Articles are made available in <strong>open-access</strong> shortly after acceptance and are regrouped in issues printed once a year and distributed to ISCCA members. All taxonomic groups are treated, including plants, invertebrates, vertebrates, microfossils, and ichnofossils, with a special emphasis on terrestrial and post-Palaeozoic marine biota. So far, it has published over 300 nomenclatural acts as well as numerous descriptions of new taxa and ichnotaxa. It also features large taxonomic works including those with the focus on the world fauna. The contributions are submitted in either Russian or English. All research papers are peer-reviewed. </p> <p>The descriptions of new taxa are indexed in Zoological Record, an international database of zoological and animal science literature, as well as on <a href="http://zoobank.org/">Zoobank</a>. There are no restrictions on author and geographic region. Papers are published Online First as they are accepted. Online First publishes accepted articles in electronic form prior to their appearance in the print version of the journal, eliminating the delay necessary for the completion of an entire issue. One or two print issues of the journal is published per year, containing all online publications from the preceding year.</p> <p><strong>Peer review process</strong></p> <p>All manuscripts will be subjected to peer-review before acceptance by at least two reviewers. When a manuscript is received, the Editor-in-Chief normally asks the qualified reviewers to evaluate the manuscript. When the authors submit their manuscripts to the editor, it will be more expedient to the review process if the authors offer the names of two or more potential reviewers with their contact addresses including e-mail accounts.</p> <p><strong>Originality and plagiarism</strong></p> <p>The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors used the other’s work, it should be appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism takes many forms, from passing off other papers as the authors own paper, to copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of the other papers (without attribution), to claiming results from research conducted by others. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. The editors shall evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content and reserve the right to decide not to publish submitted manuscripts in case if it is found that they do not meet relevant standards concerning the content and formal aspects.
