Is he able to enter a second time into the womb of his mother and be born? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-5.htm#literal"><b>5</b></a></span>Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, If anyone be not born from out of water and Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-6.htm#literal"><b>6</b></a></span>That having been born from out of the flesh is flesh; and that having been born from out of the Spirit is spirit. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-7.htm#literal"><b>7</b></a></span>Do not marvel that I said to you, It is necessary for you to be born from above. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-8.htm#literal"><b>8</b></a></span>The wind (Spirit) blows (breathes) where it (He) wants and the sound (voice) of it (Him) you hear, but know not from where it (He) comes and where it (He) goes; thus is everyone having been born from out of the Spirit.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-9.htm#literal"><b>9</b></a></span>Nicodemus answered and said to Him, How are these things able to be? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-10.htm#literal"><b>10</b></a></span>Jesus answered and said to him, You are the teacher of Israel and you do not know these things? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-11.htm#literal"><b>11</b></a></span>Truly, truly I say to you, We speak that that which we know, and we bear witness of that which we have seen; and you do not receive our witness. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-12.htm#literal"><b>12</b></a></span>If I have told the earthly things to you and you do not believe, how, if I tell the heavenly things to you, will you believe? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-13.htm#literal"><b>13</b></a></span>And no one has gone up into heaven, unless the One from out of heaven having come down, the Son of man, {who is in heaven}. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-14.htm#literal"><b>14</b></a></span>And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, thus the Son of man must be lifted up, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-15.htm#literal"><b>15</b></a></span>So that everyone believing in Him might have life eternal.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-16.htm#literal"><b>16</b></a></span>For God thus (in this way) loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone believing unto Him should not perish but might have life eternal. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-17.htm#literal"><b>17</b></a></span>For God did not send His Son into the world so that He might judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-18.htm#literal"><b>18</b></a></span>The one believing unto Him is not judged; however the one not believing has already been judged because he has not believed unto the name of the only begotten Son of God. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-19.htm#literal"><b>19</b></a></span>And this is the judgment, that light has come into the world and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil (ponera). <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-20.htm#literal"><b>20</b></a></span>For everyone practicing evil things (phaula, foul, worthless, bad) hates (detests) the light and does not come to the light, so that his works might be exposed (reproved, convicted, rebuked); <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-21.htm#literal"><b>21</b></a></span>However the one doing the truth comes to the light, so that his works might be made apparent that they have been done in God.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-22.htm#literal"><b>22</b></a></span>After these things, Jesus and His disciples came into the Judean land; and there He stayed with them, and was baptizing. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-23.htm#literal"><b>23</b></a></span>And John was also baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there were many waters there; and they were coming and being baptized. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-24.htm#literal"><b>24</b></a></span>For John had not yet been cast into prison.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-25.htm#literal"><b>25</b></a></span>Then arose a question from out of the disciples of John with a Jew concerning purification. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-26.htm#literal"><b>26</b></a></span>And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan to whom you have borne witness, behold He baptizes and all come to Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-27.htm#literal"><b>27</b></a></span>John answered and said, A man is not able to receive anything unless it is given to him from out of heaven. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-28.htm#literal"><b>28</b></a></span>You yourselves bear witness to me that I said that I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-29.htm#literal"><b>29</b></a></span>The one having the bride (nymphen) is the bridegroom (nymphios); however the friend of the bridegroom, the one standing and hearing him, rejoices with with because of the voice of the bridegroom, this then, the joy of mine is fulfilled. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-30.htm#literal"><b>30</b></a></span>That One there must increase (grow, become greater), however me decrease (make less in rank or influence, make inferior).<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/3-31.htm#literal"><b>31</b></a></span>The One coming from above is above all. The one being from out of the earth is from out of the earth and speaks from out of the earth.
