All the girls (N=100) have been selected for a quantitative study, including 15 cases of in-depth interviews for qualitative study in 2013. The study results suggest that the level of psychological well-being of freed Kamhalaris has not been found to be high; rather they are moderate, with small incidences of a lower level of psychological well-being. Regarding the qualitative study, a total of six themes was identified: physical pain and fatigue then and now, the lasting experience of anxiety, unfair treatment, low self-esteem, depressed mood, and frustration due to current state and confusion. These themes reflected the unrelenting intrusive nature of painful experiences of those affected. This research will provide empathic insight into their past experience. It will add to the body of research on Psychological Well-being of Freed Kamhalari Girls and may generate ideas for intervention research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamhalari" title="Kamhalari">Kamhalari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Experiences" title=" Experiences"> Experiences</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tharu" title=" Tharu"> Tharu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Psychological%20Wellbeing" title=" Psychological Wellbeing"> Psychological Wellbeing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162248/psychological-well-being-among-the-freed-kamhalari-girls-in-dang" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162248.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">56</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">35</span> An Efficient Algorithm for Global Alignment of Protein-Protein Interaction Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duc%20Dong%20Do">Duc Dong Do</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ngoc%20Ha%20Tran"> Ngoc Ha Tran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thanh%20Hai%20Dang"> Thanh Hai Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cao%20Cuong%20Dang"> Cao Cuong Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuan%20Huan%20Hoang"> Xuan Huan Hoang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Global aligning two protein-protein interaction networks is an essentially important task in bioinformatics/computational biology field of study. It is a challenging and widely studied research topic in recent years. Accurately aligned networks allow us to identify functional modules of proteins and/ororthologous proteins from which unknown functions of a protein can be inferred. We here introduce a novel efficient heuristic global network alignment algorithm called FASTAn, including two phases: the first to construct an initial alignment and the second to improve such alignment by exerting a local optimization repeated procedure. The experimental results demonstrated that FASTAn outperformed the state-of-the-art global network alignment algorithm namely SPINAL in terms of both commonly used objective scores and the run-time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FASTAn" title="FASTAn">FASTAn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heuristic%20algorithm" title=" Heuristic algorithm"> Heuristic algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biological%20network%20alignment" title=" biological network alignment"> biological network alignment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein-protein%20interaction%20networks" title=" protein-protein interaction networks"> protein-protein interaction networks</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17228/an-efficient-algorithm-for-global-alignment-of-protein-protein-interaction-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17228.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">603</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Applying EzRAD Method for SNPs Discovery in Population Genetics of Freshwater and Marine Fish in the South of Vietnam</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quyen%20Vu%20Dang%20Ha">Quyen Vu Dang Ha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oanh%20Truong%20Thi"> Oanh Truong Thi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thuoc%20Tran%20Linh"> Thuoc Tran Linh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kent%20Carpenter"> Kent Carpenter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thinh%20Doan%20Vu"> Thinh Doan Vu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Binh%20Dang%20Thuy"> Binh Dang Thuy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Enzyme restriction site associated DNA (EzRAD) has recently emerged as a promising genomic approach for exploring fish genetic diversity on a genome-wide scale. This is a simplified method for genomic genotyping in non-model organisms and applied for SNPs discovery in the population genetics of freshwater and marine fish in the South of Vietnam. The observations of regional-scale differentiation of commercial freshwater fish (smallscale croakers Boesemania microlepis) and marine fish (emperor Lethrinus lentjan) are clarified. Samples were collected along Hau River and coastal area in the south and center Vietnam. 52 DNA samples from Tra Vinh, An Giang Province for Boesemania microlepis and 34 DNA samples of Lethrinus lentjan from Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang Province were used to prepare EzRAD libraries from genomic DNA digested with MboI and Sau3AI. A pooled sample of regional EzRAD libraries was sequenced using the HiSeq 2500 Illumina platform. For Boesemania microlepis, the small scale population different from upstream to downstream of Hau river were detected, An Giang population exhibited less genetic diversity (SNPs per individual from 14 to 926), in comparison to Tra Vinh population (from 11 to 2172). For Lethrinus lentjan, the result showed the minor difference between populations in the Northern and the Southern Mekong River. The numbers of contigs and SNPs vary from 1315 to 2455 and from 7122 to 8594, respectively (P ≤ 0.01). The current preliminary study reveals regional scale population disconnection probably reflecting environmental changing. Additional sampling and EzRad libraries need to be implemented for resource management in the Mekong Delta. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boesemania%20microlepis" title="Boesemania microlepis">Boesemania microlepis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EzRAD" title=" EzRAD"> EzRAD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lethrinus%20lentjan" title=" Lethrinus lentjan"> Lethrinus lentjan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SNPs" title=" SNPs"> SNPs</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33607/applying-ezrad-method-for-snps-discovery-in-population-genetics-of-freshwater-and-marine-fish-in-the-south-of-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33607.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">509</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">33</span> Economics of Sugandhakokila (Cinnamomum Glaucescens (Nees) Dury) in Dang District of Nepal: A Value Chain Perspective </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Keshav%20Raj%20Acharya">Keshav Raj Acharya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prabina%20Sharma"> Prabina Sharma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sugandhakokila (Cinnamomum glaucescens Nees. Dury) is a large evergreen native tree species; mostly confined naturally in mid-hills of Rapti Zone of Nepal. The species is identified as prioritized for agro-technology development as well as for research and development by a department of plant resources. This species is band for export outside the country without processing by the government of Nepal to encourage the value addition within the country. The present study was carried out in Chillikot village of Dang district to find out the economic contribution of C. glaucescens in the local economy and to document the major conservation threats for this species. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools such as Household survey, key informants interviews and focus group discussions were carried out to collect the data. The present study reveals that about 1.7 million Nepalese rupees (NPR) have been contributed annually in the local economy of 29 households from the collection of C. glaucescens berries in the study area. The average annual income of each family was around NPR 67,165.38 (US$ 569.19) from the sale of the berries which contributes about 53% of the total household income. Six different value chain actors are involved in C. glaucescens business. Maximum profit margin was taken by collector followed by producer, exporter and processor. The profit margin was found minimum to regional and village traders. The total profit margin for producers was NPR 138.86/kg, and regional traders have gained NPR 17/kg. However, there is a possibility to increase the profit of producers by NPR 8.00 more for each kg of berries through the initiation of community forest user group and village cooperatives in the area. Open access resource, infestation by an insect to over matured trees and browsing by goats were identified as major conservation threats for this species. Handing over the national forest as a community forest, linking the producers with the processor through organized market channel and replacing the old tree through new plantation has been recommended for future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=community%20forest" title="community forest">community forest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conservation%20threats" title=" conservation threats"> conservation threats</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20glaucescens" title=" C. glaucescens"> C. glaucescens</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20chain%20analysis" title=" value chain analysis"> value chain analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105084/economics-of-sugandhakokila-cinnamomum-glaucescens-nees-dury-in-dang-district-of-nepal-a-value-chain-perspective" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105084.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Numerical Simulation for Self-Loosening Phenomenon Analysis of Bolt Joint under Vibration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Long%20Kim%20Vu">Long Kim Vu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ban%20Dang%20Nguyen"> Ban Dang Nguyen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, the finite element method (FEM) is utilized to simulate the comprehensive process including tightening, releasing and self-loosening of a bolt joint under transverse vibration. The objective is to understand the relationship between the good characteristic of movie audiences and their perception of the good characteristic of a movie character. One-hundred students from various age ranges responded to quantitative questionnaires. The questions included their age, gender, perception about their own personal traits, perception about their experiences with others, and perception about the bravery, intelligence, and gratefulness of the character. It was found that a good personal trait has a strong relationship with the perception of bravery, intelligence, and gratefulness of the character. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20of%20media" title="impact of media">impact of media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children" title=" children"> children</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personal%20trait" title=" personal trait"> personal trait</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prosocial%20content" title=" prosocial content"> prosocial content</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55734/the-effect-of-prior-characteristic-on-perceived-prosocial-content-in-media" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55734.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">27</span> Speed Control of Brushless DC Motor Using PI Controller in MATLAB Simulink</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Do%20Chi%20Thanh">Do Chi Thanh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20Ngoc%20Huy"> Dang Ngoc Huy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, there are more and more variable speed drive systems in small-scale and large-scale applications such as the electric vehicle industry, household appliances, medical equipment, and other industrial fields led to the development of BLDC (Brushless DC) motors. BLDC drive has many advantages, such as higher efficiency, better speed torque characteristics, high power density, and low maintenance cost compared to other conventional motors. Most BLDC motors use a proportional-integral (PI) controller and a pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme for speed control. This article describes the simulation model of BLDC motor drive control with the help of MATLAB - SIMULINK simulation software. The built simulation model includes a BLDC motor dynamic block, Hall sensor signal generation block, inverter converter block, and PI controller. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brushless%20DC%20motor" title="brushless DC motor">brushless DC motor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BLDC" title=" BLDC"> BLDC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=six-step%20inverter" title=" six-step inverter"> six-step inverter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PI%20speed" title=" PI speed"> PI speed</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179369/speed-control-of-brushless-dc-motor-using-pi-controller-in-matlab-simulink" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179369.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">74</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Low-Level Modeling for Optimal Train Routing and Scheduling in Busy Railway Stations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quoc%20Khanh%20Dang">Quoc Khanh Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thomas%20Bourdeaud%E2%80%99huy"> Thomas Bourdeaud’huy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20Mesghouni"> Khaled Mesghouni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armand%20Toguy%C2%B4eni"> Armand Toguy´eni</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper studies a train routing and scheduling problem for busy railway stations. Our objective is to allow trains to be routed in dense areas that are reaching saturation. Unlike traditional methods that allocate all resources to setup a route for a train and until the route is freed, our work focuses on the use of resources as trains progress through the railway node. This technique allows a larger number of trains to be routed simultaneously in a railway node and thus reduces their current saturation. To deal with this problem, this study proposes an abstract model and a mixed-integer linear programming formulation to solve it. The applicability of our method is illustrated on a didactic example. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=busy%20railway%20stations" title="busy railway stations">busy railway stations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed-integer%20linear%20programming" title=" mixed-integer linear programming"> mixed-integer linear programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=offline%20railway%20station%20management" title=" offline railway station management"> offline railway station management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=train%20platforming" title=" train platforming"> train platforming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=train%20routing" title=" train routing"> train routing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=train%20scheduling" title=" train scheduling"> train scheduling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108783/low-level-modeling-for-optimal-train-routing-and-scheduling-in-busy-railway-stations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108783.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">253</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Intelligent Swarm-Finding in Formation Control of Multi-Robots to Track a Moving Target</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anh%20Duc%20Dang">Anh Duc Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joachim%20Horn"> Joachim Horn</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a new approach to control robots, which can quickly find their swarm while tracking a moving target through the obstacles of the environment. In this approach, an artificial potential field is generated between each free-robot and the virtual attractive point of the swarm. This artificial potential field will lead free-robots to their swarm. The swarm-finding of these free-robots dose not influence the general motion of their swarm and nor other robots. When one singular robot approaches the swarm then its swarm-search will finish, and it will further participate with its swarm to reach the position of the target. The connections between member-robots with their neighbours are controlled by the artificial attractive/repulsive force field between them to avoid collisions and keep the constant distances between them in ordered formation. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been verified in simulations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formation%20control" title="formation control">formation control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=potential%20field%20method" title=" potential field method"> potential field method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obstacle%20avoidance" title=" obstacle avoidance"> obstacle avoidance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swarm%20intelligence" title=" swarm intelligence"> swarm intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-agent%20systems" title=" multi-agent systems"> multi-agent systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3582/intelligent-swarm-finding-in-formation-control-of-multi-robots-to-track-a-moving-target" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3582.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">440</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Implementation of Cloud Customer Relationship Management in Banking Sector: Strategies, Benefits and Challenges</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ngoc%20Dang%20Khoa%20Nguyen">Ngoc Dang Khoa Nguyen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imran%20Ali"> Imran Ali</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The cloud customer relationship management (CRM) has emerged as an innovative tool to augment the customer satisfaction and performance of banking systems. Cloud CRM allows to collect, analyze and utilize customer-associated information and update the systems, thereby offer superior customer service. Cloud technologies have invaluable potential to ensure innovative customer experiences, successful collaboration, enhanced speed to marketplace and IT effectiveness. As such, many leading banks have been attracted towards adoption of such innovative and customer-driver solutions to revolutionize their existing business models. Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are already implemented or in the process of implementation of cloud CRM. However, many organizations are still reluctant to take such initiative due to the lack of information on the factors influencing its implementation. This paper, therefore, aims to delve into the strategies, benefits and challenges intertwined in the implementation of Cloud CRM in banking sector and provide reliable solutions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=banking%20sector" title="banking sector">banking sector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20computing" title=" cloud computing"> cloud computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20CRM" title=" cloud CRM"> cloud CRM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strategy" title=" strategy"> strategy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134042/implementation-of-cloud-customer-relationship-management-in-banking-sector-strategies-benefits-and-challenges" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134042.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">166</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Stock Market Developments, Income Inequality, Wealth Inequality</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quang%20Dong%20Dang">Quang Dong Dang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper examines the possible effects of stock market developments by channels on income and wealth inequality. We found that generally, the improvements in the stock market alleviate income inequality. However, stock market expansions in higher-income countries are likely to trigger income inequality. We also found that while enhancing the quality of channels of the stock market has counter-effects on wealth equality distributions, open accessibilities help reduce wealth inequality distributions within the scope of the study. The promising concept of self-propelled intelligent robotic vehicle (SPIRV) based on octahedral dodekapod for inspection and operation in active branched pipelines with variable cross-sections is reasoned. SPIRV is able to move in pipeline, regardless of its spatial orientation. SPIRV can also be used to move along the outside of the pipelines as well as in space between surfaces of annular tubes. Every one of faces of the octahedral dodekapod can clamp/unclamp a thing with a closed loop surface of various forms as well as put pressure on environmental surface of contact. These properties open new possibilities for its applications in SPIRV. We examine design principles of octahedral dodekapod as future intelligent building blocks for various robotic vehicles that can self-move and self-reconfigure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Modular%20robot" title="Modular robot">Modular robot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=octahedral%20dodekapod" title=" octahedral dodekapod"> octahedral dodekapod</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pipe%20inspection%20robot" title=" pipe inspection robot"> pipe inspection robot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20parallel%20structure" title=" spatial parallel structure"> spatial parallel structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32718/self-propelled-intelligent-robotic-vehicle-based-on-octahedral-dodekapod-to-move-in-active-branched-pipelines-with-variable-cross-sections" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32718.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">501</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> An Investigation on Designing and Enhancing the Performance of H-Darrieus Wind Turbine of 10KW at the Medium Range of Wind Speed in Vietnam</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ich%20Long%20Ngo">Ich Long Ngo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dinh%20Tai%20Dang"> Dinh Tai Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ngoc%20Tu%20Nguyen"> Ngoc Tu Nguyen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minh%20Duc%20Nguyen"> Minh Duc Nguyen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper describes an investigation on designing and enhancing the performance of H-Darrieus wind turbine (HDWT) of 10kW at the medium wind speed. The aerodynamic characteristics of this turbine were investigated by both theoretical and numerical approaches. The optimal design procedure was first proposed to enhance the power coefficient under various effects, such as airfoil type, number of blades, solidity, aspect ratio, and tip speed ratio. As a result, the overall design of the 10kW HDWT was well achieved, and the power characteristic of this turbine was found by numerical approach. Additionally, the maximum power coefficient predicted is up to 0.41 at the tip speed ratio of 3.7 and wind speed of 8 m/s. Particularly, a generalized correlation of power coefficient with tip speed ratio and wind speed is first proposed. These results obtained are very useful for enhancing the performance of the HDWTs placed in a country with high wind power potential like Vietnam. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20fluid%20dynamics" title="computational fluid dynamics">computational fluid dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=double%20multiple%20stream%20tube" title=" double multiple stream tube"> double multiple stream tube</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=h-darrieus%20wind%20turbine" title=" h-darrieus wind turbine"> h-darrieus wind turbine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renewable%20energy" title=" renewable energy"> renewable energy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163982/an-investigation-on-designing-and-enhancing-the-performance-of-h-darrieus-wind-turbine-of-10kw-at-the-medium-range-of-wind-speed-in-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163982.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Effects of Rice Plant Extracts and Phenolic Allelochemicals on Seedling Growth of Radish</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Shamim%20Hasan%20Mandal">Mohammad Shamim Hasan Mandal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Phu%20Minh"> Phu Minh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Do%20Tan%20%20Khang"> Do Tan Khang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Phung%20Thi%20Tuyen"> Phung Thi Tuyen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tran%20Dang%20Xuan"> Tran Dang Xuan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the major crops of Vietnam which has more than thousands of varieties. Many of the local varieties have greater potentiality but they are in danger of extinct. Rice plant contains many secondary metabolites that are allelopathic to other plants. Seven rice varieties were cultivated in the field condition at Hiroshima University, Japan; stems and leaves from each variety were collected later, they were extracted with methanol, hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol, and water. Total phenolic content and total flavonoid contents were high in ethyl acetate extracts. DPPH antioxidant assay results showed that the ethyl acetate extracts had the higher IC50 value. Therefore, the ethyl acetate extracts were selected for laboratory experimentation through petri dish assay. Results showed that the two-local variety Re nuoc and Nan chon completely inhibited the germination of radish seedlings. Pervious concrete allows water to infiltrate through the pavement, thereby reducing the runoff and the requirement for stormwater management systems. Seashell By-Products (SBP) are produced in an important quantity in France and are considered as waste. This work investigated to use SBP in pervious concrete and produce an even more environmentally friendly product, Pervious Concrete Pavers. The research methodology involved substituting the coarse aggregate in the previous concrete mix design with 20%, 40% and 60% SBP. The testing showed that pervious concrete containing less than 40% SBP had strengths, permeability and void content which are comparable to the pervious concrete containing with only natural aggregate. The samples that contained 40% SBP or higher had a significant loss in strength and an increase in permeability and a void content from the control mix pervious concrete. On the basis of the results in this research, it was found that the natural aggregate can be substituted by SBP without affecting the delicate balance of a pervious concrete mix. Additional, it is recommended that the optimum replacement percentage for SBP in pervious concrete is 40 % direct replacement of natural coarse aggregate while maintaining the structural performance and drainage capabilities of the pervious concrete. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seashell%20by-products" title="seashell by-products">seashell by-products</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pervious%20concrete%20pavers" title=" pervious concrete pavers"> pervious concrete pavers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=permeability" title=" permeability"> permeability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20strength" title=" mechanical strength"> mechanical strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1640/the-use-of-seashell-by-products-in-pervious-concrete-pavers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1640.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">483</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> Phylogenetic Relationships of Common Reef Fish Species in Vietnam</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20Thuy%20Binh">Dang Thuy Binh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Truong%20Thi%20Oanh"> Truong Thi Oanh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Le%20Phan%20Khanh%20Hung"> Le Phan Khanh Hung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luong%20thi%20Tuong%20Vy"> Luong thi Tuong Vy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the greatest environmental challenges facing Asia is the management and conservation of the marine biodiversity threaten by fisheries overexploitation, pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. To date, a few molecular taxonomical studies has been conducted on marine fauna in Vietnam. The purpose of this study was to clarify the phylogeny of economic and ecological reef fish species in Vietnam Reef fish species covering Labridae, Scaridae, Nemipteridae, Serranidae, Acanthuridae, Lutjanidae, Lethrinidae, Mullidae, Balistidae, Pseudochromidae, Pinguipedidae, Fistulariidae, Holocentridae, Synodontidae, and Pomacentridae representing 28 genera were collected from South and Center, Vietnam. Combine with Genbank sequences, a phylogenetic tree was constructed based on 16S gene of mitochondrial DNA using maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian inference approaches. The phylogram showed the well-resolved clades at genus and family level. Perciformes is the major order of reef fish species in Vietnam. The monophyly of Perciformes is not strongly supported as it was clustered in the same clade with Tetraodontiformes syngnathiformes and Beryciformes. Continue sampling of commercial fish species and classification based on morphology and genetics to build DNA barcoding of fish species in Vietnam is really necessary. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reef%20fish" title="reef fish">reef fish</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=16s%20rDNA" title=" 16s rDNA"> 16s rDNA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vietnam" title=" Vietnam"> Vietnam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phylogeny" title=" phylogeny"> phylogeny</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33651/phylogenetic-relationships-of-common-reef-fish-species-in-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33651.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">438</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Hall Coefficient in the Presence of Strong Electromagnetic Waves Caused by Confined Electrons and Phonons in a Rectangular Quantum Wire</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nguyen%20Quang%20Bau">Nguyen Quang Bau</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nguyen%20Thu%20Huong"> Nguyen Thu Huong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20Thi%20Thanh%20Thuy"> Dang Thi Thanh Thuy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The analytic expression for the Hall Coefficient (HC) caused by the confined electrons in the presence of a strong electromagnetic wave (EMW) including the effect of phonon confinement in rectangular quantum wires (RQWs) is calculated by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons in the case of electron - optical phonon scattering. It is because the expression of the HC for the confined phonon case contains indexes m, m&rsquo; which are specific to the phonon confinement. The expression in a RQW is different from that for the case of unconfined phonons in a RQW or in 2D. The results are numerically calculated and discussed for a GaAs/GaAsAl RQW. The numerical results show that HC in a RQW can have both negative and positive values. This is different from the case of the absence of EMW and the case presence of EMW including the effect of phonon unconfinement in a RQW. These results are also compared with those in the case of unconfined phonons in a RQW and confined phonons in a quantum well. The conductivity in the case of confined phonon has more resonance peaks compared with that in case of unconfined phonons in a RQW. This new property is the same in quantum well. All results are compared with the case of unconfined phonons to see differences. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hall%20coefficient" title="Hall coefficient">Hall coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20quantum%20wires" title=" rectangular quantum wires"> rectangular quantum wires</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electron-optical%20phonon%20interaction" title=" electron-optical phonon interaction"> electron-optical phonon interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20kinetic%20equation" title=" quantum kinetic equation"> quantum kinetic equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confined%20phonons" title=" confined phonons"> confined phonons</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53789/hall-coefficient-in-the-presence-of-strong-electromagnetic-waves-caused-by-confined-electrons-and-phonons-in-a-rectangular-quantum-wire" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53789.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">280</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Variation of Phytoplankton Biomass in the East China Sea Based on MODIS Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yumei%20Wu">Yumei Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaoyan%20Dang"> Xiaoyan Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shenglong%20Yang"> Shenglong Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shengmao%20Zhang"> Shengmao Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The East China Sea is one of four main seas in China, where there are many fishery resources. Some important fishing grounds, such as Zhousan fishing ground important to society. But the eco-environment is destroyed seriously due to the rapid developing of industry and economy these years. In this paper, about twenty-year satellite data from MODIS and the statistical information of marine environment from the China marine environmental quality bulletin were applied to do the research. The chlorophyll-a concentration data from MODIS were dealt with in the East China Sea and then used to analyze the features and variations of plankton biomass in recent years. The statistics method was used to obtain their spatial and temporal features. The plankton biomass in the Yangtze River estuary and the Taizhou region were highest. The high phytoplankton biomass usually appeared between the 88th day to the 240th day (end-March - August). In the peak time of phytoplankton blooms, the Taizhou islands was the earliest, and the South China Sea was the latest. The intensity and period of phytoplankton blooms were connected with the global climate change. This work give us confidence to use satellite data to do more researches about the China Sea, and it also provides some help for us to know about the eco-environmental variation of the East China Sea and regional effect from global climate change. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20East%20China%20Sea" title="the East China Sea">the East China Sea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phytoplankton%20biomass" title=" phytoplankton biomass"> phytoplankton biomass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temporal%20and%20spatial%20variation" title=" temporal and spatial variation"> temporal and spatial variation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phytoplankton%20bloom" title=" phytoplankton bloom"> phytoplankton bloom</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63969/variation-of-phytoplankton-biomass-in-the-east-china-sea-based-on-modis-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63969.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">329</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> GeneNet: Temporal Graph Data Visualization for Gene Nomenclature and Relationships</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jake%20Gonzalez">Jake Gonzalez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tommy%20Dang"> Tommy Dang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes a temporal graph approach to visualize and analyze the evolution of gene relationships and nomenclature over time. An interactive web-based tool implements this temporal graph, enabling researchers to traverse a timeline and observe coupled dynamics in network topology and naming conventions. Analysis of a real human genomic dataset reveals the emergence of densely interconnected functional modules over time, representing groups of genes involved in key biological processes. For example, the antimicrobial peptide DEFA1A3 shows increased connections to related alpha-defensins involved in infection response. Tracking degree and betweenness centrality shifts over timeline iterations also quantitatively highlight the reprioritization of certain genes’ topological importance as knowledge advances. Examination of the CNR1 gene encoding the cannabinoid receptor CB1 demonstrates changing synonymous relationships and consolidating naming patterns over time, reflecting its unique functional role discovery. The integrated framework interconnecting these topological and nomenclature dynamics provides richer contextual insights compared to isolated analysis methods. Overall, this temporal graph approach enables a more holistic study of knowledge evolution to elucidate complex biology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temporal%20graph" title="temporal graph">temporal graph</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gene%20relationships" title=" gene relationships"> gene relationships</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nomenclature%20evolution" title=" nomenclature evolution"> nomenclature evolution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interactive%20visualization" title=" interactive visualization"> interactive visualization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biological%20insights" title=" biological insights"> biological insights</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179111/genenet-temporal-graph-data-visualization-for-gene-nomenclature-and-relationships" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179111.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">61</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Ethnobotanical Study of Medicinal Plants Used by Indigenous People of Community Forest User Groups of Parbat District, Nepal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gokul%20Gaudel">Gokul Gaudel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhang%20Wen%20Hui"> Zhang Wen Hui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20Quang%20Hung"> Dang Quang Hung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Le%20Thi%20Hien"> Le Thi Hien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20Xiao"> Liang Xiao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The community forests of Nepal serve as a major source of medicinal plants for majority of local people who are dependent on traditional health care system. This study aims to explore the ethnobotanical information of the medicinal plants used by five different community forest user groups of Parbat district of Nepal. The research was conducted during different periods of the year 2015, using semi-structured, open-ended questionnaires, formal and informal interviews, and group discussions. In total 145 different plant species within 77 families were documented, the majority of them being herb were found to be used to treat 84 different ailments. In terms of plant parts use: whole plants, barks, fruits, leaves were found to be in top priorities. Oral administration was the dominant route (57%), followed by both oral and dermal route (29%) and dermal only (14%). Females were found to have 24% more ethnobotanical knowledge than male. The knowledge of ethnobotanical medicinal plants was found excellent on age group 65-75. This study showed that community forests of Parbat district are rich in medicinal plants but the new generation was found less interested in using them. Easy access to modern medicines, lack of documentation and knowledge transfer to young generations are the major causes of diminishing utility of traditional medicinal practices. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ailments" title="ailments">ailments</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=community%20forest" title=" community forest"> community forest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethnobotany" title=" ethnobotany"> ethnobotany</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medicinal%20plants" title=" medicinal plants"> medicinal plants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parbat" title=" Parbat"> Parbat</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48675/ethnobotanical-study-of-medicinal-plants-used-by-indigenous-people-of-community-forest-user-groups-of-parbat-district-nepal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48675.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">286</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> An Experimental Study of Low Concentration CO₂ Capture from Regenerative Thermal Oxidation Tail Gas in Rotating Packed Bed</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20HuynhMinhTam">Dang HuynhMinhTam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuang-Cong%20Lu"> Kuang-Cong Lu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Hung%20Chen"> Yi-Hung Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhung-Yu%20Lin"> Zhung-Yu Lin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Siang%20Cheng"> Cheng-Siang Cheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology become a predominant technique to mitigate carbon dioxide and achieve net-zero emissions goals. This research targets to continuously capture the low concentration CO₂ from the tail gas of the regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) in the high technology industry. A rotating packed bed (RPB) reactor is investigated to capture the efficiency of CO₂ using a mixture of NaOH/Na₂CO₃ solutions to simulate the real absorbed solution. On a lab scale, semi-batch experiments of continuous gas flow and circulating absorbent solution are conducted to find the optimal parameters and are then examined in a continuous operation. In the semi-batch tests, the carbon capture efficiency and pH variation in the conditions of a low concentration CO₂ (about 1.13 vol%), the NaOH concentration of 1 wt% or 2 wt% mixed with 14 wt% Na₂CO₃, the rotating speed (600, 900, 1200 rpm), the gas-liquid ratio (100, 200, and 400), and the temperature of absorbent solution of 40 ºC are studied. The CO₂ capture efficiency significantly increases with higher rotating speed and smaller gas-liquid ratio, respectively, while the difference between the NaOH concentration of 1 wt% and 2 wt% is relatively small. The maximum capture efficiency is close to 80% in the conditions of the NaOH concentration of 1 wt%, the G/L ratio of 100, and the rotating speed of 1200 rpm within the first 5 minutes. Furthermore, the continuous operation based on similar conditions also demonstrates the steady efficiency of the carbon capture of around 80%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20dioxide%20capture" title="carbon dioxide capture">carbon dioxide capture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regenerative%20thermal%20oxidizer" title=" regenerative thermal oxidizer"> regenerative thermal oxidizer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotating%20packed%20bed" title=" rotating packed bed"> rotating packed bed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sodium%20hydroxide" title=" sodium hydroxide"> sodium hydroxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182235/an-experimental-study-of-low-concentration-co2-capture-from-regenerative-thermal-oxidation-tail-gas-in-rotating-packed-bed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182235.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">60</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Antimicrobial Evaluation of Polyphenon 60 and Ciprofloxacin Loaded Nano Emulsion against Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Bacteria and Its in vivo Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atinderpal%20Kaur">Atinderpal Kaur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shweta%20Dang"> Shweta Dang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Our aim is to develop a nanoemulsion-based delivery system containing polyphenon 60 (P60) and ciprofloxacin (Cipro) for intravaginal delivery to treat urinary tract infection. In the present study Polyphenon 60 (P60) and ciprofloxacin (Cipro) were loaded in a single nano emulsion (NE) system via ultra-sonication technique and characterized for particle size, in vitro release and antibacterial efficacy against Bcl-2 level Escherichia coli bacteria. To determine in vivo pharmacokinetic parameters and intravaginal transportation of NE, gamma scintigraphy and biodistribution study was conducted by radiolabelling NE with technetium pertechnetate (99mTc). The preliminary antibacterial investigation showed synergy between these compounds with FICindex of 0.42. The developed formulation showed zeta potential +55.3 and particle size of 151.7 nm, with PDI of 0.196. The in vitro release percentage of P60 at the end of 7th hours was 94.8 ± 0.9 % whereas the release for Cipro was 75.1± 0.15 % in simulated vaginal media. MBC was identified and the findings demonstrated that in both ESBL (Extended Spectrum β- lactamase) and MBL (Metallo β- lactamase) cultures the P60+Cipro NE showed inhibition of growth of all the isolates at 2 mg/ml dilutions. The percentage per gram of radiolabelled drug was found (3.50±0.26) and (3.81±0.30) in kidney and urinary bladder, respectively at 3 h. However, the optimal lung-protective ventilatory strategy remains unclear. Methods: Multiple databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published prior to October 2023. The association between individual PEEP (iPEEP) or other forms of lung-protective ventilation and the incidence of PPCs was evaluated by Bayesian network meta-analysis. Results: We included 58 studies (11610 patients) in this meta-analysis. The network meta-analysis showed that low ventilation (LVt) combined with iPEEP and RM was associated with significantly lower incidences of PPCs [HVt: OR=0.38 95CrI (0.19, 0.75), LVt: OR=0.33, 95% CrI (0.12, 0.82)], postoperative atelectasis, and pneumonia than was HVt or LVt. In abdominal surgery, LVT combined with iPEEP or medium-to-high PEEP and RM were associated with significantly lower incidences of PPCs, postoperative atelectasis, and pneumonia. LVt combined with iPEEP and RM was ranked the highest, which was based on SUCRA scores. Conclusion: LVt combined with iPEEP and RM decreased the incidences of PPCs, postoperative atelectasis, and pneumonia in noncardiac surgery patients. iPEEP-guided ventilation was the optimal lung protection ventilation strategy. The quality of evidence was moderate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protection%20ventilation%20strategies" title="protection ventilation strategies">protection ventilation strategies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=postoperative%20pulmonary%20complications" title=" postoperative pulmonary complications"> postoperative pulmonary complications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network%20meta-analysis" title=" network meta-analysis"> network meta-analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noncardiac%20surgery" title=" noncardiac surgery"> noncardiac surgery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186731/effects-of-lung-protection-ventilation-strategies-on-postoperative-pulmonary-complications-after-noncardiac-surgery-a-network-meta-analysis-of-randomized-controlled-trials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186731.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">35</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Effect of Surfactant Level of Microemulsions and Nanoemulsions on Cell Viability</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sonal%20Gupta">Sonal Gupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rakhi%20Bansal"> Rakhi Bansal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javed%20Ali"> Javed Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reema%20Gabrani"> Reema Gabrani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shweta%20Dang"> Shweta Dang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nanoemulsions (NEs) and microemulsions (MEs) have been an attractive tool for encapsulation of both hydrophilic and lipophillic actives. The tetrazolium dye, 3-(4,5-dimethylthia/ol-2-yl)-2,5-diphi-iiyltclrazolium bromide (MTT), is reduced by live cells and this reaction is used as the end point to evaluate the cytoxicity level of a test formulation. Results of MTT assay indicated that oil at different percentages exhibited almost equal cell viability (oilME ≅ oilNE) while surfactant mixture had a significant difference in the cell viability values (SmixME < SmixNE). Polyphenon 60 loaded ME and its PlaceboME showed higher toxicity as compared to Polyphenon 60 loaded NE and its PlaceboNE that can be attributed to the higher concentration of surfactants present in MEs. Another probable reason for high % cell viability of Polyphenon 60 loaded NE might be due to the effective release of Polyphenon 60 from NE formulation that helps in the sustenance of Vero cells. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cell%20viability" title="cell viability">cell viability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microemulsion" title=" microemulsion"> microemulsion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MTT" title=" MTT"> MTT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoemulsion" title=" nanoemulsion"> nanoemulsion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surfactants" title=" surfactants"> surfactants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasonication" title=" ultrasonication"> ultrasonication</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14115/effect-of-surfactant-level-of-microemulsions-and-nanoemulsions-on-cell-viability" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14115.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">436</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> The Antibacterial and Anticancer Activity of Marine Actinomycete Strain HP411 Isolated in the Northern Coast of Vietnam</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huyen%20T.%20Pham">Huyen T. Therefore, actinomycete strains were screened from marine water and sediment samples collected from the coastal areas of Northern Vietnam. Ninety-nine actinomycete strains were obtained on starch-casein agar media by dilution technique, only seven strains, named HP112, HP12, HP411, HPN11, HP 11, HPT13 and HPX12, showed significant antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Staphylococcus epidemidis ATCC 12228, Escherichia coli ATCC 11105). Further studies were carried out with the most active HP411strain against Candida albicans ATCC 10231. This strain could grow rapidly on starch casein agar and other media with high salt containing 7-10% NaCl at 28-30oC. Spore-chain of HP411 showed an elongated and circular shape with 10 to 30 spores/chain. Identification of the strain was carried out by employing the taxonomical studies including the 16S rRNA sequence. Based on phylogenetic and phenotypic evidence it is proposed that HP411 to be belongs to species Streptomyces variabilis. The potent of the crude extract of fermentation broth of HP411that are effective against wide range of pathogens: both gram-positive, gram-negative and fungi. Further studies revealed that the crude extract HP411 could obtain the anticancer activity for cancer cell lines: Hep-G2 (liver cancer cell line); RD (cardiac and skeletal muscle letters cell line); FL (membrane of the uterus cancer cell line). However, the actinomycetes from marine ecosystem will be useful for the discovery of new drugs in the furture. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marine%20actinomycetes" title="marine actinomycetes">marine actinomycetes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antibacterial" title=" antibacterial"> antibacterial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anticancer" title=" anticancer"> anticancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Streptomyces%20variabilis" title=" Streptomyces variabilis"> Streptomyces variabilis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16783/the-antibacterial-and-anticancer-activity-of-marine-actinomycete-strain-hp411-isolated-in-the-northern-coast-of-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16783.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">419</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> DNA Methylation Changes in Response to Ocean Acidification at the Time of Larval Metamorphosis in the Edible Oyster, Crassostrea hongkongensis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-Kian%20Lim">Yong-Kian Lim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khan%20Cheung"> Khan Cheung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xin%20Dang"> Xin Dang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Steven%20Roberts"> Steven Roberts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaotong%20Wang"> Xiaotong Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vengatesen%20Thiyagarajan"> Vengatesen Thiyagarajan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Unprecedented rate of increased CO₂ level in the ocean and the subsequent changes in carbonate system including decreased pH, known as ocean acidification (OA), is predicted to disrupt not only the calcification process but also several other physiological and developmental processes in a variety of marine organisms, including edible oysters. Nonetheless, not all species are vulnerable to those OA threats, e.g., some species may be able to cope with OA stress using environmentally induced modifications on gene and protein expressions. For example, external environmental stressors, including OA, can influence the addition and removal of methyl groups through epigenetic modification (e.g., DNA methylation) process to turn gene expression “on or off” as part of a rapid adaptive mechanism to cope with OA. In this study, the above hypothesis was tested through testing the effect of OA, using decreased pH 7.4 as a proxy, on the DNA methylation pattern of an endemic and a commercially important estuary oyster species, Crassostrea hongkongensis, at the time of larval habitat selection and metamorphosis. Larval growth rate did not differ between control pH 8.1 and treatment pH 7.4. The metamorphosis rate of the pediveliger larvae was higher at pH 7.4 than those in control pH 8.1; however, over one-third of the larvae raised at pH 7.4 failed to attach to an optimal substrate as defined by biofilm presence. During larval development, a total of 130 genes were differentially methylated across the two treatments. The differential methylation in the larval genes may have partially accounted for the higher metamorphosis success rate under decreased pH 7.4 but with poor substratum selection ability. Differentially methylated loci were concentrated in the exon regions and appear to be associated with cytoskeletal and signal transduction, oxidative stress, metabolic processes, and larval metamorphosis, which implies the high potential of C. hongkongensis larvae to acclimate and adapt through non-genetic ways to OA threats within a single generation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptive%20plasticity" title="adaptive plasticity">adaptive plasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA%20methylation" title=" DNA methylation"> DNA methylation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=larval%20metamorphosis" title=" larval metamorphosis"> larval metamorphosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ocean%20acidification" title=" ocean acidification"> ocean acidification</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130828/dna-methylation-changes-in-response-to-ocean-acidification-at-the-time-of-larval-metamorphosis-in-the-edible-oyster-crassostrea-hongkongensis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130828.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <ul class="pagination"> <li class="page-item disabled"><span class="page-link">&lsaquo;</span></li> <li class="page-item active"><span class="page-link">1</span></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hy%20Dang&amp;page=2">2</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hy%20Dang&amp;page=2" rel="next">&rsaquo;</a></li> </ul> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
