with some valuable context relating to the population of Iran.</p><h2>Population of Iran in 2024</h2><p>The population of Iran stood at <b>89.50 million</b> in January 2024.</p><p>Data shows that Iran’s population <b>increased</b> by <b>657 thousand</b> (+0.7 percent) between early 2023 and the start of 2024.</p><p><b>49.5 percent</b> of Iran’s population is <b>female</b>, while <b>50.5 percent</b> of the population is <b>male</b>.</p><p>At the start of 2024, <b>77.4 percent</b> of Iran’s population lived in <b>urban centres</b>, while <b>22.6 percent</b> lived in <b>rural reported values may be the result of “corrections” in the source data, as well as changes in actual user behaviour.</p><p>For clarity, <a href='https://kepios.com/?utm_source=DataReportal&utm_medium=Country_Article_Hyperlink&utm_campaign=Digital_2024&utm_term=Iran&utm_content=Kepios_Home_Link'>Kepios</a> analysis shows that social media users in Iran <b>remained unchanged</b> between early 2023 and the beginning of 2024.</p><p>The number of social media users in Iran at the start of 2024 was equivalent to <b>53.6 percent</b> of the total population, but it’s important to stress that social media users may <b>not</b> represent unique individuals (see our detailed <a
