Send<MH7971> them away<MH7971> from My presence<MH6440> and have them go<MH3318>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>And it shall be that when<MH3588> they say<MH559> to you, ‘Where<MH575> should we go<MH3318>?’ then you are to tell<MH559> them, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: <p class="indent1stline">“Those <i>destined</i> for death<MH4194>, to death<MH4194>; <t><p class="indent1">And those <i>destined</i> for the sword<MH2719>, to the sword<MH2719>; <t><p class="indent1">And those <i>destined</i> for famine<MH7458>, to famine<MH7458>; <t><p class="indent1">And those <i>destined</i> for captivity<MH7628b>, to captivity<MH7628b>.”’ <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And I will appoint<MH6485> over<MH5921> them four<MH702> kinds<MH4940> <i>of doom,</i>” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>: “the sword<MH2719> to kill<MH2026>, the dogs<MH3611> to drag<MH5498> away<MH5498>, and the birds<MH5775> of the sky<MH8064> and the animals<MH929> of the earth<MH776> to devour<MH398> and destroy<MH7843>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>I will make<MH5414> them an object<MH2113> of<MH2113> terror<MH2113> among all<MH3605> the kingdoms<MH4467> of the earth<MH776> because<MH1558> of Manasseh<MH4519>, the son<MH1121> of Hezekiah<MH2396>, the king<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063>, for what<MH834> he did<MH6213a> in Jerusalem<MH3389>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>“Indeed<MH3588>, who<MH4310> will have<MH2550> pity<MH2550> on you, Jerusalem<MH3389>, <t><p class="indent1">Or who<MH4310> will mourn<MH5110> for you, <t><p class="indent1">Or who<MH4310> will turn<MH5493> aside<MH5493> to ask<MH7592> about your welfare<MH7965>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>“You who have forsaken<MH5203> Me,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, <p class="indent1stline">“You keep going<MH1980> backward<MH268>. <t><p class="indent1">So I will stretch<MH5186> out<MH5186> My hand<MH3027> against<MH5921> you and destroy<MH7843> you; <t><p class="indent1">I am<MH3811> tired<MH3811> of relenting<MH5162>! <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“I will winnow<MH2219> them with a winnowing<MH4214> fork<MH4214> <t><p class="indent1">At the gates<MH8179> of the land<MH776>; <t><p class="indent1">I will bereave<MH7921> <i>them</i> of<MH7921> children<MH7921>, I will destroy<MH6> My people<MH5971a>; <t><p class="indent1">They did not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>repent<MH7725> of their ways<MH1870>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>“Their widows<MH490> will be<MH6105a> more<MH4480> numerous<MH6105a> before Me <t><p class="indent1">Than<MH4480> the sand<MH2344> of the seas<MH3220>; <t><p class="indent1">I will bring<MH935> against them, against<MH5921> the mother<MH517> of a young<MH970> man<MH970>, <t><p class="indent1">A destroyer<MH7703> at noon<MH6672a>; <t><p class="indent1">I will suddenly<MH6597> bring<MH5307> down<MH5307> on her <t><p class="indent1">Shock<MH5892a> and horror<MH928>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“She who gave<MH3205> birth<MH3205> to seven<MH7651> <i>sons</i> withers<MH535> away<MH535>; <t><p class="indent1"><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>Her breathing<MH5315> is<MH5301> labored<MH5301>. <t><p class="indent1">Her sun<MH8121> has set<MH935> while it was still<MH5750> day<MH3119>; <t><p class="indent1">She has been shamed<MH954> and humiliated<MH2659>. <t><p class="indent1">So I will turn<MH5414> over<MH5414> their survivors<MH7611> to the sword<MH2719> <t><p class="indent1">Before<MH6440> their enemies<MH340>,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Woe<MH188> to me, my mother<MH517>, that you have given<MH3205> birth<MH3205> to me <t><p class="indent1"><i>As</i> a man<MH376> of strife<MH7379> and a man<MH376> of contention<MH4066> to all<MH3605> the land<MH776>! <t><p class="indent1">I have not lent<MH5383>, nor<MH3808> have people lent<MH5383> money to me, <t><p class="indent1"><i>Yet</i> everyone<MH3605> curses<MH7043> me. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> said<MH559>, “I will certainly<MH518, 3808> set<MH8281> you free<MH8281> for <i>purposes of</i> good<MH2896b>; <t><p class="indent1">I will certainly<MH518, 3808> make the enemy<MH340> plead<MH6293> with you <t><p class="indent1">In a time<MH6256> of disaster<MH7463a> and a time<MH6256> of distress<MH6869a>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>“Can <i>anyone</i> smash<MH7489b> iron<MH1270>, <t><p class="indent1">Iron<MH1270> from the north<MH6828>, or bronze<MH5178>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>“I will give<MH5414> your wealth<MH2428> and your treasures<MH214> <t><p class="indent1">As plunder<MH957> without<MH3808> cost<MH4242>, <t><p class="indent1">For all<MH3605> your sins<MH2403b> <t><p class="indent1">And within all<MH3605> your borders<MH1366>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>“Then I will make your enemies<MH340> bring<MH5674a> <i>your possessions</i> <t><p class="indent1">Into a land<MH776> <i>that</i> you do not know<MH3045>; <t><p class="indent1">For a fire<MH784> has been<MH6919> kindled<MH6919> in My anger<MH639>, <t><p class="indent1"><i>And</i> it will burn<MH3344> upon you.” <p class="hdg">Jeremiah’s Prayer and God’s Answer</p><poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>You know<MH3045>, LORD<MH3068>; <t><p class="indent1">Remember<MH2142> me, take<MH6485> notice<MH6485> of me, <t><p class="indent1">And take<MH5358> vengeance<MH5358> for me on my persecutors<MH7291>. <t><p class="indent1">Do not, in view of Your patience<MH750>, take<MH3947> me away; <t><p class="indent1">Know<MH3045> that for<MH5921> Your sake<MH5921> I endure<MH5375> reproach<MH2781>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Your words<MH1697> were found<MH4672> and I ate<MH398> them, <t><p class="indent1">And Your words<MH1697> became<MH1961> a joy<MH8342> to me and the delight<MH8057> of my heart<MH3824>; <t><p class="indent1">For I have been called<MH7121> by Your name<MH8034>, <t><p class="indent1">LORD<MH3068> God<MH430> of armies<MH6635>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>I did not sit<MH3427> in a circle<MH5475> of revelers<MH7832> and celebrate<MH5937>. <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH4480, 6440> of Your hand<MH3027> <i>upon me</i> I sat<MH3427> alone<MH910>, <t><p class="indent1">For You filled<MH4390> me with indignation<MH2195>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/15-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Why<MH4100> has my pain<MH3511> been<MH1961> endless<MH5331> <t><p class="indent1">And my wound<MH4347> incurable<MH605>, refusing<MH3985> to be healed<MH7495>?
