This study seeks to understand how this reportage book uses literary elements to compose the journalistic-literary narrative. We focus on the assimilation of a specific feature of the narrative, centered on scene-by-scene construction. This study is based on the theories of Mikhail Bakhtin and the Circle, which help to understand the overlap of journalistic, historical and literary narratives. RESUMO A presente pesquisa analisa as marcas literárias e jornalísticas presentes no livro Chico Mendes: crime e castigo, do periodista brasileiro Zuenir Ventura. O artigo busca compreender como o livro-reportagem ora em estudo utiliza os elementos da literatura para compor a tessitura da narrativa jornalístico-literária. O escopo do trabalho centra-se na assimilação de uma característica peculiar à narrativa do livro-reportagem, centrada na construção cena a cena. The main conclusion is that it is a field in progress, whose wealth is precisely its diversity. The results of the study point to three possible improvements. The first one is to reinforce the connection of Communications with other fields of knowledge, such as Sociology, Anthropology, and Psychology, since the in-depth treatment of this kind of text demands broad and consistent epistemological and methodological approaches. The second is the need to form efficient networks of researchers, since there is already a considerable amount of research that has been carried out in Brazil. The public voted against both projects. This article analyzes the narrative identities found on the front pages of O Liberal and Diário do Pará newspapers about the plebiscite in Pará. Depth Hermeneutics (DH), as proposed by Thompson (2011), was used as the methodological reference. DH emphasizes the object of analysis as a meaningful symbolic construction requiring interpretation. Narrative analysis, as proposed by Motta (2007), was the main research technique used to highlight the movement of construction of journalistic (discursive) characters. The narrative identities built by the two newspapers showed that both were against the creation of the new states, but for very different reasons. Narrative journalism has achieved an important growth in Latin America, in the context of the so-called boom of the Latin American crónica. At a more modest level, in the Spanish sphere this journalistic modality that uses literary tools to tell real events, has experienced a particular boost relying on specialized publishers. The aim of this research is to compare points of view, issues, influences and publications between Spanish and Latin American journalists. Methodology. The study is based on in-depth interviews with 22 leading narrative journalists from Spain, Argentina and Chile. Results and conclusions. Despite the diversity of designations, journalists from both latitudes agree when identifying the keys of the genre and pointing out the difficulties for its development, due to the lack of publishing channels in mainstream media, replaced now by books and magazines. Together with the variety of subjects addressed, there are differences between the work of Spanish and Latin American journalists in narrative structure planning as well as the reciprocity of professional references.
