If Thou doest these things, manifest Thyself to the world." <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>For even His brethren did not believe on Him. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Jesus, therefore, saith to them, <FR>"My time is not yet present; but your time is always ready.<Fr> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span><FR>The world cannot hate you; but Me it hates, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil.<Fr> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span><FR>Go ye up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because My time has not yet been fulfilled."<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And, having said these things to them, He abode in Galilee.<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But, when His brethren went up to the feast, then He also went up, not openly, but as <i>it were</i> in secret. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>The Jews, therefore, were seeking Him at the feast, and said, "Where is He?" <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes: some were saying, "He is a good Man;" others were saying, "Nay, but He is misleading the multitude." <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>No one, however, was speaking openly concerning Him, for fear of the Jews.<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But, it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and was teaching. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>The Jews, therefore, were marveling, saying, "How knoweth This Man letters, having never learned!" <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Jesus, therefore, answered them, and said, <FR>"My teaching is not Mine, but His Who sent Me.<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><FR>If any one wills to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or <i>whether</i> I speak from Myself.<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He Who seeketh the glory of Him Who sent Him the Same is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.<Fr><p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>Did not Moses give you the law? and not one of you does the law. Why are ye seeking to kill Me?"<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The multitude answered, "Thou hast a demon: who is seeking to kill you!" <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Jesus answered, and said to them, <FR>"I did one work, and ye all marvel because of this.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers); and on the sabbath ye circumcise a man.<Fr> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><FR>If a man receives circumcision on a sabbath, that the law of Moses be not broken, are ye angry with Me, because I made a whole man well on <i>the</i> sabbath?<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><FR>Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."<Fr><p> <A name="26"></a><p class="hdg">Is Jesus the Christ?<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Some, therefore, of those of Jerusalem said, "Is not This He Whom they are seeking to kill? <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And, behold, He is speaking openly, and they say nothing to Him! Did the rulers ever truly know that This is the Christ? <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>But as to This Man we know whence He is; but, when the Christ cometh, no one knows whence He is." <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Jesus, therefore, cried in the temple, teaching and saying, <FR>"Ye both know Me, and know whence I am; and I have not come of Myself; but He Who sent Me is true, Whom ye know not.<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span><FR>I know Him; because I am from Him, and He sent Me."<Fr> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>They were seeking, therefore, to seize Him; and no one laid <i>his</i> hand upon Him, because His hour had not yet come. <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>But of the multitude many believed on Him, and said, "When the Christ shall come, will He do more signs than those which This Man did?"<p> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning Him; and the high priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him. <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>Jesus, therefore, said, <FR>"Yet a little while am I with you, and I go to Him Who sent Me.<Fr> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><FR>Ye will seek Me, and will not find Me; and, where I am, ye cannot come."<Fr> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, "Where is This Man about to go, that we shall not find Him? Is He about to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>What is this word that He said, <FR>'Ye will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, ye cannot come?'"<Fr><p> <A name="38"></a><p class="hdg">Living Water<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Now, on the last day, the great <i>day</i> of the feast, Jesus stood, and cried, saying, <FR>"If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink.<Fr> <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span><FR>He that believes on Me, as the Scripture said, from within him shall flow rivers of living water."<Fr> <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>But this He spake concerning the Spirit, Whom those who believed on Him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet <i>given</i>, because Jesus was not yet glorified.<p> <A name="41"></a><p class="hdg">Division over Jesus<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span><i>Some</i> of the multitude, therefore, having heard these words, said, "Truly This is the Prophet;" <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>others said, "This is the Christ;" but some said, "What? doth the Christ come out of Nazareth?" <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Did not the Scriptures say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?" <A name="44"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>A division, therefore, arose in the multitude because of Him. <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>And some of them were wishing to seize Him; but no one laid hands on Him.<p> <A name="46"></a><p class="hdg">The Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>The officers, therefore, came to the high priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did ye not bring Him?" <A name="47"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>The officers answered, "Never did man speak thus!" <A name="48"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span>The Pharisees; therefore, answered them, "Have ye also been led astray? <A name="49"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>Did any one of the rulers believe on Him, or of the Pharisees? <A name="50"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span>But this multitude, who know not the law, are accursed." <A name="51"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span>Nicodemus says to them (he who came to Him before, being one of them), <A name="52"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span>"Does our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he does?" <A name="53"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-52.htm"><b>52</b></a></span>They answered, and said to him, "Are you also of Galilee?
