<A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>Perhaps LORD JEHOVAH your God will hear the words of Rab Shakeh whom his Master the King of Assyria sent to reproach the living God, and he shall rebuke him for the words that LORD JEHOVAH your God heard, and you will seek and you will pray for the rest who are left.&#8221; <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And the Servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah the Prophet. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And Isaiah said to them, &#8220;Thus you will say to your Master: &#8216;Thus says LORD JEHOVAH, you shall not be afraid of the words that you heard by which the Messengers of the King of Assyria blasphemed before me. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>Behold, I have put a spirit in him, and he will hear a report, and he shall return to his land, and I shall cast him down by the sword in his land.&#8217;&#8221;<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And Rab Shakeh returned and he found the King of Assyria when he fought with Lebnah, because he heard that he had picked up from Lakish. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And he heard concerning Tarkhaq, King of Kush, that he went out to fight with him, and he returned and he sent Messengers to Hezekiah: <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>&#8220;Thus you will say to Hezekiah, King of Yehuda: your God upon whom you trust should not deceive you and you would say that Jerusalem is not delivered into the hands of the King of Assyria. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Behold, you have heard all that the King of Assyria has done to all lands, and he destroyed them, and are you delivered? <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>How have the gods of the nations delivered Gauzan and Kharan and Ratsaph and the children of Eden who were in Dalaser, whom my fathers killed with the sword? <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Where is the King of Khamath and the King of Raphad and the King of the city Sepharvaim, and of Ana and of Ava?&#8221;<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Hezekiah took the letters from the hand of the Messengers, and he called them and he went up to the house of LORD JEHOVAH, and Hezekiah spread the letters before LORD JEHOVAH. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Hezekiah prayed before LORD JEHOVAH, and said: &#8220;LORD JEHOVAH of Hosts, God of Israel, sitting above the Cherubim, you are God, you alone, over all the kingdoms of Earth. You have made Heaven and Earth. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>Incline, LORD JEHOVAH, your ear, and hear; open, LORD JEHOVAH, your eyes and see, and hear all the words of Sennakherib who sent to reproach the living God! <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>Truly, LORD JEHOVAH, the Kings of Assyria have ravaged the nations and their lands <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And their gods they have burned in fire, because they were not gods, but the work of the hands of the children of men, of wood and of stone, and they burned them. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And now, LORD JEHOVAH, our God, save us from his hands, that all the kingdoms of Earth may know that you are LORD JEHOVAH God, you alone!&#8221;<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And Isaiah son of Amuts sent to Hezekiah, and he said: &#8220;Thus says LORD JEHOVAH, God of Israel, &#8216;Everything that you have prayed before me concerning Sennakherib, King of Assyria, I have heard.<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>This is the word that LORD JEHOVAH has spoken concerning him: &#8220;The virgin daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you, and the daughter of Jerusalem wags her head at you.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>Whom have you rebuked, and in front of whom have you blasphemed, and against whom have you lifted your voice? You have lifted your eyes on high against The Holy One of Israel!<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And by the agency of your Messengers you have rebuked LORD JEHOVAH, and you have said: &#8220;With the multitude of my chariots I shall ascend to the height of the mountains and to the borders of Lebanon, and I shall cut off the heights of the cedars, and the best of its cypresses, also I shall enter to the height of the limit of the forest of Karmela.<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>I shall dig and I shall drink the waters and I shall dry up with the hooves of my horses all the mighty rivers.&#8221;<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>Have you not heard that from a distance I have made it, and from the first days I have prepared it, and now I have brought it, that you may be for a wilderness and a desolation as a fortress city?<p> <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>Because their power has become feeble, they are broken down, and they are ashamed, and they have become as grass of the field and like green sprouts of spring, and like the grass of a rooftop, and like a tender sprout before the stalk.<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>Your dwelling and your entering and your going out I know, and that you were presumptuous against me.<p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>Because you have been presumptuous and you were arrogant against me, and your blasphemy went up in my ear, I shall put a ring into your nose and a bridle into your lips, and I shall turn you back into the way by which you came.<p> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And this will be a sign for you: eat this year an uncultivated crop, and the second year that which grows of the uncultivated crop, and the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards and eat their fruit. <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And the rest of the house of Yehuda who were left shall continue; they cast a root beneath and they make fruit above. <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/19-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>Because from Jerusalem will come forth a remnant, and an escape from the Mountain of Zion.
