-Fretas scheme, the New Tiedke scheme of the weather research and forecast (WRF) model regarding quantitative rainfall prediction over Uganda is investigated using the root mean square error for the March-May (MAM) 2013 season. The MAM 2013 seasonal rainfall amount ranged from 200 mm to 900 mm over Uganda with northern region receiving comparatively lower rainfall amount (200&ndash;500 mm); western Uganda (270&ndash;550 mm); eastern Uganda (400&ndash;900 mm) and the lake Victoria basin (400&ndash;650 mm). A spatial variation in simulated rainfall amount by different convective parameterization schemes was noted with the Kain-Fritsch scheme over estimating the rainfall amount over northern Uganda (300&ndash;750 mm) but also presented comparable rainfall amounts over the eastern Uganda (400&ndash;900 mm). The Betts-Miller-Janjic, the Grell-Deveny, and the Grell-3D underestimated the rainfall amount over most parts of the country especially the eastern region (300&ndash;600 mm). The Grell-Fretas captured rainfall amount over the northern region (250&ndash;450 mm) but also underestimated rainfall over the lake Victoria Basin (150&ndash;300 mm) while the New Tiedke generally underestimated rainfall amount over many areas of Uganda. For deterministic rainfall prediction, the Grell-Fretas is recommended for rainfall prediction over northern Uganda while the Kain-Fritsch scheme is recommended over eastern region. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=convective%20parameterization%20schemes" title="convective parameterization schemes">convective parameterization schemes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=March-May%202013%20rainfall%20season" title=" March-May 2013 rainfall season"> March-May 2013 rainfall season</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20variation%20of%20parameterization%20schemes%20over%20Uganda" title=" spatial variation of parameterization schemes over Uganda"> spatial variation of parameterization schemes over Uganda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=WRF%20model" title=" WRF model"> WRF model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69722/spatial-variation-of-wrf-model-rainfall-prediction-over-uganda" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69722.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">311</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">364</span> Fracture and Fatigue Crack Growth Analysis and Modeling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Volkmar%20Nolting">Volkmar Nolting</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fatigue crack growth prediction has become an important topic in both engineering and non-destructive evaluation. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) offer the potential for more personalized and effective dietary supplement (DS) regimens to promote weight loss. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of AI-guided DS prescriptions compared to standard physician-guided DS prescriptions in obese patients. Methods: This randomized, parallel-group pilot study enrolled 60 individuals aged 40 to 60 years with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater. Participants were randomized to receive either AI-guided DS prescriptions (n = 30) or physician-guided DS prescriptions (n = 30) for 180 days. The primary endpoints were the percentage change in body weight and the proportion of participants achieving a ≥5% weight reduction. Secondary endpoints included changes in BMI, fat mass, visceral fat rating, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, lipid profiles, fasting plasma glucose, hsCRP levels, and postprandial appetite ratings. Adverse events were monitored throughout the study. Results: Both groups were well balanced in terms of baseline characteristics. Significant weight loss was observed in the AI-guided group, with a mean reduction of -12.3% (95% CI: -13.1 to -11.5%) compared to -7.2% (95% CI: -8.1 to -6.3%) in the physician-guided group, resulting in a treatment difference of -5.1% (95% CI: -6.4 to -3.8%; p < 0.01). At day 180, 84.7% of the AI-guided group achieved a weight reduction of ≥5%, compared to 54.5% in the physician-guided group (Odds Ratio: 4.3; 95% CI: 3.1 to 5.9; p < 0.01). Significant improvements were also observed in BMI, fat mass, and visceral fat rating in the AI-guided group (p < 0.01 for all). Postprandial appetite suppression was greater in the AI-guided group, with significant reductions in hunger and prospective food consumption, and increases in fullness and satiety (p < 0.01 for all). Adverse events were generally mild-to-moderate, with higher incidences of gastrointestinal symptoms in the AI-guided group, but these were manageable and did not impact adherence. Conclusion: The AI-guided dietary supplement regimen was more effective in promoting weight loss, improving body composition, and suppressing appetite compared to the physician-guided regimen. These findings suggest that AI-guided, personalized supplement prescriptions could offer a more effective approach to managing obesity. Further research with larger sample sizes is warranted to confirm these results and optimize AI-based interventions for weight loss. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obesity" title="obesity">obesity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AI-guided" title=" AI-guided"> AI-guided</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dietary%20supplements" title=" dietary supplements"> dietary supplements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weight%20loss" title=" weight loss"> weight loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personalized%20medicine" title=" personalized medicine"> personalized medicine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic%20health" title=" metabolic health"> metabolic health</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=appetite%20suppression" title=" appetite suppression"> appetite suppression</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194486/optimizing-weight-loss-with-ai-genais-a-randomized-trial-of-dietary-supplement-prescriptions-in-obese-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194486.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">8</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">361</span> Stop Forced Child Marriage: A Comparative Global Law Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20J.%20Miller">Michelle J. At a stage of vulnerability; cultural practices, religious rights, and social standards place girls in a position where they are catapult into womanhood. An advocate against forced child marriage could argue that child rights, cultural rights, religious rights, right to marry, right to life, right to health, right to education, right to be free from slavery, right to be free from torture, right to consent to marriage are all violated by the practice of child marriage.
