First, it is too long to squeeze in the introduction, and the history of the emmpire should be in the empire's entry. Second, no one actually claimed that Ghana and ancient Ghana were really connected, when Nkrumah decided on the name, he chose to call it Ghana because it was the first state in colonial West African to gain independence, and Ghana was the first known state (in those days) in West Africa.
