In Hebrew, this is often a conjunction that indicates a conclusion or result. It suggests that what follows is a direct consequence of God's previous declarations. This word invites the reader to reflect on the cause-and-effect nature of divine justice and mercy, emphasizing that God's actions are purposeful and rooted in His covenantal faithfulness.
you will no longer devour men
The phrase "you will no longer devour men" uses vivid imagery to describe the cessation of a destructive pattern. In Hebrew, the word for "devour" can also mean to consume or destroy. Historically, this refers to the land of Israel, which had been a place of suffering and loss due to invasions and exile. The promise here is one of restoration and protection, indicating a future where the land will no longer be a place of death and despair. This reflects God's redemptive plan to transform Israel into a place of life and blessing.
or deprive your nation of its children
The phrase "or deprive your nation of its children" speaks to the end of a tragic cycle of loss. The Hebrew root for "deprive" can mean to bereave or rob, suggesting a deep sense of loss and mourning. This promise assures that the nation will no longer suffer the loss of its future generations, a reversal of the curses that had plagued them. It highlights God's intention to restore the nation, ensuring its growth and continuity. This is a powerful reminder of God's sovereignty and His ability to bring life out of desolation.
declares the Lord GOD
The phrase "declares the Lord GOD" is a solemn affirmation of divine authority. In Hebrew, "declares" is often used in prophetic literature to emphasize the certainty and seriousness of God's word. "The Lord GOD" combines the sacred name Yahweh with the title Adonai, underscoring both His covenantal relationship with Israel and His supreme authority. This declaration assures the reader of the reliability and unchanging nature of God's promises. It is a call to trust in His word, knowing that what He has spoken will surely come to pass.
Pulpit Commentary
Verse 14. - Thou shalt devour men no more. From the middle of ver. 12 the form of address changes from the plural to the singular, the whole country, mountains, and valleys being regarded as one land, as in Deuteronomy 3:25. The charge preferred against the country by her enemies was that she had been a land that devoured men and "bereaved its nations" (or, "nation," Revised Version); literally, an eater-up of men and a bereaver of thy nations; i.e. of Israel and Judah, perhaps also of the Canaanites, their predecessors (Fausset), the image being that of a wild beast which ravages the population and makes them childless, as in Ezekiel 5:17 and Ezekiel 14:15 (Smend), rather than that of an unnatural mother, a Rabenmutter, as in 2 Kings 6:29, who devours her offspring (Ewald). This charge, in which, perhaps, the prophet detected an allusion to Numbers 13:32, had certainly in times past been true; not, however, as Hengstenberg suggests, because the land had been "an apple of discord for the Asiatic and African powers," or, as Ewald explains, because "the tremendous restlessness, the excited push and hurry of such a mentally active city must in any case have used up its inhabitants more rapidly;" but, as Keil, Plumptre, and others interpret, because of the judgments of sword, famine, and pestilence sent upon the land by Jehovah for its sins. These judgments had so destroyed its inhabitants, first the Canaanites, and latterly the two peoples of Israel and Judah, that "those who looked upon it deemed it a fatal land, which brought destruction to all who should occupy it" (Currey). In the golden age to which the prophet looked forward, no such reproach should be possible. Not only should the laud not bereave its nations (according to the Keri, followed by the Authorized and Revised Versions, as well as by Ewald and Smend), but (according to the Chethib, preferred by Keil, Kliefoth, Havernick, Heugstenberg, Schroder, and Plumptre) it should not even cause them (or it) to stumble; i.e. should no more cause its inhabitants to lapse into those sins, amongst which idolatry stood prominent, which entailed on them ruin. Hengstenberg's idea, that "moral stumbling is not to be thought of in this connection," is certainly to be rejected.

Parallel Commentaries ...

Hebrew
therefore
לָכֵ֗ן (lā·ḵên)
Adverb
Strong's 3651: So -- thus

you will no
לֹא־ (lō-)
Adverb - Negative particle
Strong's 3808: Not, no

longer
ע֔וֹד (‘ō·wḏ)
Adverb
Strong's 5750: Iteration, continuance, again, repeatedly, still, more

devour
תֹ֣אכְלִי (ṯō·ḵə·lî)
Verb - Qal - Imperfect - second person feminine singular
Strong's 398: To eat

men
אָדָם֙ (’ā·ḏām)
Noun - masculine singular
Strong's 120: Ruddy, a human being

or deprive
תְשַׁכְּלִי־ (ṯə·šak·kə·lî-)
Verb - Piel - Imperfect - second person feminine singular
Strong's 3782: To totter, waver, to falter, stumble, faint, fall

your nation {of its children},
וְגוֹיַ֖יִךְ (wə·ḡō·w·ya·yiḵ)
Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | second person feminine singular
Strong's 1471: A foreign nation, a Gentile, a troop of animals, a flight of locusts

declares
נְאֻ֖ם (nə·’um)
Noun - masculine singular construct
Strong's 5002: An oracle

the Lord
אֲדֹנָ֥י (’ă·ḏō·nāy)
Noun - proper - masculine singular
Strong's 136: The Lord

GOD.
יְהוִֽה׃ (Yah·weh)
Noun - proper - masculine singular
Strong's 3069: YHWH

Links
Ezekiel 36:14 NIV
Ezekiel 36:14 NLT
Ezekiel 36:14 ESV
Ezekiel 36:14 NASB
Ezekiel 36:14 KJV

Ezekiel 36:14 BibleApps.com
Ezekiel 36:14 Biblia Paralela
Ezekiel 36:14 Chinese Bible
Ezekiel 36:14 French Bible
Ezekiel 36:14 Catholic Bible

OT Prophets: Ezekiel 36:14 Therefore you shall devour men no more (Ezek.
