To reduce their complexity, an abstract view of the system can simplify its development. To overcome this problem, we propose a method to decompose systems into subsystems while reducing their coupling. These subsystems represent components. Consisting of an existing object-oriented systems, the main idea of our approach is based on modelling as graphs all entities of an oriented object source code. Such modelling is easy to handle, so we can apply restructuring algorithms based on graph metrics. The particularity of our approach consists in integrating in addition to standard metrics, such as coupling and cohesion, some graph metrics giving more precision during the components identi cation. To treat this problem, we relied on the ROMANTIC approach that proposed a component-based software architecture recovery from an object oriented system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20reengineering" title="software reengineering">software reengineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20component%0D%0Aand%20interfaces" title=" software component and interfaces"> software component and interfaces</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metrics" title=" metrics"> metrics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphs" title=" graphs"> graphs</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13322/software-component-identification-from-its-object-oriented-code-graph-metrics-based-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13322.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">501</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> The Design and Implementation of an Enhanced 2D Mesh Switch</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Langar">Manel Langar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riad%20Bourguiba"> Riad Bourguiba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaouhar%20Mouine"> Jaouhar Mouine</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of an enhanced wormhole virtual channel on chip router. The high fouling capacity is due to the high content of bicarbonate (442 mg/L) and calcium (136 mg/L). This work focuses on the use of three new green inhibitors for reducing calcium carbonate scale formation: gallic acid, quercetin and alginate, and on the comparison between them. These inhibitors have proven to be green antiscalants because they have no impact on the environment. Electrochemical methods (chronoamperometry and impedancemetry) were used to evaluate their performance. According to the study, these inhibitors are excellent green chemical inhibitors of scaling, and the best inhibitor is quercetin because it gave a good result with a lower concentration (2mg/L) compared to others inhibitors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaling" title="scaling">scaling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=green%20inhibitor" title=" green inhibitor"> green inhibitor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chronoamperometry" title=" chronoamperometry"> chronoamperometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impedancemetry" title=" impedancemetry"> impedancemetry</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167621/use-of-electrochemical-methods-for-the-inhibition-of-scaling-with-green-products" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167621.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">116</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> On the Impact of Oil Price Fluctuations on Stock Markets: A Multivariate Long-Memory GARCH Framework</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Youssef">Manel Youssef</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lotfi%20Belkacem"> Lotfi Belkacem</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper employs multivariate long memory GARCH models to simultaneously estimate mean and conditional variance spillover effects between oil prices and different financial markets. Since different financial assets are traded based on these market sector returns, it’s important for financial market participants to understand the volatility transmission mechanism over time and across these series in order to make optimal portfolio allocation decisions. We examine weekly returns from January 1, 2003 to November 30, 2012 and find evidence of significant transmission of shocks and volatilities between oil prices and some of the examined financial markets. The findings support the idea of cross-market hedging and sharing of common information by investors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20prices" title="oil prices">oil prices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stock%20indices%20returns" title=" stock indices returns"> stock indices returns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20volatility" title=" oil volatility"> oil volatility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contagion" title=" contagion"> contagion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DCC-multivariate%20%28FI%29%20GARCH" title=" DCC-multivariate (FI) GARCH"> DCC-multivariate (FI) GARCH</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20756/on-the-impact-of-oil-price-fluctuations-on-stock-markets-a-multivariate-long-memory-garch-framework" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20756.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">533</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Hard Water Softening by Chronoamperometry and Impedancemetry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samira%20Ghizellaoui">Samira Ghizellaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Boumagoura"> Manel Boumagoura</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rayane%20Menzri"> Rayane Menzri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The ground water Hamma rich in calcium and bicarbonate likely to deposit the tartar and subsequently lead to the obstruction of the pipes and the seizing of the stopping devices in addition to the financial losses resulting there from. It is therefore necessary to optimise an antiscaling treatment in order to avoid the risk of formation of tartar deposits in the various installations and to protect the equipment in contact with this water. MgCl2 is the chemical inhibitor which was tested. To optimise the effective concentration of this product, we used two electrochemical methods (chronoamperometry and impedancemetry) to identify the best method for optimizing antiscaling treatment. IR, RX, Raman spectroscopy and SEM indicate that the raw waters of Hamma give precipitates in the form of calcite (the most stable form), with the presence of a small amount of magnesian calcite and aragonite. Three materials are developed from PLA, as a matrix, and : (i) olive kernels (OK); (ii) alfa (α) short fibers and (iii) OK+ α mixture, as reinforcements. After processing of PLA pellets and olive kernels in powder and alfa stems in short fibers, three mixtures, namely PLA-OK, PLA-α, and PLA-OK-α are prepared and homogenized in Turbula®. These mixtures are then compacted at 180°C under 10 MPa during 15 mn. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) examinations show that PLA matrix adheres at surface of all reinforcements and the dispersion of these ones in matrix is good. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses highlight an increase of PLA inter-reticular distances, especially for the PLA-OK case. These results are explained by the dissociation of some molecules derived from reinforcements followed by diffusion of the released atoms in the structure of PLA. This is consistent with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alfa%20short%20fibers" title="alfa short fibers">alfa short fibers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biodegradable%20composite" title=" biodegradable composite"> biodegradable composite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=olive%20kernels" title=" olive kernels"> olive kernels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poly-lactic%20acid" title=" poly-lactic acid"> poly-lactic acid</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85801/study-of-biodegradable-composite-materials-based-on-polylactic-acid-and-vegetal-reinforcements" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85801.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Coordination Behavior, Theoretical studies and Biological Activity of Some Transition Metal Complexes with Oxime Ligands</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noura%20Kichou">Noura Kichou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Tafergguenit"> Manel Tafergguenit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nabila%20Ghechtouli"> Nabila Ghechtouli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zakia%20Hank"> Zakia Hank</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this work is to synthesize, characterize and evaluate the biological activity of two Ligands: glyoxime and dimethylglyoxime, and their metal Ni(II) chelates. The MEP is related to the electronic density and is a very useful descriptor in understanding sites for electrophilic attack and nucleophilic reactions as well as hydrogen bonding interactions. First, geometry optimization was carried out using Hartree–Fock (HF) and DFT methods with 6-311G(d,p) basis set. In order to get more information on the molecule, its stability has been analyzed by natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. Mulliken population analyses have been calculated. Finally, the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and HOMO-LUMO energy levels have been performed. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies show also the charge transfer within the molecule. The energy gap obtained is about 4 eV which explain the stability of the studied compound. The obtained molecular electrostatic potential from the two methods confirms the nature of the electron charge transfer at the molecular shell and locate the electropositive part and the electronegative part in molecular scale of the title compound. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DFT" title="DFT">DFT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ab%20initio" title=" ab initio"> ab initio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HOMO-LUMO" title=" HOMO-LUMO"> HOMO-LUMO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20compounds" title=" organic compounds"> organic compounds</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43840/molecular-electrostatic-potential-in-z-3n2-ethoxyphenyl-2-n2-ethoxyphenyl-imino-thiazolidin-4-one-molecule-by-ab-initio-and-dft-methods" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43840.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">535</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Application of Chemical Tests for the Inhibition of Scaling From Hamma Hard Waters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samira%20Ghizellaoui">Samira Ghizellaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Boumagoura"> Manel Boumagoura</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Calcium carbonate precipitation is a widespread problem, especially in hard water systems. The main water supply that supplies the city of Constantine with drinking water is underground water called Hamma water. This water has a very high hardness of around 590 mg/L CaCO₃. This leads to the formation of scale, consisting mainly of calcium carbonate, which can be responsible for the clogging of valves and the deterioration of equipment (water heaters, washing machines and encrustations in the pipes). Plant extracts used as scale inhibitors have attracted the attention of several researchers. In recent years, green inhibitors have attracted great interest because they are biodegradable, non-toxic and do not affect the environment. The aim of our work is to evaluate the effectiveness of a chemical antiscale treatment in the presence of three green inhibitors: gallicacid; quercetin; alginate, and three mixtures: (gallic acid-quercetin); (quercetin-alginate); (gallic acid-alginate). The results show that the inhibitory effect is manifested from an addition of 1mg/L of gallic acid, 10 mg/L of quercetin, 0.2 mg/L of alginate, 0.4mg/L of (gallic acid-quercetin), 2mg/L of (quercetin-alginate) and 0.4 mg/L of (gallic acid-alginate). On the other hand, 100 mg/L (Drinking water standard) of Ca2+is reached for partial softening at 4 mg/L of gallic acid, 40 mg/L of quercetin, 0.6mg/L of alginate, 4mg/L of (gallic acid-quercetin), 10mg/L of (quercetin-alginate) and 1.6 mg/L of (gallic acid-alginate). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water" title="water">water</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaling" title=" scaling"> scaling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=calcium%20carbonate" title=" calcium carbonate"> calcium carbonate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=green%20inhibitor" title=" green inhibitor"> green inhibitor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167612/application-of-chemical-tests-for-the-inhibition-of-scaling-from-hamma-hard-waters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167612.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">68</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Malachite Green and Red Congo Dyes Adsorption onto Chemical Treated Sewage Sludge</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zamouche%20Meriem">Zamouche Meriem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehcene%20Ismahan"> Mehcene Ismahan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Temmine%20Manel"> Temmine Manel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bencheikh%20Lehocine%20Mosaab"> Bencheikh Lehocine Mosaab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meniai%20Abdeslam%20Hassen"> Meniai Abdeslam Hassen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, the adsorption of Malachite Green (MG) by chemical treated sewage sludge has been studied. The sewage sludge, collected from drying beds of the municipal wastewater treatment station of IBN ZIED, Constantine, Algeria, was treated by different acids such us HNO₃, H₂SO₄, H₃PO₄ for modifying its aptitude to removal the MG from aqueous solutions. The results obtained shows that the sewage sludge activated by sulfuric acid give the highest elimination amounts of MG (9.52 mg/L) compared by the other acids used. The effects of operation parameters have been investigated, the results obtained show that the adsorption capacity per unit of adsorbent mass decreases from 18.69 to 1.20 mg/g when the mass of the adsorbent increases from 0.25 to 4 g respectively, the optimum mass for which a maximum of elimination of the dye is equal to 0.5g. The increasing in the temperature of the solution results in a slight decrease in the adsorption capacity of the chemically treated sludge. The highest amount of dye adsorbed by CSSS (9.56 mg/g) was observed for the optimum temperature of 25°C. The silver nanoparticles "Ag NPs" were synthesized by reducing AgNO3 with microwaves. The characterization of nanoparticles was done by using Transmission Electron Microscopy " TEM ", Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy "EDS", Selected Area Electron Diffraction "SEAD", UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering "DLS". Transmission Electron Microscopy and Electron Diffraction have confirmed the nanoscale, the shape, and the crystalline quality of as synthesized silver nanoparticles. Elementary analysis has proved the purity of Ag NPs and the presence of the Surface Plasmon Resonance phenomenon "SPR". A strong absorption shift was observed in the visible range of the UV-visible spectrum of as synthesized Ag NPs, which indicates the presence of metallic silver. When the strong absorption in the ultraviolet range of the spectrum has revealed the presence of ionic Ag NPs ionic Ag aggregates species. The autocorrelation function measured by the Dynamic Light Scattering has shown a strong monodispersed character of Ag NPs, which is indicated by the presence of a single size population, with a minima and a maxima laying between 40 and 111 nm. The aim of our study was to evaluate the relationship between the immunomarkers: Nitric Oxide (NO), pro-inflammatory cytokines, and blood count-based ratios and the outcome of corticosteroid or anti-TNF-α therapy in patients with complicated Crohn’s Disease. In this context, we evaluated the NLR as the ratio of neutrophil count to lymphocyte count, PLR as the ratio of platelet counts to lymphocyte count, and MLR as the ratio of monocyte count to lymphocyte count in patients and controls. Furthermore, we assessed NO production by the Griess method in plasma along with iNOS and NF-κB expression by immunofluorescence method in intestinal tissues of patients and controls. In the same way, we evaluated plasma TNF-α, IL-17A, and IL-10 levels using ELISA. Our results indicate that blood count-based ratios NLR, PLR, and MLR were significantly higher in patients compared to controls. In addition, increased systemic levels of NO, TNF-α, and IL-17A and colonic expression of iNOS and NF-κB were observed in the same patients. Interestingly, the high ratio of NLR and MLR, as well as NO production, was significantly decreased in treated patients. Collectively, our findings suggest that Nitric Oxide, as well as the blood count-based ratios (NLR, PLR, MLR), could constitute useful immuno-markers in complicated Crohn’s Disease, predicting the response to treatment <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complicated%20crohn%E2%80%99s%20disease" title="complicated crohn’s disease">complicated crohn’s disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nitric%20oxide" title=" nitric oxide"> nitric oxide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blood%20count-based%20ratios" title=" blood count-based ratios"> blood count-based ratios</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=treatments" title=" treatments"> treatments</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pro-inflammatory%20cytokines" title=" pro-inflammatory cytokines"> pro-inflammatory cytokines</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168994/nitric-oxide-and-blood-based-ratios-as-promising-immuno-markers-in-patients-with-complicated-crohns-disease-benefits-for-predicting-therapy-response" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168994.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">79</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Charge Trapping on a Single-wall Carbon Nanotube Thin-film Transistor with Several Electrode Metals for Memory Function Mimicking</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ameni%20Mahmoudi">Ameni Mahmoudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Troudi"> Manel Troudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paolo%20Bondavalli"> Paolo Bondavalli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nabil%20Sghaier"> Nabil Sghaier</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, the charge storage on thin-film SWCNT transistors was investigated, and C-V hysteresis tests showed that interface charge trapping effects predominate the memory window. Two electrode materials were utilized to demonstrate that selecting the appropriate metal electrode clearly improves the conductivity and, consequently, the SWCNT thin-film’s memory effect. Because their work function is similar to that of thin-film carbon nanotubes, Ti contacts produce higher charge confinement and show greater charge storage than Pd contacts. For Pd-contact CNTFETs and CNTFETs with Ti electrodes, a sizable clockwise hysteresis window was seen in the dual sweep circle with a threshold voltage shift of V11.52V and V9.7V, respectively. The SWCNT thin-film based transistor is expected to have significant trapping and detrapping charges because of the large C-V hysteresis. We have found that the predicted stored charge density for CNTFETs with Ti contacts is approximately 4.01×10-2C.m-2, which is nearly twice as high as the charge density of the device with Pd contacts. We have shown that the amount of trapped charges can be changed by sweeping the range or Vgs rate. We also looked into the variation in the flat band voltage (V FB) vs. time in order to determine the carrier retention period in CNTFETs with Ti and Pd electrodes. The outcome shows that memorizing trapped charges is about 300 seconds, which is a crucial finding for memory function mimicking. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=charge%20storage" title="charge storage">charge storage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thin-film%20SWCNT%20based%20transistors" title=" thin-film SWCNT based transistors"> thin-film SWCNT based transistors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C-V%20hysteresis" title=" C-V hysteresis"> C-V hysteresis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=memory%20effect" title=" memory effect"> memory effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trapping%20and%20detrapping%20charges" title=" trapping and detrapping charges"> trapping and detrapping charges</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stored%20charge%20density" title=" stored charge density"> stored charge density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20carrier%20retention%20time" title=" the carrier retention time"> the carrier retention time</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159141/charge-trapping-on-a-single-wall-carbon-nanotube-thin-film-transistor-with-several-electrode-metals-for-memory-function-mimicking" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159141.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Analysis and Comparison of Asymmetric H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter Topologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manel%20Hammami">Manel Hammami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriele%20Grandi"> Gabriele Grandi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, multilevel inverters have become more attractive for single-phase photovoltaic (PV) systems, due to their known advantages over conventional H-bridge pulse width-modulated (PWM) inverters. They offer improved output waveforms, smaller filter size, lower total harmonic distortion (THD), higher output voltages and others. The most common multilevel converter topologies, presented in literature, are the neutral-point-clamped (NPC), flying capacitor (FC) and Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) converters. In both NPC and FC configurations, the number of components drastically increases with the number of levels what leads to complexity of the control strategy, high volume, and cost. Whereas, increasing the number of levels in case of the cascaded H-bridge configuration is a flexible solution. However, it needs isolated power sources for each stage, and it can be applied to PV systems only in case of PV sub-fields. In order to improve the ratio between the number of output voltage levels and the number of components, several hybrids and asymmetric topologies of multilevel inverters have been proposed in the literature such as the FC asymmetric H-bridge (FCAH) and the NPC asymmetric H-bridge (NPCAH) topologies. Another asymmetric multilevel inverter configuration that could have interesting applications is the cascaded asymmetric H-bridge (CAH), which is based on a modular half-bridge (two switches and one capacitor, also called level doubling network, LDN) cascaded to a full H-bridge in order to double the output voltage level. This solution has the same number of switches as the above mentioned AH configurations (i.e., six), and just one capacitor (as the FCAH). CAH is becoming popular, due to its simple, modular and reliable structure, and it can be considered as a retrofit which can be added in series to an existing H-Bridge configuration in order to double the output voltage levels. In this paper, an original and effective method for the analysis of the DC-link voltage ripple is given for single-phase asymmetric H-bridge multilevel inverters based on level doubling network (LDN). Different possible configurations of the asymmetric H-Bridge multilevel inverters have been considered and the analysis of input voltage and current are analytically determined and numerically verified by Matlab/Simulink for the case of cascaded asymmetric H-bridge multilevel inverters. A comparison between FCAH and the CAH configurations is done on the basis of the analysis of the DC and voltage ripple for the DC source (i.e., the PV system). The peak-to-peak DC and voltage ripple amplitudes are analytically calculated over the fundamental period as a function of the modulation index. On the basis of the maximum peak-to-peak values of low frequency and switching ripple voltage components, the DC capacitors can be designed. Reference is made to unity output power factor, as in case of most of the grid-connected PV generation systems. Simulation results will be presented in the full paper in order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed developments in all the operating conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20inverters" title="asymmetric inverters">asymmetric inverters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dc-link%20voltage" title=" dc-link voltage"> dc-link voltage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=level%20doubling%20network" title=" level doubling network"> level doubling network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single-phase%20multilevel%20inverter" title=" single-phase multilevel inverter"> single-phase multilevel inverter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89726/analysis-and-comparison-of-asymmetric-h-bridge-multilevel-inverter-topologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89726.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">207</span> </span> </div> </div> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
