href="/numbers/1-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>So all<MH3605> the numbered<MH6485> men of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> by their fathers’<MH1> households<MH1004>, from twenty<MH6242> years<MH8141> old<MH1121> and upward<MH4605>, whoever<MH3605> <i>was able to</i> go<MH3318> to war<MH6635> in Israel<MH3478>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>all<MH3605> the numbered<MH6485> men were 603,550<MH8337a, 3967, 505, 7969, 2568, 2572>. <p class="hdg">Levites Exempted</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span>The Levites<MH3881>, however, were not counted<MH6485> among<MH8432> them by their fathers’<MH1> tribe<MH4294>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>For the LORD<MH3068> had spoken<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span>“Only<MH389> the tribe<MH4294> of Levi<MH3878> you shall not count<MH6485>, nor<MH3808> shall you take<MH5375> their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>census<MH7218> among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span>And you shall appoint<MH6485> the Levites<MH3881> over<MH5921> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>tabernacle<MH4908> of the testimony<MH5715>, and over<MH5921> all<MH3605> its furnishings<MH3627> and over<MH5921> everything<MH3605> that belongs to it. They shall carry<MH5375> the tabernacle<MH4908> and all<MH3605> its furnishings<MH3627>, and they shall take<MH8334> care<MH8334> of<MH8334> it; they shall also camp<MH2583> around<MH5439> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>tabernacle<MH4908>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/1-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span>So when the tabernacle<MH4908> is to move<MH5265> on<MH5265>, the Levites<MH3881> shall take<MH3381> it down<MH3381>; and when the tabernacle<MH4908> encamps<MH2583>, the Levites<MH3881> shall set<MH6965> it up<MH6965>.
