<A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.<p> <A name="15"></a><p class="hdg">The Word Became Flesh<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, <i>being</i> full of grace and truth: and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Of Him did John bare witness, and publicly declared, saying, This was He of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is <i>preferred</i> before me; but declared openly, I am not the Christ. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>He saith unto them, <FR>Come and see.<Fr> <i>And</i> they came and saw where He dwelt, and abode with Him that day: and it was about the tenth hour. <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span><i>Now</i> Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two that heard <i>what</i> John <i>said,</i> and <i>thereupon</i> followed Jesus. <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>He first meeteth with his own brother Simon, and telleth him, "We have found the Messiah, which is to say, the Christ." <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>And <i>Andrew</i> brought him to Jesus: and Jesus looking at him said, <FR>Thou art Simon the son of Jonas, thou shalt be called Cephas; which is interpreted a stone.<Fr><p> <A name="44"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>The day following Jesus had a mind to go out into Galilee, and meeting with Philip, saith unto him, <FR>Follow me.<Fr> <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>Now Philip was of Bethsaida the city of Andrew and Peter. <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>Philip meeting Nathaniel, saith unto him, We have found <i>Him,</i> of whom Moses in the law, and <i>of whom</i> the prophets <i>also</i> wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Jeseph. <A name="47"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>And Nathaniel said unto him, Can any <i>thing</i> good come out of Nazareth? Philip replied, Come and see. <A name="48"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span><i>And</i> when Jesus saw Nathaniel coming towards Him, He saith concerning him, <FR>"Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile."<Fr> <A name="49"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/1-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>Nathaniel saith unto Him, Whence knowest thou me?
