product, integrates and blends cultural and natural heritage to explore the cultural value behind its material landscape. Qikou ancient town is a typical traditional settlement with a homomorphism of mountain and water veins. Its cultural accumulation and natural landscape play an important role in its development. Therefore, this paper will combine the material and cultural elements of Qikou ancient town to analyze the composition of the cultural landscape of the ancient town and explore the protection and utilization of the cultural landscape of Qikou ancient town from the four aspects of ecology, form, cultural form, and business form, so as to provide effective strategies for the development of the ancient town. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=four%20state" title="four state">four state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cultural%20landscape" title=" cultural landscape"> cultural landscape</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ancient%20town" title=" ancient town"> ancient town</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protection" title=" protection"> protection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development" title=" development"> development</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158266/research-on-the-protection-and-development-of-ancient-town-cultural-landscape-based-on-four-state-elements-illustrated-by-the-example-of-qikou" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158266.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Highly Robust Crosslinked BIAN-based Binder to Stabilize High-Performance Silicon Anode in Lithium-Ion Secondary Battery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agman%20Gupta">Agman Gupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajashekar%20Badam"> Rajashekar Badam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noriyoshi%20Matsumi"> Noriyoshi Matsumi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Recently, silicon has been recognized as one of the potential alternatives as anode active material in Li-ion batteries (LIBs) to replace the conventionally used graphite anodes. Silicon is abundantly present in the nature, it can alloy with lithium metal, and has a higher theoretical capacity (~4200 mAhg-1) that is approximately 10 times higher than graphite. However, because of a large volume expansion (~400%) upon repeated de-/alloying, the pulverization of Si particles causes the exfoliation of electrode laminate leading to the loss of electrical contact and adversely affecting the formation of solid-electrolyte interface (SEI).1 Functional polymers as binders have emerged as a competitive strategy to mitigate these drawbacks and failure mechanism of silicon anodes.1 A variety of aqueous/non-aqueous polymer binders like sodium carboxy-methyl cellulose (CMC-Na), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), poly(acrylic acid), and other variants like mussel inspired binders have been investigated to overcome these drawbacks.1 However, there are only a few reports that mention the attempt of addressing all the drawbacks associated with silicon anodes effectively using a single novel functional polymer system as a binder. In this regard, here, we report a novel highly robust n-type bisiminoacenaphthenequinone (BIAN)-paraphenylene-based crosslinked polymer as a binder for Si anodes in lithium-ion batteries (Fig. 1). On its application, crosslinked-BIAN binder was evaluated to provide mechanical robustness to the large volume expansion of Si particles, maintain electrical conductivity within the electrode laminate, and facilitate in the formation of a thin SEI by restricting the extent of electrolyte decomposition on the surface of anode. The fabricated anodic half-cells were evaluated electrochemically for their rate capability, cyclability, and discharge capacity. Experimental: The polymerized BIAN (P-BIAN) copolymer was synthesized as per the procedure reported by our group.2 The synthesis of crosslinked P-BIAN: a solution of P-BIAN copolymer (1.497 g, 10 mmol) in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) (150 ml) was set-up to stir under reflux in nitrogen atmosphere. To this, 1,6-dibromohexane (5 mmol, 0.77 ml) was added dropwise. The resultant reaction mixture was stirred and refluxed at 150 °C for 24 hours followed by refrigeration for 3 hours at 5 °C. The product was obtained by evaporating the NMP solvent under reduced pressure and drying under vacuum at 120 °C for 12 hours. The obtained product was a black colored sticky compound. It was characterized by 1H-NMR, XPS, and FT-IR techniques. Results and Discussion: The N 1s XPS spectrum of the crosslinked BIAN polymer showed two characteristic peaks corresponding to the sp2 hybridized nitrogen (-C=N-) at 399.6 eV of the diimine backbone in the BP and quaternary nitrogen at 400.7 eV corresponding to the crosslinking of BP via dibromohexane. The DFT evaluation of the crosslinked BIAN binder showed that it has a low lying lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) that enables it to get doped in the reducing environment and influence the formation of a thin (SEI). Therefore, due to the mechanically robust crosslinked matrices as well as its influence on the formation of a thin SEI, the crosslinked BIAN binder stabilized the Si anode-based half-cell for over 1000 cycles with a reversible capacity of ~2500 mAhg-1 and ~99% capacity retention as shown in Fig. 2. The dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (DEIS) characterization of crosslinked BIAN-based anodic half-cell confirmed that the SEI formed was thin in comparison with the conventional binder-based anodes. Nuclear power stations have traditionally provided minimal ancillary services to support the system but this must change in the future as they replace fossil fuel generators. This paper explains the development of the four most popular reactor types still in regular operation across the world which have formed the basis for most reactor development since their commercialisation in the 1950s. The use of nuclear power in four countries with varying levels of capacity provided by nuclear generators is investigated, using the primary frequency response provided by generators as a measure for the electricity networks stability, to assess the need for nuclear generators to provide additional support as their share of the generation capacity increases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency%20control" title="frequency control">frequency control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nuclear%20power%20generation" title=" nuclear power generation"> nuclear power generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20system%20stability" title=" power system stability"> power system stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=system%20inertia" title=" system inertia"> system inertia</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47932/the-use-of-nuclear-generation-to-provide-power-system-stability" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47932.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">437</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Research on the Public Policy of Vehicle Restriction under Traffic Control</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Qian">Wang Qian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bian%20Cheng%20Xiang"> Bian Cheng Xiang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, with the improvement of China's urbanization level, the number of urban motor vehicles has grown rapidly. As residents' daily commuting necessities, cars cause a lot of exhaust emissions and urban traffic congestion. In the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" of China, it is proposed to strive to reach the peak of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Urban transport accounts for a high proportion of carbon emission sources. It is an important driving force for the realization of China's carbon peak strategy. Some cities have introduced and implemented the policy of "car restriction" to solve related urban problems by reducing the use of cars. This paper analyzes the implementation of the "automobile restriction" policy, evaluates the relevant effects of the automobile restriction policy, and discusses how to better optimize the "automobile restriction" policy in the process of urban governance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20emission" title="carbon emission">carbon emission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traffic%20jams" title=" traffic jams"> traffic jams</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vehicle%20restrictions" title=" vehicle restrictions"> vehicle restrictions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=evaluate" title=" evaluate"> evaluate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159386/research-on-the-public-policy-of-vehicle-restriction-under-traffic-control" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159386.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Deposition and Properties of PEO Coatings on Zinc-Aluminum Alloys</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Linlin%20Wang">Linlin Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guangdong%20Bian"> Guangdong Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jifeng%20Shen"> Jifeng Shen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jingzhu%20Zeng"> Jingzhu Zeng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Zinc-aluminum alloys have been applied as alternatives to bronze, aluminum alloys, and cast iron due to their distinguishing features such as high as-cast strength, excellent bearing properties, as well as low energy requirements for melting. In this study, oxide coatings were produced on ZA27 zinc-aluminum alloy by a plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method. Three coatings were deposited by using three various electrolytes, i.e. silicate, aluminate and aluminate/borate composite solutions. The current density is set at 0.1A/cm2, deposition time is 40 mins for all the deposition processes. The surface morphology and phase structure of the three coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Pin-on-disc sliding wear tests were conducted to test the tribological properties of coatings. The results indicated that the coating produced using the aluminate/borate composite electrolyte had the highest deposition rate and best wear resistance among the three coatings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxide%20coating" title="oxide coating">oxide coating</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PEO" title=" PEO"> PEO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tribological%20properties" title=" tribological properties"> tribological properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ZA27" title=" ZA27"> ZA27</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22895/deposition-and-properties-of-peo-coatings-on-zinc-aluminum-alloys" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22895.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">495</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Sparse Unmixing of Hyperspectral Data by Exploiting Joint-Sparsity and Rank-Deficiency</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fanqiang%20Kong">Fanqiang Kong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chending%20Bian"> Chending Bian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this work, we exploit two assumed properties of the abundances of the observed signatures (endmembers) in order to reconstruct the abundances from hyperspectral data. Joint-sparsity is the first property of the abundances, which assumes the adjacent pixels can be expressed as different linear combinations of same materials. The second property is rank-deficiency where the number of endmembers participating in hyperspectral data is very small compared with the dimensionality of spectral library, which means that the abundances matrix of the endmembers is a low-rank matrix. These assumptions lead to an optimization problem for the sparse unmixing model that requires minimizing a combined <em>l2,p-</em>norm and nuclear norm. We propose a variable splitting and augmented Lagrangian algorithm to solve the optimization problem. Experimental evaluation carried out on synthetic and real hyperspectral data shows that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms with a better spectral unmixing accuracy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyperspectral%20unmixing" title="hyperspectral unmixing">hyperspectral unmixing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=joint-sparse" title=" joint-sparse"> joint-sparse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-rank%20representation" title=" low-rank representation"> low-rank representation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=abundance%20estimation" title=" abundance estimation"> abundance estimation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71439/sparse-unmixing-of-hyperspectral-data-by-exploiting-joint-sparsity-and-rank-deficiency" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71439.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">261</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Non-Local Simultaneous Sparse Unmixing for Hyperspectral Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fanqiang%20Kong">Fanqiang Kong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chending%20Bian"> Chending Bian</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sparse unmixing is a promising approach in a semisupervised fashion by assuming that the observed pixels of a hyperspectral image can be expressed in the form of linear combination of only a few pure spectral signatures (end members) in an available spectral library. However, the sparse unmixing problem still remains a great challenge at finding the optimal subset of endmembers for the observed data from a large standard spectral library, without considering the spatial information. Under such circumstances, a sparse unmixing algorithm termed as non-local simultaneous sparse unmixing (NLSSU) is presented. In NLSSU, the non-local simultaneous sparse representation method for endmember selection of sparse unmixing, is used to finding the optimal subset of endmembers for the similar image patch set in the hyperspectral image. And then, the non-local means method, as a regularizer for abundance estimation of sparse unmixing, is used to exploit the abundance image non-local self-similarity. Experimental results on both simulated and real data demonstrate that NLSSU outperforms the other algorithms, with a better spectral unmixing accuracy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyperspectral%20unmixing" title="hyperspectral unmixing">hyperspectral unmixing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simultaneous%20sparse%20representation" title=" simultaneous sparse representation"> simultaneous sparse representation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sparse%20regression" title=" sparse regression"> sparse regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-local%20means" title=" non-local means"> non-local means</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71689/non-local-simultaneous-sparse-unmixing-for-hyperspectral-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71689.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">245</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> From Ritual City to Modern City: The City Space Transformation of Xi’an in the Early 20th Century</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhang%20Bian">Zhang Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhao%20Jijun"> Zhao Jijun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The urban layout of Xi’an city (the capital Chang’an in the Tang dynasty) was shaped by feudal etiquette, but this dominant factor was replaced by modern city planning during the period of the Republic of China. This makes Xi’an a representative case to explore the transformation process of Chinese cities in the early 20th century. By analyzing the contrast and connection between the historical texts of city planning and the realistic construction activities recorded by the maps and images, this paper reviews the transformation process of the urban space of Xi’an in the early 20th century and divides it into four phases according to important events that significantly impacted planning and construction activities. Based on this, the entire transformation of Xi’an’s city planning and practices can be characterized by three aspects: 1) the dominant force of the city plan and construction changed with the establishment of modern city administrations; 2) the layout of the city was continuously broadened to meet the demand of modern economy and city life; and, 3) the ritual space was transformed into practical space for commercial and recreational activities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=city%20space" title="city space">city space</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20early%2020th%20century" title=" the early 20th century"> the early 20th century</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transformation" title=" transformation"> transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xi%E2%80%99an%20city" title=" Xi’an city"> Xi’an city</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132478/from-ritual-city-to-modern-city-the-city-space-transformation-of-xian-in-the-early-20th-century" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/132478.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">164</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Design and Thermal Simulation Analysis of the Chinese Accelerator Driven Sub-Critical System Injector-I Cryomodule</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rui-Xiong%20Han">Rui-Xiong Han</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rui%20Ge"> Rui Ge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shao-Peng%20Li"> Shao-Peng Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Bian"> Lin Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang-Rui%20Sun"> Liang-Rui Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Jing%20Sang"> Min-Jing Sang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rui%20Ye"> Rui Ye</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ya-Ping%20Liu"> Ya-Ping Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiang-Zhen%20Zhang"> Xiang-Zhen Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jie-Hao%20Zhang"> Jie-Hao Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhuo%20Zhang"> Zhuo Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jian-Qing%20Zhang"> Jian-Qing Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miao-Fu%20Xu"> Miao-Fu Xu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Chinese Accelerator Driven Sub-critical system (C-ADS) uses a high-energy proton beam to bombard the metal target and generate neutrons to deal with the nuclear waste. The management of these assets however requires a trade-off between client satisfaction and software engineering process. Clients have more and more difficult to find a distribution or components based on their needs from all of distributed repositories. This paper proposes a software engineering for a user-driven software product line in which engineers define a feature model but users drive the actual software distribution on demand. This approach makes the user become final actor as a release manager in software engineering process, increasing user product satisfaction and simplifying user operations to find required components. In addition, it provides a way for engineers to manage and assembly large software families. As a proof of concept, a user-driven software product line is implemented for eclipse, an integrated development environment. An eclipse feature model is defined, which is exposed to users on a cloud-based built platform from which clients can download individualized Eclipse distributions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20product%20line" title="software product line">software product line</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model-driven%20development" title=" model-driven development"> model-driven development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reverse%20engineering%20and%20refactoring" title=" reverse engineering and refactoring"> reverse engineering and refactoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agile%20method" title=" agile method"> agile method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9008/user-driven-product-line-engineering-for-assembling-large-families-of-software" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9008.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">432</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Augmented ADRC for Trajectory Tracking of a Novel Hydraulic Spherical Motion Mechanism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bin%20Bian">Bin Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liang%20Wang"> Liang Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A hydraulic spherical motion mechanism (HSMM) is proposed. Unlike traditional systems using serial or parallel mechanisms for multi-DOF rotations, the HSMM is capable of implementing continuous 2-DOF rotational motions in a single joint without the intermediate transmission mechanisms. It has some advantages of compact structure, low inertia and high stiffness. However, as HSMM is a nonlinear and multivariable system, it is very complicate to realize accuracy control. Therefore, an augmented active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) is proposed in this paper. Compared with the traditional PD control method, three compensation items, i.e., dynamics compensation term, disturbance compensation term and nonlinear error elimination term, are added into the proposed algorithm to improve the control performance. The ADRC algorithm aims at offsetting the effects of external disturbance and realizing accurate control. Euler angles are applied to describe the orientation of rotor. Lagrange equations are utilized to establish the dynamic model of the HSMM. The stability of this algorithm is validated with detailed derivation. Simulation model is formulated in Matlab/Simulink. The results show that the proposed control algorithm has better competence of trajectory tracking in the presence of uncertainties. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydraulic%20spherical%20motion%20mechanism" title="hydraulic spherical motion mechanism">hydraulic spherical motion mechanism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20model" title=" dynamic model"> dynamic model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=active%20disturbance%20rejection%20control" title=" active disturbance rejection control"> active disturbance rejection control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trajectory%20tracking" title=" trajectory tracking"> trajectory tracking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126959/augmented-adrc-for-trajectory-tracking-of-a-novel-hydraulic-spherical-motion-mechanism" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126959.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">105</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Modeling Water Inequality and Water Security: The Role of Water Governance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pius%20Babuna">Pius Babuna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaohua%20Yang"> Xiaohua Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberto%20Xavier%20Supe%20Tulcan"> Roberto Xavier Supe Tulcan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bian%20Dehui"> Bian Dehui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammed%20Takase"> Mohammed Takase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bismarck%20Yelfogle%20Guba"> Bismarck Yelfogle Guba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chuanliang%20Han"> Chuanliang Han</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Doris%20Abra%20Awudi"> Doris Abra Awudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meishui%20Lia"> Meishui Lia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Water inequality, water security, and water governance are fundamental parameters that affect the sustainable use of water resources. Through policy formulation and decision-making, water governance determines both water security and water inequality. Largely, where water inequality exists, water security is undermined through unsustainable water use practices that lead to pollution of water resources, conflicts, hoarding of water, and poor sanitation. Incidentally, the interconnectedness of water governance, water inequality, and water security has not been investigated previously. This study modified the Gini coefficient and used a Logistics Growth of Water Resources (LGWR) Model to access water inequality and water security mathematically, and discussed the connected role of water governance. We tested the validity of both models by calculating the actual water inequality and water security of Ghana. We also discussed the implications of water inequality on water security and the overarching role of water governance. The results show that regional water inequality is widespread in some parts. The Volta region showed the highest water inequality (Gini index of 0.58), while the central region showed the lowest (Gini index of 0.15). Water security is moderately sustainable. The use of water resources is currently stress-free. It was estimated to maintain such status until 2132 ± 18, when Ghana will consume half of the current total water resources of 53.2 billion cubic meters. Effectively, water inequality is a threat to water security, results in poverty, under-development heightens tensions in water use, and causes instability. With proper water governance, water inequality can be eliminated through formulating and implementing approaches that engender equal allocation and sustainable use of water resources. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20inequality" title="water inequality">water inequality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20security" title=" water security"> water security</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20governance" title=" water governance"> water governance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gini%20coefficient" title=" Gini coefficient"> Gini coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moran%20index" title=" moran index"> moran index</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20resources%20management" title=" water resources management"> water resources management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159818/modeling-water-inequality-and-water-security-the-role-of-water-governance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159818.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Investigation of Different Machine Learning Algorithms in Large-Scale Land Cover Mapping within the Google Earth Engine</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amin%20Naboureh">Amin Naboureh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ainong%20Li"> Ainong Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinhu%20Bian"> Jinhu Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guangbin%20Lei"> Guangbin Lei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamid%20Ebrahimy"> Hamid Ebrahimy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Large-scale land cover mapping has become a new challenge in land change and remote sensing field because of involving a big volume of data. Moreover, selecting the right classification method, especially when there are different types of landscapes in the study area is quite difficult. This paper is an attempt to compare the performance of different machine learning (ML) algorithms for generating a land cover map of the China-Central Asia–West Asia Corridor that is considered as one of the main parts of the Belt and Road Initiative project (BRI). The cloud-based Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform was used for generating a land cover map for the study area from Landsat-8 images (2017) by applying three frequently used ML algorithms including random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN). The selected ML algorithms (RF, SVM, and ANN) were trained and tested using reference data obtained from MODIS yearly land cover product and very high-resolution satellite images. The finding of the study illustrated that among three frequently used ML algorithms, RF with 91% overall accuracy had the best result in producing a land cover map for the China-Central Asia–West Asia Corridor whereas ANN showed the worst result with 85% overall accuracy. The great performance of the GEE in applying different ML algorithms and handling huge volume of remotely sensed data in the present study showed that it could also help the researchers to generate reliable long-term land cover change maps. The finding of this research has great importance for decision-makers and BRI’s authorities in strategic land use planning. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=land%20cover" title="land cover">land cover</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=google%20earth%20engine" title=" google earth engine"> google earth engine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=remote%20sensing" title=" remote sensing"> remote sensing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112348/investigation-of-different-machine-learning-algorithms-in-large-scale-land-cover-mapping-within-the-google-earth-engine" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112348.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">113</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> An Investigation of the Pharmacomechanisms of Shang-Han Lun Formulas as Elucidated in the Qing Dynasty Classic 'Ben-Jing Shu-Zheng'</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=William%20Ceurvels">William Ceurvels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong-Di%20Zhang"> Dong-Di Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The true nature of the mechanism by which the pharmaceuticals of the Shang-Han Lun act has been a topic of debate since Wuji Cheng published the first commentary during the Northern Song. Subsequent commentaries employed a number of methodologies in their analysis of pharmaceutical mechanisms, but no commentator was able to garner universal acceptance. During the Qing Dynasty, the proliferation and development of Neo-Confucian scholarship produced a new generation of scholars possessed of rigorous and inventive research methods, one of whom was the famed materia medica scholar, Run-an Zou. Run-an Zou and his successor Zhou Yan advocated analyzing the mechanism of Treatise pharmaceuticals based upon the understanding of those pharmaceuticals during the time period in which the Treatise was written and thereby focused on the Han Dynasty materia medica tract Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing (The Divine Husbandman’s Herbal Foundation Canon). Zou Run-an’s commentary, Ben-jing Shu-zheng won nearly universal praise among materia medica scholars for its scholastic rigor and innovative research methods. However, because Ben-jing Shu-zheng only focuses on individual herbs, as opposed to formulas, its value in analyzing the Shang-Han Lun has limitations. The purpose of this study is to combine Zou Run-an’s single-pharmaceutical commentaries to generate theoretical full formula analyses to gain a fuller picture of Zou’s understanding of the healing mechanism of Shang-Han Lun formulas. Commentaries were gathered from Ben-jing Shu-zheng and Zhou Yan’s Ben-cao Si-bian Lun and combined to produce theoretical full formula model mechanisms of Treatise formulas. Through this study, a new picture of the mechanistic basis of Shang-han formulas emerges, which is based on qi-xue changes as opposed to organ or meridian theory. The author hopes that this modest research study will be of service to scholars of the Shang-han and clinical doctors alike in their pursuit of the true pharmacomechanisms of this great Han dynasty tome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Materia%20medica" title="Materia medica">Materia medica</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shang-han%20Lun" title=" Shang-han Lun"> Shang-han Lun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shen-nong%20Ben-cao%20Jing" title=" Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing"> Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neo-Confucian%20scholarship" title=" neo-Confucian scholarship"> neo-Confucian scholarship</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267/an-investigation-of-the-pharmacomechanisms-of-shang-han-lun-formulas-as-elucidated-in-the-qing-dynasty-classic-ben-jing-shu-zheng" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">318</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Dynamic Response around Inclusions in Infinitely Inhomogeneous Media</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinlai%20Bian">Jinlai Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zailin%20Yang"> Zailin Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guanxixi%20Jiang"> Guanxixi Jiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xinzhu%20Li"> Xinzhu Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The problem of elastic wave propagation in inhomogeneous medium has always been a classic problem. Due to the frequent occurrence of earthquakes, many economic losses and casualties have been caused, therefore, to prevent earthquake damage to people and reduce damage, this paper studies the dynamic response around the circular inclusion in the whole space with inhomogeneous modulus, the inhomogeneity of the medium is reflected in the shear modulus of the medium with the spatial position, and the density is constant, this method can be used to solve the problem of the underground buried pipeline. Stress concentration phenomena are common in aerospace and earthquake engineering, and the dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF) is one of the main factors leading to material damage, one of the important applications of the theory of elastic dynamics is to determine the stress concentration in the body with discontinuities such as cracks, holes, and inclusions. At present, the methods include wave function expansion method, integral transformation method, integral equation method and so on. Based on the complex function method, the Helmholtz equation with variable coefficients is standardized by using conformal transformation method and wave function expansion method, the displacement and stress fields in the whole space with circular inclusions are solved in the complex coordinate system, the unknown coefficients are solved by using boundary conditions, by comparing with the existing results, the correctness of this method is verified, based on the superiority of the complex variable function theory to the conformal transformation, this method can be extended to study the inclusion problem of arbitrary shapes. By solving the dynamic stress concentration factor around the inclusions, the influence of the inhomogeneous parameters of the medium and the wavenumber ratio of the inclusions to the matrix on the dynamic stress concentration factor is analyzed. The research results can provide some reference value for the evaluation of nondestructive testing (NDT), oil exploration, seismic monitoring, and soil-structure interaction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=circular%20inclusions" title="circular inclusions">circular inclusions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complex%20variable%20function" title=" complex variable function"> complex variable function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20stress%20concentration%20factor%20%28DSCF%29" title=" dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF)"> dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inhomogeneous%20medium" title=" inhomogeneous medium "> inhomogeneous medium </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116538/dynamic-response-around-inclusions-in-infinitely-inhomogeneous-media" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116538.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">135</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Soil Wind Erosion, Nutrients, and Crop Yield Response to Conservation Tillage in North China: A Field Study in a Semi-Arid and Wind Erosion Region after 9 Years</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fahui%20Jiang">Fahui Jiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xinwei%20Xue"> Xinwei Xue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liyan%20Zhang"> Liyan Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yanyan%20Zuo"> Yanyan Zuo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hao%20Zhang"> Hao Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei%20Zheng"> Wei Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Limei%20Bian"> Limei Bian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lingling%20Hu"> Lingling Hu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chunlei%20Hao"> Chunlei Hao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianghong%20Du"> Jianghong Du</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yanhua%20Ci"> Yanhua Ci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruibao%20Cheng"> Ruibao Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ciren%20Dawa"> Ciren Dawa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mithun%20Biswas"> Mithun Biswas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahbub%20Ul%20Islam"> Mahbub Ul Islam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fansheng%20Meng"> Fansheng Meng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xinhua%20Peng"> Xinhua Peng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Context: Soil erosion is a global issue that poses a significant threat to agricultural sustainability, particular in northern of China, which experiences the most severe wind erosion worldwide. Conservation tillage is vital in arid regions for preserving soil, enhancing water retention, and sustaining agricultural productivity in the face of limited rainfall. However, the long-term impacts of conservation tillage in semi-arid regions, especially its effects on soil health, wind erosion, and crop productivity, are poorly understood. Objective: Assess the impacts of conservation tillage on soil hydrothermal properties, wind erosion rates, nutrient dynamics, and crop yield, as well as elucidating the underlying mechanisms driving these impacts. Methods: A 9-year in-situ study was conducted in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia Province, comparing conventional rotary tillage (CK) with two conservation tillage methods: no-tillage with straw mulching (CT-1) and no-tillage with standing straw (CT-2). Results: Soil bulk density increased significantly under CT-1 and CT-2 in the topsoil layer (0–20 cm) compared with CK. Soil moisture content exhibited a significant increase pattern under CT-1 and CT-2, while soil temperature decreased under CT-1 but increased under CT-2, relative to CK. These variations in soil hydrothermal properties were more pronounced during the early (critical) crop growth stages and higher temperature conditions (afternoon). Soil loss due to wind erosion, accumulated from a height of 0–50 cm on the land surface, was reduced by 31.3 % and 25.5 % under CT-1 and by 51.5 % and 38.2 % under CT-2 in 2021 and 2022, respectively, compared to CK. Furthermore, the proportion of soil finer particles (clay and silt) increased under CT due to reduced wind erosion. Soil organic carbon significantly increased throughout the soil profile (0–60 cm), particularly in the deeper layers (20–40 cm and 40–60 cm), compared to the surface layer (0–20 cm), with corresponding increases of +57.0 % and +0.18 %, +66.2 % and +80.3 %, and +27.1 % and +14.2 % under CT-1 and CT-2, respectively, relative to CK in 2021. The concentrations of soil nutrients such as total nitrogen, available nitrogen, and available phosphorus and potassium, consistently increased under CT-1 and CT-2 compared to CK, with notable enhancements observed in the topsoil layer (0–20 cm) before seedling time, albeit declining after crop harvest. Generally, CT treatments significantly increased dry matter accumulation (+4.8 % to +30.8 %) and grain yield (+2.22 % to +0.44 %) of maize compared to CK in the semi-arid region over the 9-year study period, particularly notable in dry years and with long-term application. Conclusions and implications: Conservation tillage in semi-arid regions enhanced soil properties, reduced soil erosion, and increased soil nutrient dynamics and crop yield, promising sustainable agricultural practices with environmental benefits. Furthermore, our findings suggest that no-tillage with straw mulching is more suitable for dry and wind erosion sensitive regions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
