And He was <a href="#fn">[b]</a>transfigured<MG3339> before<MG1715> them; <a href="/mark/9-3.htm">3</a>and His garments<MG2440> became<MG1096> radiant<MG4744> and exceedingly<MG3029> white<MG3022>, as no<MG3756> launderer<MG1102> on earth<MG1093> can<MG1410> whiten<MG3021> them. <a href="/mark/9-4.htm">4</a>And Elijah<MG2243> appeared<MG3708> to them along<MG4862> with Moses<MG3475>; and they were talking<MG4814> with Jesus<MG2424>. <a href="/mark/9-5.htm">5</a>Peter<MG4074> responded<MG611> and *said<MG3004> to Jesus<MG2424>, “Rabbi<MG4461>, it is good<MG2570> that we are here<MG5602>; let’s make<MG4160> three<MG5140> <a href="#fn">[c]</a>tabernacles<MG4633>, one<MG1520> for You, one<MG1520> for Moses<MG3475>, and one<MG1520> for Elijah<MG2243>.” <a href="/mark/9-6.htm">6</a>For he did not know<MG3609a> how<MG5101> to reply<MG611>; for they became<MG1096> terrified<MG1630>. <a href="/mark/9-7.htm">7</a>Then<MG2532> a cloud<MG3507> <a href="#fn">[d]</a>formed<MG1096>, overshadowing<MG1982> them, and a voice<MG5456> <a href="#fn">[e]</a>came<MG1096> out of the cloud<MG3507>: “This<MG3778> is My beloved<MG27> Son<MG5207>; <a href="#fn">[f]</a>listen<MG191> to Him!” <a href="/mark/9-8.htm">8</a>And suddenly<MG1819> they looked<MG4017> around<MG4017> and saw<MG3708> no<MG3762> one<MG3762> with them anymore<MG3765>, except<MG1508> Jesus<MG2424> alone<MG3441>. <a href="/mark/9-9.htm">9</a>As they were coming<MG2597> down<MG2597> from the mountain<MG3735>, He gave<MG1291> them orders<MG1291> not to relate<MG1334> to anyone<MG3367> what<MG3739> they had seen<MG3708>, <a href="#fn">[g]</a>until<MG1487, 3361, 3752> the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> rose<MG450> from the dead<MG3498>. <a href="/mark/9-10.htm">10</a>They <a href="#fn">[h]</a>seized<MG2902> upon <a href="#fn">[i]</a>that statement<MG3056>, discussing<MG4802> with one<MG1438> another<MG1438> <a href="#fn">[j]</a>what<MG5101> rising<MG450> from the dead<MG3498> meant<MG1510>. <a href="/mark/9-11.htm">11</a>And they asked<MG1905> Him, saying<MG3004>, “Why is it that the scribes<MG1122> say<MG3004> that Elijah<MG2243> must<MG1163> come<MG2064> first<MG4413>?” <a href="/mark/9-12.htm">12</a>And He said<MG5346> to them, “Elijah<MG2243> does come<MG2064> first<MG4413> and he restores<MG600> all<MG3956> things<MG3956>. And yet how<MG4459> is it written<MG1125> of the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> that He will suffer<MG3958> many<MG4183> things<MG4183> and be treated<MG1847> with<MG1847> contempt<MG1847>? <a href="/mark/9-13.htm">13</a>But I say<MG3004> to you that Elijah<MG2243> has <a href="#fn">[k]</a>indeed<MG2532> come<MG2064>, and they did<MG4160> to him whatever<MG3745> they wanted<MG2309>, just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> it is written<MG1125> of him.” All Things Possible<a href="/mark/9-14.htm">14</a>And when they came<MG2064> back to the other disciples<MG3101>, they saw<MG3708> a large<MG4183> crowd<MG3793> around<MG4012> them, and some scribes<MG1122> arguing<MG4802> with them. <a href="/mark/9-15.htm">15</a>Immediately<MG2117>, when the entire<MG3956> crowd<MG3793> saw<MG3708> Him, they were amazed<MG1568> and began running<MG4370> up<MG4370> to greet<MG782> Him. <a href="/mark/9-16.htm">16</a>And He asked<MG1905> them, “What<MG5101> are you disputing<MG4802> with them?” <a href="/mark/9-17.htm">17</a>And one<MG1520> person from the crowd<MG3793> answered<MG611> Him, “Teacher<MG1320>, I brought<MG5342> You my son<MG5207>, because he has<MG2192> a spirit<MG4151> that makes him unable<MG216> to<MG216> speak<MG216>; <a href="/mark/9-18.htm">18</a>and <a href="#fn">[l]</a>whenever<MG3699> it seizes<MG2638> him, it slams<MG4486> him to<MG4486> the<MG4486> ground<MG4486>, and he foams<MG875> at the mouth and grinds<MG5149> his teeth<MG3599> and becomes stiff<MG3583>. And I told<MG3004> Your disciples<MG3101> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> they would cast<MG1544b> it out<MG1544b>, but they could<MG2480> not do it.” <a href="/mark/9-19.htm">19</a>And He answered<MG611> them and *said<MG3004>, “O<MG5599> unbelieving<MG571> generation<MG1074>, how<MG2193> long<MG2193, 4219> shall I be with you? How<MG2193> long<MG2193, 4219> shall I put<MG430> up<MG430> with you? Bring<MG5342> him to Me!” <a href="/mark/9-20.htm">20</a>And they brought<MG5342> <a href="#fn">[m]</a>the boy to Him. When<MG2532> he saw<MG3708> Him, the spirit<MG4151> immediately<MG2117> threw<MG4952> him into<MG4952> convulsions<MG4952>, and falling<MG4098> to the ground<MG1093>, he began rolling<MG2947> around<MG2947> and foaming<MG875> at the mouth. <a href="/mark/9-21.htm">21</a>And He asked<MG1905> his father<MG3962>, “How<MG4214> long<MG5550> has this<MG3778> been<MG1510> happening<MG1096> to him?” And he said<MG3004>, “From childhood<MG3812>. <a href="/mark/9-22.htm">22</a>It has often<MG4178> thrown<MG906> him both<MG2532> into the fire<MG4442> and into the water<MG5204> to kill<MG622> him. But if<MG1487> You can<MG1410> do anything<MG5100>, take<MG4697> pity<MG4697> on us and help<MG997> us!” <a href="/mark/9-23.htm">23</a>But Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to him, “‘If<MG1487> You can<MG1410>?’ All<MG3956> things<MG3956> are possible<MG1415> for the one who believes<MG4100>.” <a href="/mark/9-24.htm">24</a>Immediately<MG2117> the boy’s<MG3813> father<MG3962> cried<MG2896> out<MG2896> and said<MG3004>, “I do believe<MG4100>; help<MG997> my unbelief<MG570>!” <a href="/mark/9-25.htm">25</a>When Jesus<MG2424> saw<MG3708> that a crowd<MG3793> was <a href="#fn">[n]</a>rapidly<MG1998> gathering<MG1998>, He rebuked<MG2008> the unclean<MG169> spirit<MG4151>, saying<MG3004> to it, “You mute<MG216> and deaf<MG2974> spirit<MG4151>, I <a href="#fn">[o]</a>command<MG2004> you, come<MG1831> out<MG1831> of him and do not enter<MG1525> him <a href="#fn">[p]</a>again<MG3371>!” <a href="/mark/9-26.htm">26</a>And after crying<MG2896> out<MG2896> and throwing<MG4682> him into<MG4682> terrible<MG4183> convulsions<MG4682>, it came<MG1831> out<MG1831>; and the boy became<MG1096> so<MG5620> much<MG5620> like<MG5616> a corpse<MG3498> that<MG5620> most<MG4183> of them said<MG3004>, “He is dead<MG599>!” <a href="/mark/9-27.htm">27</a>But Jesus<MG2424> took<MG2902> him by the hand<MG5495> and raised<MG1453> him, and he got<MG450> up<MG450>. <a href="/mark/9-28.htm">28</a>When He came<MG1525> into the house<MG3624>, His disciples<MG3101> began asking<MG1905> Him privately<MG2596, 2398>, “Why is it that we could<MG1410> not cast<MG1544b> it out<MG1544b>?” <a href="/mark/9-29.htm">29</a>And He said<MG3004> to them, “This<MG3778> kind<MG1085> cannot<MG1410, 3762> come<MG1831> out<MG1831> by anything<MG3762> except<MG1487, 3361> prayer<MG4335>.” Death and Resurrection Foretold<a href="/mark/9-30.htm">30</a>And from<MG2547> there<MG2547> they went<MG1831> out<MG1831> and began to go<MG3899> through<MG1223> Galilee<MG1056>, and He did not want<MG2309> anyone<MG5100> to know<MG1097> about it. <a href="/mark/9-31.htm">31</a>For He was teaching<MG1321> His disciples<MG3101> and telling<MG3004> them, “The Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> is to be <a href="#fn">[q]</a>handed<MG3860, 5495> over<MG3860> to men<MG444>, and they will kill<MG615> Him; and when He has been killed<MG615>, He will rise<MG450> three<MG5140> days<MG2250> later<MG3326>.” <a href="/mark/9-32.htm">32</a>But they <a href="#fn">[r]</a>did not understand<MG50> this statement<MG4487>, and they were<MG5399> afraid<MG5399> to ask<MG1905> Him. <a href="/mark/9-33.htm">33</a>They came<MG2064> to Capernaum<MG2746b>; and when He was in the house<MG3614>, He began to question<MG1905> them: “What<MG5101> were you discussing<MG1260> on the way<MG3598>?” <a href="/mark/9-34.htm">34</a>But they kept<MG4623> silent<MG4623>, for on the way<MG3598> they had discussed<MG1256> with one<MG240> another<MG240> which<MG5101> of them was the greatest<MG3173>. <a href="/mark/9-35.htm">35</a>And sitting<MG2523> down<MG2523>, He called<MG5455> the twelve<MG1427> and *said<MG3004> to them, “If<MG1487> anyone<MG5100> wants<MG2309> to be first<MG4413>, he shall be last<MG2078> of all<MG3956> and servant<MG1249> of all<MG3956>.” <a href="/mark/9-36.htm">36</a>And He took<MG2983> a child<MG3813> and placed<MG2476> him among<MG1722, 3319> them, and taking<MG1723> him in<MG1723> His arms<MG1723>, He said<MG3004> to them, <a href="/mark/9-37.htm">37</a>“Whoever<MG3739, 302> <a href="#fn">[s]</a>receives<MG1209> <a href="#fn">[t]</a>one<MG1520> child<MG3813> like<MG5108> this<MG5108> in My name<MG3686> <a href="#fn">[u]</a>receives<MG1209> Me; and whoever<MG3739, 302> <a href="#fn">[v]</a>receives<MG1209> Me does not <a href="#fn">[w]</a>receive<MG1209> Me, but Him who sent<MG649> Me.” Dire Warnings<a href="/mark/9-38.htm">38</a>John<MG2491> said<MG5346> to Him, “Teacher<MG1320>, we saw<MG3708> someone<MG5100> casting<MG1544b> out<MG1544b> demons<MG1140> in Your name<MG3686>, and we tried to prevent<MG2967> him because<MG3754> he was not following<MG190> us.” <a href="/mark/9-39.htm">39</a>But Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004>, “Do not hinder<MG2967> him, for there is no<MG3762> one<MG3762> who<MG3739> will perform<MG4160> a miracle<MG1411> in My name<MG3686>, and be able<MG1410> soon<MG5035> afterward to speak<MG2551> evil<MG2551> of<MG2551> Me. <a href="/mark/9-40.htm">40</a>For the one who<MG3739> is not against<MG2596> us is <a href="#fn">[x]</a>for us. <a href="/mark/9-41.htm">41</a>For whoever<MG3739, 302> gives<MG4222> you a cup<MG4221> of water<MG5204> to<MG4222> drink<MG4222> <a href="#fn">[y]</a>because<MG3754> of your name<MG3686> as followers of Christ<MG5547>, truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, he shall by no<MG3364> means<MG3364> lose<MG622> his reward<MG3408>. <a href="/mark/9-42.htm">42</a>“Whoever<MG3739> causes<MG4624> one<MG1520> of these<MG3778> <a href="#fn">[z]</a>little<MG3398> ones<MG3398> who believe<MG4100> in Me to<MG4624> <a href="#fn">[aa]</a>sin<MG4624>, it is better<MG2570, 3123> for him if<MG1487> a heavy<MG3684> millstone<MG3458> is hung<MG4029> around<MG4012> his neck<MG5137> and he <a href="#fn">[ab]</a>is thrown<MG906> into the sea<MG2281>. <a href="/mark/9-43.htm">43</a>And if<MG1437> your hand<MG5495> causes<MG4624> you to<MG4624> sin<MG4624>, cut<MG609> it off<MG609>; it is better<MG2570> for you to enter<MG1525> life<MG2222> maimed<MG2948>, than<MG2228>, having<MG2192> your two<MG1417> hands<MG5495>, to go<MG565> into <a href="#fn">[ac]</a>hell<MG1067>, into the unquenchable<MG762> fire<MG4442>.<a href="#fn">[ad]</a> <a href="/mark/9-45.htm">45</a>And if<MG1437> your foot<MG4228> is causing<MG4624> you to<MG4624> sin<MG4624>, cut<MG609> it off<MG609>; it is better<MG2570> for you to enter<MG1525> life<MG2222> without<MG5560> a<MG5560> foot<MG5560>, than<MG2228>, having<MG2192> your two<MG1417> feet<MG4228>, to be thrown<MG906> into <a href="#fn">[ae]</a>hell<MG1067>.<a href="#fn">[af]</a> <a href="/mark/9-47.htm">47</a>And if<MG1437> your eye<MG3788> is causing<MG4624> you to<MG4624> sin<MG4624>, throw<MG1544b> it away<MG1544b>; it is better<MG2570> for you to enter<MG1525> the kingdom<MG932> of God<MG2316> with one<MG3442> eye<MG3442>, than<MG2228>, having<MG2192> two<MG1417> eyes<MG3788>, to be thrown<MG1544b> into <a href="#fn">[ag]</a>hell<MG1067>, <a href="/mark/9-48.htm">48</a>where<MG3699> THEIR WORM<MG4663> DOES NOT DIE<MG5053>, AND THE FIRE<MG4442> IS NOT EXTINGUISHED<MG4570>. <a href="/mark/9-49.htm">49</a>For everyone<MG3956> will be salted<MG233> with fire<MG4442>. <a href="/mark/9-50.htm">50</a>Salt<MG217> is good<MG2570>;
