so he made<MH6213a> side<MH6763> chambers<MH6763> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>The lowest<MH8481> story<MH3330b> <i>was</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>, the middle<MH8484> <i>was</i> six<MH8337a> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>, and the third<MH7992> <i>was</i> seven<MH7651> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>; for on the outside<MH2351> he <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>made<MH5414> offsets<MH4052> <i>in the wall</i> of the house<MH1004> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> so that <i>the beams</i> would not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>be inserted<MH270> into the walls<MH7023> of the house<MH1004>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The house<MH1004>, while it was being built<MH1129>, was built<MH1129> of stone<MH68> finished<MH8003> at the quarry<MH4551a>, and neither<MH3808> hammer<MH4717>, nor<MH3808> axe<MH1631>, nor<MH3808> any<MH3605> iron<MH1270> tool<MH3627> was heard<MH8085> in the house<MH1004> while it was being built<MH1129>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>The doorway<MH6607> for the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>lowest<MH8481> side<MH6763> chamber<MH6763> <i>was</i> on the right<MH3233> side<MH3802> of the house<MH1004>; and they would go<MH5927> up<MH5927> by a winding<MH3883> staircase<MH3883> to the middle<MH8484> <i>story,</i> and from the middle<MH8484> to the third<MH7992>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>So he built<MH1129> the house<MH1004> and finished<MH3615> it; and he covered<MH5603> the house<MH1004> with beams<MH1356b> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>planks<MH7713> of cedar<MH730>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>He also built<MH1129> the stories<MH3330b> against<MH5921> the whole<MH3605> house<MH1004>, <i>each</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> high<MH6967>; and they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>were attached<MH270> to the house<MH1004> with timbers<MH6086> of cedar<MH730>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Now the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to Solomon<MH8010>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>&#8220;<i>As for</i> this<MH2088> house<MH1004> which<MH834> you are building<MH1129>, if<MH518> you will walk<MH1980> in My statutes<MH2708> and execute<MH6213a> My ordinances<MH4941> and keep<MH8104> all<MH3605> My commandments<MH4687> by walking<MH1980> in them, then I will fulfill<MH6965> My word<MH1697> with you which<MH834> I spoke<MH1696> to David<MH1732> your father<MH1>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And I will dwell<MH7931> among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, and will not abandon<MH5800a> My people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>.&#8221; <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>So Solomon<MH8010> built<MH1129> the house<MH1004> and finished<MH3615> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>He built<MH1129> the walls<MH7023> of the house<MH1004> on the inside<MH4480, 1004> with boards<MH6763> of cedar<MH730>; from the floor<MH7172> of the house<MH1004> to the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>ceiling<MH7023, 5604> he paneled<MH6823> <i>the walls</i> on the inside<MH4480, 1004> with wood<MH6086>, and he paneled<MH6823> the floor<MH7172> of the house<MH1004> with boards<MH6763> of juniper<MH1265>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>He also built<MH1129> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>twenty<MH6242> cubits<MH520> on the rear<MH3411> part<MH3411> of the house<MH1004> with boards<MH6763> of cedar<MH730> from the floor<MH7172> to the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>ceiling<MH7023>; he built<MH1129> <i>them</i> for it on the inside<MH4480, 1004> as an inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687>, as the Most<MH6944> Holy<MH6944> Place<MH6944>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>The house<MH1004>, that is, the main<MH1964> room<MH1964> in front<MH6440> of <i>the inner sanctuary,</i> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>forty<MH705> cubits<MH520> <i>long.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>There was cedar<MH730> inside<MH6441> the house<MH1004>, carved<MH4734> <i>in the shape</i> of gourds<MH6497> and open<MH6362> flowers<MH6731b>; everything<MH3605> was cedar<MH730>, there<MH369> was<MH369> no<MH369> stone<MH68> visible<MH7200>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Then he prepared<MH3559> an inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687> inside<MH8432> the house<MH1004> in order to place<MH5414> there<MH8033> the ark<MH727> of the covenant<MH1285> of the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>The inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687> <i>was</i> twenty<MH6242> cubits<MH520> in length<MH753>, twenty<MH6242> cubits<MH520> in width<MH7341>, and twenty<MH6242> cubits<MH520> in height<MH6967>; and he overlaid<MH6823> it with pure<MH5458a> gold<MH2091>. He also paneled<MH6823> the altar<MH4196> with cedar<MH730>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>So Solomon<MH8010> overlaid<MH6823> the inside<MH4480, 6441> of the house<MH1004> with pure<MH5458a> gold<MH2091>. And he extended<MH5674a> chains<MH7569> of gold<MH2091> across<MH5674a> the front<MH6440> of the inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687>, and he overlaid<MH6823> it with gold<MH2091>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>He overlaid<MH6823> the entire<MH3605> house<MH1004> with gold<MH2091>, until<MH5704> all<MH3605> the house<MH1004> was finished<MH8552>. Also the entire<MH3605> altar<MH4196> which<MH834> was by the inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687> he overlaid<MH6823> with gold<MH2091>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And in the inner<MH1687> sanctuary<MH1687> he made<MH6213a> two<MH8147> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>cherubim<MH3742> of olive<MH8081> wood<MH6086>, each <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>ten<MH6235> cubits<MH520> high<MH6967>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>The one<MH259> wing<MH3671> of the <i>first</i> cherub<MH3742> <i>was</i> five<MH2568> cubits<MH520>, and the other<MH8145> wing<MH3671> of the <i>first</i> cherub<MH3742> <i>was</i> five<MH2568> cubits<MH520>; from the end<MH7098> of one wing<MH3671> to the end<MH7098> of the other wing<MH3671> <i>were</i> ten<MH6235> cubits<MH520>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>The second<MH8145> cherub<MH3742> <i>was</i> ten<MH6235> cubits<MH520>; both<MH8147> of the cherubim<MH3742> were of the same<MH259> measurement<MH4060a> and the same<MH259> form<MH7095>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>The height<MH6967> of the one<MH259> cherub<MH3742> <i>was</i> ten<MH6235> cubits<MH520>, and so<MH3651> <i>was that of</i> the other<MH8145> cherub<MH3742>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/6-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>He placed<MH5414> the cherubim<MH3742> in the midst<MH8432> of the inner<MH6442> house<MH1004>, and the wings<MH3671> of the cherubim<MH3742> spread<MH6566> out<MH6566> so that the wing<MH3671> of the one<MH259> was touching<MH5060> the <i>one</i> wall<MH7023>, and the wing<MH3671> of the other<MH8145> cherub<MH3742> was touching<MH5060> the other<MH8145> wall<MH7023>.
