how<MG2245> great<MG2245> a struggle<MG73> I have<MG2192> in<MG5228> your behalf<MG5228> and for those<MG3588> who<MG3588> are at Laodicea<MG2993>, and for all<MG3745> those who<MG3745> have not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>personally<MG4561> seen<MG3708> my face<MG4383>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>that their hearts<MG2588> may be encouraged<MG3870>, having been knit<MG4822> together<MG4822> in love<MG26>, and <i>that they would attain</i> to all<MG3956> the wealth<MG4149> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>that comes from the full<MG4136> assurance<MG4136> of understanding<MG4907>, <i>resulting</i> in a true<MG1922> knowledge<MG1922> of God’s<MG2316> mystery<MG3466>, <i>that is,</i> Christ<MG5547> <i>Himself,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>in whom<MG3739> are hidden<MG614> all<MG3956> the treasures<MG2344> of wisdom<MG4678> and knowledge<MG1108>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>I say<MG3004> this<MG3778> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> no<MG3367> one<MG3367> will deceive<MG3884> you with persuasive<MG4086> arguments<MG4086>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>For even<MG2532> though<MG1487> I am<MG548> absent<MG548> in body<MG4561>, I am<MG1510> nevertheless<MG235> with you in spirit<MG4151>, rejoicing<MG5463> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>to see<MG991> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>your orderly<MG5010> manner<MG5010> and the stability<MG4733> of your faith<MG4102> in Christ<MG5547>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767>, as you have received<MG3880> Christ<MG5547> Jesus<MG2424> the Lord<MG2962>, <i>so</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>walk<MG4043> in Him, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>having been firmly<MG4492> rooted<MG4492> and <i>now</i> being built<MG2026> up<MG2026> in Him and established<MG950> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>your faith<MG4102>, just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> you were instructed<MG1321>, <i>and</i> overflowing<MG4052> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>with gratitude<MG2169>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>See<MG991> to it that there is no<MG3361> one<MG5100> who takes<MG4812> you captive<MG4812> through<MG1223> philosophy<MG5385> and empty<MG2756> deception<MG539> in<MG2596> accordance<MG2596> with<MG2596> human<MG444> tradition<MG3862>, in<MG2596> accordance<MG2596> with<MG2596> the elementary<MG4747> principles<MG4747> of the world<MG2889>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>rather<MG3756> than<MG2532, 3756> in<MG2596> accordance<MG2596> with<MG2596> Christ<MG5547>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For in Him all<MG3956> the fullness<MG4138> of Deity<MG2320> dwells<MG2730> in bodily<MG4985> form<MG4985>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>and in Him you have been<MG1510> made<MG4137> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>complete<MG4137>, and He is the head<MG2776> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>over every<MG3956> ruler<MG746> and authority<MG1849>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>and in Him you were also<MG2532> circumcised<MG4059> with a circumcision<MG4061> performed<MG886> without<MG886> hands<MG886>, in the removal<MG555> of the body<MG4983> of the flesh<MG4561> by the circumcision<MG4061> of Christ<MG5547>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>having been buried<MG4916> with Him in baptism<MG909>, in which<MG3739> you were also<MG2532> raised<MG4891> with Him through<MG1223> faith<MG4102> in the working<MG1753b> of God<MG2316>, who raised<MG1453> Him from the dead<MG3498>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>when you were dead<MG3498> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>in your wrongdoings<MG3900> and the uncircumcision<MG203> of your flesh<MG4561>, He made<MG4806> you alive<MG4806> together<MG4806> with Him, having forgiven<MG5483> us all<MG3956> our wrongdoings<MG3900>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>having canceled<MG1813> the certificate<MG5498> of<MG5498> debt<MG5498> consisting of decrees<MG1378> against<MG2596> us, which<MG3739> was hostile<MG5227> to us; and He has taken<MG142> it out of the way<MG3319>, having nailed<MG4338> it to the cross<MG4716>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>When He had <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>disarmed<MG554> the rulers<MG746> and authorities<MG1849>, He made<MG1165> a public<MG3954> display<MG1165> <i>of them,</i> having triumphed<MG2358> over<MG2358> them through<MG1722> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>Him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767>, no<MG3361> one<MG5100> is to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>act<MG2919> as<MG2919> your judge<MG2919> in regard to food<MG1035> and drink<MG4213>, or<MG2228> in respect<MG3313> to a festival<MG1859> or<MG2228> a new<MG3501a> moon<MG3501a>, or<MG2228> a Sabbath<MG4521> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>day— <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>things which<MG3739> are <i>only</i> a shadow<MG4639> of what is to come<MG3195>; but the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>substance<MG4983> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>belongs to Christ<MG5547>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><i>Take care that</i> no<MG3367> one<MG3367> keeps <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>defrauding<MG2603> you of<MG2603> your prize<MG2603> by delighting<MG2309> in humility<MG5012a> and the worship<MG2356> of the angels<MG32a>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>taking<MG1687> his stand<MG1687> on <i>visions</i> he has seen<MG3708>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>inflated<MG5448> without<MG1500> cause<MG1500> by his fleshly<MG4561> mind<MG3563>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>and not holding<MG2902> firmly<MG2902> to the head<MG2776>, from whom<MG3739> the entire<MG3956> body<MG4983>, being supplied<MG2023> and held<MG4822> together<MG4822> by the joints<MG860> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>ligaments<MG4886>, grows<MG837> with a growth<MG838> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>which is from God<MG2316>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>If<MG1487> you have died<MG599> with Christ<MG5547> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[y]</a></span>to the elementary<MG4747> principles<MG4747> of the world<MG2889>, why<MG5101>, as if<MG5613> you were living<MG2198> in the world<MG2889>, do you submit<MG1379> yourself to<MG1379> decrees<MG1379>, <i>such as,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>“Do not handle<MG681>, do not taste<MG1089>, do not touch<MG2345>!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>(which<MG3739> all<MG3956> <i>refer</i> <i>to</i> things destined to perish<MG5356> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[z]</a></span>with use<MG671>)—in accordance<MG2596> with the commandments<MG1778> and teachings<MG1319> of man<MG444>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/colossians/2-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>These<MG3748> are matters<MG2192>
