In order to continue this positive trend, the Commission encourages proposals of new memberships, in particular from non-represented countries and from young researchers.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>INHIGEO</strong> achieves its objective by sponsoring a major annual symposium on specific themes with associated publications while fieldtrips on the history of geology of the host country complement the scientific sessions and promote awareness of this cultural resource for society. The commission issues a substantial "Annual Record" that details historical research into earth sciences worldwide by members, publicises pertinent historical activities, gives reports of ongoing projects/tasks and provides scholarly reviews.
