Simultaneously, with the raise of smartphones as the most ubiquitous technology on persons lives, emerge new agents for these devices - Intelligent Personal Assistants. These agents have the goal of helping the user manage and organize his information as well as supporting the user in his/her day-to-day tasks. Moreover, other emergent concept is the Cloud Computing, which allows computation and storage to get out of the users devices, bringing benefits in terms of performance, security, interoperability and others. Connecting these three paradigms, in this work we propose an architecture for an intelligent system which provides an interface that assists the user on smart environments, informing, suggesting actions and allowing to manage the objects of his/her daily life. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internet%20of%20things" title="internet of things">internet of things</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud" title=" cloud"> cloud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intelligent%20personal%20assistant" title=" intelligent personal assistant"> intelligent personal assistant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=architecture" title=" architecture"> architecture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21138/a-pervasive-system-architecture-for-smart-environments-in-internet-of-things-context" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21138.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">514</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">141</span> Exchanges between Literature and Cinema: Scripted Writing in the Novel "Miguel e os Demônios", by Lourenço Mutarelli</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marilia%20Correa%20Parecis%20De%20Oliveira">Marilia Correa Parecis De Oliveira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research looks at the novel Miguel e os demônios (2009), by the contemporary Brazilian author Lourenço Mutarelli. In it, the presence of film language resources is remarkable, creating thus a kind of scripted writing. We intend to analyze the presence of film language in work under study, in which there is a mixture of the characteristics of the novel and screenplay genres, trying to explore which aesthetic and meaning effects of the ownership of a visual language for the creation of a literary text create in the novel. The objective of this research is to identify and analyze the formal and thematic aspects that characterize the hybridity of literature and film in the novel by Lourenço Mutarelli. The method employed comprises reading and production cataloging of theoretical and critical texts, literary and film theory, historical review about the author, and also the realization of an analytical and interpretative reading of novel. In Miguel e os demônios there is a range of formal and thematic elements of popular narrative genres such as the detective story and action film, with a predominance of verb forms in the present and NPs - features that tend to make present the narrated scenes, as in the cinema. The novel, in this sense, is located in an intermediate position between the literary text and the pre-film text, as though filled with proper elements of the language of film, you can not fit it categorically in the genre script, since it does not reduce the script because aspires to be read as a novel. Therefore, the difficulty of fitting the work in a single gender also refused to be extra-textual factors - such as your publication as novel - but, rather, by the binary classifications serve solely to imprison the work on a label, which impoverish not only reading the text, as also the possibility of recognizing literature as a constant dialogue space and interaction with other media. We can say, therefore, that frame the work Miguel e os demônios in one of the two genres (novel or screenplay) proves not enough, since the text is revealed a hybrid narrative, consisting in a kind of scripted writing. In this sense, it is like a text that is born in a society saturated by audiovisual in their daily lives in order to be consumed by readers who, in ascending scale, exchange books by visual narratives. However, the novel uses film's resources without giving up its constitution as literature; on the contrary, it enriches the visual and linguistically, dialoguing with the complex contemporary horizon marked by the cultural industry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brazilian%20literature" title="Brazilian literature">Brazilian literature</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cinema" title=" cinema"> cinema</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Louren%C3%A7o%20Mutarelli" title=" Lourenço Mutarelli"> Lourenço Mutarelli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=screenplay" title=" screenplay"> screenplay</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77869/exchanges-between-literature-and-cinema-scripted-writing-in-the-novel-miguel-e-os-demonios-by-lourenco-mutarelli" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77869.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">310</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">140</span> MRI Compatible Fresnel Zone Plates made of Polylactic Acid</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Tarraz%C3%B3-Serrano">Daniel Tarrazó-Serrano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergio%20P%C3%A9rez-L%C3%B3pez"> Sergio Pérez-López</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergio%20Casti%C3%B1eira-Ib%C3%A1%C3%B1ez"> Sergio Castiñeira-Ibáñez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pilar%20Candelas"> Pilar Candelas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Constanza%20Rubio"> Constanza Rubio</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Zone Plates (ZPs) are used in many areas of physics where planar fabrication is advantageous in comparison with conventional curved lenses. There are several types of ZPs, such as the well-known Fresnel ZPs or the more recent Fractal ZPs and Fibonacci ZPs. The material selection of the lens plays a very important role in the beam modulation control. This work presents a comparison between two Fresnel ZP made from different materials in the ultrasound domain: Polylactic Acid (PLA) and brass. PLA is the most common material used in commercial 3D-printers due to its high design flexibility and low cost. Numerical simulations based on Finite Element Method (FEM) and experimental results are shown, and they prove that the focusing capabilities of brass ZPs and PLA ZPs are similar. For this reason, PLA is proposed as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) compatible material with great potential for therapeutic ultrasound focusing applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FZP" title="FZP">FZP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PLA" title=" PLA"> PLA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=focus" title=" focus"> focus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasound" title=" ultrasound"> ultrasound</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MRI" title=" MRI"> MRI</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94175/mri-compatible-fresnel-zone-plates-made-of-polylactic-acid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94175.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">204</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">139</span> A Project in the Framework “Nextgenerationeu”: Sustainable Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Evolution - SERGIO</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patrizia%20Frontera">Patrizia Frontera</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anastasia%20Macario"> Anastasia Macario</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Simona%20Crispi"> Simona Crispi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Angela%20Malara"> Angela Malara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pierantonio%20De%20Luca"> Pierantonio De Luca</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stefano%20Trocino"> Stefano Trocino</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The exploration of solar energy for the photoelectrochemical splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen has been extensively researched as a means of generating sustainable H₂ fuel. However, despite these efforts, commercialization of this technology has not yet materialized. Presently, the primary impediments to commercialization include low solar-to-hydrogen efficiency (2-3% in PEC with an active area of up to 10-15 cm²), the utilization of costly and critical raw materials (e.g., BiVO₄), and energy losses during the separation of H₂ from O₂ and H₂O vapours in the output stream. The SERGIO partners have identified an advanced approach to fabricate photoelectrode materials, coupled with an appropriate scientific direction to achieve cost-effective solar-driven H₂ production in a tandem photoelectrochemical cell. This project is designed to reach Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 by validating the technology in the laboratory using a cell with an active area of up to 10 cm², boasting a solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of 5%, and ensuring acceptable hydrogen purity (99.99%). Our objectives include breakthroughs in cost efficiency, conversion efficiency, and H₂ purity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoelectrolysis" title="photoelectrolysis">photoelectrolysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=green%20hydrogen" title=" green hydrogen"> green hydrogen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoelectrochemical%20cell" title=" photoelectrochemical cell"> photoelectrochemical cell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semiconductors" title=" semiconductors"> semiconductors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183030/a-project-in-the-framework-nextgenerationeu-sustainable-photoelectrochemical-hydrogen-evolution-sergio" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183030.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">138</span> POP Music and Tai Chi – Movement and Stillness Intertwined in The Contemporary World</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patricia%20Portugal%20Marques%20de%20Carvalho%20Louren%C3%A7o">Patricia Portugal Marques de Carvalho Lourenço</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Pop Music embodies both the music that is popular with the audiences and the one that is widespread amongst the general public associated with a state of mind and rhythm. Tai Chi epitomises Yin and Yang, two interconnected opposite states of being. Undivided, they are one, a neutral state of consciousness that does not swing to either pole. It remains constant and even minded. Sound flows and vibrations cause movement, a physical response to the tempo. When an excessive movement is reached leads to stillness therefore, extreme Yang leads to Yin. Pop Music and Tai Chi are comparable to state of inner being versus a state of outer being, emotional control versus emotional expression, stillness, and movement; opposites that are independent of one another yet interdependent concepts in motion. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pop%20music" title="Pop music">Pop music</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C-Pop" title=" C-Pop"> C-Pop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tai%20Chi" title=" Tai Chi"> Tai Chi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ba%20Gua" title=" Ba Gua"> Ba Gua</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=communication" title=" communication"> communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entertainment%20education" title=" entertainment education"> entertainment education</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148595/pop-music-and-tai-chi-movement-and-stillness-intertwined-in-the-contemporary-world" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148595.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">137</span> Product Placement and Advertising in Chinese Internet Dramas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patricia%20Portugal%20Marques%20de%20Carvalho%20Lourenco">Patricia Portugal Marques de Carvalho Lourenco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents the richness of product placement usage in Chinese IP dramas. Collectivist, South Korea’s fans showcase their undivided support to one artist comeback towards earning a triple-crown in domestic music charts. In contrast, individualist international fans collectively ship a plethora of artists and collaborate amongst themselves to the continuous expansion of K-Pop into a mainstream cultural glocalization in international music charts. The distinct idiosyncrasies between the two groups creates a heterogeneous K-Pop brand attitude that is challenging to tackle marketing wise for lack of homogeneity in the sub-cultural K-Pop fandom. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K-Pop%20fandom" title="K-Pop fandom">K-Pop fandom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single-fandom" title=" single-fandom"> single-fandom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-fandom" title=" multi-fandom"> multi-fandom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=individualism" title=" individualism"> individualism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collectivism" title=" collectivism"> collectivism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brand%20attitude" title=" brand attitude"> brand attitude</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sub-culture" title=" sub-culture"> sub-culture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83021/k-pop-fandom-a-sub-cultural-influencer-on-k-pop-brand-attitude" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83021.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">286</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">134</span> Dynamic Performance Analysis of Distribution/ Sub-Transmission Networks with High Penetration of PV Generation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristian%20F.T.%20Montenegro">Cristian F.T. As the number of PV systems increases, some issues affecting grid operations have been identified. This paper studied the impacts related to changes in solar irradiance on a distribution/sub-transmission network, considering variations due to moving clouds and daily cycles. Using MATLAB/Simulink software, a solar farm of 30 MWp was built and then implemented to a test network. From simulations, it has been determined that irradiance changes can have a significant impact on the grid by causing voltage fluctuations outside the allowable thresholds. This work discussed some local control strategies and grid reinforcements to mitigate the negative effects of the irradiance changes on the grid. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactive%20power%20control" title="reactive power control">reactive power control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solar%20irradiance" title=" solar irradiance"> solar irradiance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=utility-scale%20PV%20systems" title=" utility-scale PV systems"> utility-scale PV systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=voltage%20fluctuations" title=" voltage fluctuations"> voltage fluctuations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44539/dynamic-performance-analysis-of-distribution-sub-transmission-networks-with-high-penetration-of-pv-generation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44539.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">460</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">133</span> Hong Kong Artists Public Communication of Mental Health Disorders and Coping Techniques - Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patricia%20Portugal%20Marques%20de%20Carvalho%20Lourenco">Patricia Portugal Marques de Carvalho Lourenco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Money, status, beauty, popularity, widespread public adulation, glitz and glamour portray a perfumed stress-free existence yet not every rock that glitters is a gold nugget and mental disorders are not an exclusivity of middle/low societal classes. This pursuit of physical beauty as a happiness goal only detracts singularity in favour of mundaneness, sustaining the illusion that unsightly women need to undergo a physical transformation to improve their lives while handsome, wealthy men need not do anything more than altruistically accept them for who they really are inside. Five Beast and Beauty dramas were analysed for this paper. The assessment revealed that there is standardization and typecasting of Beast and Beauty roles in K-Dramas, a reflection of South Korean’s patriarchal society where women and men are continuously expected to fulfil their pre-established gender binary roles and stereotypes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K-dramas" title="K-dramas">K-dramas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beauty" title=" beauty"> beauty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20self-esteem" title=" low self-esteem"> low self-esteem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plastic%20surgery" title=" plastic surgery"> plastic surgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=South%20Korean%20stereotypes" title=" South Korean stereotypes"> South Korean stereotypes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151785/views-of-the-self-in-beast-and-beauty-k-dramas-the-south-korean-paradigm-of-beauty" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151785.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">214</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">131</span> A Path for Assistance for People With Stroke in Angola</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Louren%C3%A7o%20Jos%C3%A9">Lourenço José</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elsa%20Melo"> Elsa Melo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sandra%20Viera"> Sandra Viera</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Pinheiro"> Ana Pinheiro</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: People with stroke in Angola face challenges in accessing appropriate healthcare and rehabilitation services. A surface culture instilled with notions of belonging has redefined the meaning of friendship and challenged deep inner values. Not everyone, however, knows Chinese Dramas or their stars, which is a consequence of Dramaland's focus on Korean dramas and promoting the Korean experience. Despite a parity in terms of production quality, star power, scripts and compelling visual settings, Chinese Dramas have been playing catch up to their famous counterparts. While they might have a strong competitive soft power for international drama fans, the soft power of Korean dramas is imbued with substantial societal values that they want to share with others. Those values are portrayed in an artistic way that connects with audiences who experience loneliness in the non-virtual world contrary to the way Chinese Dramas are perceived. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20dramas" title="Chinese dramas">Chinese dramas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fandom" title=" fandom"> fandom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Korean%20dramas" title=" Korean dramas"> Korean dramas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=participatory%20culture" title=" participatory culture"> participatory culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20perception" title=" value perception"> value perception</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soft%20power" title=" soft power"> soft power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20culture" title=" surface culture"> surface culture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104538/participatory-culture-and-value-perception-amongst-the-korean-and-chinese-drama-international-fandom" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104538.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">169</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">127</span> Bibliometrics of 'Community Garden' and Associated Keywords</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guilherme%20Reis%20Ranieri">Guilherme Reis Ranieri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guilherme%20Leite%20Gaudereto"> Guilherme Leite Gaudereto</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michele%20Toledo"> Michele Toledo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luis%20Fernando%20Amato-Lourenco"> Luis Fernando Amato-Lourenco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thais%20Mauad"> Thais Mauad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Given the importance to urban sustainability and the growing relevance of the term ‘community garden’, this paper aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the term. The experiments were conducted using xanthan gum (0.6%) at 250 C and a constant rotation velocity of 0 and 800 rpm, as well as in the absence of agitation (airlift mode); the superficial gas velocity varied from 0.0157 to 0.0262 ms-1. The volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient dependence of the rotational speed revealed that the presence of agitation increased up to two times the kLa value. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aeration" title="aeration">aeration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mass%20transfer" title=" mass transfer"> mass transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-Newtonian%20fluids" title=" non-Newtonian fluids"> non-Newtonian fluids</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stirred%20airlift%20bioreactor" title=" stirred airlift bioreactor"> stirred airlift bioreactor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11943/oxygen-transfer-in-viscous-non-newtonian-liquid-in-a-hybrid-bioreactor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11943.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">460</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">125</span> Comparative Analysis of VTEC Bank of Rollers Brake Testers versus Maha, Ryme and Dynamometric Platform Testers Used at Ministry of Transport Facilities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carolina%20Senabre">Carolina Senabre</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergio%20Valero"> Sergio Valero</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emilio%20Velasco"> Emilio Velasco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research objective is to compare the differences of brake measurements obtained with the same vehicle when braking on VTEQ Ministry of Transport (MOT) brake testers versus others such as Maha, Ryme and a dynamometric platform. It collaborates with studies on organizational strategies and the monitoring of economic indicators in times of crisis, using data analysis to investigate associations between the variables studied. As a result, the economic, structural, and systemic factors that determine the resumption of activities after the pandemic are presented, as well as the results obtained and the general expectations for tourism activities in the region. The conclusion is that, even with government support, from the Brazilian authorities, the undesirable effects of the externalities of the pandemic threaten not only competitiveness but also business continuity itself. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chapada%20Diamantina" title="Chapada Diamantina">Chapada Diamantina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=competitiveness" title=" competitiveness"> competitiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=COVID-19" title=" COVID-19"> COVID-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tourism" title=" tourism"> tourism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176643/post-pandemic-challenges-for-small-businesses-in-tourism-a-case-study-in-brazil" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176643.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">120</span> An Analysis of Motorcycle Accidents in Spain (2006-2011)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francisco%20Toledo-Castillo">Francisco Toledo-Castillo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mar%C3%ADa%20Josefa%20Sospedra-Baeza"> María Josefa Sospedra-Baeza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergio%20Hidalgo-Fuentes"> Sergio Hidalgo-Fuentes</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Motorcycles constitute about 9% of all motorized vehicles in Spain and are generally overrepresented in traffic accidents, accounting for 21% of total accidents. Six years of motorcycle accident data were obtained through the national accident database of Spain (Dirección General de Tráfico). Some of the studied factors are age, gender, helmet wearing, alcohol consumption, speeding, subject’s driving license and for how long it has been held, the trip purpose, and the presence of a passenger on the vehicle. Key findings show helmet use, unsafe speed, the trip purpose, weather, distraction, collision type and other variables play significant roles in crash-injury outcomes. Four types of UASB digesters were studied made of different geometries and materials which are: a UASB IC steel 20 meters high; a circular UASB steel 6 meters high; an UASB reinforced concrete lined with geomembrane PEAB with 6 meters high; and finally a UASB plug flow comprising two UASB in serious rotomolded HDPE 6 meters high.Observed clearly that the biogas produced in the digester UASB steel H2S concentrations had values lower than the HDPE. With respect to efficiency in short time, the UASB IC showed the best results to absorb overloads, as the UASB circular steel showed an efficiency of 90% removal of the organic load. The UASB system plug flow in HDPE showed the lowest cost of deployment, and its efficiency in removing the organic load was 80%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biogas" title="biogas">biogas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=achaeas" title=" achaeas"> achaeas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UASB" title=" UASB"> UASB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brewery%20effluent" title=" Brewery effluent"> Brewery effluent</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43846/study-biogas-produced-by-strain-archaea-methanothrix-soehngenii-in-different-biodigesters-uasb-in-treating-brewery-effluent-in-brazil" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43846.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">357</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">118</span> A Brief Study on the Mental Health vs. Mental Disorders in China, Suicide and the Entertainment Media</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patricia%20Portugal%20Marques%20de%20Carvalho%20Louren%C3%A7o">Patricia Portugal Marques de Carvalho Lourenço</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mental Health, mental illnesses, and suicide are old topics made young. While broadly addressed on a global scale to various extents and degrees, mental health, mental disorders, and suicide remain to a large extent a, taboo in a number of societies such as the Chinese. The country’s report on mental health was scrutinized for an in-depth understanding of the prevalence of mental disorders domestically, emphasizing depression, which is more accentuated in rural settings than urban, affecting a significant number of students, retired individuals and that unemployed country-wise. Depression in China is linked to anxiety in younger years, both decreasing as the population grows in age. Mental health, mental disorders and suicide remain for the most part, “forgotten”, despite statistically significant and the media’s yet small efforts in educating the population about the terms i.e. through online/television dramas that approach the topics, trying to demystify them. Whereas crucial to openly address mental health, mental disorders, and suicide, the issues remain an ongoing challenge in China, where series draw light into a reality the media and the population do not broadly converse about. The media in general and the entertainment media, in particular, have a vital role in helping China acknowledge mental health, mental disorders and suicide, albeit having a long way to go in assisting the Chinese population in dealing with the health of their inner minds. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mental%20health" title="mental health">mental health</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mental%20disorders" title=" mental disorders"> mental disorders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suicide" title=" suicide"> suicide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media" title=" media"> media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=China" title=" China"> China</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20entertainment" title=" Chinese entertainment"> Chinese entertainment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148626/a-brief-study-on-the-mental-health-vs-mental-disorders-in-china-suicide-and-the-entertainment-media" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148626.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">103</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">117</span> System of Innovation: Comparing Savings of Brazil and South Africa</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Glessiane%20de%20O.%20Almeida">Glessiane de O. Findings showed that the residents of Midsayap often practice the necessary health and safety measures against COVID-19 and that the Local Government Unit of Midsayap is effective in responding to the pandemic. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=governance" title="governance">governance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20and%20safety%20practices" title=" health and safety practices"> health and safety practices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=covid-19" title=" covid-19"> covid-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local%20government%20unit" title=" local government unit"> local government unit</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145782/health-and-safety-practices-of-midsayapenos-in-relation-to-the-governance-of-the-local-government-unit-of-midsayap-in-responding-to-the-covid-19-pandemic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145782.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">176</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">115</span> Analysis of Fertilizer Effect in the Tilapia Growth of Mozambique (Oreochromis mossambicus)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S%C3%A9rgio%20Afonso%20Mulema">Sérgio Afonso Mulema</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andr%C3%A9s%20Carri%C3%B3n%20Garc%C3%ADa"> Andrés Carrión García</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vicente%20Ernesto"> Vicente Ernesto</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper analyses the effect of fertilizer (organic and inorganic) in the growth of tilapia. An experiment was implemented in the Aquapesca Company of Mozambique; there were considered four different treatments. Each type of fertilizer was applied in two of these treatments; a feed was supplied to the third treatment, and the fourth was taken as control. The weight and length of the tilapia were used as the growth parameters, and to measure the water quality, the physical-chemical parameters were registered. The results show that the weight and length were different for tilapias cultivated in different treatments. These differences were evidenced mainly by organic and feed treatments, where there was the largest and smallest value of these parameters, respectively. In order to prove that these differences were caused only by applied treatment without interference for the aquatic environment, a Fisher discriminant analysis was applied, which confirmed that the treatments were exposed to the same environment condition. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fertilizer" title="fertilizer">fertilizer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tilapia" title=" tilapia"> tilapia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth" title=" growth"> growth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=statistical%20methods" title=" statistical methods"> statistical methods</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89898/analysis-of-fertilizer-effect-in-the-tilapia-growth-of-mozambique-oreochromis-mossambicus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89898.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">114</span> A Quality Improvement Project to Assess the Impact of Orthognathic Surgery on the Quality of Life of Patients: Pre-Operatively versus Post-Operatively</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fiona%20Lourenco">Fiona Lourenco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=William%20Allen"> William Allen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Dentofacial deformities are primarily surgically treated via orthognathic surgery. Health-related quality of life is concerned with aspects of quality of life that relate specifically to an individual’s health. Design and Setting: Retrospective analysis of patients who had orthognathic surgery from January 2018 - December 2022 at the trust using the previously validated Orthognathic Quality of Life questionnaire (OQoL). Materials and Methods: 32 Patient questionnaires (which included pre-operative and post-operative separate sections) were obtained via telephone survey. The data was analysed using the two-tailed paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The change in perception post-surgery was highly significant (both tests resulted in p<0.001 for overall analysis as well as for each domain). Overall, a 74% improvement in QoL was seen following orthognathic surgery. Reports of improvement in each domain were as follows: 71% in the social aspect of the deformity domain, 76% in facial aesthetics, 60% in function, and 57% improvement in awareness of facial deformity. Conclusion: The assessment of QoL is becoming progressively imperative in clinical research. The above data shows that orthognathic surgery has a significant improvement in the QoL of patients post-operatively. The results demonstrate improvement in all domains, with perceptions in facial aesthetics seeing the highest change post-operatively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
