Curriculum plays important role in the transformation of knowledge and it is crucial to build a radical transformation of the societies. From this perspective, three alternative curricula, namely, Peace Education and Conflict Resolution Education, and Peace Education and Conflict Resolution Education combined are implemented and evaluated to investigate the effects on pre-service tecahers\u0026#39; Emotional Intelligence, Self-concept, and Conflict Resolution Skills. The findings indicated that the Peace Education, Conflict Resolution Education, and the Peace Education and the Conflict Resolution Education combined curricula has significant effects on Emotional Intelligence, Self Concept and Conflict Resolution Skills. Among these three curricula, the Peace Education and Conflict Resolution Education combined has the highest effects on Emotional Intelligence, Self Concept and Conflict Resolution The current research was designed to evaluate a set of procedures for identifying a mix of peace education lessons that desirably impact on students. Three curriculum consultants were employed to review and rate more than 300 commercially available lessons in terms of the expected impact of each lesson on four psychological constructs: ethnocentrism, political efficacy, conflict resolution skills, and prosocial orientation. Subsequently, the most highly rated lessons for each construct were assembled into four curricula (units) and then field tested with a sample of 1,398 eighth through twelfth vrade students. Students were assigned to one of the curriculum groups or to a no-curriculum control group. Measures of the four psychological constructs were administered in a pre-posttest fashion. Critical thinking, political orientation (liberal-conservative) and other measures were also obtained. Results indicated that while all the psychological measures were affected by some of the lessons, curriculum consultants were unable to predict which particular measures would be affected by which particular lessons. Since well-trained and experienced curriculum consultants were unable to prectixt the impact of lessons on students, the results suggest that the outcomes of peace education instruction should be carefully evaluated. Psychologists and the emerging field of peace psychology can make a major contribution to peace education. A collaborative relationship between psychologists and peace educators is recommended with psychologists developing tools for measurement, assisting in program design and analysis, and providing theory guided peace educatir.:n content. It represents a follow-up to a recently completed study which examined these types of curricula at the high school level. The previous research established a set of educational objectives to be met by these curricula including knowledge and understanding, competencies, attitudes and values, and efficacy and outcome expectancies with regard to the principles and practice of social conflict and dispute resolution. The curriculum was developed in 2000, first employed in six pilot schools and then implemented in 112 primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as in a few schools in North America, thus far involving thousands of educators and tens of thousands of students. The curriculum is being published in nine volumes covering core aspects of peace education. This article reviews the curriculum&#39;s comprehensive and inclusive pedagogical approaches and unique conceptual formulation, which defines conflict as the absence of unity and unity as the main prerequisite for peace. The curriculum integrates insights from a wide range of disciplines on peace and education, including education, peace studies, conflict resolution, political science, law, religion, sociology, psychology and history. Within this integrative approach, each volume addresses one or more aspects of peace and peace education, drawing from the latest developments in the field and from lessons learned in the implementation of the EFP program. Peace education goals include understanding the global issues of conflicts and peace, being able to find appropriate resolutions to conflicts, and being able to manage prejudices. The Basic Education Core Curriculum (2008) of Thailand does not explicitly contain peace education, however, peace education&#39;s goals are integrated into other subjects, mostly social studies, religion, and culture. An online survey of 112 KVIS students was conducted to investigate how well students know several aspects of peace education including prejudice management (management of racism, sexism, and social dominance orientation), conflict management skills, and conflict management styles. Results showed that students have poor conflict management skills, yet their prejudice management needs improvement. As expected, most students suggested that money and status are the main criteria for social classification; the second and third most popular criteria were jobs and ability, respectively. Many students also answered that the homeless and the poor are the lowest-status groups in Thai society. Additionally, 6 males and 6 female KVIS students participated in interviews with 4 questions. Here, results showed that half of these students believe violence is needed to solve severe problems. Also, while all 12 students responded rationally and without any stereotypes to a question about Burmese worker expulsion, 4 students have a tendency to view black people as different. The researchers discuss the concept of skill development and literacy acquisition. They also examine the concept of conflict resolution strategies in consonant with school related conflicts which are capable of obscuring the degree of students&#39; skill development vis-à-vis literacy acquisition in the right direction. Furthermore, the paper assessed available mechanism for conflict resolution among parties involved in school as multidimensional skill development and literacy acquisition may not thrive in a violent and chaotic school environment. The paper equally evaluates the goals every school administrator ought to adopt in a bid to resolve conflicts meditatively without hurting the parties involved and disrupt the academic programme of the school. Conclusively, suggestions to managing peace education to promote students&#39; skills development and literacy acquisition n the right direction are proffered. Emotionai intelligence (EQ) is one element in a broad spectrum of skills that enable high school students to create value for their community and themselves. Since Salovey and Mayer&amp;#39;s (1990) seminal article on the concept, and its popularization in a social science book of the same name (Gibbs 1995; Goleman 1995), emotionai intelligence has emerged in several different models and measures. Matthews et al. (2002) outlined three contexts for the study of emotionai intelligence: psychometric, theoretical, and applied. The focus of this study is on measurement and applied use of emotionai intelligence by giving a special training as after school activities. This study was conducted at two different high schools in Turkey in which 959 students were involved. The aim of this article is to understand if education systems help development of peace processes in post-conflict settings and if the idea of implementing Peace Education into the formal curriculum could advance prospects for peace. In the paper three case studies are investigated more deeply-Japan, Germany and the South Caucasus. The article uses secondary sources to present the issue. The literature review includes academic books, articles, and official declarations of international organizations. The paper explores some considerations for learning environments suitable for peace education programs and describes selected features of two schools to illustrate the implementation of some of the characteristics of peace education. It explains that, although college offerings in peace education worldwide demonstrate the scarcity of peace education programs in mainstream educational institutions, a Web site listing colleges and universities that offer peace studies programs shows approximately 120 graduate and undergraduate programs, most of which are located in North America. The paper notes that in public schools, peace education can at best be found in the international education or conflict resolution programs designed to prevent school violence.
