children who travel alone, children who face deportation to unsafe locations, and children's access to asylum and social services. Farmer previously conducted research on corporal punishment in US public schools as an Aryeh Neier Fellow with both Human Rights Watch and the American Civil Liberties Union. Previously, Farmer worked for the Norwegian Refugee Council as an expert in children and displacement; for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Washington, D.C., and Liberia; and for the US Department of Justice as a member of their Honors Program. She holds a bachelors degree from Harvard College, a masters degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and a law degree from New York University.
