Unfortunately because we had wasted time at another clinic that had misdiagnosed my cat he went into cardiac arrest right upon our arrival. They would revive him if I gave her $500 right then. I was freaking over my cat and she was sticking the clipboard IN MY FACE telling me that unless I signed the paper commiting to $500 they would let my cat die. I told her I did not have $500 I needed to call my mom. She said I did not have time for a phone call I needed to sign the paper. I told her then I guess he was going to have to be put down. She looked at me in shock and then left me alone. A couple of minutes later the vet came out and he was really great. He told me they did try to revive my kitty anyway and there was nothing they could do. His lungs were filled with fluid and he had a heart attack (see my review for VCA for the front part of THAT story). He was very sympathetic and made me feel better that it would not have made a difference... and they let us bring his body home to bury. Everyone from the back came out and expressed their condolences... but then I went back to the front to pay for the visit (just $65- not too bad considering)... and that front office girl never said squat. Just got the credit card info got my signature and then was done with us. The doctors are great and if I had taken my cat there one day earlier I have no doubt that he would still be alive today. They need someone new at their front desk though. These guys SUCK! I took my cat in there on a Saturday because he had been coughing and seemed to be having some trouble breathing. They took x-rays (at a cost of $222) and did NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO READ THEM! The lungs looked small and wrong and they said they didn't realy know what it meant. They charged us $65 to send them to a radiologist to read them ON MONDAY. They thought he "might have asthma or some sort of infection" and sent me away with a bunch of pills to give him over the next week (an additional $57). He got progressively worse over the next 24 hours and was unable to swallow anything - no food water nothing much less some stupid pills. Of course now it was Sunday and they were closed. I decided I couldn't wait until Monday to help my cat as her really coulnd't breathe anymore and I took him to the Emergency Pet Hospital on Jefferson. Right when we walked in the door he went into cardiac arrest and died. It was very traumatic for my son and me. I told the dr. there what the x-rays looked like and he knew right away what it meant - he said the reason his lungs looked small in the x-ray is because his lungs were FILLING WITH FLUID and only the part with air in it shows up on the x-rays. He also said it's fairly common for cats to get respiratory infections like this. What should have been done ON SATURDAY was the fluid should have been extracted from his lungs and then an antibiotic shot adminstered. If that stupid "vet" at VCA had known AT ALL what she was doing she would have known this! Why have an x-ray machine when you don't have the first clue about how to read x-rays? My daughter googled it and it came right up that he might have pnuemonia. Shouldn't a licensed vet have known this? Because I wasted time at VCA on Saturday my cat is dead. If I had only known I would have gone to Emergency Pet Hospital and he would be alive today. DO NOT GO THERE! You go in take their tests interview well they pump you up and say they have plenty of work for you and then nothing nada zilch. When I called to follow up with my interviewer (after a week of being told she was unavailable) I found out she quit. Got the new person's name who was handling my account and left 4 messages and sent 3 emails all of which were not returned. Finally after I had had enough of being lead around by their stories I complained to the receptionist over the phone and I got a phone call back in a few minutes. The new interviewer was absolutely so rude to me that I will never go there again. I've worked for at least 8 different temp agencies in my career and never have been treated with such disregard and disrepect. They wont do anyone the courtesy of calling them back or answering emails. In all my messages and emails I was courteous and polite but did not receive that back from these 'professionals'. I hope they all go out of business and then discover how hard it is to try and make a living with 'professionals' like these 'helping' you.
