and <a href="#fn">[a]</a>James<MG2385> the son of Zebedee<MG2199>, and his brother<MG80> <a href="#fn">[b]</a>John<MG2491>; <a href="/matthew/10-3.htm">3</a>Philip<MG5376> and <a href="#fn">[c]</a>Bartholomew<MG918>; Thomas<MG2381> and Matthew<MG3102b> the tax<MG5057> collector<MG5057>; <a href="#fn">[d]</a>James<MG2385> the son of Alphaeus<MG256b>, and Thaddaeus<MG2280>; <a href="/matthew/10-4.htm">4</a>Simon<MG4613> the <a href="#fn">[e]</a>Zealot<MG2581>, and Judas<MG2455> Iscariot<MG2469>, the one who also<MG2532> betrayed<MG3860> Him. <a href="/matthew/10-5.htm">5</a>These<MG3778> twelve<MG1427> Jesus<MG2424> sent<MG649> out<MG649> after instructing<MG3853> them, saying<MG3004>, “Do not go<MG565> on a road<MG3598> <a href="#fn">[f]</a>to Gentiles<MG1484>, and do not enter<MG1525> a city<MG4172> of Samaritans<MG4541>; Freely<MG1432> you received<MG2983>, freely<MG1432> give<MG1325>. <a href="/matthew/10-9.htm">9</a>Do not acquire<MG2932> gold<MG5557>, or<MG3366> silver<MG696>, or<MG3366> copper<MG5475> for your money<MG2223> belts<MG2223>, <a href="/matthew/10-10.htm">10</a>or<MG3361> a <a href="#fn">[i]</a>bag<MG4082> for your journey<MG3598>, or<MG3366> even<MG3366> two<MG1417> <a href="#fn">[j]</a>tunics<MG5509>, or<MG3366> sandals<MG5266>, or<MG3366> a staff<MG4464>; for the worker<MG2040> is deserving<MG514> of his <a href="#fn">[k]</a>support<MG5160>. <a href="/matthew/10-11.htm">11</a>And whatever<MG3739, 302> city<MG4172> or<MG2228> village<MG2968> you enter<MG1525>, inquire<MG1833> who<MG5101> is worthy<MG514> in it, and stay<MG3306> <a href="#fn">[l]</a>at<MG2546> his house<MG2546> until<MG2193> you leave<MG1831> that city. <a href="/matthew/10-12.htm">12</a>As you enter<MG1525> the <a href="#fn">[m]</a>house<MG3614>, give<MG782> it your <a href="#fn">[n]</a>greeting<MG782>. <a href="/matthew/10-13.htm">13</a>If<MG1437> the house<MG3614> is worthy<MG514>, see that your blessing of peace<MG1515> comes<MG2064> upon it. But if<MG1437> it is not worthy<MG514>, <a href="#fn">[o]</a>take<MG1994> back<MG1994> your blessing of peace<MG1515>. <a href="/matthew/10-14.htm">14</a>And whoever<MG3739> does not receive<MG1209> you nor<MG3366> listen<MG191> to your words<MG3056>, as you leave<MG1831> that house<MG3614> or<MG2228> city<MG4172>, shake<MG1621> the dust<MG2868> off<MG1621> your feet<MG4228>. <a href="/matthew/10-15.htm">15</a>Truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, it will be more<MG414> tolerable<MG414> for the land<MG1093> of Sodom<MG4670> and Gomorrah<MG1116> on the day<MG2250> of judgment<MG2920>, than<MG2228> for that city<MG4172>. A Hard Road Ahead of Them<a href="/matthew/10-16.htm">16</a>“Behold<MG2400>, I am sending<MG649> you out<MG649> as sheep<MG4263b> in<MG649> the midst<MG3319> of wolves<MG3074>; so<MG3767> be as wary<MG5429> as serpents<MG3789>, and as innocent<MG185> as doves<MG4058>. <a href="/matthew/10-17.htm">17</a>But be<MG4337> on<MG4337> guard<MG4337> against<MG4337, 575> people<MG444>, for they will hand<MG3860> you over<MG3860> to the courts<MG4892> and flog<MG3146> you in their synagogues<MG4864>; <a href="/matthew/10-18.htm">18</a>and you will even<MG2532> be brought<MG71> before<MG1909> governors<MG2232> and kings<MG935> on My account<MG1752a>, as a testimony<MG3142> to them and to the Gentiles<MG1484>. <a href="/matthew/10-19.htm">19</a>But when<MG3752> they hand<MG3860> you over<MG3860>, do not worry<MG3309> about<MG3309> how<MG4459> or<MG2228> what<MG5101> you are to say<MG2980>; for what<MG5101> you are to say<MG2980> will be given<MG1325> you in that hour<MG5610>. <a href="/matthew/10-20.htm">20</a>For it is not you who are speaking<MG2980>, but it is the Spirit<MG4151> of your Father<MG3962> who is speaking<MG2980> <a href="#fn">[p]</a>in you. <a href="/matthew/10-21.htm">21</a>“Now<MG1161> brother<MG80> will betray<MG3860> brother<MG80> to death<MG2288>, and a father<MG3962> his child<MG5043>; and children<MG5043> will rise<MG1881> up<MG1881> against<MG1909> parents<MG1118> and <a href="#fn">[q]</a>cause<MG2289> them to<MG2289> be<MG2289> put<MG2289> to<MG2289> death<MG2289>. <a href="/matthew/10-22.htm">22</a>And you will be hated<MG3404> by all<MG3956> because<MG1223> of My name<MG3686>, but it is the one who has endured<MG5278> to the end<MG5056> who<MG3778> will be saved<MG4982>. <a href="/matthew/10-23.htm">23</a>“But whenever<MG3752> they persecute<MG1377> you in <a href="#fn">[r]</a>one<MG3778> city<MG4172>, flee<MG5343> to the <a href="#fn">[s]</a>next<MG2087>; for truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, you will not finish<MG5055> going through the cities<MG4172> of Israel<MG2474> until<MG2193> the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> comes<MG2064>. The Meaning of Discipleship<a href="/matthew/10-24.htm">24</a>“A <a href="#fn">[t]</a>disciple<MG3101> is not above<MG5228> his teacher<MG1320>, nor<MG3761> a slave<MG1401> above<MG5228> his master<MG2962>. <a href="/matthew/10-25.htm">25</a>It is enough<MG713> for the disciple<MG3101> that he may become<MG1096> like<MG5613> his teacher<MG1320>, and the slave<MG1401> like<MG5613> his master<MG2962>. If<MG1487> they have called<MG1941> the head<MG3617> of<MG3617> the<MG3617> house<MG3617> <a href="#fn">[u]</a>Beelzebul<MG954>, how<MG4214> much<MG4214> more<MG3123> will they insult the members<MG3615> of<MG3615> his household<MG3615>! <a href="/matthew/10-26.htm">26</a>“So<MG3767> do not fear<MG5399> them, for there is nothing<MG3762> concealed<MG2572> that will not be revealed<MG601>, or<MG2532> hidden<MG2927> that will not be known<MG1097>. <a href="/matthew/10-27.htm">27</a>What<MG3739> I tell<MG3004> you in the darkness<MG4653>, tell<MG3004> in the light<MG5457>; and what<MG3739> you hear<MG191> whispered in your ear<MG3775>, proclaim<MG2784> on the housetops<MG1430, 1909>. <a href="/matthew/10-28.htm">28</a>And do not be<MG5399> afraid<MG5399> of those<MG3588> who kill<MG615> the body<MG4983> but are unable<MG3361, 1410> to kill<MG615> the soul<MG5590>; but rather<MG3123> fear<MG5399> Him who is able<MG1410> to destroy<MG622> both<MG2532> soul<MG5590> and body<MG4983> in <a href="#fn">[v]</a>hell<MG1067>. <a href="/matthew/10-29.htm">29</a>Are two<MG1417> sparrows<MG4765> not sold<MG4453> for an <a href="#fn">[w]</a>assarion<MG787>?
