Those<MH1992a> were the mighty<MH1368> men<MH1368> who<MH834> <i>were</i> of old<MH5769>, men<MH376> of renown<MH8034>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> saw<MH7200> that the wickedness<MH7463a> of mankind<MH120> was great<MH7227a> on the earth<MH776>, and that every<MH3605> intent<MH3336> of the thoughts<MH4284> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>their hearts<MH3820> was only<MH7534b> evil<MH7451a> continually<MH3605, 3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>So the LORD<MH3068> was<MH5162> sorry<MH5162> that He had made<MH6213a> mankind<MH120> on the earth<MH776>, and He was grieved<MH6087a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>in His heart<MH3820>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559>, “I will wipe<MH4229a> out<MH4229a> mankind<MH120> whom<MH834> I have created<MH1254a> from the face<MH6440> of the land<MH127>; mankind<MH120>, and animals<MH929> as<MH5704> well<MH5704>, and crawling<MH7431> things<MH7431>, and the birds<MH5775> of the sky<MH8064>. For I am<MH5162> sorry<MH5162> that I have made<MH6213a> them.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But Noah<MH5146> found<MH4672> favor<MH2580> in the eyes<MH5869> of the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>These<MH428> are <i>the records of</i> the generations<MH8435> of Noah<MH5146>. Noah<MH5146> was a righteous<MH6662> man<MH376>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>blameless<MH8549> in his generation<MH1755>. Noah<MH5146> walked<MH1980> with God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And Noah<MH5146> fathered<MH3205> three<MH7969> sons<MH1121>: Shem<MH8035>, Ham<MH2526>, and Japheth<MH3315>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Now the earth<MH776> was<MH7843> corrupt<MH7843> in the sight<MH6440> of God<MH430>, and the earth<MH776> was filled<MH4390> with violence<MH2555>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And God<MH430> looked<MH7200> on the earth<MH776>, and behold<MH2009>, it was<MH7843> corrupt<MH7843>; for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>humanity<MH1320> had corrupted<MH7843> its way<MH1870> upon the earth<MH776>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Then God<MH430> said<MH559> to Noah<MH5146>, “The end<MH7093> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>humanity<MH1320> has come<MH935> before<MH6440> Me; for the earth<MH776> is filled<MH4390> with violence<MH2555> because<MH4480, 6440> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>people; and behold<MH2009>, I am about to destroy<MH7843> them with the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Make<MH6213a> for yourself an ark<MH8392> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>gopher<MH1613> wood<MH6086>; you shall make<MH6213a> the ark<MH8392> with compartments<MH7064>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>cover<MH3722b> it inside<MH4480, 1004> and out with pitch<MH3724b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>This<MH2088> is how<MH834> you shall make<MH6213a> it: the length<MH753> of the ark<MH8392> <i>shall be</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>three<MH7969> hundred<MH3967> cubits<MH520>, its width<MH7341> fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520>, and its height<MH6967> thirty<MH7970> cubits<MH520>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>You shall make<MH6213a> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>window<MH6672b> for the ark<MH8392>, and finish<MH3615> it to a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>cubit<MH520> from <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>the top<MH4605>; and put<MH7760> the door<MH6607> of the ark<MH8392> on the side<MH6654>; you shall make<MH6213a> it with lower<MH8482>, second<MH8145>, and third<MH7992> decks. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Now behold<MH2009>, I Myself am bringing<MH935> the flood<MH3999> of water<MH4325> upon the earth<MH776>, to destroy<MH7843> all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320> in which<MH834> there is the breath<MH7307> of life<MH2425b>, from under<MH8478> heaven<MH8064>; everything<MH3605> that is on the earth<MH776> shall perish<MH1478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>But I will establish<MH6965> My covenant<MH1285> with you; and you shall enter<MH935> the ark<MH8392>—you, your sons<MH1121>, your wife<MH802>, and your sons’<MH1121> wives<MH802> with you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And of every<MH3605> living<MH2416a> thing<MH2416a> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320>, you shall bring<MH935> two<MH8147> of every<MH3605> <i>kind</i> into the ark<MH8392>, to keep<MH2421a> <i>them</i> alive<MH2421a> with you; they shall be male<MH2145> and female<MH5347>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Of the birds<MH5775> according to their kind<MH4327>, and of the animals<MH929> according to their kind<MH4327>, of every<MH3605> crawling<MH7431> thing<MH7431> of the ground<MH127> according to its kind<MH4327>, two<MH8147> of every<MH3605> <i>kind</i> will come<MH935> to you to keep<MH2421a> <i>them</i> alive<MH2421a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/6-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>As for you, take<MH3947> for yourself some<MH4480> of every<MH3605> food<MH3978> that is edible<MH398>, and gather<MH622> <i>it</i> to yourself;
