for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>under compulsion<MH2389, 3027> he will let<MH7971> them go<MH7971>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>under compulsion<MH2389, 3027> he will drive<MH1644> them out<MH1644> of his land<MH776>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>God<MH430> spoke<MH1696> further to Moses<MH4872> and said<MH559> to him, “I am the LORD<MH3068>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>and I appeared<MH7200> to Abraham<MH85>, Isaac<MH3327>, and Jacob<MH3290> as <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>God<MH410> Almighty<MH7706b>, but <i>by</i> My name<MH8034>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>LORD<MH3068>, I did not make<MH3045> Myself known<MH3045> to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>I also<MH1571> established<MH6965> My covenant<MH1285> with them, to give<MH5414> them the land<MH776> of Canaan<MH3667a>, the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>land<MH776> in which<MH834> they lived<MH1481a> as<MH1481a> strangers<MH1481a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Furthermore<MH1571> I have heard<MH8085> the groaning<MH5009> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, because<MH834> the Egyptians<MH4714> are holding<MH5647> them in bondage<MH5647>, and I have remembered<MH2142> My covenant<MH1285>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Say<MH559>, therefore<MH3651>, to the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, ‘I am the LORD<MH3068>, and I will bring<MH3318> you out<MH3318> from under<MH8478> the labors<MH5450> of the Egyptians<MH4714>, and I will rescue<MH5337> you from their bondage<MH5656>. I will also redeem<MH1350> you with an outstretched<MH5186> arm<MH2220>, and with great<MH1419> judgments<MH8201>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then I will take<MH3947> you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>as My people<MH5971a>, and I will be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>your God<MH430>; and you shall know<MH3045> that I am the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, who brought<MH3318> you out<MH3318> from under<MH8478> the labors<MH5450> of the Egyptians<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>I will bring<MH935> you to the land<MH776> which<MH834> I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>swore<MH5375, 3027> to give<MH5414> to Abraham<MH85>, Isaac<MH3327>, and Jacob<MH3290>, and I will give<MH5414> it to you <i>as</i> a possession<MH4181>; I am the LORD<MH3068>.’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> said<MH1696> this<MH3651> to the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, but they did not listen<MH8085> to Moses<MH4872> on<MH4480> account<MH4480> of<MH4480> <i>their</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>despondency<MH7115, 7307> and cruel<MH7186> bondage<MH5656>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Now the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>“Go<MH935>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>tell<MH1696> Pharaoh<MH6547> king<MH4428> of Egypt<MH4714> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>to let<MH7971> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> go<MH7971> out<MH7971> of his land<MH776>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But Moses<MH4872> spoke<MH1696> before<MH6440> the LORD<MH3068>, saying<MH559>, “Behold<MH2005>, the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> have not listened<MH8085> to me; how<MH349> then will Pharaoh<MH6547> listen<MH8085> to me, as I am <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>unskilled<MH6189> in speech<MH8193>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Nevertheless, the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872> and to Aaron<MH175> and gave<MH6680> them a command<MH6680> concerning<MH413> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> and Pharaoh<MH6547> king<MH4428> of Egypt<MH4714>, to bring<MH3318> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> out<MH3318> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>. <p class="hdg">The Heads of Israel</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>These<MH428> are the heads<MH7218> of their fathers’<MH1> households<MH1004>. The sons<MH1121> of Reuben<MH7205>, Israel’s<MH3478> firstborn<MH1060>: Hanoch<MH2585> and Pallu<MH6396>, Hezron<MH2696> and Carmi<MH3756>; these<MH428> are the families<MH4940> of Reuben<MH7205>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Simeon<MH8095>: <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>Jemuel<MH3223>, Jamin<MH3226>, Ohad<MH161>, Jachin<MH3199>, Zohar<MH6714>, and Shaul<MH7586> the son<MH1121> of a Canaanite<MH3669a> woman<MH3669a>; these<MH428> are the families<MH4940> of Simeon<MH8095>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And these<MH428> are the names<MH8034> of the sons<MH1121> of Levi<MH3878> according to their generations<MH8435>: Gershon<MH1648>, Kohath<MH6955>, and Merari<MH4847>; and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>length<MH8141> of Levi’s<MH3878> life<MH2425b> was 137<MH3967, 7970, 7651> years<MH8141>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>The sons<MH1121> of Gershon<MH1648>: <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>Libni<MH3845> and Shimei<MH8096>, according to their families<MH4940>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Kohath<MH6955>: Amram<MH6019>, Izhar<MH3324>, Hebron<MH2275b>, and Uzziel<MH5816>; and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>length<MH8141> of Kohath’s<MH6955> life<MH2425b> was 133<MH3967, 7970, 7969> years<MH8141>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Merari<MH4847>: Mahli<MH4249> and Mushi<MH4187>. These<MH428> are the families<MH4940> of the Levites<MH3881> according to their generations<MH8435>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Now Amram<MH6019> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>married<MH3947, 802> his father’s<MH1733> sister<MH1733> Jochebed<MH3115>, and she bore<MH3205> him Aaron<MH175> and Moses<MH4872>; and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>length<MH8141> of Amram’s<MH6019> life<MH2425b> was 137<MH3967, 7970, 7651> years<MH8141>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Izhar<MH3324>: Korah<MH7141>, Nepheg<MH5298>, and Zichri<MH2147>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Uzziel<MH5816>: Mishael<MH4332>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>Elzaphan<MH469>, and Sithri<MH5644>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Aaron<MH175> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>married<MH3947, 802> Elisheba<MH472>, the daughter<MH1323> of Amminadab<MH5992>, the sister<MH269> of Nahshon<MH5177>, and she bore<MH3205> him Nadab<MH5070> and Abihu<MH30>, Eleazar<MH499> and Ithamar<MH385>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Korah<MH7141>: Assir<MH617>, Elkanah<MH511>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>Abiasaph<MH23>; these<MH428> are the families<MH4940> of the Korahites<MH7145>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/6-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Now Aaron’s<MH175> son<MH1121> Eleazar<MH499> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>married<MH3947, 802> one<MH4480> of the daughters<MH1323> of Putiel<MH6317>, and she bore<MH3205> him Phinehas<MH6372>.
